Hi 👋 won't self servicing affect the warranty 🤔 I've done oil change at 3k at 12 months and intend to take to Bmw at 6 k they said this won't affect warranty. The only difference in my service to yours was I copper grease all nuts n bolts when replacing. Great service video and helpful 👍
You are like the Dalai Lama, Buddha and a GS Whisperer all rolled into one. You calming tone as you teach and explain has enlightened and empowered me. Thanks again....keep the videos coming
A great you tube video i enjoyed the shared email, i love sarcasm and it showed it to perfection. I would've sent them back a picture of it on a cushion with the words just received this from royal mail it as taken rhe chap a full day to get up the path as it keep failing of the cushion on to the concrete path 😂👍🏻😎
Greetings again, and super thanks with this super video, I could say that with this you are the Teacher and the truth is that we must give you the recognition for this teaching, again I always said the services are better than in an agency since the we take better care, a super greeting and as we say here ...... Good routes
Thanks for the comments. I've nearly always done my own vehicle maintenance, ever since a garage, here in the Highlands decided a nail was a good replacement for a fuse and I ended up with smoke coming out of the bonnet of a '70's. Beetle. You know where the fuel tank is. No not a teacher although after a few careers, I have mentored.🙃
Great video. Thank you! I have a R1250 GSA. I didn’t know I could reset the service reminder with my I phone and my wifi hs911. I’ve always been using my laptop for that. Also I haven’t checked my drive shaft spline after 18,000 miles. I will now. I’ve been kind of afraid to open the shaft up. Thanks again for inspiring me!
You made that look very easy !! Not sure about tackling the driveshaft myself ! This item should definitely be included in the BMW service ,also surprising to see how little grease was on the ds splines on a new bike ! Great video , thank you.
Easy enough job if you have the tools and you take your time, but with everything if unsure use a pro. I am not advocating anyone to do work they aren't comfortable with as life's are at stake when you ride.
you're lucky, I have to get mine serviced by the dealership, as I need the new update to the software, as my TFT Dash won't update my telephone contacts, and I can't make calls but only recieve, after this first service never again, as I normally service my own bikes, and I have the GS-911 to clear codes/servicing times etc, just did my first review on my F750GS after 600 miles on my channel
Not sure what model your previous GS911 was but the original GS911 'WiFi' red with the round plug does work on the latest bikes. You just need to buy an adapter like the one in your vid but from round to OBDII connections
Thanks for this very informative video David. Can I just ask how you maintain the warranty on your bike by not having a registered garage do the service?
I haven't seen anywhere or been told by anyone at BMW that you have to have the bike serviced by them. In US I had warranty claims and always did my own servicing. The handbook clearly shows how to use the Hex plug so they expect people to service themselves. In addition it is an adventure bike and people will go where there are no dealers, the warranty is worldwide.
Hi David, great content! Did you go for the enthusiast version of the HEX GS 911? I have a GSA on order with delivery March, thinking I'll do my own servicing given I'm a vehicle technician to trade.
Yes enthusiast version. As a technician you should have no problems. I have worked on all my vehicles for last 40 years and only resorted to shops when I didn't have the space or facilities. Same old story, take your time, do your research, buy the right parts and double check you have tightened everything. If you get good and enough people want you to service theirs you can upgrade later.

Ur welcome. It's all straightforward stuff. Take care and take your time. Check and recheck.
In addition I keep a video of services and so can prove they were performed correctly
