    Great review, I have the 12’ clam with the liner and we set it up in Yellowstone and the kids loved it. We added the Little buddy heater for cold night’s and a fan to circulate the air inside. I also used our extend a pole that we use to wash our motorhome to hold up the center of the clam on real rainy days seemed to work well. All in all we love having the extra room to hang out in, this is our 3rd year with it and it’s holding up well. Thanks for the review.

    Great review! I LOVE my clam tent! Had the same issue with sunny days making the tent hot and UV damage. Made quick work of that problem by making what I call a "Sun-Fly" I put over the tent made out of mylar. I have a 3 minute video showing it on my channel for anyone who might be interested. My next project will be to make a side panel or two out of the same mylar to better protect the side of the tent that would get the most sun exposure.

    Great review, thank you!! Do you think the clam could be opened/closed/stored with the solid walls flaps in the up position (i.e. so the screen wall is open)? I see us using it primary as a "screen room" but I like the idea of having the walls "attached" as you comments in the video.

      @LiveTodayLikeItMatters  Рік тому

      I’m not sure about storing it with the flaps rolled up. You probably could. We roll our flaps up and use it like a screen room all the time.

    Nice review. I own 2 Clam Quicksets, ones with separate side panels in same brown color. Found them by chance at a Bed Bath & Beyond store & paid under $49 for each & got the side panels too at TSC store. Have owned for @ 4 yrs now. In NY & use in backyard along with other canopies & on day events. I may look into getting a rain fly top & yes, great in the Fall to stay warm inside. Keep enjoying it.

    We stuffed the sidewalls into the strap loops which gave it a nice gathered curtain look and made it much quicker to open and close. Agreed the fabric is not UV resistant. Ours died from the ceiling fabric becoming too fragile. Recommend getting the rain fly to protect it from the sun.

      We ended up purchasing a rain fly. And that’s been super helpful.

      Well, a year later and we finally gave up on Clam screen rooms. The Cabelas branded one fared no better for durability. We found an AWESOME replacement: Kodiak Canvas Flex-bow 10 x 14 ft. Screen House. Extremely stout, rain proof, and MUCH cooler in the sun than the clams. No more pushing the collapsed roof back up in strong winds. 65mph gusts have been no problem!

      The manufacturer of the Clam doesn't recommend leaving the clam tent up when not in use. Its certainly nothing a full timer would get much mileage out of because of UV damage. We spray ours with a waterproofing/UV protection every few months depending on how much rain it sees.

    • @LiveTodayLikeItMatters
      @LiveTodayLikeItMatters  Рік тому +1

      @Ober447 this is true! When we put ours out, we try to find a shady spot, unlike the spot in the video. The waterproofing spray and rain flap has helped ours. We are into our second year. We did not use it this past winter in Florida since we did not have a great place to set it up.

    • @Ober447
      @Ober447 Рік тому

      @@LiveTodayLikeItMatters We use ours on really hot days and rainy days. We have a truck camper and the world is our living room so its nice not to be stuck inside during less than perfect weather.

    Not a lot of reviews of the Clam Pavilion so thank you for the thorough review! This is the first I’ve heard concerns about UV degradation. I’m not an RVer so this would see occasional use, plus I don’t live in a sunny state so not too worried, but it’s worth keeping in mind so thanks for mentioning it!

    If you get into a heavy wind/heavy rain situation the wind pops the roof down and fills with the rain and crashes to the ground due to rain . I know because it happened to us and yea we had properly staked out.

    • @LiveTodayLikeItMatters
      @LiveTodayLikeItMatters  Рік тому

      This has happened to our clam as well. When we put it up now we like to have a buffer so it is not directly in the wind.

    Could this make a good alternative to adding a room to the RV Awning. Could it fit under the RV awning for added shade?

    • @LiveTodayLikeItMatters
      @LiveTodayLikeItMatters  Рік тому

      Ours is too big to fit under our awning. But a smaller one might. It does create an extra room for us where we like to hang out and have dinner with friends.

  • @JRperez-tw8xn
    @JRperez-tw8xn 2 роки тому

    Does it block out the sun? How’s the shade?

    • @LiveTodayLikeItMatters
      @LiveTodayLikeItMatters  2 роки тому +1

      We have the Solid top on ours, so yes, it does block the sun. It does get hot on the inside, so we roll the sides up. And use a box fan. We would not recommend leaving it in the sun for lengths of time. It can make the top weak. We added a rain flap to the top of ours to help protect the top from the sun and weather.

    So this spring we bought one of these bad boys for camping. This week in a storm every anchor point ripped out. Every one. I called customer service and they said it’s not a manufacturer issue. They don’t warrant for weather events. I asked what is it supposed to shelter us from if not weather. No reply. They said these are not to be left unattended or up in inclement weather. I asked if I am in it and it starts raining I have to take it down in the bad weather? They said yes. I said both your product and your customer service are shit. Do not buy one.

    • @LiveTodayLikeItMatters
      @LiveTodayLikeItMatters  2 роки тому

      That sad to hear!! We take ours down in bad weather. We’ve seen shelters ripped from the ground in storms and it makes us nervous to leave ours out. We did have a tear in ours (not weather related), and Clam replaced it.
