Ms Ann is beyond sweet & full of soooo many memories....truly THE Tulsa Queen. What a wonderful interview, I nodded my way thru it, familiar w/ the people & all 3 Leon home locations in her recollections. What's also magical is how she adores Tulsa & it's musicians. She's in SO many of my music memories back in the days when I had to sneak in to see the places she played! The last time I got to see Leon was 2014 in Roswell, NM & the couple next to me asked how I could sing along to every song. (Okie smile) I wept during a couple of them, especially the last one. It was sad he went directly out to the bus but I do know his challenges, believe me. (heart) I met Beau & Brandon so my heart was full. Thanks for another great video from the treasured walls of The Church Studio. (heart)
Congratulations Ann Bell! You and Sweeney rocked my soul in Tulsa back in 77 78 79! Tina and I were always there every chance we got! Congratulations on being inducted into the OK Music Hall of Fame! RIP Micheal Lang and long live Woodstock!
Ann was a force of nature at the Shindig celebration for Leon’s 80th Birthday Celebration! She gave a performance for all of Tulsa and the Leon Lifer’s at Will Rogers that was truly memorable!! From that day forward, she’ll always be know to me as ~ Wonder Woman🌹🌅❣️
This is a great video I used to live going to hear Larry and Ann Bell and Tulsa County Live in Tulsa at The Observatory. She has done one of the best videos about The Tulsa Sound and such a good story about the great Musician Leon Russell. Thank you Ann Bell.
Leon use to come to my store on Brookside and He would come by after closing time and buy Shag Fur and Foam Rubber to line the walls at his new Grand Lake Music Studio. Very nice man one of my favorite songwrighter's.
Valentino talked about Ann and her singing. She didn't' live in Tulsa when Valentino and I were together but I finally got to hear her sing when there was a Tulsa Sound Reunion. A bunch of the old Tulsa Sound musicians played. Larry Bell, Ann Bell, Debbie Campbell, Valentino, Kastien, Markham, and others. I think maybe even JJ Cale was there but that might have been something different. But this should have been about 87' or 88'; or somewhere near that time. I have at least one picture from that night. Somewhere. But Ann's voice, her soul, her style was everything and more that Valentino had described so often. I was awestruck with her. So happy to hear her interview.
New sub today because of the love that flows from Leon and all of the others that played with the master of the ivory's. Nothing but Love just Love❤️✊. Thank You
oh I loved this, she's a sweet heart. Mr Leon had an incredible journey and did so many things in music just awesome. I love that stuff is coming out about the Tulsa sound. one guy I wish someone would right a book about or make a documentary on is Jesse Ed Davis. what a great artist, musician guitar hero. keep'm come'm
We agree on Jesse! We have some great photos and albums. Sure wish we had video footage of him! What a talent!! Keltner has many great things to say about him.
Ann my father in law upholstered the walls of one of his rooms. I was so proud of Tulsa when I would see him at Kay's restuarant having dinner, no one bothered him. Nice man
I remember when Leon called our church looking for the late Jimmy Mantooth who had sang with the choir on the John Chick Show at KTUL Channel 8 in Tulsa. Leon loved to find fresh talent. Of course a few church members had a fit when they found out.
Oh gawd you go girl, I used to luv listening to you down at Musicians theater, was either you or Sweeney most of the time. When it was you, you always blew me away. But I never had a bad time there. Thought I was gonna hear ya sing here, but this was maybe better and I can see the beauty in you still. Stay enthusiastic you're still so kewl. Sorry for all the typos. I'm not gonna admit I can't spell. And also PHONETICS PHUCKED ME UP Have fun adios
Ann is correct about one thing for sure, Leon was the start and Godfather of The Tulsa Sound, along with The Shelter People and so many other talented Tulsa musicians who are no longer with us either, 1972 is the year I got to meet him while the Aaronson mansion was finished and he and JJ happened to stop by while a friend who lived down the street and i were playing out in front and he wanted in the driveway, so we moved but instead of going on, he and JJ get out to introduce themselves or at least Leon did and told us he was our new neighbor, and the only thing i could say was, yeah i wish, lol, and i told him I was just visiting my buddy but thanks, they were just regular guys! Rest In Peace Leon, Play On!
We are opening June of 2021 as a recording studio. We’ll have museum-like artifacts, exhibits and memorabilia that celebrate Leon so there be daily historic tours for general public. Hope you come see us!
I love Leon as much as someone who never met him possibly can. Saw him in '73 in Philly. But does this woman have something against J.J. Cale? She never mentioned him once. He is as responsible for the "Tulsa Sound" as Leon, maybe more. They were both playing the same clubs in Tulsa in the 50s. They were good friends. Her not mentioning him is weird.
We agree JJ was instrumental and a key player in the Tulsa Sound. Ann lived with Leon and Leon took her under his wing so she had a close relationship with him.
This is great,, but wasn't there another Lady - a lady with an extremely unladylike name- who was also referred to as The Queen Of The Tulsa Sound? You should know of whom I speak.
Ann is a force to be reconded with. I love her genuine spirit and how she honors the late Leon Russell. What an authentic and heartfelt interview.
oh what blessed memories Ms Ann Bell..that was beautiful...
What a beautiful soul she is. Leon indeed left an aura everywhere he went.....Like a psychic patchouli trail......
WOW. Thank you Ann Bell for that gorgeous, heavy memory of early morning Leon at the piano, with you sitting beside the Master. Just WOW. 😪
Thanks for listening. We love Ann!

Yes!! Her performance at Will Rogers was incredible. Glad you were there to experience it with us!
This is the most insightful interview about the maestro. Leon Russell GOAT !!!!!!
We agree! Ann is fabulous and loved Leon so much!
I am so glad I just watched this film.
Just watched this for the first time. Wow.. what stories. Thanks Ann.

Very cool!

Ha! We've seen the photos with the shag carpet. In all of the studios and the little houses he owned, also, around The Church Studio.
He was also a customer of Clauds Burgers. He seemed to like Brookside and very nice and kind.
So nice to hear her experiences.
OMGosh. I ❤️ this interview and feel the emotion. What a gift to listeners. Thank you Ann! Thank you Leon.
Ann is wonderful!
Hey Ann!

That band Ann had with Jim Sweeney that played at Magician's Theatre was smoking hot.

Wow, that's amazing! It's so beautiful to see people who had personal connections with Leon all coming together and sharing their stories.
Is the studio now a museum ? I loved the albums that he recorded there and would love to see where Leon created so much magic
