I would like to know that story! I remember being extremely excited when Cartoon Network was announced & being equally disappointed when all they showed was Hanna-Barbera. No Micky (not surprising) no Looney Toons (Seriously why bother) just terrible repeating backgrounds & obnoxious theme songs. It seemed like forever before they showed toons worth a damn, but I was young and was probably like 6 months. It’s hard to believe how much they sucked because Adult Swim is epic! It’s a genuinely great station now. I like this idea. The end

They cancelled MEGAS XLR and put in a bunch of sports and live action programming.
I am ESPECIALLY salty about cancelling not only MEGAS, not only cancelling the DVD, but writing it off as a financial loss on their taxes which makes it illegal for CN to profit off of in any way, meaning they can't air it. The president also refuses to sell the rights back to the animation studio, because "it's ours, you can't have it."

Daraprim is a very niche drug, that wasn't actively improved and no additional research was made on thia drug. The price hike was passed to the insurance companies, not on end consumers (since Daraprim was included in Patient Assistance Programs) with the idea that they can use the profits to improve thia drug and develop other niche drugs.
P.S.: The "generic" version of this drug is 550$ a pill, according to drugs.com, and is only produced by one company. If this drug was such a goldmine, would't it be produced by lota of companies? Truth is that the drug is such low volume, it is barely worth producing for pharma companies
So according to a documentary I watched the reason prices for anything medical in America is so high is because of insurance. Apparently back when insurance was becoming a big thing they all got together with the pharmaceutical and medical supply companies and said they wanted a discount because they were buying much more than any other individual entity. At the time the profit margins weren't that high so they came to a compromise, they would get to pay the normal established prices while they significantly jacked up the prices for anybody else. The boards didn't care if they were getting a discount persay, just that it LOOKED like it to investors and they were paying less than individual ppl. So there's apparently a master price book hospitals use(probably on a computer now lol) to see what they have to charge for things if it's not an insurance company paying for it, like $50 for some $5 tubing and shit like that. And I've seen this myself. I had to take a medication once and b4 my insurance approved it I had to pay over $12 a pill, but the next month when I got the approval I got the invoice or whatever in the mail where the insurance paid and it showed they only had to pay ¢50 a pill. Absolute bullshit lol.
Sam I need a word with you. I signed up for YT premium so I could play Simon in my ear while I do other stuff on my phone or listen podcast style while I restock my store or chores. That story about the hyperinflation of hospital bills in the US is 100% true. But it's actually even worse because your Co-pay (if you have insurance) can actually cost more than it would without insurance. Let me give an actual firsthand example: My mother lost her insurance shortly after she finished chemo for cancer. She used to have to go in for regular tests afterward to see if the cancer had returned. When she had insurance the bill would run a few hundred dollars, her insurance would cover it, but she would have to pay about $100 to the insurance company (her Co-pay). After she lost her insurance, she called the hospital and asked how much it would cost her to pay out of pocket because she had no insurance...$25.
So to be clear, the hospital was charging the insurance company let's say $250 per visit, the Insurance company only actually pays about 1/3 of that (yes, that is accurate), so let's say about $90, then charges the patient a $100 Co-pay. So by the end, with insurance, the hospital is +$65 (90-25), the insurance company is +$10 (100-90), and the patient is -$100. Without insurance, the patient is -$25, and the hospital more or less breaks even.
Also, hospitals will charge for literally EVERYTHING they can, and often times lump in "standard charges" for things that they didn't even do. Two ACTUAL examples: (1) my brother was hospitalized for a month and it is "standard practice" to give everyone in the ICU daily heparin, but my brother is Allergic, so every morning we would have a small battle with the nurses trying to give him heparin, but fortunately they NEVER gave it to him. On the bill, they charged for heparin every single day he was there. (2) Knew someone that had a baby, and when they got the itemized bill after the delivery, they saw that they were charged $500 for circumcision. The father called the hospital and asked why they had been charged so much for a circumcision. The woman on the other end began matter-of-factly stating that the fee is what it is because it is an elective procedure and that he should have thought about that before it was done. The man then responded, "Well, we had a girl, so what exactly did the doctor cut off?" Needless to say, it was removed from the bill, but because so few people actually request itemized receipts, I would guess that circumcision is a "standard charge" for all births that occur in the hospital regardless of gender.
