His feel, groove and drum sound from those Clapton years is still some of my favorite stuff on record.
Ours too!!
Not sure if you meant that pun or not but either way, Nice One! "On Record" haha
@@MediaWorksTulsa Great editing work!! Look forward to future videos.
I like HIM in 1985 , And also RAH blues nights 1990
His groove on Cocaine is sublime. Also his drum sound, especially his snare. Very natural. He is my favourite Clapton drummer and I completely agree with you!
There is only one person that I admired as much as my husband and that was my father. My father's tailor made overcoat fit Jamie like a glove and he wore it with pride, as he does here. Thank you Teresa Knox for making this video, I cherish it. xo
Awesome.
Do you remember a local drummer NY the name of Doug Townsley who played drums for Ronnie Dunn?
Doug hung out at The Church Studio a lot. RIP Jimmy!
The music you grooved and played on will live for ever. R.I.P. Jamie Oldaker.
R.I.P. Jamie Oldaker. A humble man, a great drummer, a stylish dresser, a tremendous human being, a great citizen of Tulsa and a fabulous part of the Tulsa sound and music history. I believe you're in heaven working with the angels now. /○\
RIP Jamie Oldaker. Heartbreaking news today 😥
Would love to hear his stories of the times on the road and in the studio of his career, Jamie is a Legend
He is a legend, indeed!
RIP. Check out Clapton's traveling hotel video.
so sad to hear this drummer is gone . i remember the great china cymbal hit on ocean boulevard s hit . it was so late and so sexy . RIP bro
He will be missed so much!
That China at the start of Wonderful Tonight.
Saw Jamie, Dickie, Carl and Marcy with Clapton at William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA, on 4/24/79. Muddy Waters opened!
You will be SO very missed. 💔😔🙏🙏🙏
"The voice/soul goes through the microphone and transfers to the tape, how does that work? Think about it.." Profound.
That brought us to tears. So good. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
Profound - without a doubt! I suspect Mr. Oldaker is correct when he said Clapton's music would've gone in a different direction had he stayed with Leon. EC's Okie band will always be my favorite with the exception of The Dominos.
Could listen to his stories all day... Thanks for making the mark on The Tulsa sound..
We agree about listening to his stories! He is so sharp and detailed with the history! Glad you enjoyed. :-)
That was one deep, thoughtful man. Thanks for the interview. RIP, Jamie.
Rest in peace beautiful soul.
Jamie we love you. What an incredible force of nature you are.
It is interesting how Cale’s life was changed through Clapton covering his songs and Oldaker, and Radle were really the Tulsa connection that brought that to be by turning Clapton on to After Midnight.
It truly is an incredible story!
Loved you Jamie..You always played the greatest grooves...with the greatest heart!!! You were a one of a kind!!! Kitty
Fly high Jamie! You'll be missed!
R.I.P. James "Jamie" Oldaker (9/5/1951 - 7/16/2020)
Jamie Oldaker, the best drummer who played with E.C.
So sad he,s gone. Fabulous looking guy. Remembering him playing with Eric Clapton.
Check it out :Frehley's Comet "Second Sightning" album & "Live +1" with Jamie on the drums.Great job!!!
Rest in Peace
Thanks!
RIP Jamie 😥
Might be moving to Tulsa soon. Looking forward to learning more about the history there.
Great interview! So grateful you've made these available. Thank you!
RIP Jamie...
thank you for sharing
Very inspiring- thank you.
You are so welcome!
Great stuff TK!
Thanks, Greg!! We look forward to working with you in the future and benefitting from your vast knowledge of music!
Got Oldaker's "Mad Dogs & Okies" (2005) project album in the mail a couple of days ago! Great stuff. Recommended if you dig his grooves.
That is an amazing album. And the lineup is incredible. Jamie knows his music! Thank you for your support!
Steve Pryor just kills on that album.
RIP
I remember the first time I ever saw Jamie oldaker playing drums at the colony club and liked his long blonde hair down to his ass. He was a great drummer and the band was called THE JAZZ BABIES
Wow, great "Church Studio" series! Hale '73 grad, in the band, ignorant of all the cool music in Tulsa at the time. When did Leon take to flying?
Interesting that he played with some notable musicians, yet I never heard of him until today. 4 days after his death. Bummer.
I never partied with Jamie oldaker
James Andrew's is JAMIE OLDAKER
Watch Jamie ildaker SNITCH ON ALL OF THEM
Why did I go?
Or anyone he is naming.
I am now being attacked by fracking
Now looks more like Valentino Pena
Responsible for RONNIE DUNN getting noticed by submitting his tape without Ronnie knowing and he won a talent show that the winner came to Nashville.
Jamie shared this with us. Quite remarkable! Thanks for watching.
I had already been going there with my then boyfriend your worst rival.
I do not believe he died.
1996 Jamie oldaker never had a case in tulsa child welfare.
A 17 year old pregnant teenager who already had 3 kids in hsa cps custody in San joaquin county california trying to point the finger at me for being a tulsa county child welfare worker in rulsa in 1996
I do not trust Jamie oldaker worth crap now even more.
I fully appreciate your years with Eric Clapton but to say you were the catalyst for his career is beyond a stretch. Prior to you Eric was with Delaney & Bonnie. Most of that band became Leon's people. All of the Dominos had played with Leon. Eric knew J.J.Cale through Delaney Bramblett. Good interview but please give credit where credit is due.
Eric called me when Jamie was dying. He stated that the 3, Jamie, Carl and Dickie, saved him musically. He had been in a dark space and the talent they brought gave him life again.
He was only talking about the direction of that particular segment of Clapton's career
@@marybillingsoldaker5600 He told great stories, made great music, and added value to this world.
@@marybillingsoldaker5600 461 was magic. ECs best album.
RIP
