@@KristinKali It's the first review of yours that I've seen. You seemed hesitant to listen to this song, but it's good to laugh every now and then. It's ironic that one of the biggest influences in early rock and roll only had one #1 hit and this was it. Enjoyed your reaction. I'll be checking out more of your reactions.

Once I was flying in an airplane,
    The turbulence got bad,
    That I began to pray,
    I prayed so hard,
That I heard church bells ring,
Then I discovered that the stewardess,
    Was playing with,
    My Ding-a-ling-a-ling.

Rock & roll God! This Man was on the front line, the cutting edge! 3 well maybe 2 generations can link their influence to this man and others of his generation. You ask artists from the 80's what's your influence, what inspired you? The Beatles of course! Ask the Beatles members the same, oh American rock & roll, Elvis, little Richard, the big bopper, Buddy Holly, CHUCK BERRY!

In. the mid 70s he was on the afternoon Mike Douglas Show. A very bland variety talk show. He sang "we boogied in the kitchen-we boogied in the hall-she boogied on my finger so I wiped it on the wall" he licks his finger and mimes the wipe part. It was outrageously funny to me. Two years later I was twelve and I got my oldest brother to take me to see him at the Ontario Place forum. A wildly entertaining first concert for me. In the 1950s Chuck wrote Johnny B. Goode, Roll Over Beethoven, Hail Hail Rock n Roll plus many other classics. None which became number one hits. But this live recording of My Ding-a-Ling did. Go figure.

1974. 8th grade. I was 13 and worked for two hours after school helping the full time janitor (Frank) clean the school. After we got done we would hang out in Ms. Beasely's classroom (she was both an extraordinary and popular teacher). She would grade papers and Cheryl also hung out in the classroom (more on her in a moment). We would listen to this song on the record player as well as Rhythm of the Falling Rain over and over.
Frank had a crush on Ms. Beasely but couldn't bring himself to tell her. Cheryl insisted on hanging out with me and I couldn't figure out why as she absolutely refused to be my girlfriend. Even though I saw her naked twice, intimacy was not allowed.
The whole thing fell apart the next year. I guess Frank finally told Ms. Beasely and she started grading her papers at home. Cheryl made a play for Frank's younger brother (ending our relationship) and Frank and I had a falling out (long story) over the volunteer fire department-something else we both did together.

Kristen, you weren't singing along. 😜
When that song came out, it was really shocking to our parents. We'd sing it in high school. The first time one of the old bats heard us, she had a fit. They posted a list of songs that we were not allowed to sing at school. Of course, we rebelled by VERY loudly singing them. The best was that year Alice Cooper released "School's Out" in June.
You could hear every class singing as loud as they could on the last day of school.
Those old bats were having fits trying to to threaten us.
