As an ex instructor I would like to congratulate you on this knowledgeable instruction. You very obviously realise that an assumption of knowledge is a great mistake. Thank you.
I have used this to fit both D7’s and D4’s together with a soundbomb purchased from Steve.
These supporting videos take a great deal of time in terms of footage and the editing. This is the reason I supported him by purchasing these items.
Incidentally additional advice that I required sent by email was responded to promptly.
Same here 👍
Yea think I’m about to jump on that bandwagon too
Just posted the following to Weiser Technik
Having just bought a set of Front Weiser Wizards I have 4 comments:
1) They appear to work brilliantly - turning off the ridiculous front indicator lights that BMW have set to be permanently on! So they do what it says on the tin. I have just fitted these so have no idea re longevity but they worked well straight out of the box
2) However, they are absolutely NOT straight forward to fit to a GS Adventure. I removed 34 bolts to get all the plastics and the crash bars off, and used 17 zip ties to sort out and tidy up the wiring once fitted!! And the excellent video created by Carl at Just a Bike Thing for Weiser just covers the 1250 GS. I ended up using a Stip your 1250GSA on A Bike Thing, which was more helpful technically.
3) They are crazy expensive!! I get that quite a bit of engineering needed to be done, and that not many sets will probably be sold to offset this, but really?
4) And BMW should be reimbursing all of us for having to pay to sort out their mess!! How can front day running lights on a bike being amber make any sense or even be legal??
This is a great service to the GSA community... Thanks a lot from Canada...!!!
Clear explanation which I found invaluable. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to make this video 👌👍
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Steve. Great job as always!!!!!!!
Steve, this video could not have come at a better time! Yesterday, I started on installing my Denali D4 kit that I bought from you. I had watched a couple of other videos, but this one is superb. Well done and thank you.
Got inspired to get some bits on my GSA blacked from your quad black GSA and this video along with putting it back together a great help - many thanks and keep up the useful vids!!
Much appreciated! Stripped bike down and installed Denali cansmart ,S4 lights , sound bomb, B6 brake light and Innovv k3. Installed all of them just by looking at your videos. Thank you 🙏🏻!!!!
Excellent video Steve, thank you. You have saved me alot of grief and no doubt some money.
You are my new favorite person in the whole wide world. God Bless Ya Brother, THANKS!!!!
the most useful video on youtube so far.! great job
EXCELLENT VIDEO Steve, thank you.
Love it m8 could watch it over and over.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience!
Steve, absolutely brilliant video, I did a mates a while back but not brave enough to risk the tank. Doesn't look so scary now. Thanks
Just want to pass on my thanks, this vid saved me as I pondered the last two screws I mixed up.
Brilliant. Thanks so much! Confident of having a go now. 👍🏻
Bloody brilliant, detailed and essential video. What an awesome reference to stop you from breaking little things you would regret later. Thank you for taking the time to make it. And better practice this in the garage instead of in the field when you might need to get to a part burried under all the plastic. Thumbs up
Excellent vid . I could use just about 2 months ago and I ultimately found some guy in France who had a 5 part video unfortunately he was speaking French but he did such a good job on the video that I was able to follow it
THANK YOU, I just finished installing Denali D4's, Soundbomb, Powerhub2, Canbus, Innovv K2 & Direct power for the Radar Detector and a lot of other misc stuff. All Because of your videos. Of all the youtube vids yours are hands down the best. Thank You...
Thanks good sir! These are outstanding videos. I did send my business your way. I purchased D7, sound bomb combo package. Looking forward to the install
Really well done. Thank you for doing this.
I bought a few parts from you for my previous R1250GSA and I'm preparing another order for my current R1250GSA. Great quality stuff.
Thanks to guys like you , I can now strip the bike myself without relying on the dealer and even spot their mistakes when they put it together (wrong type of screws etc) 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Awesome videos! Just bought a 2022 BMW R1250 GSA and I’m going to install a set of Denali D4 lights and K3 Innovv cameras. This is just what I needed to get started.
Steve excellent video thank you so much. Will definitely assist me in installing my BMW Emblem lights I purchased from you.
Thanks for this , dropped the middle bolt to the top panel over the petrol cap and yep, I'm stripping mine to find it
The best video guide to achieve a clean install by yourself. Purchased D4s, T3s and Split Soundbomb from Steve. Finished the installation today and very happy and proud 😂. Thanks Steve!
Thanks a ton Steve - amazing footage! Really, really helpful :)
Brilliant Mate I'm just about to fit a Split Sound Bomb Horn, no fuss straight to the point, well done!
Great video I’ve subscribed I’ve just brought a 21GSA & all I want to fit is a Givi power hub/lead thing . Your videos will be of great help , I was worried about stripping her down but now I reckon I can do it . Now to watch again to try to get it to sink in thanks for taking the time to make it. 👍👍🏍🏍
Mate. This video is outstanding. I’ve followed and have my bike in the end state. It’s terrifying. Now need to do what I need to do and get it all back together.
Great video Steve 👍
Your video is a day late 😁 to install your D4s and sound bomb....
Now you’ve done this Steve, I’ll do it with greater confidence and take less time and make a better job.....
Fantastic video.... no other suppliers doing this in such detail and commitment to the product to give support.
That is why I bought from you😁
U r awesome man, thank u for this video, u r the best. I’m still waiting my GS to come, them will order a kit 0f yours then waiting the shipment to come over to Egypt. Then this video will be the star of the show to install the kit on my GS. thank u...
Steve! Finally getting to the bike after purchasing all my parts from you end of last year. You make it so easy to follow you step by step and make a person feel confident that I can do it. Everything went great! Tank makes me a little nervous but taking that on today. Then it will look just like yours. Thanks again for all your help!! Can't wait to see the finished product.
Awesome video. Its going to be alot of help when I order a full Denali set from you ;)
Steve, again, this video was a life saver. I took my iPad out to the garage to work on the installation of the Denali Cansmart and D4s. The front panels are very challenging and although I am pretty comfortable with mechanical things, there is NO way I could have done this. Thank you so much for this. If I lived in the UK, I would have had you install the kit, but in Canada, that option does not exist. Cheers mate.
Legend, thanks Mate!
Great upload! This is going to come in handy, thanks!
Amazing video I enjoy watching it and now I am much more wiser I can do things with my bike
Wow, very interesting... thanks
I am a bit less scared to do it 👍🏼👍🏼
Excellent work! I wish you lived nearby. Keep good work I enjoy your videos.
Just completed adding the Innovv K3 and the Hex can using this video. Great work there . To remove the plastic rivets I used a small spoon. Bent 10mm of the end of the handle over at 90 degrees and with a small file, filed a slot in it. an chamfered the end. the rivets came out without using pliers. Thanks again great intuative video.
Just amazing!!!!!
Super useful. Thanks! with a little more light you'd have a better depth of field and less focus problems.
Brilliant, thanks mate
This is really useful information and very well explained 👍
nice job, thank you for sharing it
Great video, you’re such a helpful guy, thanks 👌
Great Video!!! Thank you very much
I agree makes pulling my two week old GSA apart much easier however a how to put it back together together video would be nice 😊
Awesome video .❤❤ liked and subscribed
Excellen video! Thank you!
King!!!
Big thanks, this will come in handy. Liked/subscribed…cheers
Loving youre video’s keep up the good work please and I am defenetly going to by denali and sound bomb and hex can. Have to save a Litle money first couse I broke down my bike completly for a Total make over. Thanks a milion
3:44 into the video you took the rear and front bolts out of the grab rail to demonstrate the differences and when you put them back in you put them back in reverse. Not sure if anyone else caught this but anyways another was that I do things is to remove the part ie: grab rail and insert bolts back into the correct holes. That ways there's no mistaking where they go, and when reinstalling the grab rail wow they are right there. No fuss no muss.
U r absolutely right. Lens out of focus so hoped no one would notice. It didn’t go back like that as I don’t think the long bolt will even fit in the back. It’s too long. Joys of multitasking. Watching the preview monitor to ensure it’s capturing everything as well as doing the work.
Great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it I
Great video, BMWs are much easier to work on than KTMs. Reckon I'll be able to install my D7s by myself. Keep up the good work mate.
👍👍
Very nicely put together and detailed. Thank you for doing this video. Also browsing through your site for additional lighting and the horn. Question: do I need to remove all that bodywork just to get to the stock horn? thank you
Great video, just one thing, After the front beak side trims have been removed, How does one remove the front beak rails, the ones that sit around the front indicators .be great if you could show This.cheers, Stone.
Hi Steve - great video showing how to strip the GSA.
You did an install for me last year and I’m very pleased with it.
I have my eye on the Milwaukee power tool that you are using in the video, would you mind telling me which model of power tool you’re currently using in your business as I’d love to get one for myself.
P.s Can’t wait for the Ammo Guard - preorder done !
Any help would be appreciated.
Martin White.
Steve this is awesome - can you do the subsequent video of how to reassemble the bike from this stripped down state?
I made it earlier this year. Look at the videos on the channel
@@ABIKETHING ok thanks very much!
Hi Steve, any tips for replacing right hand panels after abs sensor change pleas
I was just wondering if you've ever removed the crash bars. Need mine powder coated and not sure how easy the little cable clips come off. Hopefully without breaking them.
Steve, my US dealer installed the D4/Brake light/Sound Bomb/CanSmart set on my 1250 GSA last year when he had it apart for another issue. Since then I’ve been thinking about daisy chaining another CanSmart to add a GPS harness and radar detector harness since my other CanCmart circuits are full. After watching this I’m confident I could disassemble on my own, but wondering how far I need to disassemble to run these 2 harnesses that would terminate at the handlebar. While I’m at it, I’d also like to check the routing on the initial dealer install to see if it’s all tucked in properly. Do I really need to pull the tank aside or remove the 2 beak panels for this?
Hey bike thing thanks for the great tutorial getting good tips thanks man... do you recommend total disassemble or go with the Thailand approach you documented?
Yes I do recommend total dismantle these days. Thailand was a good install but I made it hard work for myself by trying to take the top beak off first. The side with the air intakes has to come off first.
By any chance; Could you show us how to remove the BMW sat nav prep?
What size bolt goes into the front of the plastic cover? I think it was a T-15. Not really sure. The guys who installed my Denali lights, and Cansmart used red locktight when they reinstalled. I burgered up the screw trying to get it out. Had to take a grinder to get the piece off. (Had to replace the Cansmart. Thanks
Love the video.... do you have video like this for a 2018 1200 GSA..? Thanks
Sorry I’m afraid not. However it’s very similar. One of the main differences is instead of long shoulderless Torx25 screws holding the panel where the air vent is incorporated, on the R1200GSA they use big deep shouldered T25 screws.
Thanks Steve - are they many differences between the R1250 GSA and the R1250 GS? Any specific or significant differences?
Is it possible to remove the side panels that covers the radiators, whithout taking out the uper panel? Thanks
I watched the whole video just to find out what the relay behind the left side panel (opposite the battery) is. It was the only panel you didn't remove lol. Oh well I learnt alot anyway.
Hey Steve, great video! Do you know if there is a way to disconnect / replace negative lead cable? There seem to be more wires wrapped into that. Feels like they all twined together into the car harness.
This video was made a long time ago so without me watching it again I need you to be more specific about what it is you’re referring to. Please don’t reply on here as I’m not notified to replies on UA-cam. Please email us direct via the website contact page
Congratulations for you video .well done ¡¡¡ It Is possible cut the video for rear, front, head, tank .. ???. Thanks for show and share ¡¡
Can you come to ny to install all your favorite gadgets on my gsa?
Hope you can help. Followed your instructions to get the silver radiator covers off (excellent instructions) but when I removed the plastic tank cover, a little rubber block (kind of pyramid shaped) fell out and I can't see where it came from.
David - freeze the video at 13:01 / 24:52 and look almost directly under his right thumb. You'll see that piece of rubber sits atop a small metal bracket to absorb downward pressure and act as a spacer. The adhesive is weak so I glued velcro to the rubber pieces and also to the bracket. Probably should have just glued them to the bracket but I had the velcro pieces close by.
Or, just thread the bolts you take out back into where they go. It's more work but less chance of mixing them up.
Hi Sir! Could you say to me what elevator you are using to elevate your GSA? Thank you!
Nice one. I have a 1250 GS but still found this interesting as it's similar in some respects. Did you have any bolts left over once you'd put it back together LOL. I had 1 T25 from each of my 1200s - I never did find out where they went......
😂 oops 😬.
Please tell me the brand of that clips plier you have. I have now borrowed 3 models and none of the them can be used. Best regards from Simon I Denmark
Mate what make are your impact driver and compact electric screwdriver please ?
Hi Steve, do you use loctite for each of the screws?
By the way are you gonna do one where your putting it back together again I know it's simply the reverse of what you did but when I put mine back together again it was a little tricky as you had mentioned when you were taking off the parts I'd like to see how you approached putting them back on
Will do.
Where do you plug in the system monitor.
I forgot to ask, what make and model and voltage is the little cordless screwdriver you're using please as I need to get some panels off my GS and my hands are making it difficult to get the torx bolts out by hand so something like this would help massively. Thanks

Greetings all the way from Mexico, I just bought with you an AIO Chigee Lite bundle among many other things, does the petrol tank has to be almost empty in order to remove it? or does it have a valve?
It’s got a valve
I have really bad OCD amd my BMWs side panel screws almost gave me a stroke lol.
Thanks for sharing that video. May I ask you something as I got confused.
I just want to remove only the right black plastic on my GSA. How many screws are in total?
Only one side...
Feels like a pub quiz question 🙋♂️ can you give me multiple choice? 😂. Are you referring to the black section that includes the air intake or the black section that surrounds the front edge of the tank?
Because of the skilled engineering of the Germans, you still have to get the nose section off the bike so u can access all the relevant screws to remove the black panel that has the silver rad panel attached. Only 6 screws hold that black panel with the air intake on and 3 hold on the tank surround plus a plastic rivet, however you’ll need to remove in total 22 screws or 25 screws respectively depending on which panel u we’re referring to.
@@ABIKETHING :) The middle panel at 14:35 with the BMW logo on it.
I don't need a disassemble the entire bike. I just need to know all I need to do to get the Denali light bar installed and nothing more. Is there a video out there that shows me what needs to be out of the way to only install the Denali light bar. I don't need to disassemble the entire bike
You look like Liverpool FC coach
I wouldn't mind getting the silver panel that's under the upper crash bars wrapped in black. Does that come off without removing other panels?
Yes it does but you need to take the main panel off that it’s attached to to remove the said panel from
the rear
@@ABIKETHING Not sure I'm with you but I'll have a go tomorrow. Looks like 3 bolts and slacken crash bar to move it out of the way.
Tried to do this and got blocked at the grab rail. No tools can squeeze into that space to remove the rear bolts!
Hi Steve, is it possible to remove just the radiator side covers?
Yes but you have to remove the whole panel first to access the screws to remove the rad covers so I guess the answer is actually no.
When you unplug the fuel line from the fuel tank will it leak fuel if the tank isn’t completely empty?
Nope. There’s a stopping valve.
Hey! I'm planning on buying a 2015 1200 gsa. Is this comparable with the 1200 gsa? If it is, I need to save this for my Denalli setup
Hi. I do say in the beginning of the video that it isn’t the same as the R1200GSA. The screws have different shoulder depths. As long as you take a note of which screws and shoulders go where then you’ll be fine.
@@ABIKETHING how could I have missed that... thanks :D
I only wanted to find out how to remove the rear seat!! Just my luck 😂 Epic Fail!!
Hello, Every thing was going fine and according to your video, until I got as far as up to your removal of the plastic rivet (at 19:30 min), but cannot access the rivet due to an apparent fan assembly at the back side of the radiators but only on the offside of the bike (not sure what this is as it us only on one side?). Any ideas in a way forward? Regards
Yes it’s a fan. They all have them but you can still access the rivet.
@@ABIKETHING Thanks for getting back so promptly. I’m struggling to remove the rivet even on the exposed near side (maybe my dexterity isn’t up to it!), so I’m stymied. Guess for me this is as far as I can strip it and will have to work with what I’ve got to so far. Attempting to fit a Innov 3 camera, plus a headlamp guard. Cheers
@@davidbaker3065 persevere. Just grab the top with some pliers and pull it out. Will flatten out afterward or worse case scenario replace with new plastic rivet. I saw somewhere someone with plastic screw rivets which were the same size. Very tidy.
@@ABIKETHING Hello Steve, persevered as you suggested and ended up just ripping them out with a set of pliers! One further query perhaps you wouldn’t mind answering on putting things back together. When replugging the 2 connectors to the underside of the petrol tank, is there a tip as to which connector goes where? Regards Dave
Steve belay my last question; just put my reading glasses on and can see they are completely different ends!!!
