Good video, However it would have been useful if you showed how to remove the cluster needles,
What’s the yellow tape that is used
How do you remove the needles from the motors? I tried holding the shafts with pliers and twist/pull them out, but the needles are attached verry firm and the shaft started to slip and pull out of the ring with the leafspring.
You need to hold above just above the shaft spring with some fine nose pliers, put some tape on the front to stop scratching the fascia

Please DON'T remove the pointer needles, without our needle removal kit! www.akspeedo.com/
You really should’ve told us how to correctly remove the copper spiral spring that is attached to the needles and how to place them both back correctly so we dont severally mess them all up and need a new dash. I almost messed up my fuel gauge needle because of this. Im sure once you can get those off and know how to put them back on in the correct positions this is a fairly simple job. But the fact that these needles have a copper spiral spring attached to them it became 1000000x more difficult than shown in this video.
Serious flaw in the replacement steps for these videos and super misleading.
Anyone else who tries this i hope they see my comment first. @akspeedo
Ribbon kit is supplied with instructions, and a template to access the 4 clamp screws, we recommend this way, so customers don't need to remove the needles and reset them, needle removal kit available on our website www.akspeedo.com/ BMW page, if you wish to remove the needles without damaging the pointer motors, James
