I found out about John from watching Fabbin Adventures (thank you fabbin adventures)and ended up sending him my wiring harness to do. Great guy, super helpful, and very knowledgeable. If your looking at getting any work done John and Zukifreek garage is the place.

@@FabbinAdventures , As you you are samurai expert, Can you tell me, If I replace my Sj 410, Engine which is only 1000cc, with 1.3 or 1.6, my existing 4 speed(manual) transmission will be ok on Highway? Regards.
Thats a good question, i would think you might want to find a samurai 5 speed transmission.

Another awesome video. Awesome interview with John. I have talked with him about harnesses. I wish I knew of him back when I did my 16v swap. Doing the wiring harness my self was tough.

Would have loved to see what the thinned harness actually looked like. Can't see it for all the other stuff on the table.
Its thinned down considerably, just and engine managment harness now.
So what’s the weak link with an engine upgrade ?
I have a bad motor in a 2004 Suzuki Aerio SX 2.3L, can you tell me what other car motor can be used to swap this motor?
I did a Toyota carb swap on a 89 sidekick. To do it I had to convert to a 1.3 intake . The car runs grea. The auto trans won’t shift now . After the conversation all vacuumed and bs was deleted . Can someone help me out

same engine,exhaust,same truck convert obd1 to obd2, 3x and each time have not same sound, and mini back fire. obd2 get better ignition spark and fuel control, low torque. ecm work well obd2 by my experience. with 4/1 headhurst it a good upgrade. . for work and cost
Nice interview. I think the 16v single cam has every weaknesses in all the Suzuki. Too many moving parts on such a small engine. I like the tween cam 16 valve, I’ve owned several single cam with 16V all turned out bad compression, leaking and burning oil, could not pass smog and loss of power, cam shaft scratched. Now I stick with the 8V 1.6L engine and sidekick flywheel and 4x4 manuel transmission connected to Samurai T-case, cut off the sidekick T-case chain patched with aluminum plate add 4.24:1 T-case gear connect to Samurai 6.5:1 this setup is extremely low for the Samurai. See my setup Ron, just want to help bridge ideas for all Samurai owners out there. Great interview video.

I have not had any trouble with mine yet and a buddy of mine has run the 16v for years with no trouble, and he is hard on his stuff!
How was the 1.6 8v motor. Someone gave me one and by the sounds of it should I not waste my time and just do the 16v?

@Dan, I have 2 installed.... one is on propane and the other on 3k carb. No ECM. I'll take it if you don't want it... ;-)

Hello! Are there gona be any changes if i make the springs spoa?
You will need spring perches on top of your axle, probably need longer shocks depending on where your lower shock mounts are, and maybe a drive shaft spacer.

Hey Sven, im sure he would help you out in any way he can, send him an e-mail and tell him what hour thinking. I know he has a couple harnesses to modify from Texas, so i dont see why he wouldnt do one for you.
