I was a pro Mua and I can say these are excellent tips for beginners! I just wanted to add that blush applied higher near the eyes is definitely trendy, but may not be well suited for every face shape. So if you’re someone who finds that you don’t like blush applied that high, you can still apply blush to the apples of your cheek. The reason why it’s drags the face down is because most people will apply it while smiling, the key is to find the apples of your cheeks but do NOT smile while applying, then you won’t ending up with droopy blush
@@Chelseapardede you can kind of go off of your nose put it basically above of the tip of your nose because if you look at her for example the apple of her cheek is very slightly above her nose tip or you follow along the bones just touch and try seeing where the most fat is stored along your cheekbones

This is. BY FAR. The MOST helpful beginner everyday makeup video I have encountered. I feel like I had to watch so many different vids and read so many articles that all went into ridiculous detail about one specific part of makeup like foundations, or picking correct colors, or application techniques, and it just is so much info that needs to be pieced together. You managed to cover everything necessary to know in 15 min, and I feel like I finally understand the process and purpose for everything when putting on a full face! Thank you! E.g. Blush and contour? I also view blush as a non-essential, but you explained WHY it ACTUALLY does something. Contour I also view as non-essential because I don’t like the American standard cheekbone method; I had a vague idea that cool-toned as used more in Asian makeup might suit me better, but you explained why cool-toned is just simply better to create a more natural look. The vague concept “set your makeup”? It’s so that when your face touches something you won’t transfer makeup. TYPE OF BRUSH TO DO A PROPER NOSE CONTOUR WITH A PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE BRUSH instead of just doing it or saying “use a contour brush to…”. I've always had problems with separating and pilling so I avoid putting any foundation at all. I'm so excited to try this! You are so pretty by the way 💟

I love the way you show all the different options instead of just mentioning them and then moving on, so we can see what it looks like, its incredibly helpful for comparing the effects between them ♥
This video taught me so much. I was definitely making a ton of these mistakes. I am guilty of mixing water based primer with silicone based foundation and not understanding why my makeup was pilling, using too bright concealer to cover blemishes, having face powder clump and ruin my entire base makeup, and placing aegyo-sal eyeshadow too low causing me to look like I had under eye bags instead of smiling eyes. I had previously resigned myself to not wearing any makeup because I looked worse with it on. I went to a concert tonight, rewatched your video as I was getting ready, and followed your instructions and tips step by step. This is literally the first time I've felt pretty in years. Thank you so, so much.
This is a game-changer!! So many ppl ask me for makeup help and I don't know where to start bc I've intuitively found what works for ME with practice. Adding this to the top of my list of essential videos to share with others!!!
Jessica this was SO comprehensive! I loved your unblended vs blended edits and comparisons. Seeing them side by side, the difference the placement makes is HUGE👏🏼👏🏼✨
This was like an in depth but quick tutorial with all the essentials and common mistakes, even things that I didn’t hear any beauty guru talk about back in 2014. Definitely saving this video to know exactly what to look for and avoid, as well as examples in case I’m lazy when I finally buy makeup!
Honestly, your makeup tutorials are the best because even though they're catered to a wide audience, they come with caveats like, "This might not work for you" and "Choose the technique best suited to your face shape" and that's the most helpful kind of advice.
This is such a good tutorial!! Nobody is doing it like you!!! You show what looks pretty and then you show what looks a hot mess because you dont want us out here looking a mess!!! And the editing perfectly illustrates what you trying to say to emphasize your point! And you look so pretty!
This is literally the most well made, detailed tutorial I’ve ever watched😭😭everything is so well explained and clear…the amount of efforts u put in is crazy…this is so helpful tysm😭😭

I really love the fact that it's the first video I find where they don't encourage to use fake lashes, they just give tips of how make yours look beautiful. I love this video and tysm for the tips!
this was amazing… i’ve been wearing makeup for over 10 years and still learned so much 🥺 and i LOVE how you always put the product names and their prices omg. and even the brushes!!! so so helpful ty for doing all this for us! your efforts are truly appreciated ❤
I appreciate that you provide a more affordable option alongside the fancier products, really helpful :) it’s hard to find a good beginner tutorial for makeup, thank you!
Beautiful! I can always count on you to tackle things I've personally questioned on myself with asian features. You stay coming in with visually pleasing and informative videos. I will never stop watching your stuff!
This is the most helpful tutorial ever!! I would've killed for it when I was a total beginner, finding someone with similar features to you is key! Thank you Jess, your makeup looks are my fave
This is the first video of yours I’m seeing and I am already OBSESSED. You explained so thoroughly, and the recommendations with different price points?? And the editing and video design??? I almost can’t believe I got to watch that for free. I already feel like my eyeliner and lip makeup are gonna be so much cuter on my face!!
The comparison photos showing different placements helped me learn so much!!! I was definitely placing my blush on the apple of my cheek like the beginner version.. People told me in high school they thought I had a long face, and its been a bit of an insecurity of mine ever since. I had no idea placing blush like that drags your face down- seeing the comparison shots, it makes total sense why. I went out tonight and tried out your recommendation to place the blush on top of my cheekbones. I got compliments and I feel like it looks much better. Thank you!!!!
Well, I’ve always been scratching my head about *luxdups* obsession with school bags and their practicality, but this video is adorable! Congratulations.
I must say, even after watching a lot of makeup content, there were so many new informations for me on this video. The water vs silicon based primer and foundations information is GOLD, I knew a few of my products wouldn`t work, but up until know I never knew why. Perfect!!
This is very informative, detailed, and really easy to understand. As a beginner I'm so glad that I have watched your vlog first before placing order make up. Thanks a lot!
I’m still a typical ZERO in makeup and I’ve literally watched hundreds of makeup tutorials for beginner. This ones the best out of all the videos I’ve watched, so much detailing and I love love love your colour palate!!!! Also you’re gorgeous, I kept saying that to myself the whole time🤍🤍🤍

And i love your editing so muchhh, it's cute and fresh!
Omfg thank you for doing makeup tutorials that suits asian faces. I’m asian as well and was looking for beginner tips and guides but almost all of them were designed by and for people with european/american facial features. I also loved the clear steps and 2 choices for each makeup tool - there are a lot of options out there so thank you for narrowing them down! The editing, music and aesthetics are also flawless and i think they suit you very well. 10/10 video everyone should subscribe
I would love to see a video on good circle lenses? I’ve been trying to learn how to do makeup since I’m a beginner but I’ve realized that many pretty eye looks are wrapped with a bow when used with a pretty/realistic circle lens!
This is so helpful, I didn’t realise my foundation was silicone and my sunscreen was water based. No wonder my makeup would look flaky no matter what i did! Thank you so much!
I rarely comment but wow I gotta say your tips on the aegyosal is so good! I’ve always heard to put the shadow where you squint your lower eye fat but it always ends up super unnatural for me when I do that. Now I know how to fix it!
This is so well edited - I love that you highlight what's important, don't waste time with "blabbering" but make it seem personal and in a relaxing pace. Such an amazing balance. this was fun to watch, thanks so much!
This is the best make up tutorial I've ever watched. Really informative, easy to understand, works for everyone, very very complete. As a very beginner in this journey, thank you very much!

Love this video! If you could do a video on blush placement that would be so helpful. I've been putting blush on the area right below my eye and I find it looks good for not elongating my face but sometimes I think putting them on the center of my face emphasizes like a whimsical fairy look. I'd like to understand the proportions and attractiveness of each placement!

tips: serum: skin needs to be well moisturised before makeup, better than primer
lip prep: lip oil is good for dry lips
foundation: pump it on back of your hand and swipe it on your face before blending, use a beauty sponge to bend
concealer: use very little because it is thicker and can emphasise texture
powder: pat it in and swipe it under the eyes, helps set the liquid materials
contour: use shade that looks cool toned to make more it realistic, jawline contour
blush: apply right on top of cheekbones and on tip of the nose
nose contour: start from brow bone and then blend it down, do bottom and blend, use powder to clean up the sides of contour
highlighter: apply using a very small brush on the tip of your nose and bridge
eyeliner: use brown pencil for beginners, blend it out with a brown eyeshadow, outline your eyelash line
under eye makeup: use brown shadow to emphasise the area around your eyes
curl your eyelashes by doing multiple times in each section
pinch your eyelashes together to help separate them and remove clumps
create hair like strokes at the front on the eyebrow and spoolie to diffuse them to make them natural
thank you 🥹💗💗💗

@@jodibbmoli9319 is she using those? i can still see her skin texture and hairs (which is normal ofc)
I recommend watching Alexandra Anele
@@jodibbmoli9319 filter where?
Idk why your comment made me smile😭I relate alot to it!
The way you explain things made this one of the most helpful makeup vids I’ve ever seen!! Thank you!!
Your editing is INSANE! It’s always so perfect and well thought out 🫶🏻😍
wow thank u sm 😭💖 that means a lot to me 🩷🩷
@@jessyluxe your so pretty too😫
This is a game-changer!!
Definitely saving this video to know exactly what to look for and avoid, as well as examples in case I’m lazy when I finally buy makeup!
so cute and helpful!!!!!
ok.... curling your bottom lashes is insane.
thank u cydnee hehe 🍒
Does the flip app still exist? I can not find it. @@jessyluxe
Genuinely the BEST tutorial I have ever seen. Actually helpful, shows you genuine examples, tips, tricks and even mistakes ❤ love love loved!!!!
This is literally the most well made, detailed tutorial I’ve ever watched😭😭everything is so well explained and clear…the amount of efforts u put in is crazy…this is so helpful tysm😭😭

this is the most helpful explanation of makeup and how you're supposed to use it i've ever seen- i think i actually kind of understand it now instead of being entirely lost. tysm!!
ive been doing makeup for almost a decade now but All of these tips are extremely useful and sometimes not commonly talked about!!!
ah thank u so much for watching even tho youre not a beginner 😭💖 im glad u still found it useful!
this is one of the best makeup youtubers i’ve come across! i’d seen 1 or 2 of their GRWMs and thought they were just so pretty!!!
but the information here is so well articulated that i can understand in 1 listen!

This is so good, first makeup tutorial that actually teaches instead of just narrating, there'es a huge difference between the two. I never leave comments but you deserve the kudos girl

I really love the fact that it's the first video I find where they don't encourage to use fake lashes, they just give tips of how make yours look beautiful. I love this video and tysm for the tips!
this was amazing… i’ve been wearing makeup for over 10 years and still learned so much 🥺 and i LOVE how you always put the product names and their prices omg. and even the brushes!!! so so helpful ty for doing all this for us! your efforts are truly appreciated ❤
i want to try this as a boy but i unfortunately i will have to wait to move out first...

I appreciate that you provide a more affordable option alongside the fancier products, really helpful :) it’s hard to find a good beginner tutorial for makeup, thank you!
this has to be THE most helpful makeup video on youtube… you’re great and what you do, thanks so much for sharing with the world!! 💗
this vid is sooo helpful😭 also i’ve been doing my aegyosal wrong and the way you explained it is so easy to understand. thank you so much!!!💖
Love the comparisons on common mistakes! This is probably the best beginner tutorial vid. Subbed!
I've been wearing makeup for over 13 years now and I very rarely find a video as helpful as this. Thank you so much!
you’re genuinely like just absolutely gorgeous like exactly how i’d want to look i don’t find many ppl id call a 10 but you look so good!!!
Also you’re gorgeous, I kept saying that to myself the whole time🤍🤍🤍
shes so calm its so comforting 🥹🪽🩷
This is for beginners but I’ve been doing makeup for years and I’ve now learned really important things and techniques that I was clueless on before. Thank you so much.

The intro and outro are so creative!!
wow, i've watched a lot of makeup videos, and ofc i got a lot of explanations from those videos but in this video you really gave me a bunch new knowledges about makeup, especially for the makeup base! thank you, Jessica for making this video easy to understand, i'd like to declare that this is one of my top favorite makeup videos. And i love your editing so muchhh, it's cute and fresh!
All the edits of what the mistakes will look like are honestly SO good thank you!!

ahh jessica! you're makeup tutorials are always so satisfying to watch!
ah thank u for watching them! (⺣◡⺣)♡*
I’ve been trying to learn how to do makeup since I’m a beginner but I’ve realized that many pretty eye looks are wrapped with a bow when used with a pretty/realistic circle lens!
yes! contact lens recommendations please 💗💗
Yes, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see where she got those gorgeous brown circle lenses! I could 100% watch a full video turtorial about circle lenses.
Thank you for this! I’m 33 and it was mindblowing to see some of your techniques. The best is that they aren’t difficult at all! I feel like trying 🥰
Ive seen multiple makeup tutorials for beginners and i can say this is the most helpful one ive seen! Thank you soooo much💖💖💖

imo the best makeup channel, I’m so glad I found u
This is the best make up tutorial I've ever watched. Really informative, easy to understand, works for everyone, very very complete. As a very beginner in this journey, thank you very much!
I know that using blush at cheekbones drags your face down.. but at 5:59 , the comparison is insane. GIRL YOU LOOK LIKE A WHOLE DIFFERENT PERSON⁉️🙇🏿♀️
I'm not into heavy makeup or wearing makeup often, but I know the basics. EXCEPT how the hell did I not know or even think about using primer and foundation with the same base. It's simple but it helped a lot, thank you
I used to make the mistakes you mentioned, and I just finished my makeup with your tips and omg I can tell the difference right away, I will keep practicing to get better at this❤
I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR THIS VIDEO🥹 seriously, you're our older sis 🙇🏻♀️

I currently watching True Beauty and I typed in makeup tutorials because the programme just inspired me to change my makeup. I can't believe you gave a shout out to the show! love this tutorial!
BRO THANK YOU SO MUCH I USED TO THINK I'M UGLY BUT AFTER DOING MY MAKEUP LIKE YOU SHOWED I ACTUALLY LOOKED CUTE LOL
i've never felt confident in my looks but i also was never confident enough in my skills to start learning makeup so.. i've never looked my best. this video was really helpful and i think i feel like i can try without being afraid, thank u sm :(
Love this video!
Omg I love this! Its literally only the third time I try to do makeup on myself during my whole life and I got so many compliments when I followed this tutorial!! Tysm!!❤️🤗
I love love looove the content of this video! I've been doing natural makeup for years but I definitely learned a few tips and tricks. I'm an advocate of using makeup to enhance natural beauty/features vs looking completely different -- which is why I love your tutorials!
Omgeee this has got to be the most objective and informative makeup vid ever!! Thank you!!!
As an artist I love how you instruct your viewers on how to properly place warm/cool tones and lighting! That was my biggest issue as an artist and it really helps when someone else visualizes it.
I had no idea about the importance of silicone or water based primers. Thank you so much!
This is actually really really helpful 😭 and the makeup looks so natural
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I love how you were so detailed in your descriptions of how to do things and why you do them. I’m going into my junior year of hs and I’ve only really used cc cream along with mascara and a light lipgloss for an everyday look, but since I’m switching schools ,which is a huge change in my life since I have to live in dorms, I really want to learn how to do it better!
And thank you for showing cheaper options! As a somewhat broke teen, I’m very thankful for it :)

Finally, a clear and fantastic explanation of aegyosal!!!!

After watching this video countess times (and many other of yours without actually trying the look), I finally followed along and I feel sooo good, thank you so much for this tutorial!! I like how I look without makeup but normally, every time I tried wearing more than just mascara and some nude lip tint, I felt ugly ngl x_x This has changed my entire view on makeup, thank you so much again! ♡
Thank you so much! I was thinking about changing up my makeup because what used to be flattering on me looks horrible now that I'm older. Love love love!
8:39 ALSO make sure you're doing the right eyeliner for your eye shape! Winked eyeliner does not look good on everyone. Experiment and try to figure out what works best for YOUR eye shape.
