I recently bought a 2015 Lexus and am planning to install this to it. I had an older Lexus into which I had installed a double din touch screen radio with similar features. One thing I noticed is that you do not necessarily have the GPS antenna sitting on the dashboard. GPS satellite travel through glass and plastic, so you can attach it somewhere under the dash. This is what I did with my older Lexus and it worked great. I didn't know about V-line until today so its going to be a lot easier for me than last time. The last time I had to figure out the audio and other connections on the back of the radio and solder wires one by one to work with the new touchscreen radio I installed which is generic to multiple car models. Thankyou for the video.
Yes you can install the GPS under the plastic and the glass, as long as there are no metal parts above it. Check here: ua-cam.com/video/LIxU9GSSp70/v-deo.html
Great job on the instruction installation video. I was able to install this in my '14 RX 350 with nav with no problem as I followed the steps exactly. The system works great and I now have wireless Apple CarPlay installed. I tried to update the Gapps but then the colors on my screen turned bright yellow with super low resolution. I did a complete reboot (disconnected everything as well) and now it is back to working great. I will leave it as is, not updating any software.
Tip for Android users with this system. You will need to connect to the original Lexus factory Bluetooth AND the Vline Bluetooth for phone call voice to come through speakers and car mic to work. If using the Iphone Car play only connecting Bluetooth to the Vline is needed. I just had the Vline installed on my wife's 2010 Rx350
I just bought a 2011 RX 350 lexus non navigation non cursor system. I live in the Cleveland Ohio area. Is this compatible? The current radio/bluetooth systems sucks bad. Looking for a major upgrade. Thanks
Two questions - which kit do i need for a 2011 RX350 (with navigation) AND is there an installer near Lawrenceville GA that can perform the installation?
Hello, for 2011 Lexus RX 350 with the factory navigation you will need LEX6RT model of the VLine VL2 system, which is available here: gromaudio.com/store/vline/grom-vl2-lex6rt.html In general any car stereo shop in your area should be able to perform the install. Couple questions before I pull the trigger, if you put the vline in the center console can you still close that little lid and retain use of the center console? Also do you still retain factory media controls on the steering wheel ?
If your vehicle is Lexus RX 2013-2015, as you can see in this video you can put the VLine in the center console. The lid will close, and you can still use the center console. Your factory media controls will keep working on the steering wheel.

We usually recommend placing inside the glove box, for easier unit accessibility. The Other option is to place it beneath the glove box, securing with velcro. Drilling the hole depends on the specific dashboard. You do need to route the cables to where the VLine is positioned.
The GPS antenna is needed if you are using the VLine on its own, and run Google or Waze maps directly from VLine (without the phone). It is also needed if you are using wireless CarPlay, as it helps to preserve the iPhone battery.

Hello, I am looking for Apple CarPlay upgrade kit for RX 450H 2013 and your products seems the best so far. I have a few of questions and seeing that you guys are active here, I hope you will help me out. 1. The illustrated installation in the arm rest bugs me a lot because of how the unit forces the false floor of the armrest compartment to be always open. Is there a way to make it fit there with the false floor closed? 2. Is it still possible to use all of the default audio modes? I saw radio, but what about factory BT audio, USB and AUX? 3. Are all of the factory audio controls (on the steering wheel and dashboard) working when playing audio via Apple Carplay? 4. What happens when you press the modes button on the steering wheel? Normally it cycles between the various audio modes, does it do exactly that or does it also trigger the VLine in any way?
Hello, thank you for your interest in VLine system! 1. In general you will not need to access VLine system if you are using wireless CarPlay or Android Auto, or the VLine itself. However you might want to make a small hole in this false door and get the USB cable through it. We always recommend to make the VLine accessible if you ever need to update the firmware via USB, or disconnect the VLine from the stereo for some reason. You can also consider other installation options such as glove box, or beneath the glove box. You can use velcro strips or wire ties to secure the unit in its position. Can you install for me? I have lexus 2010 RX 450 h?
Are you in Dallas, TX area? We can recommend the installer who can do the install.
Hello. I did get Vline for my 2010 LS 460L. Now I can't set the dashboard clock. I can't adjust it. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
The dashboard clock is usually controlled somewhere in the factory settings. Check this vid for example: ua-cam.com/video/v6m1NXfOOWA/v-deo.html
@@gromaudio yhank you verybmuch for a quick reply. Yes, correct. It is controlled using factory settings, but after I installed vline I can't set the time. I can access the settings tab for the clock but when I attempt to set the time it won't save. The setting will pause for a second and then exit to previous menue without saving the time. Very bizarre. Also, will there ever be an update so that the phone calls can go through the vline instead of the head unit? It is very frustrating when using GPS and getting a phone call. It kicks me out of GPS and into the head unit.
@@StandYourGrounds VLine does not affect the factory clock settings, and that is the first time we hear such issue. Can you please make sure you did not disconnect anything during the install?
The phone calls are currently supported for CarPlay only. We do not have the ETA yet for the phone calls support for AA, but we are working on the feature that will allow you to switch back to VLine screen, while using factory phone system.
Thank you for using GROM product!
@@gromaudio once again, thank you for your reply. Everything works as it should besides the clock. Once it gets warmer I'll double check the wiring. Good to hear that there will be an update for AA. Thank you once more! Wishing all the best.
Does it have 4G sim capability?
No, it does not have a SIM card slot. You can use a separate USB modem for the car with the SIM card and plan to provide internet connectivity for the system. Check here how to:
