i also like the gazelle, however, it is so massive when packed down, its hard to store lol, also because of the unique floor, bugs get inside the tent in the corners and my buddy actually had a scorpion get inside his lol, its a great shelter though, so i can see why its a fave of yours :)
@@Wuldier WTF a scorpion? That's so freaky 😱 I've never had any bug issues with mine cos I try to get the floor to as tight a seal as possible, but then again I could be lucky. We'll see.
@@CampingGuidance have you removed the floor yet? its dang near impossible to get back the way it come lol. and yeah check out in the corners, that's where the little buggers get in from mostly.. lol
Holy crap, not only did you spend all of the money, you took the time to do the tests, set up and tear down each tent, did measurements, crunched the numbers and I’m sure a lot more. Thank you so much, I have been debating most of these tents. Great video!
Oooh I'm really glad to be able to help! 🥰 Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know you liked the video, I really appreciate it! Hope you won't have to spend too much time debating all the different tents now hahaha
@@steveolive9991 NOOOOO WAY man that's sooo scummy. I literally still have every single tent you see here in this video. It's so unethical to buy a tent, use it, and return it to the manufacturer and no loss to yourself. Yucks.
BTW I did go with the Core 9, it came without any defects thankfully. My family used it for three days of camping in light rain, extreme heat and mild wind, it worked well for us with no issues thankfully. Thanks again for helping me make the decision 🙏

I bought the Gazelle T4 about 3 yrs ago, & couldn’t be happier. I got it to replace an Ozark Trail 8 person Instant Up, that I discovered wasn’t so instant up. As my disability progressed, I still wanted to be able to go tent camping with a tent tall enough to stand in, and to stay in comfortably for several days. The Gazelle fit that bill in that the initial set up takes me about 60 seconds. Putting on the rain fly & staking it out took a little less time than you list, because I replaced the pegs with ones I can drive in with an impact driver. On my first trip with it, I got hit with 2 days of torrential rains, & the tent kept me bone dry. No leaking seams, as you experienced. No rain blowing under the fly in 30-40 mph winds. The only problem I had was one side imploding in the wind, which was easily fixed by tightening the line on that side. The only other con to the Gazelle is that it doesn’t really pack that small. It’s still about 5 ft long when packed, and it’s a bit heavy too. But all in all, it’s a perfect tent for my needs.
I'm a stickler for features in every product I buy, from electronics, to cars, to camping stuff....this is BY FAR the best review of any set of products I've ever seen....and I've seen a lot.
I have had my Gazelle T4. We’re going on four years. It’s been through rain storms with very high gusty winds. And has held up beautifully. However there is one problem and that is the hubs. The center hub at the top of the tent has two nuts that hold the hub together those nuts loosened up and allowed the center hub to collapse. When that happened, the rain fly, departed the tent and ripped three of the four fly bungee attachment chords off the four side hubs. This was an easy fix and I recommend checking these nuts every once in a while. I would also suggest a little bit of Loctite on the threads of these hubs. I disagree with the water intrusion in the windows. When it’s raining hard, you can zip them up and leave some openings for ventilation along with the huge mesh at the top of the tent. I agree with the tie wraps at the doors. Another thing that I would like to see is color coded inside and outside zippers. Yes, I agree. It’s very heavy but then again it’s not meant to be a backpacking tent. Another thing is it doesn’t come with a waterproof carrying bag. It would be nice for people with small vehicles with roof racks for outside of vehicle transport. I have the green version and my buddy has the orange. The orange I believe does better in the UV sun plus when the sun comes up it lights up the tent much better. As far as the power cord access, it doesn’t have that easily fixable by slipping the cord anywhere in the Velcro floor attachments. I have even considered and have used it in four seasons with an electric 1500 W heater. Unfortunately the large amount of ventilation mesh. Let’s a lot of heat out through the top. I have replaced the rain fly that blew off in that big windstorm and am planning on cutting it down to size and using it to help block out the escaping heat. I love my Gazelle T4 .
Liz spending your own money to test for us is great. Thank you for your unbiased review. Btw, I love your yard and the surrounding to film the tents setup. Very nice!
Liz, this video is incredible. The amount of detail, the quality of the video, the comprehensive review of each one. Absolutely amazing! Thank you so much ❤
Hi. I'm starting to have some mobility issues (lower back) but the Gazelle seems like a great option. However, how are you finding the door for ducking in and out of the tent?
@ I would prefer it be straight in but I’m used to it. Same lower back issues..I call it my reminder button..you’re too old to be climbing on counter tops!
Hey Liz, I'm literally flabbergasted looking at the pain & effort you had put to create this wonderful video for us to watch and learn so many intricate details on camping tents. I've been watching so many videos on UA-cam about camping & different types of tents for past 2 months now and I can bet there is no other video on UA-cam to match your quality of content on tents. You are an inspiring person with a lot of patience and I truely appreciate all your efforts and hope this channel to reach more & more interested people to learn & grow. Lots of ❤ & ✌🏼
Hey Dinesh! Thank you so much for the kind words, and I'm really glad that you liked all the details in this video 🥰 It was a little painstaking HAHA but it feels worth it cos you guys like it! Sending you lots of love too! ❤
Now this! This! This is a tent review!!! Anything less is a waste of time to watch! I'm a camper! 50 years! I've had every thing from A-Z in the tent world and most tent reviews are just effortless unboxing! I made my own tent 20 years ago simply because i was tired of buying tents year after year! It's still as good as the day I made it! I wish reviews like this was around 50 years ago! I say excellent job! I never click like or subscribe! Yet this video changed that!
AWWW thank you so so much for the kind words, for the like and the sub too! It truly means a lot to me that you liked it so much, especially since you have way more experience than me. 🥰
@@CampingGuidance I took a white 35 ml. Fabric 99% U.V. Reflective that can be welded with a hand held hot air welder. The fabric is tear proof, and it doesn't matter if you touch the inside of the tent in a rain and can use the side as a back rest! The sides is one piece 7 feet wide 40 feet 4 inches long. The 4 inches is too allow a 2 inch overlap to allow for welding. The bottom and top was 10' 4 inches square again to allow 2 inches of overlap to weld them together. Once welded together I took measurements and with the help of a blacksmith using 3/4 inch conduit made 4 separate supports for the inside. Each side has 2 pieces and the blacksmith made male and female ends to easily slide them together. For the top I had him make a " X " with a 5 inch rise to shed water. Windows I cut out and decided 3 x 2 feet using velcro to hold the screen into place yet can be removed and replaced easily. For the window coverings I made them 5 x 3 feet to avoid a rain issue and can canopy the window coverings if weather permits. The coverings have ties since all I have to do is use the same material and weld the ties anywhere I need and also make tent stake loops! The window coverings are simply welded centered above the 3 windows. For the door it's two parts. One is like a window covering simply centered and welded above the door. Again also doubled as a awning. I also put a second 2 piece door covering which is welded to the side of the door and has a overlap of 8 inches when closed. For the screen I used velcro then put a self sticky zipper on using shoe goo to finish the application. After installing I simply unzipped it and cut the screen exposed and a zipper closing screen is installed. So 99 % UV reflective no heat is absorbed and it stays much cooler than a normal tent. Plus it can be heated with a candle as it's fabric holds heat as well as sheds it! I've been to yellowstone with it twice and rangers always stop and say genius! I put a My Tent label and they always ask where I got the tent because they can't find a web site! It's only 10 feet x 10 feet, 100 square feet but it is enough for me! Now the material I went dumpster diving! I bought the screen velcro and air welder! Plus paid a blacksmith. I made a shelf of the fabric on the inside that folds up and away held by velcro when not in use that holds my stove and cast iron pans just below a window for ventilation while cooking and the fabric can hold the weight of a man sitting in it! But we all know cooking outside is the best yet rain, freezing mornings you just don't want to go out start a fire for coffee! I know, I know! But it is a lifetime tent. It is waterproof up to 10 inches of water and will float if set on a body of water with a person in it! I know, but I haven't bought a tent in 20 years and it still looks brand new!
@@offgridselfteliant OH WOW that's A LOT of work hahah. Thank you so much for all that info!! 🥰 I'll definitely re-visit this comment in the future when I try to make my own. I'm intrigued!!
@@CampingGuidance it was a lot of work! Worth every bit! The fabric is duro last roofing material! It didn't take long to aquire enough material! I still dive that dumpster!
Also there’s sealant for the Gazelle t4 hub plus. I have camped in the rain and stayed dry every time. Rain poured down in buckets one of my trips and the only place that was dry was inside of the tent. I also have camped in severe wind and had no issues.
Hey Karen! Thanks so much for the tip! Were you able to seal the hubs that were sticking out of the walls of the tent? I have no idea how to seal those 😅
Honestly I got it used on Facebook marketplace. The guy I bought it from said he’d sealed it. I just know I’ve never been wet despite seeing the tent up in torrential downpour rain that left puddles within seconds on the tarp I was using at the time (I now use a footprint). I think perhaps the hubs discourage rain from their design. The t4+ seems to me to have a bigger rain fly as well. That could be a difference perhaps?
@@karenmasters9837 That's really good to hear! And yeah you're right, I think the T4 Plus will definitely be much better in rain, especially cos I think the fly covers all the weak parts of the tent that I've experienced. I've been wanting to get that for months but I still can't find it locally for less than $1,500.
We love our Gazelle T4, and in fairness, with the removable floor that velcros in, anywhere can be a power port or floor level vent if you're careful with it. Thanks for such a comprehensive review!!
@@UA-camuser1aa While we haven't been in a situation where I would need to open up the tent floor as a vent, I would think bugs getting in while a possibility would be minimal as the only time I could see doing that is in a torrential downpour where bugs aren't quite as active. As far as running a power cord in the velcro should close up tightly on either side of the cord so no worries there.
I have one of the Gazelle 4 tents. The first night I used it, there was a hell of a storm with high winds. Absolutely waterproof. That storm lasted all night. Didn't matter how much rain was happening, it stayed dry. The Flooring is 'tub' style, I could actually feel I was walking on a lot of water under my tent (because I didn't realize the backyard turned into a swamp when it rained hard). But Nothing got thru the tent. So, I loudly dispute her conclusion that the Gazelle couldn't make it thru heavy rain. It is the best tent I've ever had.
Oh wow I'm really glad to hear that the Gazelle could keep you completely dry! And yeah the floor is really thick with a great waterproof rating, so it's meant to keep you dry even if your backyard has turned swampy 😁 But you didn't have any issues with the hubs and pocket seams leaking?
I came here to say the same thing. I had mine in multiple severe rainstorms. Completely dry. Additionally, you should never take out the flooring when packing it away. Putting it back in is a pain just clean it while put up.
@@CampingGuidance the floor is Velcro, so easy to take out. But a pain to put it back in. Just very time consuming and you have to readjust the position a lot.
@@EnderXeno1983 Oh hmm I didn't have too much of a problem with mine, I was able to do it within a couple minutes. But I can understand it takes significantly longer to put back then take out haha. If there's anything I can help with, just reach out!
I have the gazelle tent, and it seems easy to transport. It fit perfectly at the edge of my trunk. I lift weights, so it doesn't seem very heavy. It did rain one night, and i didn't see any water in the tent. Im glad i chose the Gazelle tent.
Liz, you are absolutely fantastic. E.g. the comparison to non-instant tents is a sublime idea. I have no reason whatsoever to buy these kind of tents and yet I find myself looking at your videos because of the quality. I so wish for the day you will review light-weight backpacking gear!
Hey Jens! Thank you so much 🥰 I'm really glad that you liked the video! And I really appreciate all of your constant comments and support on the channel 🥰 Oooh sadly I'm not really much of a backpacker, but I do have some backpacking trips on my bucket list, so I'll eventually have to get into that! 😆 What type of backpacking gear would you like to see?
@@CampingGuidance Hmm... ok here are some thoughts. 1. I like the 1--4 person semi-lightweight tents, like the Teton Sports Mountain Ultra you did 2. Lightweight kitchens that you actually can cook with (In Sweden we have something like that called Trangia kitchens) 3. Walking merino wool t-shirts and good walking/camping pants 4. Down sleeping bags 5. How you would pack a not-so-ultralight-but-kind-of-light backpack And other cross-overs between camping and backpacking like lighters and lampst, to get cross-hobby appeal. I've seen channels with ULTRA-SUPER-DUPER-LIGHTEST-GEAR-EVER, but I'd like to see the Sensible-Weighted-Geart-For-Reaonable-Prices channel :) Those are my 2 cents. I'll still follow your channel, no matter what you review 🥰 Where are you planning to go on your backpacking trips?
@@jenno954 Hey Jens! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave me such a detailed, well-thought out reply, I really appreciate it 🥰 Those are some really good ideas for someone who isn't all that into ultralight backpacking haha (I don't think I could ever do that!), but one day I definitely want to try. Oooh if you're looking for lamps/lanterns I do have stuff planned this year! I hope to be able to get out solar lanterns, which I think backpackers like because they're so lightweight, so maybe some of those in there could help you out a little! As for my backpacking trips, I'm hoping to one day make it to Nepal and Everest Base Camp (that's at the top of my bucket list). It's not a cheap trip though so I'm still trying to save up money to do so. Any backpacking trails that you might recommend?
@@CampingGuidance Yes, here in Sweden there are some trails you should do, like Skåneleden (that is south Sweden) along the coastline. And Bohusleden along the west coast. The Höga Kusten-trail (high coast) is also very beautiful. You are from Singapore, right? I liked walking along lake Como in Italy, too, and also into the mountains from Como. I would like to hike in Austria, with the mountains towering over me, that would be awesome. Nepal and Everest base camp sounds amazing, I have never been to mountains in Asia, except for walking up a volcano on Bali. I would love for you to do a review of camping trips you do, btw
I am so glad I found your channel, looking for a new tent and this has been some of the best testing and presentation I have seen on you tube, well done.
Thanks for the offer, greatly appreciated, I live in Canada so have a few different brands here, but this is what I like about your presentations and analysis it tells you what features to look for like full flys taped seams etc…
@@DADA-pl4tm I really appreciate that! I'm glad you liked all the details 🥰 Ah yeah sadly I'm not too familiar with what's available in Canada though :(
Another excellent review and some new graphics to boot. I think the current format and length is appropriate for the amount of information that you want to convey. The tables/charts help a lot and are effective. However, I do want to see how your new format will work out. I have a bone to pick though. Your chart shows that the T4 has no power port. However, you can pull the floor a bit out at any point you want to pass a power cord through. To me, that is way better than a fixed location. That's because you can then orient the tent any way you want and pass the cord through at a point closest to the power pedestal, and/or route it so that it has the least chance to become a tripping hazard. A YT reviewer of the Gazelle G6 gazebo told me that the denser mesh on it definitely does not allow as much ventilation as other gazebos with less dense mesh. I wonder if that is your experience with the tents. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for the comment, kind words and the feedback! 🥰 Oh! It's nice to know that you like the length and format. I've recently been getting more and more comments (as YT spreads the videos out to more viewers) that I sometimes go over a ridiculous amount of info, which is why I decided that maybe I should cut it down 😅 Perhaps I can do a mix of both in the future! OMG and that is such a great point that I didn't think to put in the video (face palm). I have no idea why my brain totally farted on that. Thank you for letting me know! I'll have to remember that for next time. Just a heads up though, I realized my next video on cabin tents has the exact same mistake and it's already almost done so I can't get it changed oh dear 😅😅😅 Hmm I've definitely heard a lot about how hot the tent can get, but I don't think I've personally felt too much of that when camping in the Gazelle. Perhaps it's because it's always scorching in Singapore and the slight temp increase in the Gazelle wasn't noticeable. I'll get that tested out next time with the gazebo! I do hope to be able to do a review of that in the future 😁
I am 45 seconds in and I can already tell this will be a great video. Great organization of thought and rating. On top of that the percent of time savings is a solid way to analyze and contrast things. Well done. And 2k? I hope you get a ton more views!
I'm very impressed with your level of detail and how clearly you relay all the information. I watched your Gazelle T4 review prior to buying my T4 Plus tent last year and i am very pleased. Would love to see your review of the Gazelle T4 Plus tent, ifnyou get the chance. Thanks!
Oh wow thank you so much for the kind words and another comment! I'm really glad that I could help out a bit. And yesss I'm still waiting for the price to drop, maybe during Prime Day or Black Friday or something!
I don't know how you do all the amazing video editing, but I'm sure glad you do! I"m anxious for camping weather to get here! Thanks for another awesome video!
Heyyy Robert!! Thank you so much for another comment and all the kind words 🥰 And here's the secret - I don't actually do the editing by myself anymore 😆 I'm currently working with an editor (he started working for me 2 months ago so I've been training him), and I hope we can speed up soon to get out more gear reviews! I hope camping weather comes soon for you too! 🤞

Hahaha aww thanks so much Robert! Glad that you noticed them! And I'm really glad that you liked the review too! 🥰 Though it's naturally not as interesting as the monkeys 😆
LOL, WOW. I didn't need a tent. I found myself just watching because she was amazing. I would say that this is one of the best reviews of any product I have seen. It was not just the product that kept me watching, it was the way she kept me interested. LOL because I immediately bought the Caddis 6 person and I don't know why, maybe she used the Jedi mind trick on me. I would probably buy anything from her. She must have spent weeks putting this together
the crazy thing is, i genuinely have a few very good tents, MH EV2 (Trango), TNF Wawona 6, TNF Storm break 2 to name a few, but one of my fave tents as my "go to tent" has been my Coleman 4 person instant cabin tent, its held out wind and rain no worries for me, its waterproof without a fly but i still use it, and i love that because it enables me to set it up in the rain without it getting wet inside during the setup. its weather rating here should be a lot higher, love the videos though! :)
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing about your experience with the Coleman Instant 4! I'm surprised that it held up so well for you against rain and wind, my experience with it wasn't so great strangely 🤔 did you do any waterproofing to yours? Cos that will definitely help for sure. And aww I really appreciate you sharing too! Feel free to let me know how I can improve, anything you add is very much appreciated 🥰
@@CampingGuidance hey there! i appreciate the reply :) no i deffo didn't do anything extra to it like waterproofing. i have noticed that the seem sealing works great but i don't think it will last long before it falls off lol. so we will see.
@@Wuldier I appreciate the reply too! 🥰 And dang how come mine didn't work the same way hahaha maybe I was a little more unlucky 😅 Hope it doesn't fall off too soon so you can enjoy it more 😅
Do you have a link of where you bought it from? I really want this tent but a lot of people say it’s not water proof but I’ve seen a few say it is and I wonder if it depends on where you buy it from thanks!
I have a T4, I glued all the Velcro around the floor to keep bugs from getting in, because no matter how well I installed the floor I always had ants and other small insects getting in which drove my wife nuts,I never remove the floor anyway. It looks like you tied your guy lines to the rain fly, I stake out the four hubs which keeps it from popping in with high winds, really strengthens the structure of the tent. Mine also leaked so now I tarp it, I love this tent for the easy setup and roominess but hate the doors😂
An excellent review! I am not an experienced camper, however a couple of things I can note from my last camping trip. First time with my new standing tent. Unless you are filling up the tent with people or spending considerable time in it, the vertical walls are not too much of an issue. As long as you can move around easily in the central area you'll be fine because you will not be trying to stand in the corners. The walls flapping into you as you sleep by the sides will be more of an issue. Ventilation sounds good, but if you are camping in a cold area it may make your life tougher. I was freezing up in the mountains, as the cold wind easily blew into the tent. I would be happy with the coleman's ventilation as long as it was adequate.
Thank you so much! 🥰 And yeah the vertical walls don't matter so much if you don't spend too much time in it! I think it's just a matter of finding out what's important to you and what's not 🥰
Hey Dick! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and the generous Super Thanks as well! I'm glad you liked this video enough for that, thank youuu 🥰 Which tent are you going with?
@@ricardoneto7789 Thank you so much Ricardo! That truly means a lot to me that you liked this video 🥰 I thought it was gonna be a bad video because of how lengthy it was, but I'm really happy with the response!
Amazing video. Thank you for taking the time and money to create this content. I’m looking for a tent for a camping trip and you’re the only person that sold me on a tent.
Hey Chris! I'm glad to hear that, I didn't think the Gazelle could be used in winter. Btw, which fan are you using? I'm testing out a few now, but am interested in more suggestions.
Excellent! I have a Gazelle t4...... and 10 other tents. The t4 and a 2 person Kelty and a 2 person single hub tent are what I carry with me. Unless there is more people besides my dog and I lol. Good Job!
@CampingGuidance some are quite old lol. I camp out of a prius and pull a little trailer that can be pulled by a motorcycle, a far cry from my backpacking days! I've put about 40,000 miles on the trailer In the last 3 years. I've got quite a bit of footage on a lot of campsites that I'm going to (hopefully) upload this winter. Currently at Gulpha Campground in Arkansas for week, using it as a home base for exploring all the Lake Quachita campsites, there are some absolutely great ones down here! Keep up the good work!
Liz! You're awesome. Thanks! I looked into getting a Gazelle tent, but as someone who drives a sedan, I found them to be just too damn tall to fit in a trunk when folded up.
Hey Matt! Aww thank you, you're awesome too! 🥰😉 Oh yes that is one of the biggest issues with the Gazelle, not everyone can fit them into their cars :(
@@BackcountryPilgrim Actually I don't do the charts myself, I outsource them to an editor 😆 I'm not that great at editing myself HAHA. But if you check out my 6P tents video, that was the last one I did on my own, and the charts in there are just done up in Microsoft Word and then screenshotted 😆
Coverage points are very well done, with minor exception on weight as materials really effect this element. Note on fiberglass as we know is a composite unlike steel and provides better flexibility exempting spring steel which would bottom out the cost effectiveness. Though I wish you had the resources to cover the other Gazelle variants. I actually look forward to providing my review after a year of use on the Overland Edition of the T4 as it gets used in the "Rain Festival" (not an actual event) here in Washington State.
Hahaha yeah I've used it in hot weather before and it was over 100F in there. 😅 Oh but opening the ceiling mesh does help a little though in hot weather!
That is my experience with my Gazelle 4. I like my Gazelle but it has some drawbacks. It is untenable in 90+ degree weather. Also, fully packed it is 62 inches long so you need a full size SUV to transport it and it weighs 32 pounds which limits you to drive up campsites.
One more amazing video with the knowing you have, you get better and better everyday 🙂👍 I'm anxious for your review of the easy 2s, will be the cherry on the top of the cake 😁 Btw, I thinking when I change my easy 2s to the 2024 version, upgrade for the 3p version, with the discounts I have it will be more cheaper for me 😁
Thank you so much Filipe!! 🥰 I really appreciate all our conversations and how you're always supporting me on my videos too! OH YEAH DAMN the easy would have been great to put in here since it does have more of an instant tent setup! Hmmm I guess I can remake this video in the future and put in new tents and also the Easy 😁 Oh wow! But isn't the 3P like super super expensive? I think it's easily like double or triple the price right? 😅
@@CampingGuidance It's a great honor ☺️ Yes do that and show the video to Decathlon for they sponsor you 😃 Yes, it is the double but I will buy the awning that is 70€. But with discount of Revolut more a voucher of old sleeping bags I don't use anymore, and they will refund me in total what I paid from actual 2s easy, the upgrade will me cost only the price of awning. And 2s easy 3p have lateral vents like the pop up fresh and black. And beside they say it is not possible, there is space for 2 insuflate sleeping beds that fixed in my sleeping bag 2 in 1. And if I decided be crazy and buy the awning too, will be a true lounge 😁
Weird, I didn't get a notification for this comment!!! YT did it again 😅😅😅 I had to manually check to find this. HAHAHA whoahhhh it would be a dream to be sponsored by Decathlon. 19:11 The Coleman Instant tent was my first tent about 10 years ago, and it was a nightmare. Hopefully it has gotten better over the decade, but because of the really cheap tarp-like material as the floor (that rubbed-through where the ceiling hub made contact when folded down and stored), and the corners collapsing during rain storms, I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I went from that to the Northface Wawona 6 to the Gazelle T4 Plus. Those last two are fantastic.
Awesome reviews. Although I considered the Gazelle T4, we ended up with the Caddis Rapid 4 because of the wider door and the size when its packed. We love it! Thank you for all the work you put in.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you following along since the early days (though I'm still really small hahaha) 🥰 Let me know how your hammock tents go and which you'd recommend! 😁
Your video really helped me bite the bullet and choose the Gazelle instead of going cheap! Unfortunate didn't see the comments section/affiliated links. But i subscribe and liked, next camping equipment, ill check out your videos for the affiliated links, def deserve it.
Thank you so much JungSwon! And no worries about the links, some folks do miss it! It means a lot to me that you would want to revisit the channel to support it 🥰
Great review. I really appreciate your methodology and detail! I’d love to see a comparison of this level for some of the higher price hub tents (Overland(ish), Shiftpod, FSR) vs the Gazelle. I have a feeling the Gazelle will hold its on against these tents that cost 2 or 3 times as much.
Thank you so much for the great suggestion! I may do that in the future but not right now cos I don't have the funds to make that happen sadly haha. Maybe one day! 🥰
Thank you so much Richard! 🥰 I'm really glad that you liked the info and it wasn't too overwhelming, I've been getting quite a few comments about that lately 😅
Amazing channel and content. Subscribed straight away. FEEDBACK: I'm sure many ppl watching this are outside the US (like myself) so having metrics in cm and kg would be super helpful.
Aww thank you so much for the sub and comment, that means a lot to me! 🥰 I'll see what I can do to add more metrics! I was just worried about cluttering up the table and turning off viewers. What do you think?
Very detailed showdown between these and I'm pleasantly surprised by the Coleman 4P, seems like a great tent for two with a lot of gear storage or three in a pinch. The Gazelle IMHO is way to heavy and bulky, but makes up for it by being excellent overall. I think air pole tents also deserve some attention as the free standing ones like the Zempire Pronto 4 are really great and pack down pretty compact. Cheers on another great vid👍
Thank you so much again Wer Kar! All of your comments and feedback are definitely much appreciated 🥰 Ooooh and wow that's a great suggestion! I've never used air pole tents before but I've heard of them. Didn't think about putting them in the video though 😅 I'll see if I can get my hands on some one day! Do you have other suggestions apart from Zempire?
@@CampingGuidance Anytime Liz, self standing air pole tents are a breeze to setup, compared to the tunnel style ones. Apart from Zempire, I only saw a Dometic one and I know that Vango have a few models. If you do get one I suggest watching the pitching tutorial first as the tunnel style ones are quite fiddly. Cheers.
@@Werkar27 Thank you for all the suggestions Wer Kar! I'll definitely keep an eye out from those brands when I've got more cash to blow 😁😁😁 I've heard loads of good things about Vango so I'd especially love to try that out.
Thank you so much for another comment Benjamin! 🥰 And in terms of longevity, if the instant setup isn't such a big deal for you, go for regular tents. I don't have to be extra careful with those, cos I know I can always repair the poles easily 😁
Thank you for this amazing review. I’ve watched it 3x 😂 I have yet to make a decision for the smaller tent I need for car camping. My stays are typically only one day and I’m a solo traveler with my dog, therefore prefer an instant. Would you have an opinion on the Gazelle Tx3 vs the Core instant 4 person? Thanks again!
Thank yo so much for watching the video so many times Melissa! Haha that certainly helps my video in the YT algorithm 🥰 Hmm I think that depends on your budget (mainly). I haven't tried the Gazelle T3x but I assume most of the tests I did would be applicable (but do double-check the official specs first), and I'm a big Gazelle fan, so I'd get that. If budget is a concern, the Core would be better!
Gazelle T4 Hub or Wawona 6P? If you could choose only one, which? What feature(s) stand out to help you decide? I’m pondering between these two. I have a 2024 Outback with roof rails, so I might not need to drop a seat back down to make the T4 fit. Thanks!
I've heard loads of good things about Zempire! But I'm a little broke now so... Probably have to wait for a big sale to pull the plug on one of them! I've had my eye on the EVO for a while now 🥰
@@CampingGuidance I will do my part and watch a few more videos :D I just bought a Gazelle based on your very thorough review. I appreciate all that you put into your channel!
nice video thanks. i have the coleman 4 which i bought for emergency purposes for 75 a couple years back. still havent set it up and one reason was i was trying to get the rainfly which at the time was impossible to get... ill just use a tarp was my thought
Everything she says about the Gazelle tent is true except for the water intrusion. I personally own and LOVE my T4 plus overland edition. Setup from laying down the ground sheet to full pop-up and staked down takes less than five minutes. The tent CAN be used in heavy wind conditions; you need to attach guide lines to the loop where the pull out handles are and stake those down (that’ll prevent the hub from collapsing) as well as the securing the rain fly. My buddies and I got caught in a wind/rain storm. While we had to stay inside and hold down the Gazelle Gazebos. We just watched the T4 take every gust and barely even move. After the winds and rain had died done, we rushed to secure the gazebo the same we were secured the tent (roping down and staking the lines) zero collapsing issues.
@@UA-camuser1aa I’m pretty meticulous when it comes to making sure the Velcro is secured in place so there is no gaps. My buddies and I were camping in the mountains; a strong wind/rain storm blew in on us and everything in the tent was dry. Did not experience any water leaks/intrusion.

i actually live across the street from an REI store, i might see about that rapid 6..
i also like the gazelle, however, it is so massive when packed down, its hard to store lol, also because of the unique floor, bugs get inside the tent in the corners and my buddy actually had a scorpion get inside his lol, its a great shelter though, so i can see why its a fave of yours :)
@@Wuldier Oooh let me know if you end up getting that!

Her content is amazing.

Now this!

AWWW thank you so so much for the kind words, for the like and the sub too! It truly means a lot to me that you liked it so much, especially since you have way more experience than me. 🥰
Oh wow and how did you make your own tent?
Same, Gazelle beats all
@@karenmasters9837 That's really good to hear! And yeah you're right, I think the T4 Plus will definitely be much better in rain, especially cos I think the fly covers all the weak parts of the tent that I've experienced. I've been wanting to get that for months but I still can't find it locally for less than $1,500.
@@NorthernCoveCreations glad you think so!
We love our Gazelle T4, and in fairness, with the removable floor that velcros in, anywhere can be a power port or floor level vent if you're careful with it. Thanks for such a comprehensive review!!
That's definitely a really great point that I should have added. Thank you for letting me know! 🥰 I'm glad you still liked the review anyway!
What about bugs
@@EnderXeno1983 Hmm why is putting it back a pain though?

1. I like the 1--4 person semi-lightweight tents, like the Teton Sports Mountain Ultra you did
2. Lightweight kitchens that you actually can cook with (In Sweden we have something like that called Trangia kitchens)
3. Walking merino wool t-shirts and good walking/camping pants
4. Down sleeping bags
5. How you would pack a not-so-ultralight-but-kind-of-light backpack
And other cross-overs between camping and backpacking like lighters and lampst, to get cross-hobby appeal. I've seen channels with ULTRA-SUPER-DUPER-LIGHTEST-GEAR-EVER, but I'd like to see the Sensible-Weighted-Geart-For-Reaonable-Prices channel :)
Those are my 2 cents. I'll still follow your channel, no matter what you review 🥰
Where are you planning to go on your backpacking trips?

I am grateful for your thoroughness. Please keep up the work!
Just a heads up though, I realized my next video on cabin tents has the exact same mistake and it's already almost done so I can't get it changed oh dear 😅😅😅
Hmm I've definitely heard a lot about how hot the tent can get, but I don't think I've personally felt too much of that when camping in the Gazelle.

@@CampingGuidance hey there! i appreciate the reply :) no i deffo didn't do anything extra to it like waterproofing. i have noticed that the seem sealing works great but i don't think it will last long before it falls off lol. so we will see.

@@CampingGuidance haha thanks, it worked well this past weekend in wind/rain, its now absolutely covered in dust too. lol
Sounds like a bad design

I think it's just a matter of finding out what's important to you and what's not 🥰
Thanks! Liz! Super good work! Just retired in Maine and you are very helpful narrowing down the choices.
Hey Dick! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and the generous Super Thanks as well! I'm glad you liked this video enough for that, thank youuu 🥰 Which tent are you going with?
Your channel is so underrated
Aww thank you so much Sat! That really means the world to me 🥰
Thanks Liz for all your work and effort you have put into creating this video. Very well done 👍I’m sure this will help many people. 😉👍
@@ricardoneto7789 Thank you so much Ricardo! That truly means a lot to me that you liked this video 🥰 I thought it was gonna be a bad video because of how lengthy it was, but I'm really happy with the response!
Great unbiased opinions. Thanks for doing all that work.
Amazing video. Thank you for taking the time and money to create this content. I’m looking for a tent for a camping trip and you’re the only person that sold me on a tent.
Oh wow thank you so much for the kind words, that really means a lot to me 🥰 I'm glad you liked this!
Been waiting on this one. Thank you for being excellent.
Thank you so much David! I know I meant for this to come out months ago, sorry for the delay. I really appreciate your patience though 🥰
I have the t4 and love it. Its warmer so great when camping in winter. I have a rechargeable fan for cooling.
Hey Chris! I'm glad to hear that, I didn't think the Gazelle could be used in winter. Btw, which fan are you using? I'm testing out a few now, but am interested in more suggestions.
One of the best tent vids I have seen. Great job,😊
Aww thank you so much 🥰 I'm really glad you liked this!
Excellent! I have a Gazelle t4...... and 10 other tents. The t4 and a 2 person Kelty and a 2 person single hub tent are what I carry with me. Unless there is more people besides my dog and I lol. Good Job!
Thank you so much! 🥰 Oh wow you have enough tents to start a UA-cam channel too hahaha
🥰😉 Oh yes that is one of the biggest issues with the Gazelle, not everyone can fit them into their cars :(
have you thought about cross bars on your roof? i kayak so i added them to the last sedan we have but we have a crossover now and still have them.
@@skmfkr2 Great idea! I totally did not even think of that 😅
Wow what a fantastic review. Thank you so much 😊
Aww thank you for the kind words Saffy! 🥰 I'm really glad you liked this review.
1:30 . . . I think I found my youtube soulmate LOL! Love the charts!!!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHA awww that's so sweet of you!! Thank you so much and it really means a lot to me 🥰
@@CampingGuidance Love to know how you do your charts if you're willing to share your secrets! :)
I love my Gazelle T4 but that joker gets HOT. Even with all the window flaps open
I have one also …. The Magellan version is prob better in hot weather? It has diff screen material i think as well as additional lower windows.
Hahaha yeah I've used it in hot weather before and it was over 100F in there. 😅 Oh but opening the ceiling mesh does help a little though in hot weather!
I'll look into the Magellan next time when I have more saved up 😁
@@CampingGuidance that would be awesome. Will be waiting on that review!
That is my experience with my Gazelle 4. I like my Gazelle but it has some drawbacks. It is untenable in 90+ degree weather. Also, fully packed it is 62 inches long so you need a full size SUV to transport it and it weighs 32 pounds which limits you to drive up campsites.
This girl’s method of assessment is impressive 🫡
One more amazing video with the knowing you have, you get better and better everyday 🙂👍
I'm anxious for your review of the easy 2s, will be the cherry on the top of the cake 😁
Btw, I thinking when I change my easy 2s to the 2024 version, upgrade for the 3p version, with the discounts I have it will be more cheaper for me 😁
Thank you so much Filipe!! 🥰 I really appreciate all our conversations and how you're always supporting me on my videos too! OH YEAH DAMN the easy would have been great to put in here since it does have more of an instant tent setup! Hmmm I guess I can remake this video in the future and put in new tents and also the Easy 😁
Oh wow! But isn't the 3P like super super expensive? I think it's easily like double or triple the price right? 😅
@@CampingGuidance It's a great honor ☺️
Yes do that and show the video to Decathlon for they sponsor you 😃
Yes, it is the double but I will buy the awning that is 70€.
Oh yeah they haven't replied my email yet, but I'll just wait patiently 😅 And whoah you gotta love their trade-in program for you, that sounds awesome. I definitely gotta get the awning then 😁😁😁
@@CampingGuidance UA-cam like to trick us ahahah
Yes, if they sponsor you it will be amazing for you, and me because I will have independent reviews of their products 😁🫶
Yes I love because time to times I can upgrade my gear for a fraction of price 😁
And they make camping simple with their products that is great 😃
19:11 The Coleman Instant tent was my first tent about 10 years ago, and it was a nightmare.
HAHA I don't think it has gotten much better in my experience, cos I had the same problems 😆
Awesome reviews. Although I considered the Gazelle T4, we ended up with the Caddis Rapid 4 because of the wider door and the size when its packed. We love it! Thank you for all the work you put in.
thank you so much Lucia! 🥰 Oh that's really nice to hear that you liked the Caddis! And yeah the Gazelle is seriously too huge for some folks 😅
glad to see another review, and a big one! ive been thinking about trying out the hammock tents for boondocking this summer
It means a lot to me that you would want to revisit the channel to support it 🥰
Amazing video. Thank you for taking the time to do this. It was really helpful..
It was my pleasure. Thank you so much for letting me know 🥰
Fantastic reviews! So committed.
This was a great test, lots of info. Great job Liz!.
Thank you so much Richard! 🥰 I'm really glad that you liked the info and it wasn't too overwhelming, I've been getting quite a few comments about that lately 😅
I wish I could give you a 10 thumbs up. Why is this video not viral?
Aww that's so sweet!! Thank youuuuu 🥰 Maybe one day it will go viral, YT is unpredictable like that hahaha
Great comparison! Thanks for that!!
I absolutely love how you presented this review!!!!!!
Thank you so much!! 🥰
Loved your review! Question: If the CADDIS 6 beat out the Gazelle T4 for weather, how did the T4 get the higher score?
Thank you very much. Very informative, worth ypu money and effort!
Thanks! What a lot of work you put into this!
Haha it was a lot of work for sure, but I enjoyed the process! Thank you so much to you too Lynne for the kind words 🥰
That was really well done, thank you. When you have saved up again could you do best inflatable tent / shelter?
That's been requested quite a bit, so I guess I will have to save up and do it sometime in the future! Thank you so much for letting me know 🥰
Wow! You dis an AWESOME and COMPREHENSIVE analysis!
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked this 🥰
Great review!! So helpful!!
Great content! So in terms of longevity and maintainability (replacement of parts, etc.) Will you prefer instant or regular tents (w/ poles)?
I ordered the TX3, thanks!
@@MelissaSD-CA Let me know how it goes!
Gazelle T4 Hub or Wawona 6P? If you could choose only one, which? What feature(s) stand out to help you decide? I’m pondering between these two. I have a 2024 Outback with roof rails, so I might not need to drop a seat back down to make the T4 fit. Thanks!
Everything I needed and more! Good vid
I appreciate that Suhtang! Your comments and kind words mean a lot to me 🥰
Seriously impressive video
thank you so much Danner! Really appreciate that 🥰
Such a great review video! Have you considered reviewing the Zempire tents that REI is carrying now? The inflatables are pretty cool!

Great video as always! Thank you hope you keep it up 👍🏼
I definitely will! Thank you so much and I'm glad that you liked the video 🥰
This is great info! Thank you for doing this comparison!
Hey Leon! Thank you so much for your lovely comment, it really means a lot to me that you liked the info! 🥰
nice video thanks. i have the coleman 4 which i bought for emergency purposes for 75 a couple years back. still havent set it up and one reason was i was trying to get the rainfly which at the time was impossible to get... ill just use a tarp was my thought
Yeah a tarp is fine too! Would be better than the rainfly for sure, cos it was tiny and didn't help me at all 😅
Fantastic review. Well done. Thank you.
thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked this 🥰
Incredible reviews. Wow. Thank you!
Thank you so much Luke! 🥰
Any gaps in the Velcro floor?
@@UA-camuser1aa I’m pretty meticulous when it comes to making sure the Velcro is secured in place so there is no gaps. My buddies and I were camping in the mountains; a strong wind/rain storm blew in on us and everything in the tent was dry. Did not experience any water leaks/intrusion.
I came here for the tents but wow your backyard is pretty
Aww thank you I appreciate that! It helps when you live in the tropics, there's not a lot of maintenance hahaha
The Core 9, here in Canada, comes with a full length rain fly. It works very well in hard rain.
Thanks for letting me know! 🥰 I don't have it here in Singapore where I am though, but maybe one day I'll see if I can get it shipped in!
Now this is the way to make o comparison video. Hellueah!! Thank you
Thank you! Caddis for us. 🤙🏼

Thanks for your hard work..this really helps
I'm really happy to hear that! 🥰 Thank you!
Nice work here.....appreciate your efforts here.,...as I am looking for one for remote camping :)
I’ve owned the gazelle t3 for 6 years, I absolutely love it! gazelle goes make a 8 person tent (with 2 rooms)
That's awesome to know! Thank you so much for sharing 🥰 I'm waiting for a sale on the T4 plus!
Thanks for all the good, useful info. After watching the entire video I have just 1 question: do you have enough tents?!?😊
thank you so much Brian! 🥰 HAHAHA nooooo there can never be enough tents 😁
Awesome breakdown!
