So no one else is gonna mention that the Japanese version Wolfwood is voiced by Reiner while the English dub is voiced by Bertholdt?

Please correct me if I am wrong… any amount of water is easily purified (turned into holy water itself) by adding a mere drop of holy water into it.
Means he can drink it as much as he likes, as he can just make more of the stuff anytime. Which, knowing Wolfwood, is probably how it ended up in that bottle to begin with. 😂
It's only natural that David is once again playing an unorthodox, gun-toting, foul-mouthed priest (i.e. Genjo Sanzo from Saiyuki). He honestly fits Wolfwood like a glove.

Why is no one talking about that David Matranga's voice as Wolfwood? I actually like it, it's not my favorite but it's not bad. I have high hopes for David as Wolfwood.
Update: Okay, so I just finished watching the series and I've grown more into liking David's take on Wolfwood so now it's my second favorite voice for the character.
Yeah, I can see why they went with him, like Orphen, Wolfwood is an orphan, they ran away from corrupt organizations, and they are both homeless drifters.
I think he's doing an excellent job so far.

This just has me thinking Sanzo from Saiyuki and I am happy.
It took me a few moments to adjust to his voice because it is a different tone for the character when comparing to the original voice actors (Jeff Nimoy in the main series and Brad Hawkins in Badlands Rumble). But then, I had to remind myself that Stampede as a whole is very different from the classic series.
That being said, I’m digging David’s Wolfwood so far. The gruffness adds a good touch. I welcome it.
I will admit having David voice Wolfwood seemed a bit off (since he voices Shoto from MHA and Bertholdt from AOT) but now I’m totally on board. ONE line legit had me sold-

Because the first thing I heard David in was AOT, all I can hear is Bertholdt, and it makes watching other shows weird, but 100x better at the same time.

I was at first expecting Brad Hawkins to voice Wolfwood, like he did in Badlands Rumble, but having David Matranga is actually very pleasant surprise.
If there's one thing he's good at, it's sending people to meet God.
Much prefer jeff nimoy’s wolfwood, but david matranga’s take on him sounds promising so far.

Yeah, sadly, it seems nobody from either the OG series, or Badlands Rumble, besides Johnny Yong Bosch are gonna be returning.

Wolfwold seemed more grim and less playful in this version so I’m okay with him sounding like that.

Totally not the voice I expected - would have guessed someone like Reagan Murdock given his register is a bit closer to the JPN take and unlike Matranga, he's not playing a major role/co-lead in a couple simuldubs already. Honestly might take some time to grow on me, especially since I'm going back and forth between the sub and dub each week haha.
That aside though, I have to say the Trigun Stampede dub team is doing a STELLAR job! Really loving the script adaptation and overall direction for everyone from the leads to background one-off characters. Probably my favorite simuldub of the season next to the (admittedly very consistent at this point) work on MHA S6.
Im looking to be positive here I don’t think the new voice is bad. Just gotta take some time to get used to it and appreciate it for what it is.
He is way better in the next episode when we get his backstory. I love David Matranga, but I wasn't really sold on his Wolfwood until that episode.

Why didn’t they just bring back Jeff Nimoy to voice Wolfwood?
He may be retired or doesn't do voice over anymore. The last time he voiced a character was in a video game back in 2020. But he hasn't done anymore voice acting since then.

@@peytonrabun5433 He was interested in reprising the role, and said if they wanted him, he'd be there. Funimation, now FuniRoll, if you will, probably didn't want to play ball. Same thing happened when Badlands Rumble was being dubbed; Funi contacted him and Dorothy Fahn about coming back, but in Jeff's case, he'd have to fly halfway across the country for a job that paid very little. He'd would've lost money reprising Wolfwood. When he asked to negotiate for more, Funi ghosted Jeff and had Wolfwood recast. Apparently, something similar happened to Dorothy, too.
And I already miss Jeffrey Nimoy's voice as wolfwood.

Honestly, I got Qrow Branwen vibes, especially at the end : "Wow there, no touchy young lady." But otherwise, yeah, sold ^^

@@sludgebeastt He was busy with other projects, just like in the original series; they're lucky they got him when they could. Its not even him in the Trigun: Badlands movie.
Okay what is with this iteration and spoiling character development right out of the gate. You got a clear sense of Wolfwood's wrongness pretty early out the gate in the other one, but it came secondary to everything else you learned first and Jeff's nasally sort of take really helped sell you on his goofiness. This badass voice + complete lack of care for his profession makes him a gunslinger first and a priest second, so there's just no development or intrigue at all. People coming into the series fresh deserve the same suspense fans had in the 90s.
Ngl dawg its oretty intriguing as it is now I don't know what the OG series was like but I think your dislike of Stampedes version of Wolfwood comes from him not being the OG one and judging from your critique of his depiction I whould bet that, that is the case
@@mrpotoo3772 - 'You've just got nostalgia glasses' is kind of a reductive way to discredit media criticism tbh. :\ I've got no problem with remakes, new character models, and even new character voices. I do have concrit for the way they leapfrogged his character development. Wolfwood is outed as a traitor right away here. In the original, you grow to know him as someone who is flawed but overall kindhearted. His layers get stripped away one by one as the story progresses. Here, all the information is just dumped on you without any sense of narrative suspense. It's not good storytelling.
I'm not saying the whole thing is bad, and I've enjoyed some of the eps since this post. But I really don't think they handled this well, and it has nothing to do with the OG.

After seeing this I am completely turned off from stamped. NICOLAS D WOLFWOOD was a good priest in terms of knowledge! This new remake is a total insult to his original characters faith, he definitely knew how to pray! Now they made him out to be a complete ignorant heathen. For the sake of preserving my most beloved child hood characters integrity I shall never watch this 3D animation in this lifetime.*swears on grave, One and only Nicholas D. Youu should read Trigun Maximum. Such a badass. Funny enough inspiration for this WW is closer to the manga than the incomplete 98 anime.
