Go back to my post on your other video on this for some important maintenance advice. Do this very soon. That variator is GOLD. Treat it like such and they last a very long time.
Grease is the most important thing to make them live. Along with transaxle oil. There are pivot pins in the center of the unit that should be oiled as well.
The beauty of this is having a Volkswagen engine there so many upgrade parts that you can put on it to increase his performance and reliability and these parts are cheap it will not break your bank account. I must admit I'm very jealous of you right now it was since I was a child I always wanted one of these I had no idea that they even existed still. " do you know of any others around for sale?. I live in the United States Louisiana 50 miles north of New Orleans it is very swampy around here this vehicle would be perfect for getting around in my hunting area in deer season.😮

Apparently this design is called a sno-trac and is still being built. They now use a diesel engine. But it seems to be almost identical. It seemed like the quote for one of their standard five colors is about $85,000.

This is soooo cool!! I think I need one. I have a VW Trike, and a VW Hot Rod . The Trike is a 1800 cc,The Hot Rod is a 2000 cc. They both are fun. 😅😅😅😅 Never seen, or heard the Snown Tank, now I have.

I think that sucker is great for a farm. Proper washing and check out all the issues. Probably ran and drove to its resting place at the garage it sat in. Not surprised it started and everything worked. good thing they kept it inside otherwise it would be a rust bucket in all the dampness over there.
Too bad someone removed the roof. Originally there was a canvas top that rolled up to either the front or the rear. The missing side windows is a shame as well. In winter you will need both.
Looks like a blast! I'll bet it's a beast in the snow. Beautiful countryside.
What I was thinking was to connect a hydraulic back hoe arm at the rear and use it for mining exploration.

It's funny that I saw this at random, because one of my projects is something similar; except built out of whatever out-of-the-bone-yard parts that I can scrounge up. I had no idea these even existed. Gives me ideas for my project. I'd definitely like an in-depth on the steering system, since my plan was to use a pair of open differentials for the drive axles and front axles, with the brakes on each side isolated and jerry rigged to an old steering system for actuation.
Not surprised she still runs; those old VW air cooled engines are tough. They definitely don't build them like that today.

Your tracks are way too loose. The front boggy wheel should be well off of the ground. They are easy to de-track until you tension them. Do this at the inside the rear wheel where the adjustment is made.

@VWFarm Currently got 2 out 3 locally manufactured VW. DMG was the authorized VW assembler here. They came up with a Sakbayan which looks like a country buggy from Australia. A Toro "sports" car looks like the SP2 from Brazil & a Trakbayan like a hormiga from Brazil, front mounted VW engine & front wheel drive! Want to trade?

Let's see what she looks like after a really good clean & replacement parts. Keep it or her under cover or in a big shed to protect against the elemenats of the bad bBritish weather we expect soon (WINTER ) Unless it will be put to work during that time of year. It's not fast but, speed is not everything as long as it does what it is ment to & keeps you very happy. 😁😉👍 But, a!ways keep it under a decent roof whe not in use to help it stop going to cop again & have it regular serviced either by yourself & son to keep cost down or by professionals ( could be too expensive though that way) to keep it in good working order. 😉👍

There is a good market for these in running condition. Most change hands without advertising, as private sales are the rule for ones in running condition. I turned down $15K for mine a few years ago. And they are not getting cheaper as people are becoming aware of them. Keep it as stock as possible as they are worth the most that way. Parts are hard to find for them, and can side line
a machine for some time while you hunt for the parts.
NEVER turn the steering wheel while stationary. Most have a metal tag stating that. If you do, you will break an aluminum casting that is a fuse to prevent real damage to the steering linkage.
That part is very hard to find.

I reckon I also had a matchbox toy version of this. I'm intrigued by the large pulleys in the engine bay. Looks a bit like a CVT transmission. Is that part of the variator steering?
