It is a pleasure watching training videos that are well prepared and edited. You avoid long boring irrelevant sections, spastic head movements and clearly show the controls you are using. Excellent work...
storm of war is very serious concerning realistic mission, so i make the server for normandy what will be more forgiving for new players and having ai for when sides have low player count
@@chae_shoko After flying the storm server for six months. I very rarely fly the mustang as it's not really suited for GA and for AA it is more suited to the higher levels. So i now fly the p47
AI-controlled FW-190D is a tough enemy. When You try to get on his six, he starts vertical looping that You hardly can't follow. I shot him down after about 15 such loops.
so far the only issue i have in the p51-d is my opponent (ai) usually just starts building up altitude and I can no longer chase. this is even in lag pursuit where i am trying to keep my nose pointed downward. i actually wonder if the AI has more freedom in fights or something.
I only fly the Mustang. Eventually I will buy the FW-190 and BF-109 and I might goof with those. I also figured out how to install mods to DCS!!! (mods not modules). I got the "P-51D/TF-51D Audio Production 3.0", and a cockpit texture mod. It is actually a combination of the publishers mod and mudspikes colored gauges mod (he combined them just for me, and gave me a link over the forums!! ^_^). I now have BROWN leather, leather covered throttle, colored gauges, red highlights on some switches, and a WOOD FLOOR! ^_^ A wooden floor, with muddy bootprints on the bottom. Best tex mod ever!
+Luke Swann Google "DCS Skulls P-51 texture mod". Those are keywords. First link should be on EDFORUMS. Click on it. Then scroll all the way down and click the "5" on the page menu at the bottom. Scroll down once it loads, until you see someone named "mr.z_albin@yahoo.com". That's me. I asked skull some questions, and he, in return, gave me a link in his reply.
Click on the blue link and download. Then load it into JSGME and play with it! If you don't have JSGME, let me know. I can tell you how to do it, and also a link to the page I learned it from.
10:50 Something I find is that in a situation like that, the enemy (especially AI) will pull up, throwing me way out of whack. What to do when they do that?
If you are going against AI 109s or 190s I find that they have better climb performance. If you dont have the energy to follow then try staying at the altitude you are at and build up some speed while watching him. Turn toward the direction he goes so that he cant get on your tail. He usually keeps diving down and pulling up (boom and zoom tactics) and you can eventually follow him in one of his dives to gain the energy you need to follow him up. It is hard to get him while he is in a climb but if you have done the above you might have enough energy to follow him until he dives down (where you have better performance.) Trying to force my sights on him while he is climbing usually results in a stall. Getting good with the Gryo sight is also helpful (I'm far from good with it) because if you focus on building up speed in the pursuit you can sometimes keep your sight on him when he pulls up long enough to get some hits.
When shooting a bomber or cargo plane, is it possible to put rounds in the cockpit to kill the pilots? Sending the plane down no matter how functional the rest of it is? Or can you only shoot planes down by doing enough damage to structural parts? Thanks.
Luke Swan you're welcome! can you teach me what to do when Bf109's get on mustang's tail? I play IL2 qnd I've always flown 109s and I'm a veteran at it but in the P51 I suck big time...
AJ Othwal it's really best to prevent them getting on your tail at all. But if you can't, remember that the mustang dives very well so if you have some altitude use it to your advantage. You can also try a 'snap roll' to get him to over shoot but this should be a last ditch attempt as it can put you at dangerously low speeds. The mustang loves to be high and fast. At high altitude you should be able beat him, just be careful to maintain your altitude advantage as once down low the 109 will out climb you and basically fly circles around you. There are some tricks to using flaps to boost turn performance but at the cost of bleeding speed faster, and I haven't learned that yet. The problem is most multiplayer fights happen at low altitude....
Luke Swann thanks a lot man... I'm also at disadvantage because I don't have enough money to get myself Track IR so I use numpad keys to keep track of enemy..... hahaha lol.... anyways.... thanks for the tips. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Unless you are playing against another human, any tactics no matter how well they are taught and carried out are worthless against the always broken ai. Forget the ufo like handling and their ability to ignore gs, they are bullet sponges. Meanwhile, you are flying in a balsa plane coated in rice paper sprinkled with gunpowder. I hold the trigger till my hand is sore and they stagger off. However each of their "gold bbs" is a head shot or hits a critical system.
The AI has always been broken and ruins the experience. A typical engagement has me on say a 109 or 190s tail shooting marshmallows. Meanwhile, I am not flying a UFO that defies physics as they do and one quick "blip" and every bullet of theirs hits a critical system. I just set up 4 P-51s with 20% fuel at the highest level against ONE 109 at the easy level. That one plane DESTROYED every P-51 in a 1 vs 4.
Most DF videos are against drunken ai pilots, low altitude against a bright blue ocean. Take it above a rural area at altitude above a ground quilt of dozens of colors and its dam near impossible. Been flying since Microprose F-19 and even against "easy" who I lay a stream of lead on, they simply ignore it, hit me once and I am a fireball. Frustrating.

Rick Berry well thanks!
Hopefully I'll be doing some F-18 stuff soon™
my mans so under rated amazing editing skills
I just started flying on the Storm server about a month ago on the German side and I have been shot down so many times. it's doing my head in!

Showing flames on Exhaust ports at 4:52 I wish ED would bring them back again.
The video was helpful indeed! Thank you!
Great tutorials, thank you! And I love your intro :-)
+K.S. Flightsim Glad you enjoyed it!
Having the aircraft in trim helps too!
thank you for sharing your hard won knowledge!
In dcs which would be the better air 2 air fighter out of the p51 and p47 and why ?
Visually this game has changed so much.

The ai are on rails and exceed the airframe true preformance

Wow that's great! A custom texture mod eh? I'd love to see it sometime.

+Magic_Zach ok thanks! i haven't done modding dcs but now i know where to look for cockpit textures.
right now I'm an A10 jockey trying to learn to fly a P-51, It Ain't Easy
Rick Berry lol it doesn't hold your hand that's for sure.
Awesome Vid ! Thank You

s s I do not think the damage model for the AI is that detailed currently.
you have a very good voice and the video was made beautifully.
AJ Othwal thank you! Glad you liked it.

AJ Othwal you may want to look into some cheap alternatives. I use normal trackIR but I've read that some of the cheap stuff works just as well.

why i don't have gun or headup display ?
Pinokio mil you might be using the free version that comes with DCS
i actualy using it but the HUD disappeared there is no hud in my plane ! i use the free version !
Pinokio mil yes the free version has no HUD.
so i must buy one. Thanks brother for helping me
Buy the beautiful thing!
Intercepting bombers directly from behind is very bad idea, because you are very easy target for fighters and guns from the bomber.
Good video. I know that you must be reading out loud from the manual. That is OK as there is a lot to memorize.
on a head on, is more common to do scissors after the pass
