Thank you, as always, for being so friendly. Do I wish beauty influencers were clearer about WHY they were using a lighter concealer? Yes. But they’re making content for their audience of expert makeup users, and it’s not surprising something got lost in communication.
I actually hate how it looks when it's lighter like I want the whole face to be the same tone Edit: I'm talking more about people who use extremely light concealers especially under their eyes which looks very strange. Beyond illuminating certain areas, I like the skin to maintain the same tone. But really, even if I don't like it, everyone can use what they want, it's subjective, the important thing is that you like it
I've ALWAYS heard and seen "use concealer lighter than your skin tone" and have always been confused when people didnt use a concealer that was lighter- So tysm for this! This is so helpful!
Thanks so much for the clarification. Your videos have been the best source of information for me, and l love the fact you acknowledge and answer your audiences questions. You're a gem ❤
Omgeeeeeeee!!!! I have not understood this forever! I'm sooo slow when it comes to makeup, it's like a foreign language, but this finally made me understand why people use lighter concealer 🤯... This sounds so dumb, but I was always like, "what are these women concealing? They're flawless"... When I watched tutorials
No one has ever explained this to me in a way that made sense before until you just did. Even my sister couldn’t help me understand and she got frustrated with me and quit. So thank you for teaching me this. Sincerely.
Gurl I am so grateful I found you. I am 44 years old and learning more about makeup than I have ever known and I feel so much more confident when I wear it now!!
I normally don’t get super excited by UA-camrs hearting my comments… But seeing this made me inexplicably happy. I don’t know, you’re just the best, thank you.🥲🩷
Thank you for clearing that up with an easy-to-understand explanation. I’m hard to match in the first place, and this will help a lot the next time I go shopping!
That's why I stopped using concealer. It never concealed my pimple nor my dark circle or I'm not just good with makeup. But thanks to you I might use concealer again.
Great info! Thank you for sharing. Your nails look natural and I love the nail color. What is the color and brand? You have such pretty hands and nails 😊
I love this hack, but I think it’s more hygienic to apply the concealer to your finger first. Because all the bacteria from the pimple is going into the bottle of the product.
I have freckles, and I'm pretty pale- and I always find picking a concealer just a touch warmer than my actual skin tends to work best. Otherwise, the overall look, doesn't blend with how my skin appear generally because of the freckles.
Thanks, that’s what I’ve been thinking about for years. I always used lighter concealer even though I didn’t like it. I like to use setting powder to brighten under eyes. Could you please share some more tips on how to brighten the skin?
Okay I was going to ask this when started watching you but you answered it perfectly where wasn’t to over/under explained where left still confused or it unanswered. And it does help explain. Would you recommend for under-eyes to use the same skin tone first than the lighter to brighten ontop?
It's so basic and seems to be obvious when u explain it. Girl, I think I found my shade. Or close to it. I've been going too light. Thank u for giving all these tips. I'm excited to try makeup again. 🎉❤
Omg, yes!! Every time I try and get shade matched for concealer they always give me a shade that is like 2-3 shades lighter, without fail. Like, please help me NOT look like a raccoon, k thannnnks.
I'm new to makeup so sorry if its silly but why have a concealer the same shade and a foundation the same shade? Is it just to have morr coverage? And if so why not just use more foundation? Love your videos btw❤
No. Even your under eye concealer doesn't "need" to be lighter than your foundation If you like the end result of a lighter concealer under your eyes, use one. But it is in no way a must
The theory behind under eye concealer is to counteract the dark, which the majority of us have - AKA, blood vessels. The way to do this is to 'lighten and brighten'. It only needs to be slightly lighter. This gives the illusion of 'I've had a couple of extra hours sleep'. If you have the same tone, it may be too cohesive, therefore not doing anything lifting for your face. I've been a MUA for 20 years, so I've seen how this theory works. You do you though. X
Hello jes. I was like to watch your makeup tips . I want to ask your question, why i put concealer and mascara, then after 2-3 hours, it become black on my eyes. I don't know if my mascara or concealer caused that. Could you give any tips for this?
Hello! 😊 Thank you for this great vid. O wanted to ask of you could add your skin tone and undertone. Your skin looks very similar to mine. I would LOVE it if you could write in your "About" your tones and maybe 1 of your specific foundation and concealer to really know. I am on the search for a beauty influencer with my skin tone! 🧐🤓😁
Shout out to all the Sephora employees that would try and force me to buy too light concealer ✌️ I always told them I want a perfect match cause I’m looking to CONCEAL not brighten 😒
What concealer do you recommend me? I have blue eyes and a very white skin so it's very blue under my eyes and I still haven't found a good concealer to cover enough.
I actually bought a concealer which feels yellowish on my face , can u plean tell what to do? Cause that concealer is not that cheap! Maybe i bought one shade dark...i bought beige 4😔
I don't know how i should pick makeup products like concealer or foundation that match my skin My mum always forces me to use things that she does and says they're better even though she has a much more lighter skin tone than me And now i can't understand that even if i do buy products for myself how do i know that they'll match my skin tone
I watch a UA-camr who does this and it looks a bit odd lol. Her foundation is quite dark and yet her concealer is light and somehow it just looks too artificial?
Foundations have different levels of coverage. Not all foundations have enough coverage to completely cover all imperfections. Full coverage foundations LOOK full coverage. They look heavy. Which is fine if that's the look you're going for. However, if you want your makeup to not look heavy, it makes more sense to use a light/medium coverage foundation to even out your skin (if you have minimal redness or maybe some discoloration etc so you have an even base), then use heavier coverage (concealer) over pimples or scars that your foundation doesn't cover as well
Thank you, as always, for being so friendly. Do I wish beauty influencers were clearer about WHY they were using a lighter concealer? Yes. But they’re making content for their audience of expert makeup users, and it’s not surprising something got lost in communication.
Absolutely! That’s why I make these types of videos for the people that aren’t quite there yet ❤

Like Fr, I mean I see why they would want to highlight it, but personally I use it to make my skin tone even
It’s so much better if you want that natural look! ❤
@kiwidanglish Samee, the highlight thing I get it but sometimes the skin tone is way too different
@@lilycastillo9296 Ahhhhhh yes some people really over do it wayyyyyyyy to much

Hahaha yes!! They’re using concealer but they’re not CONCEALING. I’m glad it finally made sense to you ☺️

As a beginner with make up, you've been my favorite youtuber. Thanksss!
Thank you for explaining!! My current concealer is too light for me, so this is good to know for when getting a different one!❤️

Thank you for this tip. I always wondered why because lighter concealer always accentuated my acne scars so much. Thank you for making so much sense ❤
Totally makes sense. Thx Jess!!❤
Those Nyx concealers from the vid are my favorite drugstore brands❤ thanks for the vid!
These are the Maybelline fit me concealers and they’re amazing!
Your the best teacher on make up stuff I learn so much with you
I’ve always been so confused when people said “Use a concealer that’s lighter than your skin tone” but this has made so much more sense! THANK YOU!!!
Love this kind of short and precise video❤
Slay gurl ❤❤❤
I feel so lucky i found this channel
thanks so much for explaining! ❤
That's why I stopped using concealer. It never concealed my pimple nor my dark circle or I'm not just good with makeup. But thanks to you I might use concealer again.
I need my concealor to match as well.

I don't even know what shade that suit me 🤣
Personally, I don't wear foundation so when my concealer is lighter it really stands out in an awkward way. I've always preferred an exact match.
Omg someone said that to me and i got it and was never able to use it again . Never knew it worked this way.
Yes it really depends on what technique you use or what style of makeup you want
Omg, yes!! Every time I try and get shade matched for concealer they always give me a shade that is like 2-3 shades lighter, without fail. Like, please help me NOT look like a raccoon, k thannnnks.
Omg they should at least check with you what look you’re going for!
Lo necesitaba, gracias ☺️
I see why my under eyes look black now. 🤦♀️ I knew but this makes more sense to see it.
Much helpful vedio

Concealer under the Eyes needs to be one to two shades lighter. Face Concealer needs to be the same shade as your Foundation.

Can you do both a light concealer to bring out those face features and a dark one to conceal, or should you just use one concealer per makeup look??
Thank you for explaining. What about foundation? I was told it should be darker than your skin tone?
Me And wow, you are right
Yeah I like using a lighter concealer because my skin tone is very uneven
Can you tell me the name of brand and shade of concealer you used in this video to conceal the dark circles .

Ok now i need to buy another concealer
Im sorry but I cannot get over how beautiful your eyes are 👀 👀 🥺😫😫
thank you love 🥺🫶🏼
Hey can you mention your perfect shade of concealer from nyx conceler serum and Maybelline fit me concealer
What was the darker shade you used please? Was it sand 20?
Does the same method work for darker skin?😊
I got concealer that matched my skin tone a couple weeks ago but I went to the beach and got super tan and now I can’t use it 😅
Lighter concealer is meant for highlight use not concealing
Shout out to all the Sephora employees that would try and force me to buy too light concealer ✌️ I always told them I want a perfect match cause I’m looking to CONCEAL not brighten 😒
Should we apply sunscreen before mousse n all??or at last?
Also not to put it directly to a pimple cuz you would contaminate it, instead use a brush or a q tip then blend it out
What concealer do you recommend me? I have blue eyes and a very white skin so it's very blue under my eyes and I still haven't found a good concealer to cover enough.
I already have to use the lightest shade anyway, so that’s not possible for me lmao
what kind of concealer do you use?
I actually bought a concealer which feels yellowish on my face , can u plean tell what to do? Cause that concealer is not that cheap! Maybe i bought one shade dark...i bought beige 4😔
Yrsssss thanks
How do you fully cover pimples that have a lot of redness??
but don't concealers oxidise as well? wouldn't that make it look slightly darker over time?
How can I find my perfect concealer shade online 😭 pls help me
I don't know how i should pick makeup products like concealer or foundation that match my skin
My mum always forces me to use things that she does and says they're better even though she has a much more lighter skin tone than me
And now i can't understand that even if i do buy products for myself how do i know that they'll match my skin tone
I got the wrong shade before and a lighter concealer made me look ashy what made them think that 😭😭
How has no body told me this 😭
i bought a darker shade of concealer which is my first one so i don't know what to do?😭
😮
👍
I watch a UA-camr who does this and it looks a bit odd lol. Her foundation is quite dark and yet her concealer is light and somehow it just looks too artificial?
Ok not trying to sound stupid but is concealers really needed? I thought foundation do the trick of covering stuff.

I'm sorry I'm Malaysia I'm not USA
