EVO Trailing Arms on a Jeep Gladiator Truck Allows for BIG Travel and can Bomb Across the Desert

- If bombing across the desert is your idea of off-road fun, you really need a suspension system that can take the abuse of driving hard and fast over rough terrain and soak up the big hits that you're sure to get from taking on whoops. And, it's for this reason that Cindy and I decided to take our then, brand new Jeep JT Gladiator to Off Road Evolution and have them completely transform it with EVO long arms and a double throwdown suspension system. Unfortunately, at the time, this was only available for the front but now, they offer an awesome solution for the rear that compliments it perfectly - trailing arms!
As you may have seen on our recent SEMA video, this new trailing arm system does come complete with a new 40 gallon gas tank, a triangulated 4-link design and King 3.0 coilovers and triple bypass shocks that allow for 22" of vertical travel! And, in this video, you'll get to see us testing it out for the very first time, out in the Mojave Desert and over some really big whoops.

I expected it to run good but wow, he was flying on those whoops...and they were huge
very impressed 👍
Glad you liked what you saw :)
Holy cow! That's impressive. Even going 50 mph on a washboard road like this with big whoops is no easy feat. Definitely need the right suspension setup to do this.
Glad to hear you're liking what you see :)
Dang it Eddie! After all these years of watching your channel and your jeeps evolve into these beautiful rigs, i think I'm going to have to go and get a gladiator for myself.
LOL - it really is an awesome platform to work off of.
I don't think I stopped smiling the whole video
LOL - awesome. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
Love a Sema build that’s actually functional 🔥 This is right up the road from my house, those whoops are a lot bigger than they look in the video 😂
Glad you like what you see and YES, the video doesn't do the whoops justice!
Holy crap! That is insane!!! Congrats to you guys and Mel! Nicely done! 🤩
Thanks! And yes, it really is insane how awesome this rig with trailing arms is.
Mel does great work. He built my JL and I continue to enjoy it and get nice comments from people during my travels. Glad you are enjoying your Gladiator and hope to see you on the trail soon.
Glad to hear you're happy with your JL and yes, be great to see you on the trail.
ripping! that's alot of weight throwing around like a troughy truck! and straight axle at that! 🤟 good stuff, can't wait to see it on the trails!
It really is scary how fast you can get going in this big heavy truck now.
Epic build. Mel always with the cutting edge builds.
Awesome to see how far y'all continue to grow!
Seen the JL/JT platform roll and it's pretty stout.
Stay safe out here!
Thank you. Glad you like what you see.
Been having a shitty week and then a new Wayalife video pops up and oddly… week just got a whole lot better. This thing was rad before… can’t wait to see it again like this.
Glad to hear this video was able to help make a bad week a little better. Hope things only continue to get better from here.
amazing shots of the gladiator! looks like so much fun!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed our video.
That looks like a lot of fun!!!! Awesome work Mel!!!
Oh yeah it is :)
That looked like a helluva lot of fun! You all be flying down that road! Heck yeah!!
Crazy insane fun! Glad you liked what you saw :)
I don’t think before seeing this video I have ever thought man that jeep can outperform my own. But my jeep could never ever come close to going 60 mph over whoops like that. Extremely impressed.
Glad you like what you see.
Awesome build!
I'm glad you like it :)
The big smiles and laughs say it all!❤❤
Oh yeah, you just can't make this stuff up. Hope you're doing well my friend.
First-Damn that rig is sweet! Second-I heard the outta the box comment, so either the front is at full droop or the front rebound needs to be a little faster for those speeds. It's a little hard to tell in the video. Either way it's truly amazing to see a Gladiator run like that. 👍 👍
That was awesome, so impressed what those guys can do at EVO.
Mel and his guys at EVO work wonders for sure :)
Saw it at SEMA and got the build specs from Mel; it's impressive. It's a good looking package.
Glad you got to see and appreciate it in person!
I did not expect you to thrash on it like that! Impressive!
LOL - I prefer to say that we were using it for what it was built for 😎
What an awesome Jeep. Good luck with it. Stay safe.
Thank you.
Man, maybe I'm tormented from having been on one too many bad roller coasters in my life, but being shaken around like that looks like it would be really tough to enjoy. Mel and his crew have built an incredible rig, I would never say otherwise. I guess I just am struggling to see the appeal of an activity like this.
But hey, to each their own though. I'm glad you guys are happy with it!
Clearly, it's not for everyone but there's a certain kind of thrill about driving hard and fast over terrain that should be driven hard and fast over. The danger is real and you can feel it. Also, while the ride would be bone jarring in most Jeeps, the suspension on this does an amazing job of soaking up the hits and making the ride comfortable.
Absolutely love it. Great job!
Thanks so much!
Impressive JT! Well done everyone!!
Thank you. Glad you like what you see.
I could not stop looking at that lose winch cable bouncing around. It was killing me. Lol
Amazing Jeep. Wow
LOL - sorry. Someone was clearly playing with our winch at SEMA. We pulled it in later that day after looking at some of the clips.
That is the most epic Gladiator that’ll ever overland. It’s awesome. Overkill Overlanding. Lol
Awesome! Been waiting for this video!
Hope you enjoyed it!
One of my favorite JT of all time.
Happy to hear it :)
Excellent Job!
Thank you
Excellent as usual!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
There are no words!!! Simply amazing! 🤯🤯🤯
Awesome! Glad to hear you're liking what you see.
Been waiting for this one and wow!!!! Will Evo be putting out a complete kit? I need this in my life! Drove my Mojave to Glamis from Florida and was kinda bummed out on the performance on the whoops. This will rectify that in a huge way!
Oh yeah, this kit would have made your trip to Glamis a lot nicer.
Wow! That’s just naughty!!!😂 definitely a well put together set up!
LOL - glad to hear you like what you see :)
Dang for a second i thought you guys were going to hit that big hill at the end lol! Supper cool regardless
What fun! Awesome work. And understandable comment: "without a cage." 😁
LOL - oh yeah, you can really get stupid fast in this Jeep now and one mistake could lead to a world of hurt.
Now this is freaking awesome 👍👍👍
Happy to hear you liked what you saw :)
That’s awesome! Looks like it’s working great.
Hey my friend, long time no see! Yes, Mel really nailed it with this setup.
That is so amazing to do that on those big ole heavy 42's and it sucked it up like a trophy truck. Hopefully I'm next for a test and tune. I'm chomping at the bit for 5 months now. Should be this week!
Awesome! You're gonna love it 👍
Nice upgrade happy for you.
Thank you. Been waiting a long time to get it.
Front looks like it could use some tuning and some more uptravel.
Cool build for sure!
The front only has 12.5" of vertical travel. The rear has 22".
I hope the build video is on the works. Love your gladiator, guys! 👌🏽
Unfortunately, we had a lot going on during most of the build and wasn't able to film it. Really sorry about that.
I think an ever so slightly stiffer spring or valving in the front would make it perfect... but that is just nit picking from what it looks like on video. Probably not worth messing with being how good it works already. Looks insanely fun.
Mel and the gang at EVO are second to none!
👍
Whoa im cancelling my side by side and getting this suspension!!! Amazing!!!!
LOL - I would too. With this, you can drive to the trail in comfort, AC, stereo, wheel it hard and the drive home again and take it to work or the grocery store after.
Wow! That's awesome guys. ✌️
Thank you so much 😀
badass rig!!
Thank you.
wow
nice and great video sir 👍👍👍
Thank you. Happy to hear you enjoyed it.
Mel seems like a genuinely cool dude.
So badass!!
Take my money! Baddest Gladiator around. Great video. I’ll be buying that auxiliary fuel tank as soon as it it available 👍
LOL - awesome
That is one impressive rig there sir !
Thank you :)
Build it! I had a two door 1988 Jeep Comanche, best vehicle I ever had!
Bad Ass Eddie!!! Hope to see it in the desert one day.....
Glad you like what you see and it would be great to meet you some day.
perfect setup!
We're super happy with it.
Well you’ve got the go fast trophy truck side down. I look forward to watching you crawl with the new rear setup now!
Crawling should be better being that we now have so much more travel in the rear. We'll show it but I can assure you it'll be HUGE flex.
@@wayalife oh I know, I just want to see it!
Man, what a rig!
Glad you like what you see :)
Wow Eddie...just wow
LOL - kinda how I still feel too :)
That's freaking awesome 👌🏼 👏🏼
Glad you like what you see :)
That looks to be a great rig for prerunning!
It's definitely built for it now 👍
This is insane. Even by my standards!😍
LOL - glad you like what you see :)
Dude it's running sweet!!♥️😁🤙🌻
Thank you. we love it.
This is badass!!
Glad you liked what you saw :)
Whow, never seen this before on a Gladiator. Want one 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪💪💪💪💪💪💪👍👍👍👍😍😍😍😍😍
It's pretty much the first time it's been done on a Gladiator. Glad you like what you see.
That is just totally amazing what these gladiators are capable of doing when great parts are put together!! Sounds awesome too!! Did you change it up from the dynomax crawler setup?
We just removed the muffler. Still have the Dynomax bullet on.
I need this setup on my gladiator. Thing is awesome 🤩
LOL - happy to hear you're liking what you see :)
"......It's just stupid!" 😂😂😂
LOL
I need this for my Gladiator!!
LOL - it really is awesome.
Wow! I think a quality roll cage is due next! I would hate for it to cross up at speed and go cart wheeling without one. My Gladiator can only dream of one day being as cool!!
LOL - we are talking to Mel about it now. You really can get going scary fast in this thing now.
so amazing love it
Glad to hear you like what you see.
That's sick!
Glad you like what you see 😎
That was really cool.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
The fact that this works with a tonneau cover too is so sickkkkkkkk.
LOL - yup. That is a perk for sure.
God damm!!! That is impressive. Love it.
Awesome! Glad you're impressed with what you see :)
Amazing Jeep
Thank you
From a JT owner that's a badass truck, if the front had more travel it would sweeten the deal for sure.
Up front, you can technically get more droop but drive line bind is the limiting factor.
Wow Fantastic 😁
Thank you. Glad you like what you see.
Well that was different. Awesome runs. Nothing like speed man...lol
Glad you enjoyed
@@wayalife it was great....love speed..lol
A simple JKU rolling 35’s is all we desire. Heck a Willy’s with 20 some odds totally crushes the cool factor.
I'd like to see how it performs out on the rocks. A lot more testing And videos hopefully coming soon
We'll make a video of that.
That is crazy (the good kind) - was asking about this not that long ago on the forums glad to see its out there - so now us JT guys have a true long arm option. I am curious as to how well this will do on the rocks (articulation).
Well, the rear has 22" of vertical travel. I think it'll do okay 😁
@@wayalife Really hard for me to even imagine having nearly 2 feet of travel lol (I think you mentioned that you guys dialed it back a bit for the 42's (the travel)). Still would love to see it flexing out - looking forward to future videos of that.
@@joewolfe642 Hope to get some rock crawling and flex videos going soon.
The only terrain this truck can’t handle would be where it physically doesn’t fit. So awesome!
LOL
Pure Awesomeness
Thank you. Happy to hear you enjoyed what you saw :)
This looks amazing!!! Are you going to share a cost for a kit like this?
yesssssssssssssssssss
awesome stuff!
Thank you :)
Mel… “we shouldn’t be doing this…. Laughs” fucking awesome.
LOL - right? 🤣
Love this thing
Glad to hear you liked our video.
Wow !!!!Great!!
Thanks!!
So cool!
Glad you like what you see.
That was so cool
Glad you enjoyed it.
LOVE IT :D
Glad to hear it :)
Holy crap this is beautiful… my toxic trait is thinking that I can do this with my jt that has 2.0 fox shocks 😂
LOL - you can always try 👍
Man, you remind me of an old friend Ithat used to work at on command with me. I’m not sure if it’s you, but if it is please reach out by the way awesome build that Gladator is unbelievable.😊
Sorry, I don't think I'm the same guy but glad you liked the video.
Dang it! Not even done watching the video and I’m selling my house, buying a gladiator and upgrading to these mods! I’ll figure out the housing situation later! 😂
LOL - too funny
Wow amazing!!! They offer same solution type dor JLU?
Currently, this is only offered for the Gladiator.
Absolutely incredible. Can you please add a link to the Evo suspension kit?
The suspension system you see is not on their website or at least, at this time. You need to call them to get your hands on it.
@@wayalife ok. Thanks. Enjoy the trails
Bad Ass bro...Enjoy!!! 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thank you
Great video, so now roll cage and back to MoTech for an LT swap and all set. All kidding aside beautiful truck, most of ours dream truck right there. Would be interesting if you could run that course with your JT and then a stock Mojave to see the difference.
We've driving this length of trail in a Mojave before. You could only do about 25 before you started bottoming out hard. Cage and Motech are definitely on the to do list.
Love it! Would this work on my new Rubicon 20th Anniversary 4Xe? I’m really digging this!
This kit is only made for the Gladiator
Wow! Did Cindy take it for a run? I have seen her enjoy speed in previous videos.
Oh yeah, she loves it.
Wow!!!
Wow.
