I tried both the dal Makhnis, the one with chanadal and this one without chanadal. The one with chanadal is more creamier. Infact I used fresh tomatoes for both the dals.
sir i love your recipes but here i want to give some tips to cook daal properly with simple and easy way. jab daal ko boil krna ho us waqt daal ko pehle pani aur msale daal kar ek boil aane de. uske baad dhakan band krna aur sim par siti lgwaye wo bhi sirf 2. daal ek dm gl jayegi. ye meri saasu-ma ki trick hai. but faide wali hai.

Yeah though his recipes are really nice he always suggests a longer process where a shorter one will do just as well. The shortest way to make dal makhani is to cook your dal wholly instead of partially in the cooker while preparing onion tomato masala on another burner. Add this masala and some water to the cooker and cook another 15-20 min covered on medium low flame to infuse the flavours properly. Not only does it save a lot of time the taste is just as good. Mine takes no more than 45-50 min
