@ i wouldn't say "interactive", but rather just bad. she doesn't really have any corner pressure anymore with the sword toss changes. it's just throwing the sword into instant strike/throw then having to stall for a while until you can get the sword back.

Man i hate that they removed axl's charge inputs, I like charge moves and now my best option for a charge zoner is to play leo incorrectly. It sucks how so many charge characters get flattened out to motion characters and yet we so rarely get new charge characters/moves in existing series. And it's really sad for character feel as well.

@@defianthound407 A lot of his combo routes are gone now and he has an extremely linear gameplan of just spamming 5P and 2P now. It may be more consistent put there's easier counterplay to him now when he was already struggling and everybody else got insane changes. Also rensen is not something you really want to use up close as it has a long start-up and is punishable on block.
Gio's going to be a pretty decent high-mid tier as she always is. I think her dash is just so good it's hard for things to hit her core gameplan really hard. I'm more surprised they haven't accidentally made her top tier once yet.

As I'm sure you've heard every Pot player say, I didn't want buffs. I was happy with my mid tier that had a high skill ceiling I could strive (hehe) towards. He went from one of the higher skill ceilings to one of the lowest. And with the buffs to pokes and Garuda he will be EVEN MORE mindless at a beginner level. Just sad all around, never has the monkey's paw curled so hard.
After reading every comments I have concluded that every character other than baiken died in an accident on the surgery table (Faust was doing surgery on himself)
As an xrd ram player, I decided to boot strive up with this patch, and tbh I think she's pretty nutty. Dauro can go into microdash cl.s at just about all ranges, K combos into Dauro lol. Even if you don't wanna mess with that, you can do K,6H, 214HS off Dauro, with no wall. Incredibly easy confirms for around 130 on Pot, meterless. Depending on routing, you can calvados instead of 214hs and push 200 on pot. I only tested this stuff on pot and Ky, for like 10 minutes, so I'm sure the strive ram players will find out even crazier stuff. Seems incredibly strong, and that's before going into the 236S juggles.
fun fact 236s basically cant be interupted by anything. think the opponent will dp on wakeup? throw 236s! ram will get ch and launched away, but the sword will continue and launch for a full combo.
Making Fuujin Rin hard knock-down is such a bad change. I know it’s faster and it does higher damage, but they took his ability to combo off of his most important offensive special move away and said “if you want to combo with Fuujin, use the Nagiha.” But now I can’t use Nagiha to start combos without RRCing it, so therefore what Arcsys really wants to say about Anji is that he shouldn’t do good damage off of a normal hit unless he spends meter.
As a Millia main, I never really felt Kapel being too rewarding though granted Ive been floating around Floors 8 and 9 for a solid while now. The air backdash is not quite as good as I had hoped it to be, though its shown its utility in more than a couple situations. Buffed damage and defense really helps the character too, shes not quite as much of a barrel of nitroglycerin, but her matchups against, say, Potemkin which were already pretty dicey are just going to get worse now thanks to the increase to damage he got (I also play Potemkin and Bedman? for my other characters). Bedman's changes are weird because, sure, the Call 4B9 nerf was probably warranted, I'm not sure how much the buff to the Error followup helps, not at the moment. His other specials though are fantastic now, but I kind of feel 236S's error goes a lot shorter of a distance now. Might be cap though, testing is needed.
I also don't agree with the j2K nerf for Faust. It's annoying and "oppressive" because that's honet to god our best normal that doesn't feel like Faust is sticking his entire hurtbox to the opponent. If they made his far slash and 2h safer to throw out, hurtbox wise, as compensation and/or reduced the recovery of item toss and eat to give him more opportunities to play with items then it'd be OK, even with the state of hole in one.
Taking away Nago's ability to combo after 5HS and 2HS seems pretty bad but 5S still exists. The HS buttons always felt more like spacing tools than anything else. I don't think I ever tried chaining into specials personally. At least outside of the corner anyway.
The Nago H changes fucking suck. Everybody keeps going on and on about balance and he deserves or he'll be fine, but it really isn't about that. It's about the changes just not being fun. At all. The rest of the changes he got were fine. But his combos, neutral, anti air, and pressure all took a massive hit and feel so much more limited. He really just feels like a completely different character, and not in a fun way.
I’m sad they remove Kara for a lot of games, although it’s understandable that kara is simply a “bug” you have to master to play the character. Since everyone does it why not remove it to allow new players to learn the character faster.
1. makes the game more nuanced (e.g. deciding when to kara or not for extended range but having more startup as a trade off you have to consider) 2. It's fun 3. provides a higher skill ceiling and rewards effort put in If your argument is "everyone does it so just remove it" there is plenty more to be removed and I don't think you'll have a more fun game afterwards for sure. And if you go by the logic of removing it so new players can learn faster without giving anything in return, you effectively lowered the skill floor but also the ceiling for said character. Strive is already a very simplified game. You could say it fits in this case to lean more into that idea but I'd also argue that you can't afford to lose even more of the little advanced techniques characters had left. Character mastery is already on an all time low with Strive seeing that even at the highest level, people can manage to play multiple characters now.
Kara canceling started as a bug thst became a feature for a lot of games. Pot's whole kit was built around it and it made him unique and rewarding for investing the time.

You just had right and wrong inputs and Pot was not even strong like Jack O, Chaos, or Asuka to demand a skillgate. Not to mention that Millia, Chaos, and Asuka even got input assistance in their cancels. Kara was a bad design choice that just took 4 years to get.

Pot doesn't really have an answer to Johnny still, Axl losing vacuum means that chaos matchup gets harder, etc. However, I do agree that it's probably a great patch compared to all the ones we got for season 3.

Kara for pot is not a bug? It was built into his design as kara back mega fist had specifically different damage and launch properties.

All my faust homies are dooming with the golf club. Fat hurtbox, minus 12 ish, underwhelming attack level. Tap dust is far more reliable
