I received my new 2023 PP-768 this week. I also ordered it with the Bixpy gravity rudder. Can't wait to finally install it. The PP 768 battery has a warp 13 speed, will run wide open for 2 or more hrs. But speeds 7 to 8 will last more than 24 hrs. Awesome little motor. 🌊 🎣
This review helped me decide on the Bix J2 for my 2021 Compass. That piece of mind will be worth it when fishing large lakes and the inshore areas around Galveston.
Got my J2 last year and all your points are right on. One additional point…..when I load my PA12, I remove the motor, but the mounting piece that remains on the back handle sticks out and into your gut when you picking up. No way around it. Still love the unit. I use it just like you said……point A to point B…..then pedal around. Great video. Thanks.
I love my 120 pdl. Now saving for my J2 Bixby. I have ❤ condition. I do like to paddle and pedal when I get to my spots. But this year I want to tournament fish. That motor perfect for kayaks. At 9lbs it just amazing and can't wait. Especially having a 2nd bixpy battery. Awsome!! 🙏 😎
This system is incredible, I work with the manufacture of some propulsion systems here in Brazil, you are an inspiration, congratulations for the content and editing too, big hug
I have one on my 2019 Outback and have done 8 miles at 40-50% speed and still had more than 30% battery life. Just built an adapter to use on my new 2022 Compass and waiting for weather to break so I can test it.
Always look forward to your video my 2monks yak is screaming for some power to get me to where the fish are .as I am ageing it's not very quick .keep up your good work
A great review, I did stumble across the Bixby a while back when looking into an electric motor for a kayak and thought it was quite expensive but I guess it all makes sense when it includes the battery as well - that's usually the expensive part of a trolling motor setup. I'd throw one of these bad boys on my newly acquired 2nd hand 2019 Compass. It'd definitely help with feeling knackered at the end of a session as you mentioned. I, too, am guilty of smashing some energy drinks on the drive home on the regular 😂
Imagine the possibilities if I had that on my revo 11. Love all the honest reviews you've been putting out put there . Very informative indeed, keep up the great work.
Brandon! Thank you for reviewing. I have been looking at these but no one has a good review like what you just did. I would be putting this on my 2020 Hobie outback. If I won, I would even pay shipping. 😂🤣😂
Thanks for the great content! Always a pleasure watching you. This motor would work great on my johnny bass 100. It would be a great addition to get me to the fishing holes quickly!!
Thanks for the quality review. This would make a great addition to my '21 Outback. I spend a lot of times peddling to offshore reefs and this would make life 100 times easier!
Great review! I appreciate your honesty and fresh approach… I’d be very happy to add this to my Hobie TI. Looking to have just a bit of added security to get me back to shore when the winds quit and I’ve been out all day. Thanks for the chance 👍🏼
Awesome unit - peace of mind and some power to cruise for a bit longer than the legs alone. No kayak right now myself, so don't need to enter, but enjoyed the video and will look at one of these once I get my next yak set up.
This would be the best thing to receive as i am a young Keen Fisho I paddle around all day and end up pretty tired, it would be a great little mod to my dragon 2.7m kayak to get around the creeks and flats, and also I love your videos 😉
A Bixpy installed on My Compass would have made battling into both wind and current for two hours this afternoon a little more pleasurable that’s for sure!
I’d love to put it on an outback if I can ever afford one. Fatigue after a long day fishing is where you make mistakes, if it’s reducing that then it’s really a safety device.
Great video!! Just broke down and got one for my FeelFree Lure 13.5 and can't wait to test it out. I sadly do not like the overdrive system what so ever so this is a great substitute and the Bixpy batteries seem amazing.
The contingency ability of the electric is something I hadn't fully appreciated until I seriously broke my ankle 8 weeks ago when solo kayak / fishing camping. Until a rescue plan was in place to get me off the beach and up river to an ambulance, dragging myself back to the kayak, dropping in my motor and getting back towards a boat ramp to get help was the next best option. Next time a PLB will be option 2!
Hey Byron , terrific review on the Bixby . I would loved to installed this unit on my 2021 Hobie Lynx which will make this boat more nibble and lots of fun . I totally agree on your comment that it a great asset to those longer days fishing and the ease of returning to your launch site . It would great if Bixby could connect to a GPS unit allowing spot fishing or return to the launch area .
Hey Byron once again another great video love this motor I reckon it'd be very fun racing around my local estuary getting to my fishing spots on that. If I won I would put it on my fishyak viper which I got at slh last year. At the moment I have a watersnake which I find great but I wouldn't mind a faster motor.
I was really contemplating buying a bixpy or torqeedo for my 2016 PA14 but I couldn’t see myself wanting to invest more in it, over the years I’ve been leaning towards making the switch to an outback. And finally in about two weeks I’ll have my 2022 Outback and I would love to start my new adventure with an awesome unit like the Bixpy. It’s time to say goodbye to my PA
I bought my 2022 Hobie Outback In Camo last friday, I have taken it out everyday this past weekend and i'm sooo glad, the load and launch time difference from this to my PA is fantastic I couldn't be happier or more excited for this upcoming year for fishing!
Ive got a NextGen9 yak mate so I would be hooking the motor to that, it would be so good to have and reverse would be awesome for me, especially when you are in situations where you are getting close to structure, boats, poles when a fish is on, trying paddle backwards while your hooked onto a fish can be challenging lol
Well done! I up graded my paddle kayak not long ago to a Hobie Outback which was an upgrade, but to put one of these on the back would be a game changer 🤙🏻
Another great vid Byron. I would love this, being in my fifties its getting harder to stay out on the water for those long fishing days something like this would be a game changer for me i would put it on my compass to help me get to my favourite spots and even explore more spots without exhausting myself.
Follow up on my 2022 Compass install. The unit works great, slightly faster speed since the Compass weighs less. Unfortunately the Hobie power pole mount adapter is back ordered with no ETA so you will have to fabricate a mounting system. I used aluminum bar stock utilizing the Hobie inserts and the Bixpy mount that I had for my 2019 Outback.
This will be huge for anyone with a kayak being able to cover more area with the fatigue, looking at a new outback soon i think this will be a great addition to it. Awesome review to, keep it up
Offt! something like that would make life a lot easier! I probably don’t have the right kayak for it (running an older hobie) but I’d love to give a crack. Up to this point I haven’t gone far offshore (less than 2km) but I’ve got a few honey holes that I’d be able to reach with this!
Great little unit.i would dare say i would mount it in a pushing position as well just for that breakaway folding action if i acciddntly ran over something.Great choice Byron. Ive been looking at powered options for my hobie outback. Unfortunately dont have facebook either
What an awesome little motor, would be putting on my 2019 outback, would be awesome as I am often fishing solo on the bay and having the price of mind I have an extra bit of power would be awesome 🤩
This would go epic on my nextgen12 k2f. Have been trying to design a mirage well set up but after watching this episode the rear seems like the go. Would help with takin on some comps this year
Cool bit of kit mate. Fair point about having a second mobility option. I do carry a spare GT drive in my Outback for longer sessions but he Bixby would help to get from spot to spot more efficiently. Cheers Byron.
Oh man I would love to win this and put it on my Compass. At first I was thinking to mount it in the mirage drive well but you make a good point with the noise of the unit and scaring off the fish. Would be great to have this as a back up when the legs give way after a long session.
I would put the Bixby on my PA12, Just arrived home from Molloy, the wind was gusting to over 40kph that motor would turn a 3 hour pedal home into a pleasure rather than arriving exhausted.
Thanks for the great review mate. No idea if this can be fitted to my small fishing yak but would be awesome to be able to get to more spots in one session
Awesome mate, great info here and an unreal comp (along with your others) to kick off 2022. I'd put this on my compass to assist with the bigger areas (such as blue rock lake). Rear mounted seems to be the go to still allow for mirage drive usage as you approach a fishing spot. Tight lines chieftain.
Great review, currently I would throw it on my next gen 11, but hopefully later in the year that will be an Outback. I was curious about how noisy it would be, good that it isn't noisy enough to be uncomfortable on the water all day.
Great looking unit, and a fantastic alternative to the cheap electrics and batteries currently on offer from other companies. Would be fantastic on my K2F nextgen 3.
SLH are the 💣. Get most of not all my accessories from them. I’d be slapping this bad boy to my 2019 Hobie outback. Using the same mount you have still allowing use of my mirage drive once I get to me spot. That setup looks like the way to go 🎉🎉🎉 great vid vid once again 👌👏
One of the bigger things ive been thinking about investing in for my PA14 360. It would be nice for the price that you would get a spot lock function, thats my only critique. I'd definitly like one regardless, it would make those long trips between spots a breeze.
Another great review video 👍. Currently deciding on a colour for a 2022 Outback.. ivory dune like yours or seagrass. The motor went well! Thanks again :)
Awesome video as usual. Has anyone figured out a mounting strategy that allows the use of both a power pole and the bixpy simultaneously? I fish shallow water almost exclusively and use my power pole all day.
How good is that, the bracket looks like it works similar to the mirage drives. Not only covering injuries/fatigue/broken drives... the most frustrating thing is after a long day fishing and covering a lot of ground dealing with strong headwinds trying to paddle back to the car and literally some days going backwards into the wind.. something like the bixpy means i wouldn't have to call it a day when the wind starts to pick up a bit.
Great review Byron. It was interesting to look at others who have reviewed the Bixby J2 and compare the differences. The common benefit however seems to be the significant reduction in fatigue at the end of long fishing sessions (like I get at my local freshwater dam or down the south coast). I love the fitness aspect of using my Hobie Outback but what I will say that as I approach 50 my knees feel the fatigue of a long session. I would love to win the Bixby J2 to have on my 2015 Hobie Outback. It would be super valuable in getting me to and from my favourite locations whilst still allowing me to utilise the mirage drive for approaching my spots and doing my drifts. It would require a different installation to accommodate the twist and stow rudder, however I know Bixby have numerous kits to allow for many different applications. By the way, I wish Canberra had a Hobie specialist like the guys at SLH. The local retail experts are unfortunately far less experienced than the guys at SLH.
I would love this, finally feel confident to go out further. I’d be putting it on my K2F triton. I won’t lie though, it would be nice to have this for when I’ve got my daughter with me my arms get a bit tired chauffeuring her around 😂
So I have the j-2 skeg motor. Not had in water yet. How do you protect motor when getting in and out of water? Has anyone built shroud around motor? I'm obsessed worth question. Probably easy from dock or sliding from shore into drop off...not otherwise.

This is the answer to my prayers! This pocket rocket would help me with my lower back pain and overall fatigue when fishing on my hobie compass
This system is incredible, I work with the manufacture of some propulsion systems here in Brazil, you are an inspiration, congratulations for the content and editing too, big hug
Great review. I've been planning on putting one on my Perception Outlaw, but thinking about waiting till I upgrade my kayak
Good choice!
I'd love to have this thing on my Hobie PA14. Help get off the water quicker when the back pain kicks in
Nice indeed. Would be very handy to use when chasing snapper around Cockburn Sound in Perth WA. I love my hobie 2021 outback
I have one on my 2019 Outback and have done 8 miles at 40-50% speed and still had more than 30% battery life. Just built an adapter to use on my new 2022 Compass and waiting for weather to break so I can test it.
Always look forward to your video my 2monks yak is screaming for some power to get me to where the fish are .as I am ageing it's not very quick .keep up your good work
This is a huge plus to the outback setup I have. Having the ability to cover so much more area and not strain my legs would be a huge benefit
I'll use it on my SUP board, so I am really looking forward to your SUP video in few weeks.
Cheers Eric
Love the light weight and easy use of the Bixpy. I would really love one for my Nucanoe Flint.
Good luck!
Would love to give that bixpy a shot at offshore fishing, I'd be putting it on my Hobie outback 2021 aswell that I also bought from SLH haha
Quality as always. I would certainly put one on my Hobie compass to help get out past the heads.
A great review, I did stumble across the Bixby a while back when looking into an electric motor for a kayak and thought it was quite expensive but I guess it all makes sense when it includes the battery as well - that's usually the expensive part of a trolling motor setup.

Great review. I would love to put that on my Compass duo to help reach more ground within the Hawkesbury river
Entered!!!!
Very thorough review on a great unit. If I was able to win this gem I would mount it on my Tarpon 120 to give my arms a break!
Imagine the possibilities if I had that on my revo 11. Love all the honest reviews you've been putting out put there . Very informative indeed, keep up the great work.
My partner would love this! He keeps talking about needed something just like this!!
AWesome!!!!
Brandon! Thank you for reviewing. I have been looking at these but no one has a good review like what you just did. I would be putting this on my 2020 Hobie outback. If I won, I would even pay shipping. 😂🤣😂
Earned a like for honesty and not working for free!! I'm hear for it
Great review and ripper setup, I would love to put that on my PA14 for cod fishing at lake Mulwala. Thanks Byron & Scott
Great video. I am considering a Bixpy on a Old Town Topwater PDL mounted on the stern.
That's a great idea!
Thanks for the great content! Always a pleasure watching you. This motor would work great on my johnny bass 100. It would be a great addition to get me to the fishing holes quickly!!
Awesome review!! Definitely love the pedal + power option!!! Keep up the great content… Cheers!
Thanks! Will do!
Thanks for the quality review. This would make a great addition to my '21 Outback. I spend a lot of times peddling to offshore reefs and this would make life 100 times easier!
AWesome Spicewok!
Top review! Would love to use this on my Viking Profish GT. Really handy for those longer trips offshore.
My pleasure David
Great review! I appreciate your honesty and fresh approach… I’d be very happy to add this to my Hobie TI. Looking to have just a bit of added security to get me back to shore when the winds quit and I’ve been out all day. Thanks for the chance 👍🏼
Love this channel. It would go on my Outback. Thanks for the opportunity.
You're in!
I would deffs love this on my pa14, id rig it like your outback too! SLH are awesome too, very great customer service.
You're in!
Awesome unit - peace of mind and some power to cruise for a bit longer than the legs alone. No kayak right now myself, so don't need to enter, but enjoyed the video and will look at one of these once I get my next yak set up.
Thanks legend!!!!

Entered mate
Would absolutely love to put this on the back of my PA 14 to allow access to those reefs of coffs that take that bit to long to peddle to!
A Bixpy installed on My Compass would have made battling into both wind and current for two hours this afternoon a little more pleasurable that’s for sure!
I’d put it on my Viking reload! Reverse might come in handy too not having a mirage drive!
Nice
I’d love to put it on an outback if I can ever afford one. Fatigue after a long day fishing is where you make mistakes, if it’s reducing that then it’s really a safety device.

Not a Bixpy though - much cheaper Watersnake SXW 34 through hull.
Dude that is hectic!
I plan to install this on a BKC FK184 9-foot Solo Sit on Top Angler Fishing Kayak. Great video!
That could be the game changer that gets me back on the water. This would go great on my K2F Triton. Thanks for the review.
I think it would be good also, its only a go forward or reverse though, so would struggle turning itself
Would love to see how well this would propel my hobi lynx around. Great vids.
I think it would be fast!
That would be an awesome addition to my ProAngler 12 360.
It's good on the PA
I love the idea of the bixpy for safety and extended range. I would put this on my Viking Reload. :)
Nice AL
Hey Byron once again another great video love this motor I reckon it'd be very fun racing around my local estuary getting to my fishing spots on that. Hey mate another great video... can I ask what costa sunglasses you had on in this video?
I have no idea. Green mirror???
Was super excited to watch the review, did not disappoint. Would love to mount on my L4 Expedition SUP, for fishing 🎣.
Fingers crossed!
Well done! I up graded my paddle kayak not long ago to a Hobie Outback which was an upgrade, but to put one of these on the back would be a game changer 🤙🏻
I think this would go alright on my wilderness commander 120 kayak
cool!
What a great thing, it would go well on my 2019 outback. Since having cancer I find it a bit hard to peddle as far.
Great channel Byron
Another great vid Byron. I would love this, being in my fifties its getting harder to stay out on the water for those long fishing days something like this would be a game changer for me i would put it on my compass to help me get to my favourite spots and even explore more spots without exhausting myself.
Entered Hope!
I have a Hobie PA 14 and would love to add a Bixpy. Getting a little old for all of the peddling.
hahahaha me too!!!!
Follow up on my 2022 Compass install. The unit works great, slightly faster speed since the Compass weighs less. Up to this point I haven’t gone far offshore (less than 2km) but I’ve got a few honey holes that I’d be able to reach with this!
Thats what it was designed for! long distances
Awesome stuff kit looks cracka, plans on getting a hobie pa14 this would be cool to try offshore
Entered
This motor looks epic! Would love to put one on my PA14 for longer sessions and going that extra Mile to fish untouched areas
Agree!!!
Would love to throw one on my PA14 to help me cover more ground and explore new areas... great video and review as always!!!
Great little unit.i would dare say i would mount it in a pushing position as well just for that breakaway folding action if i acciddntly ran over something.Great choice Byron.
Ive been looking at powered options for my hobie outback.
Unfortunately dont have facebook either
Great informative review as always Byron. I’d love to put one of these on a Native Watercraft Slayer 10. Thanks again for all your content.
Really great review and insight on this motor! Thank you!
No problem 👍
What an awesome little motor, would be putting on my 2019 outback, would be awesome as I am often fishing solo on the bay and having the price of mind I have an extra bit of power would be awesome 🤩
You're in!
Thanks for the review I wonder if this motor was any good, make me want to get a kayak and get this motor.
Seems like it would be pretty damn handy for long trips and exploring new places. Nice review once again. Thanks mate
This would go epic on my nextgen12 k2f. Have been trying to design a mirage well set up but after watching this episode the rear seems like the go. Would help with takin on some comps this year
Nice!
I've never won anything but let's have a go! I would put this on my 2020 Hobie Compass Camo. Boy would it be nice 🙏
Good luck!
I would put the Bixby on my PA12, Just arrived home from Molloy, the wind was gusting to over 40kph that motor would turn a 3 hour pedal home into a pleasure rather than arriving exhausted.
I hear that!
Thanks for the great review mate. No idea if this can be fitted to my small fishing yak but would be awesome to be able to get to more spots in one session
Awesome Mick, entered
Awesome mate, great info here and an unreal comp (along with your others) to kick off 2022.
I'd put this on my compass to assist with the bigger areas (such as blue rock lake). Rear mounted seems to be the go to still allow for mirage drive usage as you approach a fishing spot. Tight lines chieftain.
Great review, currently I would throw it on my next gen 11, but hopefully later in the year that will be an Outback. I was curious about how noisy it would be, good that it isn't noisy enough to be uncomfortable on the water all day.
Right on!
Changed my mind, I’d put this awesome unit on my Hobie Adventure Island
hahahaha
Great vid. Would mount it on my PA14 for sure.
Great looking unit, and a fantastic alternative to the cheap electrics and batteries currently on offer from other companies. Would be fantastic on my K2F nextgen 3.
Would love this on my pa14 . With a knee missing an acl this would help a lot giving my knee a rest when needed 👌 appreciate you putting this up
Happy to help!
This would be awesome on my Compass just for burning between spots. I might finally be able to sneak into Darling Harbour 🤣
Entered Thanks Niall!
Good luck!
Cool review could use a little extra help on my 2017 outback I am a bit of a lazy fisho on the yak keep up the good work awesome channel 👍

Yeah Dave, the guys at SLH know there stuff when it comes to Bixby. I'm glad you enjoyed the review dude and thanks for commenting and sharing buddy.
I would love this, finally feel confident to go out further. I’d be putting it on my K2F triton. I won’t lie though, it would be nice to have this for when I’ve got my daughter with me my arms get a bit tired chauffeuring her around 😂
Nice!
I would like to put it on my Hobie mirage Oasis.
In!
Ive been trying to find a good kayak motor so super helpful vid, Would love to put it on a Hobie PA 14 360
Nice vid
I have Pescador pro 10.0 i would be putting it on i would love to have something like this
Good luck!
I have revo 13 will be sick with this speed
I wonder if you have a Bixpy on a paddle kayak, you could increase the speed by paddling with the Bixpy activated?
Would love to fit this on my katcha. Due to my disability I can't paddle anymore and this would free me up to get back into my local creek.
Good reason to get one then bud
Would be a perfect fit on my Viking profish reload ❤️
What’s a fortnight again? :) Great video, but you just added my choices for my Outback. Dang. I like the simplicity of this unit.
So I have the j-2 skeg motor. Not had in water yet. How do you protect motor when getting in and out of water? Has anyone built shroud around motor? I'm obsessed worth question. Probably easy from dock or sliding from shore into drop off...not otherwise.
Great review. Would put in on a H Compass.
Good call!
@@ByronTeaHill So, can I go pick up my Bixby now? :D
