Very easily and clearly explained, Antoine. I really like how you incorporated that simple motif with the extensions that not only adds and resolves tension, but adds so much to the chord quality and inner voice leading. I love composing with these things in mind.
I love this kind of stuff man. I've been playing guitar for 20+ years (now I sound old), am well-versed in theory, and know my way around the fretboard pretty well. But your chordal stuff always approaches things differently than I've ever been introduced to, and those stretchy chords give my hands a real workout. Keep it up!
Antoine very well !!!!!!!, I remember exactly when I asked you the question of this beautiful chord progression, the change that comes with just adding a new voice is wonderful. Thanks my friend.
heeey Antoine! I love your channel and content. I was wondering why you don't highlight the intervals in the chord diagrams? thank you so much for your hard work man! wish you all the best
This video could be 1 minute long, instead of 11 min. I don’t think you believe the audience actually wants to play guitar, but just hang out on their phones (like me!!! Thanks for taking 11am off my clock!! I can’t stand existence anyways!!)
So I'm still really digging this lesson, and have been doing big chord studies and already wrote some music based on this actually! I was curious though instead of taking a 4 chord progression with all the highest notes the same, what if you made all the middle notes the same or even the lowest notes the same?!?! Have you tried this? Is it worth to experiment? or is having the highest note on all chords the same the best way to do this? (hopefully that makes sense)
You're right, it works anywhere! And as the lowest note it's even better! We call this a ''pedal tone'' or ''pedal point'' and it's absolutely beautiful! I talk about this a bit in this lesson: ua-cam.com/video/DbpLhS_0MjY/v-deo.html
Cool. Thanks for sharing. Retooling my live rig - you've helped to inspire that! (now have Circuit, JDXi, RC-505, Deepmind 12).... Antoine - Question for you - I see you use Apple & Mainstage. I've been torn between keeping my rig all hardware and no computer - but torn - have you been happy with your Mainstage setup? What do you think of that compared to going with Apple Mac and Ableton Push 2?
Honestly, Mainstage and a Macbook Pro laptop was the easiest, most flexible solution for me to quickly learn my keyboard parts and fly to play on tour with the band. We could pick any keyboard controller at any venue and my setup would work. I've had one time in Poland where I've got a bug and my computer wasn't recognizing my audio interface, but we're talking one big issue in 4 years. Pretty great. I can't really say much more, or compare to something else because it's the only thing I've ever known and it works for me.
