@marcusorion4465 Right...who was telling the truth? For timeline perspective, Hamilton renewed with Mercedes through 2025 on 8/31/2023, a contract that somehow got a 2025 opt-out clause without running 2024. The story from The-Race on 11/23/2023 about Horner comments on Hamilton looking around: "The Mail story also quoted Horner referring to Ferrari chairman John Elkann, and apparent discussions earlier this season about Hamilton joining Ferrari."
If I'm sainz this upcoming season I don't want to hear teams orders or Lecrec is faster than you, game fucking on 🔥🔥, don't make it messy just absolutely destroy Charles in every race weekend.
I find Leclerc to be a bit overrated. So much talk about him but he implodes under his helmet too often while Sainz always remains calming calculating and rightly second guesses and redirects his team in the right ways at the right times. And he's damn fast too.@@glcsander
He put out a statement just confirming the situation and saying he will inform people on his next steps when he's ready. He just confirmed he would be driving in 2024, so my guess is we probably don't hear anything soon about this. Mercedes will probably take their time to talk to many drivers becoming available, so I would think the summer break is when we know where Sainz is going.
Can we just spare a thought for Charles and his MASSIVE balls? He's gone to Ferrari knowing he's going up against 4x WC, and absolutely trashed him, and now signed a long term contract knowing he's going up against 7x WC and one of, If not the, best drivers in history. That takes some serious cojones and I genuinely can't wait for that driver pairing.
A useful insight to consider is that 2025 cars will be about the same of 2024 because after 2024 teams will focus 100% on the new 2026 regulations. Hamilton knows that he doesn't need to wait 2025 to see if he can win again in mercedes.
Often Schumacher and Hamilton get compared together, but here is where the true legend shines through. Michael left a top performing, world championship winning team and joined Ferrari who were basically in the back of the pack and were nowhere near competitive for the title for years. And not only they started performing well, they made the most dominating age in Formula 1 from 2000 to 2004. Hamilton on the other hand jumps from power team to power team hoping that this will get him another win. Willingly jumping from a championship title wining car to one that can barely stick in the middle of the pack, while being an active defending champion, is something no other driver has ever done.
Just a guess. I think Sainz would go to Red Bull to replace Checo. Albon to Merc. The Merc will put there f2 driver in the Williams seat. Lance Stroll retires and Checo replaces him.
Perez is not going there again, he said they didn't treat him well when he was still driving for them and then got rid of him, he also said before going to RedBull that if none of the top teams offered him a seat he would retire because he was tired of traveling all the time and wanted to be with his family. So now that he got the top team, the best car and barely won a few races, I'd say he's done in F1. Also Honda is going with Aston Martin and they always contractually demand that one of the seats is given to a Japanese driver, like they did with RedBull and Yuki, being a Honda sponsored driver, was given the Alpha Tauri seat.
I'm not a Lewis fan but this seems to me to be the right way to do it for the team. I don't really see it as selfish or any more selfish than any other driver move.
after this weekend this move just seems absolutely comical to me. Hamilton is washed up and cant even keep his car on track. Russel had no problems getting up the grid with it before his crash. Ferrari is about to fire one of the quickest drivers there is and replace him with an old man. I understand it from Hamilton but i have no idea what ferrari are thinking. maybe they just think they'll sell a lot of merch
Quick question: Does any feel like Sainz is not respected enough? I feel like he is a good driver, quick, works very well with the team, and very talented when it comes to understanding the engineering side.
Sainz is a great driver. But if I was a team boss I’d take Max Charles Lando Hamilton Alonso George Piastri Before him. In that order. So it’s not really disrespect, it’s just natural order.
I bet there is a dude from Netherlands that would not agree, Ferrari has become a $150mil/year ad campaign, they lost all credibility as a racing team after the Schumacher era.😂😂😂😂

He would have the same choice he had back in 2013. The team Hamilton just left, with a history of always being at the top. Or a team which will get the Honda engine in 2026 and could do a Ferrari 2017 due to new regulations. Hope he makes the right call
It's Ferrari. Hamilton wants to end on a high with the so called biggest name in motorsport. He has nothing to prove, but he still wants the glamour. I hope he brings them success.
Interesting tactics by Lewis... 🤪 I guess this confirms what a lot of us suspected that Lewis has indeed lost faith in Mercedes. I still don't know if this is the right move for Ferrari or Hamilton but time will tell. Then again I suppose Lewis has nothing to lose in a way. Even if he doesn't get that 8th championship at least he can say he drove for Ferrari. Just goes to show, we might laugh at Ferrari when they screw up or get annoyed at how they run the team sometimes but that pull factor of racing in scarlet red is too much to resist at the end of the day. I also reckon Mercedes should go with Albon to be honest. I want Alonso to get that seat but I think it'd be safer and probably cheaper to get Albon and focus on the mid-to-long term.

Easy spotting the whiney murricans'...😅 Andretti means nothing to most F1 fans, so why does the FOM need a distraction? And why would Merc/Ham contribute to that? Clearly Andretti didn't convince the teams that a new lower tier team will contribute greatly to F1.
@@Snaakie83 "murricans'..." I not one of them. That's all I'll say about it. As for the matter at hand, the timing is extremely fishy as this is something that will generate far more content than the Andretti matter. As for Andretti being competitive or not; don't knock till you try it.
Oh I prefer more teams, the more the merrier. But seeing the collective outrage because F1 should abide by murrican contenders is just hilarious. Andretti just wasn't it this time, let him try over and over and he'll probably get in one day. Fact is, the teams and FOM make that choice, not them.
Both Sainz drivers racing for Red Bull in different formats would be wholesome and Carlos is a strong, consistent driver which would be great for the team. Hope to see that happen.
2:35 that’s not what selfish means. He’s activating an available contractual mechanism baked in by willing & consenting parties that grants these exact freedoms. Selfish would be holding out bc he didn’t like the car and refused to drive. And why is it “emotionless”? He’s fulfilling his remaining obligation prior to exercising a right afforded to him. You’ve positioned a perfectly acceptable move in a negative light. You didn’t call alphatauri selfish for firing de Vries. They enabled a contractual mechanism allowing for a driver’s release at discretion. But Hamilton is selfish now for doing what he thinks is best? And what about his time at merc proves he’ll not, if anything, drive with more passion as a parting gift to the team that gave him so much? This is much more normal behavior from athletes leaving without some inciting incident. Otherwise, merc would release him . Moreover, they wouldn’t allow him to be on the team collecting data only to move to a rival if they thought he had no moral code and had ill intent.
As a Hamilton fan today explains why Lewis brought back his performance coach and his face during his seat fit. And not to mention Lewis has been in the Simulator for the W15. I think Mercs performance over the last 2 seasons made his mind up. Ferrari has been the second fastest car the last 2 seasons(overall). And Vasseur is doing great at Ferrari. Guess im part of the Tifosi as of 2025.
It will be a massive downfall for Merc actually. Look at the last season and realize Hamilton was the reason they held that P2 in constructors and only behind both RB rocketship drivers in driver standings. Imagine if Merc have 2 George Russels, they'd be P5 at best.
This is basically the same move as Lebron going to the Lakers. They're both legendary athletes in the twilight of their careers and want to be linked to the most iconic team in their sport. Hamilton probably just wants to cash in on the clout of being a Ferrari driver and all of the hype that goes with it. I think he's mostly accepted that his time winning championships is over and is going to enjoy the last few years before he retires a very wealthy man. In all reality, no one is going to even challenge Max for years to come - certainly longer than Hamilton will be around in F1.

I feel sorry for the editors over at Drive to Survive. First they have to re-edit the final episode of the upcoming season to fit in a segment about Guenther being let go.
Then re-edit again for the Andretti bid rejection. At least they won't have had time to start on that before the Hamilton news broke.
Does that means the rumor from Redbull in 2023 about Hamilton looking around for a new seat, which included the top Redbull, got some merits?
not sure about Redbull but Hamilton was thinking about this all the way back from may last year
Every driver's agents and team sends "feelers" to everyone, there's only 10 years and 20 drivers so it's normal.
Obviously! You’d be dumb to not have your agent ask. Imagine they would have said yes, but you didn’t dare to ask for the fastest car on the grid. Get fucking real man.
Its obvious that if Lewis leave Mercedes he'll join Ferrari or MacLachlan.
Aint no way he'll join alfa,Aston Martin or Red bull.
@marcusorion4465 Right...who was telling the truth? For timeline perspective, Hamilton renewed with Mercedes through 2025 on 8/31/2023, a contract that somehow got a 2025 opt-out clause without running 2024. The story from The-Race on 11/23/2023 about Horner comments on Hamilton looking around:
"The Mail story also quoted Horner referring to Ferrari chairman John Elkann, and apparent discussions earlier this season about Hamilton joining Ferrari."
did a cockpit check one time and decided "nah"
He though fook dis sh!t give me that Ferrari money
Season hasn’t even started yet and silly season is already underway. No driver lineup change this year. 2025 is gonna shake up the grid.
Merc signing Alonso might be the only move that'll save Toto's face. What makes this amazing is Alonso knows this more than anyone :)
Please no, Mercedes doesn't deserve the excellence of Alonso.
Or they could move Albon into Mercedes and put Schumacher into the Williams

If I'm sainz this upcoming season I don't want to hear teams orders or Lecrec is faster than you, game fucking on 🔥🔥, don't make it messy just absolutely destroy Charles in every race weekend.
I find Leclerc to be a bit overrated. So much talk about him but he implodes under his helmet too often while Sainz always remains calming calculating and rightly second guesses and redirects his team in the right ways at the right times. And he's damn fast too.@@glcsander
What a crazy day for Lewis and F1!
George Russell must be happy to be top dog quicker than he probably thought.
Has there been any reporting on what Sainz has said about this ?
Yup. To me, Russell has been dreaming of this for a long time. No excuse for him to screw up due to driver management or team preference.
George has a 2nd job in engineering. He will check some walls again this year 😂
George is running out of time to beat Hamilton through a whole season on pure performance though...
Imagine if someone like Oscar comes in and just destroyed Russel
Sainz --> Red Bull
Albon --> Benz
Mick --> Williams
Perez --> Racing Bulls
Ricciardo --> Out
But Alonso on Benz/RB that would be cool.
The news is more exciting than the racing in f1!

Mean another winless season on 2024. Ya very excited 😂
Hamilton's therapist has to be seeing $$$ right now
😂
And Toto's therapist 😂
@FlorianGeyer_ unstable? When 😂
And I thought we weren't even going to get a silly season this year.
He's not going there until 2025. We don't know what Ferrari will be like (or any other team) by then. Especially with the new regs on their way.
Great point! @@alanserjeant4947

@@deerlord2363I thought Honda got out of F1.

Ages?
This was only announced a few hours ago
I find it impressive that they’ve managed to edit a video on that short of a notice
At least they waited for the official statement, everyone else posted videos claiming the move was done, when only it was a rumor
after this weekend this move just seems absolutely comical to me.
Yes, he's criminally underappreciated... 😢
Sainz is a great driver. But if I was a team boss I’d take
Max
Charles
Lando
Hamilton
Alonso
George
Piastri
Before him. In that order. So it’s not really disrespect, it’s just natural order.
Sainz is not a top 8 driver in the current F1 grid. Simple as that. He didn't deserve the Ferrari seat and was lucky to land it and 2 lucky wins.
They all want to be great... But what they really want is to be great in red.

He only won those two championships because of luck. Kimi was the better driver in 2005 but had tons of reliability issues. Alonso had an illegal car for half of 2006.
He would have the same choice he had back in 2013. The team Hamilton just left, with a history of always being at the top. Or a team which will get the Honda engine in 2026 and could do a Ferrari 2017 due to new regulations. Hope he makes the right call
I completely understand why Lewis is doing this; but why Ferrari is doing this boggles the brain.
It's Ferrari. Hamilton wants to end on a high with the so called biggest name in motorsport. He has nothing to prove, but he still wants the glamour. I hope he brings them success.
Charles does not play games.
Lewis loves this about Bottas.
This makes sense..
Interesting tactics by Lewis... 🤪
I guess this confirms what a lot of us suspected that Lewis has indeed lost faith in Mercedes.
Agreed. Albon would be perfect for Merc. Not sure how George and Alex's friendship would hold up though?
@@asterixdogmatix1073 Naturally there's always a risk their friendship might go ka-boom but in a hyper competitive sport like F1 that's always a possibility unfortunately. Especially if both drivers have a chance at wins, podiums and championships! For all we know though, maybe their friendship would survive if Albon went to Merc! Besides I'd be willing to bet Alonso and Russell's friendship would be more likely to implode if Nando went to Mercedes. I think Mercedes is the winner. I was surprised they re-signed him. It was a mistake. He’s a great, perhaps greatest, but he is well passed his prime. Best to let him go and get cranky at the Ferrari circus team. I'm not convinced he’ll be anything other than a financial asset at Ferrari. Though, I am happy to be proven wrong.
I don't see it as a vote of no confidence in Mercedes. It is an old dog hoping to find a new trick. And I'm sure it pays well. Schumacher’s Ferrari salary from 20 years ago is still higher than what today’s best get.

What we should ask ourselves is why Ferrari wants a 40 year old driver who's at the very end of his career.

Hamo's done. Out with the old, in with the new. Massive opportunity for Merc.
It will be a massive downfall for Merc actually. Look at the last season and realize Hamilton was the reason they held that P2 in constructors and only behind both RB rocketship drivers in driver standings. Imagine if Merc have 2 George Russels, they'd be P5 at best.
As long as he doesnt commit the cardinal sin of whinging about a Ferrari not being perfect he should be fine.
