WOW. I’m in my 30s and never ever saw the concept of a double lip verbalized anywhere. I avoid lipsticks for this exact reason. Thank you for sharing these tips! Can’t wait to try it out.
I didn't avoid but instead just smearing thin lip colour gradiently like those very popular Korean style gradient lips. It's always work for me when I don't know how to do a decent full lips on my obvious asymmetrical lips and also when my lips are of nothing, I look as if I'm sick LOL (my natural lips look kinda pale) But typical Korean style gradient lips is the opposite of the full lip she is showing in this video. Korean style gradient lips is actually using lighter lip colour starting by dotting the middle inner side of the lips, smearing them gradiently from most concentrated inner middle side to the edges of the lips and then followed by darker lip colour on the middle inner side too but way smaller area.
I’m in my 50s but I was today years old when I learned about double lip lines! This explains why a lot of my pictures would look weird. As a Black woman, I need to color correct around my lips first, but I am definitely going to try this! Thank you!
I don’t know if you’re still reading these comments but THANK YOU. I always felt like my lipliner and lipstick “bled” out or just didn’t look right but this changed the game!!!

Agree!! I don’t even use UA-cam for makeup tutorials but this tutorial is amazing and I’m liking and saving it in case i need other makeup tips. I know I look weird in lipstick but I don’t know if it’s because of double lip lines or because of my single lip line. Also i don’t own liner but I’m thinking about playing around in it now! Thank you Sarah!💄🥰
literally been rocking lip tint and tinted lip balm since i was 15 (i’m 22 now) because i thought i’d never be able to wear lip liner… 😭 this has changed so much for me… thank you so much.
Makeup honestly takes tons of study and practice. I have literally researched each section of my face and how to apply makeup to it for months. Brows, foundation, cheeks, eyes, lips, etc. never heard of this tho. I just know I can’t live without lip liner and filling in the cupids now is the BEST way to add volume.
My double lip line hack I discovered & backstory: I didn't know there was a word for this. When I first started using makeup I always filled in my "lip color" and then eventually started filling in my "lip ledge" instead. I stopped wearing makeup and would get really angry when I would fill in the pigment line because it looked so wobbly and asymmetric. I found out I could do my makeup faster and more accurately with one technique! I'll tell it to you. I saw an IG post that said lipstick looks better if you apply it from inside out in vertical motions rather than swiping side to side. I tried it and found that my "lip ledge" would make it so that it never gets on my face and stays on my lip. Now with this inside-to-outside motion I apply even red lipstick really quickly and accurately even while in a car! Sweep the lipstick starting at the center of your lips towards the lip line and let it brush off of your lip. It creates a really natural lip line that looks realistic even when the light hits it. My biggest makeup pet-peeve is overlined cupids bow where you can see the real line, or "ledge".
I’m 42 and my eyes teared when I applied lipstick the way you explained it 😢 I thought I was the only one that said I looked like a clown with lipstick but you have made me so happy! It looks great! Thank you, my dear
WOAH. Game changer. This feels like when I discovered that A) I have hooded eyes and b) hooded eyes are a thing and c) there’s a whole different way to do them! Ah. Feels so nice. I’m giving extra love to my lips today 😊😊😘
i just want to say you literally changed my life. I NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHY LIP LINER OR LIPSTICK LOOKED SO WEIRD ON ME!!!!! it was the ONLY thing i could NEVER GET! despite all of the videos i would watch. i was always a tinted lip gloss girlie bc it looked insane. and even worse, i have gorgeous lips! it’s not like it was already an insecurity - i love my lips! and now i love them even more and finally understand them!! thank you so much!!!!
Omg thank you so so so muchhh for thiss!! For years I’ve just thought my lip shape just doesn’t suit being lined over! I ended up gravitating towards lip tints to just tint my lips overall or just a bit in the center of my lips. But this was so clarifying!!! When you said drawing on your bottom outer lip line feels like you’re drawing on your face, I nodded so hard in agreement bcs that’s how I always feel when I line that part of my lips! Now I know!! And omg one side of my upper lips is rounder/plumper than the other too i almost squealed when you said yours was like that It’s like watching a tutorial custom made just for me 😭 thank youuuuuuu ❤❤❤
I’ve given up on western lip makeup. I’m starting to get more into eastern lip makeup where they usually use lip tints that make it look more fresh and natural.
What an absolute game changer!!! Obviously, I've had the same experience and at 38 years, I feel stunning in my bright red lipstick! Thank you, a simple but absolutely priceless bit of information.
I didn't realize this was a thing until I saw you video. Sure enough, even my thin, white-lady lips have a double line. I did your trick and it looked so nice! Thank you so much!!
I don't have a double lip line (as far as I can tell, anyway - the muscle SEEMS to line up with the pigment of my lips), but I have very thin lips and I have ALWAYS felt uncomfortable wearing lipstick. I tried your technique, and it looked amazing. When I first watched this, I wondered if my lips would actually look fuller if I didn't overline at the edges - I thought they would still look super thin. But this assumption was wrong; for the first time in my 42 years I don't feel self-conscious if I wear lipstick. I literally cannot thank you enough.
@@milenaforrest7111 thank you! I’m afraid just it’s genetics and a good lash curl 🤭 I do have a great (if I do say so myself) lash curler tutorial up if you’re interested ❤️
Omg I did this technique and I look kinda like a bratz doll but in the best, cutest way. Thank you so much 😍 I always thought there was something “wrong” with my lips, just like I thought there was something “wrong” with my deep-set, almond-shaped eyes. This knowledge is so empowering, especially for people of colour who are constantly alienated by the tutorials that only “work” for people with specific features that align with mainstream white beauty standards. Makeup should be for anyone who wants to wear it!
This makes so much sense. I love lipstick, especially brights, but have always struggled with the outer edges looking messy. I think that my issue is that not only does my my vermillion border not line up with the muscles exactly, but it’s also kind of diffused, rather than having a clean edge.
Wow. This blows my mind, I went to art school and feel like I should’ve noticed this with my own eyes! I always looked like a clown with lipstick so gave up, I will give it another go using your tutorial. I’m 39 btw 🤦🏻♀️
Loved your comment. I'm currently trying to learn how to do more complicated makeup than I used to do (I'm 32) and I always regret never attending any art lessons as I always think that having good eye for shadows, colors and details helps a lot for doing makeup.
I was hopeful when I started watching, and am now a believer - followed your guidance and I’m still in shock. This is why any lipstick I’d previously tried always looked strange around the corners/sides of my lips! Love the way it looks now.
OMG!!! GURL I JUST TRIED IT OUT & IT LOOKING SUCH A FIRE ON MY LIPS....I'll be never ever be insecure to put on lipstick....... YOU JUST CHANGED MY FKN LIFE
You saved my life with this video because I am a 33 year old girl who thought lipliner did not work for my lips because I have this double lip line problem but I did not know what it was until I watched your video! And my top lip is also different shaped and so I did not know what to do about it and I did step by step how you teach and explain each part of the lip is a game changer for me and I am SOOOOO GRATEFUL for you & I THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video- I am sooo happy and excited to start doing my lipstick and lip liner with my make up routine - serious game changer and life saver thank you thank you thank you (I can’t express how much this has helped me)
HOLY CATS. I don't have hardly any lip volume, but have a very defined cupid's bow on top & bottom; think like an early 1930's pout shape, but with almost no 3D-ness. (Yes, I am. A blonde, at that.) Until I stumbled across one of your shorts today, I always felt like I had a "blurry" lip line, but had always just figured I lacked a defined line because of my pallor. I'd never even heard of a double lip line. I literally paused the video to run & try this. Now that I knew what to look for, I'm amazed at the distance between my two lip lines. It's seriously the entire width of a thick lip pencil, like 3mm. Even though I only have pressed powder, no concealer or foundation, your technique made ALL the difference. It took me forever to figure out where on my mouth to cross from the inner lip line to the outer lip line, since I don't have much volume to go by; that definitely made it trickier. But I chose a lip color that would normally be very strong & dramatic for my coloring, & thanks to you, it's not giving clown at ALL! Thank you so much for teaching us this absolute GAME CHANGER of a technique!!!
Omg. This is life changing for me. I have this exact issue and always wondered why when I put on lip color, my lips never look right, even if I underlined or overlined my lips. Thank you!!!!!
OMG thank you so much for this! I have very big lips naturally and have always hated how I look with liner and lipstick, which is frustrating because I think my smile is my best feature and I want to showcase it with my makeup. This is exactly my issue with my lips! Thank you from the bottom of my 38yr old heart!!!
Wow. What a great video. 🤯 Totally new information . And you’re a great presenter. So nice to have a soft voice giving great info. I will folllow for more ! Xx
I’m 36 years old and You just changed my lip life!!! I literally shed a tear for all the wasted years. I know that sounds silly but it’s true. So happy you shared this and thank you!!! ❤❤❤
Awesome! Saw MUA Scott Barnes talk about this in one of his videos and have been doing it ever since! Your explanation is much more clear and concise. ❤
I saw a clip of this video on instagram. You helped me tremendously! My clown lipstick can even be seen in my profile pic on here 😂. My lipstick looked TERRIBLE my entire LIFE!!! I even started drawing over my cupids bow. I thought I was allergic to a food or something as I never heard of a double lip. You saved me on many levels. Great video!
Excellent video, thank you! 1st, you are absolutely beautiful & it is refreshing to see minimal make-up. 2nd, you have a very soothing voice, precise instructions & a very natural lip, without the heavy & exaggerated overlining. This video was on point & very helpful. I'm 53 & so excited to try this. I also have a double lip & I always felt like a clown!🤡
I was a model in the 90’s and to “support my modeling habit” (pay for my book) I was a professional makeup artist. I studied under some greats at the time and have been makeup obsessed for the rest of my natural life. I have never liked my lips done, this is absolutely why and I have beautiful lips. You have taught me the first truly useful and life changing piece of information since those days. I have known that “underlining” certain areas was much better for me but I never knew why and couldn’t be consistent. You answered why and now I will never mess up my own lips again. ❤❤❤❤❤
You remind me so much of my sister. Not just super beautiful, but super intelligent, and your kindness shows even through a phone screen. I wish you all the happiness and success in the world, love.
Thank you so much for this video! I've never heard of a double lip line up until now. I have wasted so much product trying to perfect my lip shape over time and it taking multiple hours for me to just give up. I immediately tried this and I got the perfect lipstick look within a matter of minutes. Thank you!🙏🏻💙
This just changed my life! I’ve watched Snitchery’s video too, but this is next level teaching. Your artistry and skill at explaning dazzle me. thank you a million times.
Wow!! I am 70 and didn’t know how to deal with my double lip that seems to be more prevalent with age. THANK YOU! I will be trying this hack in the morning for church!😮 DDecker
DUDE I have full but very round lips that also have this double lip line that you're talking about (never knew what it was before). Always have just popped on lip gloss and MAYBE some lipstick but NEVER lip liner because it just looked ridiculous and yes, like a clown. But I've always wanted to play with colors and liners, thinking that it was the color that was the problem and that I just needed to find the right shade (I literally have a dozen liners for this trial and error, and just gave up). I can officially say you've changed that game for me thank you so much. This trick looks amazing on me (and on you, obvi). Subscribing to you now!
I have really big full lips too I always wear a thick coat of my glossy Brite hot pink lipstick with high shine lip gloss and my glossy Brite hot pink nail polish makes me look so hot and super sexy! I love reapplying my glossy Brite hot pink lipstick in public,,,,,
AMAZING. You got it exactly. Always felt like a clown..didnt understand why it didnt look good on me like others. This totally worked. Thank you so much.
YES! Thank you! I've tried to describe this before, but I don't think I was understood. I have the double lip-line and I've said many times I look like a clown wearing lipstick. I have to be super careful and this is exactly why!
Someone tried to explain this to me via insta and I lost the video. But this tutorial worked SO WELL. I too never understood why my lips would look clownish. I knew about the border but never thought to underline one side and over the other. I got some of snitchery's colorpop set with me right now and it looks absolutely perfect. I wish I knew how this worked years ago. Thank you so so much!
When you said "omg I'm 30 and this changed my life" it felt like you read my mind 😂 this definitely helps so much. I've bought so much lipstick in the past thinking maybe I was getting the wrong shade or something and it always looks crazy. Now I know why! Thank you for this video!
Omg! Your amazing! this is truly something I've never heard before, ever, but I definitely struggle with. Everything you said makes complete sense! I'm 35 and have an extensive lip liner and lipstick collection, that I wish I would use. But I never wear any of it because of this problem! But I just didn't understand exactly what my issue was. Just knew it looked all wrong. I'm so glad you shared this and explained it so well. Like wow I'm so happy right now. I just wanted to thank you and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I literally have watched every lip liner/ lipstick tutorial videos and non have ever addressed anything close to this!! Genius! I would definitely love to learn about 3D lips also (something I've never heard of before) thanks again! If you have any favorite lip combos I would love to watch those too. !! ❤️
I can't believe what a change you made to your lips & how beautiful they are, (and beautiful before of course!), that combination of lip lining I've never heard of. Maybe because I'm a Brit?
With all due respect, when you have lips like yours, lipstick will look good no matter what! That said, I tried your trick and I feel like maybe I'm missing something - like, it makes my mouth look smaller than it is, and I have two little excess lines sticking out on each side where my mouth is, but seemingly no lip. But then if I try to extend the lipstick line to fit it, I still look weird. I think I really just can't pull off lipstick, lol
I've always done everything but the concealer double line... that was amazing!!! I'm almost 60 and my grandmother showed me the other tricks when I was about 16. 😊❤ you are beautiful BTW. Thank you for sharing this! I'll fs try it next time I put on lipstick! ❤
I have a double lip and somehow figured out this trick in high school before youtube or the internet was even around. My friends have been asking me to do their lip makeup for special occasions for DECADES. LOVE that you made this video! Spread the tricks and have confidence in yourselves :)
This is the best lip liner tutorial I've ever seen! I can't wait to try it. And also, I have a request: would you consider making another one about how to improve the look of the upper lip line? I have a thin upper lip so much so that there's not much of a 3D effect, but also, an almost non-existent vermillion border. I just have to make one up while trying to follow the shape of my mouth as best I can. And even worse, there's no "ridge" on my top lip to give it definition. I'm thinking of trying the lip flip procedure to see if that could possibly help. There has to be a better way! I'm 65 now, but my lips have never looked right with lip liner/lipstick.
THANK YOUUU, almost 24 and i never touch lipstick because of the clown look, now i can’t wait to try this technique!! i don’t even comment on videos, girl you’re saving lives 😭🩷
Soooo I've just tried this tecnique and the result is super good. At first I was a bit skeptical 'cause I thought it wouldn't work on my lips and that would have taken me too long BUT it's worth, it takes time and a bit of practice; my lips look very plump and put together, no more messy lipstick. Luv u for this tut
Oh my, that's the best ever video about lips makeup. I have double liplines as well and never heard of it before. Despite I watch a lot of makeup tutorials. Thank you ❤❤
I've always done this with any sort of tint on my lips, but this explains why it works. I just knew it looked more pouty and feminine on me, but had no idea about the double lip line reason. Great explanation, thank you
Oh my God this is so helpful! I didn't realize what I had was called a double lip line, but I tried this out today and my lips look AMAZING with lipstick. I never liked how lipstick looked on me unless it was like, super neutral and very similar to my lip color. But after trying this my lip makeup finally looks so good!
It’s the middle of the night and I’m sitting here in my pajamas putting on red lipstick… Thank you so much for this video! ❤ This is the first time I feel good wearing lipstick.
Thank you for this!! Same story as everyone else here. I never thought lip color looked good on me but I just didn’t know how to apply it. I found a color I love and I’m going to try this!
Oh my gosh this is so incredibly helpful & validating - and informative! It's like getting a diagnosis after years of not being able to figure out what's wrong! 😅 I can't wait to try this! Thank you!!
You are a godsend, lovely. I noticed I had a double lip line but never came across anything that addressed it. I've experimented on my own but you have helped me tremendously. Please keep up the wonderful work you are doing! I can see how you enjoy sharing your knowledge.
I'm 71 and lately I've just stopped putting on make-up which saddens me because don't appear 71. My lovely mum's genes, she was beautiful 😍 😊. So thank you, I've just watched your presentation on lip art , I've become a new subscriber and I look forward to learning further tips which will aid me to present my best self. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE, I HOPE THE WORLD 🌎 COMES TO IT'S SENSES.❤❤❤❤😊
OMG I was in an explosion in 2014 and my lips were also burned. I have smooth scars that make it hard to get my lipstick looking right. Thank you for this!!!
Wow!!! Thank you very much! I never new why I didn’t like to wear lipstick and now this video has opened up my horizons! Thank you very much for this valuable insight on double lip lines. I will defo try this technique!!
Omfg. This was a life changer. I was trying to figure out why black lipstick never looks good on me. But tried this in OMG it's such a huge difference. You are a lifesaver thank you
This was truly life changing!!!!! THANK YOU! I noticed my double lines yesterday for the first time in my entire life. Ran into This video at exactly the right time!!
i started doing this when i first started doing makeup- i used to also just put on lipstick and just use a q tip to wipe off wherever i didnt want the lipstick. this definitely helped me with lining though!!
I watched your video and then watched Snitchery and may I just say …yours made more sense, straight to the point, made a big difference to my lip lining this morning. Thank you ❤. Subscribed 🥰
I'm white and have a double lip line. Thank you for making this video! I've NEVER seen anyone else talk about this topic, and I really struggle with knowing which lip line I'm supposed to line!! Your concealer trick BLEW MY MIND. Your explanations are so good and clear! Girl, you rock. God bless you and thanks for the tips :)
Ok this was amazing! I have been a makeup artist for over 20 years and never seen anyone explain and demonstrate this in such detail and so perfectly. I do a version of this but I still learned something here, thank you 💖
Just like everyone else, I have struggled with this my entire life, and never wear lipstick because of it. I’m gonna give this a try but I’m also just so happy that you addressed something real that so many of us struggle with. ❤
I used to dance on stage, this is exactly how we'd put on our lipliner and lipstick before a performance. The slight contouring with lipliner is great for stage makeup. I don't do it for my daily look, but use the inner/outer lip line tip everyday. ...As a girl who had barely touched make up or heels until university, dancing taught me so much more than I ever anticipated 😂
Oh woow..I had this problem soo bad...thank u for solving that...imma try this real fast...🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️ P.S.I never came across a video that addressed this issue...so for me u are the first....much love to u❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Update:I was in a hurry to try this...I did it yesterday night....it worked...and today morning I did that again...nailed it to perfection.Thank u soo much...this worked for me...❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😊😊

YOU JUST CHANGED MY FKN LIFE
Some are just finding this out in their 30’s Sheesh, I’m in my 40’s and never cared to wear lipstick because of this.
Thank you Sarah!💗
🥺🫶🏼
Exactly!
Yesss!! She nailed it. Took me 5 minutes to get the red lips I always wished for but never dared to do. Thanks!
Awesome! Saw MUA Scott Barnes talk about this in one of his videos and have been doing it ever since! Your explanation is much more clear and concise. ❤
This video changed my life. I had no idea my lips could look this amazing. THANK YOU BEAUTIFUL STRANGER!😊
This was absolutely fabulous and so well explained! Thanks you so much.
Aw I’m so glad I could help!!💖💖💖
I could listen to her voice all day. So soothing
YESSSS! Lipstick looks good on my top lip, but when I filled in the bottom... boy, don't I look wonky. Thank you for this ❤️
Thank you so much for this video!
I have naturally full lips. This technique and concealer placement helped me not feel like a clown. Thank you.
I have really big full lips too I always wear a thick coat of my glossy Brite hot pink lipstick with high shine lip gloss and my glossy Brite hot pink nail polish makes me look so hot and super sexy! I love reapplying my glossy Brite hot pink lipstick in public,,,,,
What lipliner did you use? I love the color! Also such a great informative video, life changing 🤭
I believe it was Kiko in the shade grape!
☝️☝️ Everything she said!! And I'm in my 40's!!
I can't believe what a change you made to your lips & how beautiful they are, (and beautiful before of course!), that combination of lip lining I've never heard of. Maybe because I'm a Brit?
This was articulated very well and how you explained the concept with really good examples is impressive. Thank you!
Giiirrrlll, I’m 38 and no one has *ever* explained this to me. I’m so excited to try this.
Thank you ❤❤
Great video! As a MUA myself I've called them the inner and outer edges, but the double lip line sounds way cuter 😍
A makeup tutorial that teaches something new and is actually helpful. Revolutionary😍
But after trying this my lip makeup finally looks so good!
you should definitely keep doing more videos! it suits your personality and demeanor extremely well!
ty. 🌟
Wow, this woman is a true artist. I'm impressed.
Thank you!!
The concealer tip is a game changer, thank you for sharing!
Thank you I am 60 years old i tried it today wearing it at work just love the lip liners and lipstick it’s very helpful.😊
You are a godsend, lovely. I noticed I had a double lip line but never came across anything that addressed it. I've experimented on my own but you have helped me tremendously. Please keep up the wonderful work you are doing! I can see how you enjoy sharing your knowledge.
43 years old and this is BOMB. THANK YOU!
Girrrrrrl let me tell you how much I needed this tutorial 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I'm 71 and lately I've just stopped putting on make-up which saddens me because don't appear 71. My lovely mum's genes, she was beautiful 😍 😊.

This shade is soo pretty on you, please drop the lipliner I need it 😭😭
This is exactly what i needed to hear! I have double lip lines and had no idea where to line my lips. Thanks girlll !
i started doing this when i first started doing makeup- i used to also just put on lipstick and just use a q tip to wipe off wherever i didnt want the lipstick. this definitely helped me with lining though!!
I watched your video and then watched Snitchery and may I just say …yours made more sense, straight to the point, made a big difference to my lip lining this morning. Thank you ❤. Subscribed 🥰
This is life changing information. I've never been able to pinpoint why i couldn't get my lipstick to look right, and this is it. Thank you
I'm white and have a double lip line.
Have struggled with lip shape forever and this has been so helpful. Thank you for sharing 😊.
The most artistic method I have ever seen on lips 😮
Ok this was amazing! I have been a makeup artist for over 20 years and never seen anyone explain and demonstrate this in such detail and so perfectly. I do a version of this but I still learned something here, thank you 💖
Just like everyone else, I have struggled with this my entire life, and never wear lipstick because of it. I’m gonna give this a try but I’m also just so happy that you addressed something real that so many of us struggle with. ❤
Omg this is amazing I tried it for the first time and I’m blown away. Thank you!!!
You are so incredibly good at explaining things. So intelligent.
Oh woow..I had this problem soo bad...thank u for solving that...imma try this real fast...🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
P.S.I never came across a video that addressed this issue...so for me u are the first....much love to u❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Update:I was in a hurry to try this...I did it yesterday night....it worked...and today morning I did that again...nailed it to perfection.Thank u soo much...this worked for me...❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😊😊
Omg! I thought I was the only one with this problem. Thank you so much for this vid!!! 🥰
Yessss i love this! I love learning something new. I only wear lip liner, gloss and mascara. Wow thank you, when you see this❤️❤️
