Wish I'd seen this before I attempted my first g16b swap. I made all the noob mistakes possible but it runs and drives now!! Why don't you do a vid to talk through the full floater you built and let people know it's for sale.
Hey thanks for the vid, subbed! just got a g16b Vitara as a doner, I keep seeing something about grafting the sump and oil pickup, what exactly do you have to do? What does the Vitara sump foul on? Cheers
Hey mate. Cheers appreciate the subscribe. You need to use a sierra sump/oil pick up. The sump is a straight bolt on in your case, but the pickup needs to be cut/shut. I will do a video on it soon.
@@redzook1 Awesome! I was all worried, because the engine I bought comes with a cold air intake... That wouldn't work so well for me up here in Seattle. I'd water lock the engine without even trying.
This type of thing gives me major anxiety.I have a good 16b in the driveway for my Streetmobile and dread even pulling the harness. It will happen at some point just not sure when.
Whats the difference between the g13b and g16b wiring if any, I m in the middle of reattatching everything and if I can just go get a new harness and do that thatd be way easier
how hard is the sump to sort out ? g13ba sump needs to be modded to fit the CAS from the g16b ? anything i can buy off the shelf to avoid having to cut and weld ?
thanks man i will get a mate who is good at welding to do that part for me. one more question. is 250,000km high milage for one of these 1.6 baleno engines ?
@@redzook1 sorry for picking your brain, what accelerator cable do you use when you do these conversion with the coil pack baleno motor into the serria ? im guessing the ecu is best mounted in the glove box with the wires being fed into the existing grommet on the fire wall over that side.
You can buy a certain vitara sump that has the CAS hole built in. So it’s bolt on but they are hard to come buy and you need a lift so the sump doesn’t smash your diff lol
I have just done this exact swap but i am using my throtle body and shit off my old engine but i diddnt swap the looms over because there is no point but one f*cking wire that i cant find is the wire to plug into the crank sensor, any ideas?
I actually found the problem, and i have to swap the cams over because the grand vitaras dont run with a crank sensor, the cam sensor acualy run the timing but the balino engine runs a crank sensor aswell as the cam sensor
Great video thanks heaps!! Subscribed! Keen to see more on this conversion!
Great video. Makes me more confident in the swap cheers mate 👍
That's what i do it for.
@@redzook1 completed the conversion in a vitara tho! Cheers legend 🤙 now you need to do one for g16b turbo installs haha just got quoted 15k..... 🤣

Hopefully the vid will help some people!
I might get to that at some point! Fair bit on my plate ATM!
A tip : watch movies at Flixzone. I've been using it for watching lots of of movies lately.
@Aries Gregory Definitely, been using flixzone for since december myself =)

check engine light is for emissions mostly
Not really. It will give quite a few pointers

@@redzook1 awesome thank you very much mate
This was helpful but need to make a more comprehensive how to for the people who have no idea about electrical
If you have no idea, you probably shouldn't be starting with wiring in an efi engine swap
Epic video mate. Have done a heap of G13B turbo swaps but about to tackle first Baleno swap. Where do you put the ECu?
Awesome vid man. Just wondering what goes on the alternator? Not the plug but the post with the nut on top. Do I just ground it?
Please dont ground that!
Thats the charge wire, use either the factory suzuki one or run a new one.
Nice ... Btw, is it engine mount to be changed also? Which gearbox do you use?
Stock gbox with an adaptor kit.
hello!! nice video!! do you have a diagram for that wiring ? thanks!! from Argentina!
Awesome, so I can use the original Samurai air filter housing with the 1.6L 16 Valve engine?
Thats how i do them yep
@@redzook1 Awesome! I was all worried, because the engine I bought comes with a cold air intake... That wouldn't work so well for me up here in Seattle. I'd water lock the engine without even trying.
Flexable hose into your factory airbox will get it done
hello good job!
has the samurai big difference with the 1600?
Its a bit under double the power
This type of thing gives me major anxiety.I have a good 16b in the driveway for my Streetmobile and dread even pulling the harness. It will happen at some point just not sure when.
It's not that hard when you get your head around it.
Just watched this again and listened closer for the speed sensor.Thats a relief that it doesn't matter much at all.
You ever swap one from a Vitara with a distributor?
What about immobilizer? Did you remove it to or did you not have it?
They don't run one
@@redzook1 What about rev counter. How did you wire that? (i took the wire from ecu to tach but it does not work)

G13b as in twin cam EFI or g13ba as in single cam carb?
Neither of there looms work with the g16b either way
Efi single cam, cam and crank sensor no disi its for an 01 metro lsi
I'm not 100% as we didn't get them in Australia. But I'd say you will need the harness from the donur car.
g13bb=> g16b is that a direct swap or any alteration to the engine mounts?
In a jimny? You will need an adapter kit from zookparts.com
@@redzook1not for samurai am looking for my Esteem (cultus sedan in global market)

Hey man how many kms are to many for a baleno engine?
All depends how they have been treated. I have seen them fine at 300,000 but also trashed at 65,000
