Great video. Maybe the best video that I came across on UA-cam, troubleshooting refrigerator noises. But you missed one. At some point I accidentally hit a little handle in my freezer area that activates the icemaker. I don’t use my icemaker, I never hooked it up to a water line. But at some point I accidentally bumped that metal handle, which activated it, causing it to make clunking noises. I flipped the metal wire handle back up to the off position and voilà! The knocking and bumping noises have stopped! I am so glad it was something simple. Too bad you don’t have anybody monitoring this video comments. It would be nice to have somebody replying to their comments, helping people out while they are trying to troubleshoot their refrigerators.

I don't even look behind the fridge, once a year!! 🤭But, this helped with our problem. I've always just used that brush to go under, from the bottom front & side, & only behind the fridge without moving it. Now we know what we're looking at! Thank you!
Mystery noise: when it is in cooling mode it makes a tick tock sound like a clock. Consistently rhythmic but loud and clunky. In between cycles it is dead quiet . Any idea what to check for?
Great video. My GE is 6-months old and has made this noise from the beginning - it’s a very high-pitched “whining” sound like a humidifier makes. I absolutely HATE it! So much that I’m almost willing to buy something else, unfortunately I don’t have another $1800 to spend. Ice maker is not connected FYI. Can you help me?
The evaporator fan sounds like running at erratic RPM. No squeak or grind but sounds like struggling to run at full speed. Unit is still cooling just fine. Should fan sound like this?
I have a whirlpool refrigerator, bought last year. since last week there’s very loud knocking sound from its back, drive me nuts! will never buy again!
@@appliancepartspros It's the fridge DOOR making the humming noise. I moved things around, making sure nothing was around the edges. Seemed to help for now.
I have a Whirlpool French door refrigerator, yesterday the light went out and in the back I am hearing soft ticking sound . I don’t use the water /ice dispenser by the way. Appreciate your thoughts. Thank you
My Kenmore Elite 795.7105 makes 16 rapid knock-knock-knocks every 60 minutes near the freezer discharge vent. Sound is not coming from underneath where the compressor and water solenoid are. Ice maker is off. Any ideas?
I have a GE. It makes like a howling wind noise, keeps going on and off, also sounds like a blower starts and stops for a second or two, both fans work good. What could it be? Please help, any info is greatly appreciated
We have a kemore refigerator french doors and freezer on bottom 2015-2018?. We have replaced the evaporator fan and the control panel and the refrigerator still does not cool the refrigerator portion. The freezer is working perfectly. What is the problem?
I have a Kenmore double side door fridge with ice maker/water dispenser that constantly makes a sound identical to what a mouse digging a hole in the wall would sound like, clicking or tapping at wood . The waterlines have never been hooked up it cools/freezes fine the sound seems constant it's used got a little banged around on delivery 4 months ago but I just noticed the sound 2 weeks ago. Maybe it's always done this but I'm not so sure. Any advice on whats going on? Thank you.
Perhaps the ice maker has an on/off switch and it got accidentally turned on, The fridge will try to pull water but it won’t be able to because it’s not hooked up. I found out about this while troubleshooting mine for a different problem because I don’t have the ice maker hooked up either. If it is on, put it in the off position.
So I apparently just discovered yet another 'project' to add to my to-do list...clean the coils/around condenser of my fridge. He said clean once a year and my jaw dropped, as most probably would too. I'm 37 year-old guy, lived through a fixer-upper house experience, and other home improvement endevours over the years, and I NEVER heard that you should dust-off condenser area of your fridge, let alone once a year. In hindsight from this video...duh. PCs and laptops collect dust fast too. My fridge has been making weird groaning noises, internittent for about 5 minutes every few hours. No clue. Now I'm thinking I need to clean out the condenser area since I have 2 cats, hard floors, been renting the house 4 years now, bare-minimum style landlord. Sounds like I gotta get my hands dirty this weekend. And order a condenser cleaning brush for a fridge I don't own lol
I have a GE Profile about 10 years old has a knocking noise around the cooling fans and motor. It knocks about 10 times for 3 seconds every 5 minutes, very regularly. It sounds like a quiet jack hammer. I cleaned the cooling fans in bottom back (coated with this dust). Does anyone know what the problem is? I have recorded the sound and can send a picture of the area, lower back of refrigerator. Thanks.
What if it's making a rattling noise? It began doin that, my son noticed few min ago, there was a bag in the way, we removed it for about 5-10 mins it lasted idk but I do know that I have a double door side by side middle part of the fridge it freezes whatever is there, the top n bottom r fine.
Would you describe the sound as like a motorcycle revving up? That's what I'm trying to troubleshoot. I've had 2 techs out, and they can find no problems with my 10-yr-old Whirlpool .
Our new LG fridge seems to work fine, but at seemingly random intervals it will make what can best be described as the sound of a dial tone on an old analog phone. This sound is fairly faint, but definite, and will only last for a few seconds and stops. The sound itself is faint, and it's not a big issue in itself, but we'd like to know what it is.
My new Whirlpool French door model makes those same phone dial tones, especially after closing the doors. On Whirlpool forums it is said customers are being told by Whirlpool and their techs that this is a normal noise, and part of the operation of appliance. Until seeing your post, I had no idea other refrigerator brands did this 👍
I thought the sudden loud hum noise was the freezer fan. Nope. I aimed a strong small table fan at the bottom back of refrigerator (along where the compressor is) and the loud noise stopped. Mind you, the noise was coming from the freezer compartment. But by me cooling the outside back bottom of the refrigerator, I stopped the loud noise.
My Ge french door makes a very very loud whining noise intermittently. It is so loud that I can hear it upstairs. If I shut the fridge off for a minute and turn it on again the noise is gone until the next time. Is anyone experiencing this?
It could be a part that is going out, but you would need to find which part is making the sound. You can call us at 1-877-477-7278 if you have questions.
Is it the fan? No, what about the fan? No. Did you check the fan blades? Its not the fan. Is the fan making the noise, it could be the blades? The fans are fine. Ok then its your door hinges. No the fridge is popping. Ok then its your water valve. No its popping. Got it the compressor is bad. Lol.. 9/10 the problem is dirty coils which will in turn cause this stuff in the video to fail, but they wouldnt tell you that because preventative maintenance plays hell in the parts selling business..
My 10-yr-old Whirlpool occasionally sounds like a motorcycle revving up, and lasts from 20 mins. to an hour. Is that similar to your sound? A handyman and a refrigerator repairman have been out. Both say all parts are in working order. Of course the sound was not happening when they came.

This was informative. I wish, however, this also covered electronic beeps that is not related to the door alarm.
