I wish I could do this but I need to fix the steering first to get the cluster out. It's completely stuck and I'm not smart enough to figure out the electricals. I also dont trust myself drilling into the cluster 😂 Awesome video though
I used what looks to be exactly the same display, except mine came from Aliexpress. Every pixel works but it's dimmer than the OE display, wich yours also appears to be, it looks like they put on a darker film on top of the display. Doesnt bother me much though, you can still see it.
Good job. I have 2001 E53 X5 3.0i with 230K miles. There are some missing dots in radio display panel. Unfortunately they are located in Clock display area. hopefully someone comes up low cost fix solution.
Hey i just bought a e39 M5 1999 and tried to code it with carly but i cant be coded because its not a facelift.. would someone know a way i could do some simple coding stuf with obd1? Thanks. I am in europe so i dont know if there are differences..
@@TheBimmerBarn Thanks! So i would be able to code from the inside with carly or only with the other tools? And if i have the adapter from obd to obd2 can i just Code it from the 20 pin with carly?
I tryed to do my factory radio. On my e39. Big fail. I think my eyes are just too crap to get the ribbon lined up. Gave me a excuse to get an xtrons so no big loss
Yeah! It's just a little harder to find that radio lcd replacement. Might end up replacing the radio altogether with an android head unit for more functionality. Thanks for watching!
@@TheBimmerBarn Didn't expect the reply but yeah i am having a hard to finding LCD replacement for my e90 too. I'm still deciding on Android unit or little bluetoorh dongle
Video quality is great like always! I've never liked the music in them but the content is why I keep coming back
Currently working on tearing this down - for anyone wondering: The screws that hold the box with the screen itself to the board are T8 (Torx)
Great job Chris! I love this model x5, as the only X model from BMW ever. Have e great weekend, Dutch regards, Nico.

@@savvasss2304 Any scanner or coding tool should work, or if you get the adapter that should work too. Good luck!

Video great but the music is very annoying and horrible
I agree nice fix but the music has to go
Far from simple I would say
Others wouldn't.
Get rid of the music and that girly thing on your wrist
