Yep, here 5 years later. My Pop told me about this channel. I watched all the recent videos, so I'm watching the older ones. Keep doing you, Derek! I'll keep watching.
I am watching this because earlier today I watched you swap this engine out to give this car to your boy, Bailey. Coming back to your start on UA-cam it barely looks like you, but the voice is 100% you.
Very interesting to watch "early" Derek. Always was a good guy, but seems noticeably more relaxed today (2021) . Probably very difficult to do these early videos (not that they are now easy) and had a lot to struggle with (like "is it worth the time and effort to produce a one man show and spend the wife's window money on car parts?"). Enjoy seeing the progress and steadily increasing confidence.
This Derek never would’ve guessed he’d have not just one but two shops and end up In Tennessee with a shop full of lifts and a million subs. Oh and let’s not forget a full line of merch, plus running all the big events with a guy named Cleetus! (Who didn’t have much going on then either) congratulations Derek!
I started watching recently maybe a few months, I was about to watch the episode where Derek gives the camaro to his so I decided to watch this one first. Crazy the evolution of Derek and the show.
Wow! 2:13.... This has to be the funniest thing I’ve hear this year. ‘’The guy said it ran...He had one eye. And I trust him.. ‘’ Dude I wish you where my neighbor for real.
I’m currently deployed and have been sending your videos to my wife, I’ve been using them to explain starting old vehicles so when I get home we can start our projects together. I have an extremely rusty 1969 camaro and since I’ve been gone I bought her a 1987 Jeep grand Wagoneer that hasn’t started in the past ten years and your videos show all the steps I’ve been trying to teach her over the phone. I will be videoing both projects start to finish.
You've given me motivation to start our 65 Malibu SS with a 327 after sitting for at least 20 years. My Dad is getting up in age and I'd like to get it going before....well, you know. Wish you were closer to look over my shoulder!
Entertaining, educational, and a channel you can watch with the kids. This guy has the perfect channel for anyone. He should have millions of subscribers.
I have been watching VGG since the very beginning and I have come back to the very first of the Awesome VGG channel to tell anyone wondering if they are not sure what to expect. You are going to get the very best car community channel on UA-cam. Derek, Jessica and boys what a fantastic achievement you have made from VGG / LODGE.
Been watching for years... realized there's prolly old vids I've never seen so I came here to the BEGINNING! Look how far you've come and the success you've had! I proudly wear my VGG merch everywhere I go! Truly, my favorite channel on this UA-cam thing! Keep them spark-o-lators sparkin' bro! I'd love to be your neighbor! Boise, Idaho is kinda far though!
I found VGG’s episode 1 SBC build (shoe laces and Brasso crank journal polish trick) back when I was doing my TBI project. I’d just finished watching all the videos from a guy who goes (went) by Capone_Auto. Dude was brilliant if somewhat troubled. I needed more satisfying SBC build videos for zen pleasure and VGG hooked me from the first episode. I’ve been watching since the beginning and it’s the best part of my week when the new episodes drop, ever since. I’ve always done everything I can for everybody I can at little if any cost to them, whether it’s cars or computers. Just my values. And it’s my honor to watch Derek do the same wherever and whenever he can. It’s been a great journey with VGG, hope good things continue for this channel and the Bieri family.

I didn't know about your UA-cam channel until you got a motor trend and I've been watching your UA-cam stuff since figured I'd start at your early stuff and work my way up the list watching your videos remind me of hanging out with my pops at our shops over the years
@ViceGripGarage Derek, while waiting for the next video to come out, I decided to sort your videos by the oldest first, and come all that way back here. When I saw Bradley, I actually thought I was looking at Bentley, and then realized this video was 6 years old; how time flies. You have come a long way my friend, mainly with the work space for your project cars and trucks. Keep up the good work brother. Your videos have taught me so much about restoring engines, and I always look forward to every video that you and the family, to include the cat, put out.

I'm so glad to see 6 years later it all proved to be a success, well deserved success Derek. Thanks for bringing us along for all these years.
I just realized that this is the same Camaro Derek just gave to his son a couple of videos ago!! (Nov 2022 I think). So very cool to see this get given to him all these years later!
Just after finishing watching all your episodes from new to old over the past 4 months, kept me going through many a work lunch break and nights drinking cool snacks, don't think iv ever laughed as much at UA-cam. Brilliant work derick.
If I'm not working on my own projects and need a little break I turn this on. Solid gold. Gets me motivated to get back in the garage and get back at er'. Great job Derek keep em comin.
True VGG fashion... too little time, barely enough money, just enough parts to make it gooder. aaand yep shel-eat! Glad I found this little gem, Derek just seems to never disappoint a feller!
The '69 Chevelle vid popped up in my suggestions; I subbed immediately. The comedic value alone is worth a sub. Thought I'd start from the beginning with VGG and am not disappointed. Here's to four years of catching up. ;)
A guy can not get enough of VGG lately so I did the smart thing and started at the beginning. Watching from the start is like a guy stepped into a time machine. You know how a smell a song can take you back to your first time with it? Getting the same feeling here, niceness. Thanks Derek, Jess and Kids.
Absolutely love the way you put the thing-a-ma-bobit......into and over the who-gee-whats-it when the digikal readings are not in spec. Well Done Sir.....Well done indeed.
This is genesis. So interesting to see the progression. Much better vid quality nowadays from a guy, but the sense of humor is the same. Congrats on the success, love the channel.
Hey, I've been subscribed for a few years. I like coming back and looking at these early Derek videos. Your personality and style come through but I love where you are now. Great job over the years and all my best on many more projects to come.

Have been watching a couple of your random videos over last week. Now im going right back to the start and wstch them all. Keep them coming there fantastic. Better than anything on tv. Slainte from Eire 👍
Been watching you about a year now, wanted to go back and start at the beginning but this vid is as far as I could go.wanted you to know I love all your videos. Your the man, man. Keep it up
The difference from this to your current content is awesome man, it’s come a long way. Love the dedication to the passion as well. Definitely inspiring me to get on my obs Chevy project sooner rather than later.
I decided to come this video out from the future as well. Good to see a fellow time traveler in the archives. Same guy with a little more glitz on his newer videos.
Been watching for a couple months now and decided to go to your first episode(to see how things have changed) and good sir, you are still awesome 👌fantastic channel and person
Derek - I've been watching your videos for a long time. I've learned a lot from you. This video inspires me because it shows me how far you've come in only a few years. I just started my channel and I'm inspired by watching your progression. From a feller Tennessean.
It is so much fun, reliving memories of what my life was like 30-40 years ago. Throwing in a junkyard engine on the weekend, so I would have a way to work 50+ miles, on a Monday morning! So Many Times!! Thanks Derek!!
My grand father had a old 1930 model A hard top4 seater. We used it to go fishing in the back woods of Mississippi. The windows were gone and he had chicken wire on the windows to keep the chickens out. What I remember most is when we were way back in the woods far from home grandpa rand out of gas. He poured moonshine in the tank, It backfired and ran like hell. Never seen that old car go so fast.
amazing how far a feller has gone in 3 short years, congrats guy! just goes to show all the other fellas out there that ya gotta start at the beginning and see where it goes, love ya brother!
I had a 307 in my ‘84 Oldsmobile delta. I spun a bearing in it and continued driving it for 6,000km with a knocking engine. Motor had well over 300,000km on it. I bought the car with an original 58,000km. Very tough motors for sure.
Just watching this its 2022 n wow uve came a long way but still great content just dont let the hype get to your head. Seen it happen to so many channels i loved n lost.
@@ViceGripGarage Well, I am glad you did. It's one of the best out there. I don't know a lot about cars, but I want to learn. You make it very entertaining!

Been watching for a while now, but never went back to the oldest videos. I love the fact that in the first 3 minutes I’ve already heard things like dealio, digical, and pure sarcasm 😂😂 I figured it was something that had developed over time but clearly that’s just good ole ‘Factree’ Derek that we all know and love. Damn, lol. Your kids are lucky to have you as a dad.
Yup came all the way down the old list here to see how you started similar but your much better now either way thanks for sharing always stay the same at your base with the family orientation you have brother.
Dude you are the greatest UA-cam sensation I've ever watched in my life I truly do love watching the things you bring back to life they deserve the chance that you give
I am so glad that you have grown so much as a video creator!! This video is not bad boy no means. But you have come to interact more with the viewer and I like that. Keep up the good work buddy!!!
Had to set the wayback machine for early Vice Grip. Same guy. He's just come a really long way in a pretty short time. Bradley has too for that matter!
I think it's awesome that you did what was clearly a two day job in 27:46. Also, for future reference, I have found those type of engine rebuilds are best done in the car, doing it outside the car, you sir are a pro. You should be getting royalty check from Hilfiger plumbing. Keep the vids coming bro, and keep the next generation in the garage. AWESOME.
Good tip. In 1989 an old mechanic showed me that but I took the handle completely off. I keep screw driver just for that. Also, great to see you got the little dude working too. Awesome!!!
Hi Derek im from a small community on the island of newfoundland Canada and grew up working on cars, trucks and heavy equipment.. I Love your channel ! , love what you do ! Very relatable to us backyard mechanics Funny as hell I impatiently for new episodes! Keep it up brother!
just started with this program and I guess I am late for the party...I am a member and have a shirt and hat that I am very proud of....wish there was a chance to sit and talk to you
Well done Fella and Fellet, I was just about to settle in to watch your latest video. But stopped at 21 seconds to watch the first and second episodes in full. Keep it up and also any of the behind-the-scenes that never made it for all your builds and maybe an episode of all the things that ever went wrong or didnt work out with some couch commentary from you all.. Great idea for marketing your channel. It's a shame we can't get your tv show from Motor Trend in Australia. Hope to take a look at that as well 1 day. Chris (Canberra, Australia)
Did you come all the way back here, because there wasn't the usual Friday night drop but needed some VGG and decided to go way back? That's what I did lol.

Your son is going to be a top notch mechanic by his early 20's. Good for you to work with your boys, father/son time is important. 😊
I've been a Vice Grip enthusiast for years and didn't know it! Some years ago, I had Dodge Aspen Super Six with a burned valve. Instead of doing a real valve job, I just took the head off of a 225 that was headed for the scrap heap and plopped it onto the Super Six. Decided to watch this way back in time video and what I treat. Wow we all change over time, but Derek is just the same as far as his car passion.
You’ve come a long way sir. Watching these old videos between uploads is a treat.
Yea, I had to come back to the first one too, so wild how much has changed.
Here in Sept 2024. Betcha don't miss the 'ol garage too much eh fella? Great music choices in this one!

Nice trick with the slotted screw driver and drill to pump up the lifters and prime the system through the distributor port @ViceGripGarage
Dude you are the greatest UA-cam sensation I've ever watched in my life I truly do love watching the things you bring back to life they deserve the chance that you give
Thank you Donald
Watching this today...9/12/2019 Got plenty to watch still. This is my favorite channel hands down!!!
Thanks bernard
your son dont see it yet, but he is lucky he getting hands on with his dad I had to learn the hard way, way to go dad
You gained 300 subscribers since I started watching an hour ago! Nice to see your channel grow. Keep the videas coming man and thanks!
No thank YOU!!!
The lean mean wrenching machine that is an early Derek of VGG. This should be shown to kids in history class.
Such a hopeless addict I am going back and watching all your videos all over again...
Found your channel about a week ago, wanted to see the beginning. Wonderful stuff Bro.
Glad I hopped back to watch this B4 the latest video of Derek getting it in "good" working order, to surprise his son Bailey with it!
Wow! You got a great kid there. Patient and hard working.... rare to see that today. Keep him in more videos!
AWESOME.
Haha. Thanks for watching!
Good tip. In 1989 an old mechanic showed me that but I took the handle completely off. I keep screw driver just for that. Also, great to see you got the little dude working too. Awesome!!!
Restoring my chevy truck right now with my 2 sons it's a great thing!
Awesome
I saw you on my recommendations and then peg gave you a shout out. Subscribed. I love your sense of humor!
Thank you!
Hi Derek im from a small community on the island of newfoundland Canada and grew up working on cars, trucks and heavy equipment..
I Love your channel ! , love what you do !
Very relatable to us backyard mechanics
Funny as hell
I impatiently for new episodes!
Keep it up brother!
Me too on all of the above!
just started with this program and I guess I am late for the party...I am a member and have a shirt and hat that I am very proud of....wish there was a chance to sit and talk to you
Well done Fella and Fellet, I was just about to settle in to watch your latest video. Chris (Canberra, Australia)
i just did the same thing
I love rewatching this episode!!
A fella sure has came a long ways. A1 since day1. Keep them coming
Did you come all the way back here, because there wasn't the usual Friday night drop but needed some VGG and decided to go way back? That's what I did lol.
Yea plus I like that Camaro 😂
Love how Bradley helps and looks like he knows what he is doing
