I'm new to the whiskey world, and have found Woodford Reserve to be one of my favorites so far can't wait to try the Doubled Oak I love dark smokey Bourbons . Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
Brought me some Double Oaked to my favorite German restaurant and the owner came over and said he’d give me free Black Forest cake for desert if I’d pour him a glass. Very enjoyable smooth sipping bourbon :)
i have never been a big drinker but i remember when i was 7 years old my step dad let me try his Glenlivet 12 and i fell in love with the taste and how it made my mouth feel as it warmed my chest, out here in Pennsylvania its very expensive, so i have fallen to Clan MacGregor blended Scotch due to its price as well as it just being a damn fine scotch, i have recently tried bulleit rye and i love it. its also the cheapest whisky i could find that you have reviewed, i had never had rye before and i really do enjoy it and i thank you for making these videos as well as how welcoming you are as a channel! i'm so glad i found this channel so i can enjoy the art that is whisky. thank you once again you Magnificent Bastards!
I have a Woodford DO store pick and it quite lovely, breakfast foods, maple, and apple. Quite sad because I don't have much left, was quite generous with it. It is interesting comparing to Old Forester 1910.
I like the Double Oaked a lot. It's 43,2 % in Europe, which is plasphemie, but still its my favourite sub 90 proof along with Evan Williams Single Barrel. As you say, it smells and tastes way above its weight class. Cheers
I don't know about this iteration, but I did not like Woodford Reserve until I tried Double Oak. It sets such a different tone, much longer complexity and smoother sipper. If you're looking for a sipper that will impress without breaking your wallet, it's a decent buy. I disagree with them about which is superior on taste, but I also am not tasting the iteration they are evaluating.
Hi Guys, just saying hello from England, enjoying your channel,I love my Bourbon, but its the budget end for me,but im going to treat myself to something higher end soon hopefully.Great channel, great watch, great info, thanks guys.
I was thinking about Danielle's concern about doing lists and just being pigeonholed as a list Channel maybe you need a third channel that is just for lists
Also another FYI the bottle closer to Daniel is the OG double oak bottle and they don't make them anymore. The bottle in front of Rex is now the concurrent bottling.
Recently was gifted with this double oaked , but boy was is horrible ! I have so many almost all of the leading ones including few higher end ones Bookers, Whistlepig, Rare Breed, Russels, local store handpicks, many many single barrels of Bourbon and Rye. this one tastes straight like a turpentine oil or shellac . Not sure if my bottle / batch is bad. I have now let it sit 3/4 bottle for about a month hoping it would change somehow. Don’t think will buy it ever again.
It's funny you guys mentioned it's weird that someone just jumps into whiskey enjoying smoking Islay, but my buddies wife dislikes basically all whiskey, until I got her to try a sip of some port charlotte heavily peated, she loved it.
Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select is one of my favourites, so I had high hopes for the Double Oaked. I was quite disappointed. It just didn't deliver on anything I love the Distiller's Select for. I actually felt ripped off, considering it's around 20 dollars more than the DS.
So I just bought this as my first real whiskey to try out. I seem to get a lot of cinnamon and charred flavors from it. I did have to add water on my second glass to tone down the bite of the alcohol. It was pretty intense on the second and third sip. Diluting it one to one seems to be quite pleasing for me. Going to try mixing it with something sweet the next time I pour a small glass. I think it would pair well with Pepsi or Coca Cola.
So I brought a bottle of true blue cask strength when jesse from still it was there and we had that little get together March 18 2019 I don’t know if it got lost or what. I had my name on it. And we all drank some night of Emma said leave bottles to donate on the bar.(not to throw her under the bus).
“This is one of those where the nose has been prioritized over the palate” Couldn’t agree more. Incredible smelling bourbon but the taste doesn’t follow up with the nose.
Compass Box's Peat Monster is bottled at 46%. It's not an Ardbeg, but it's a damn fine dram. It's also not a high alcohol forward whiskey. You might not need to water it down.
I was literally texting my brother night before last for whom I bought a bottle of double oak for his birthday about how banana bread on the nose of this thing just jumped out to me like some sort of revelation so I feel vindicated seeing you guys have the exact same reaction here!
Daniel has apparently altered his "don't know the bar's selection" pick from Makers. That also sounds like a not insignificant change in standard "avg bar" availability in just the last few years.
So been watching for a few years and am interested in getting past the monkey shoulder walker glenfiddich stage any good place to source a bunch of small sample bottles
if you go to the woodford distillery, their mash smells strongly of banana. interesting that it's coming out more here in the selected barrel. i guess they blend it out a bit more (standard woodford has a hint of it but it's not in your face). either way, woodford is delicious, my go to for easy to find bourbon.
The regular Double Oaked is in my top 5 bourbons. It’s just consistently great.
Just bought my 1st bottle of it today 👍 going to try it tonight
Oh yes my favorite bourbon, the Double Oaked! It's rarely ever talked about.
As far as non store pick whiskey goes, it’s my current favorite as well.
I typically go with Knob Creek SB , but the Double Oak is hard to argue with.
definitely very underrated
One of my definitely favorites I drank it with my brother in law and I fell inlove with it
@@thepunk1019maybe you fell in love with him
I recently went back to Woodford double oaked after a period of years and it still holds up.
I've compared it to many bourbons and whiskys in general around this price point. It's hard to beat the D.O.
I opened my first bottle of Woodford Double Oaked a few days ago and I really like it.
It's currently my favorite. Very smooth and made me think of pancakes.
@@rorymcgregor625 boosy maple syrup for sure.
@@Spigsley I have a 1 liter barrel and I currently have Buliett rye with 1/4 maple syrup in there. I will test it in 2 weeks.
I'm new to the whiskey world, and have found Woodford Reserve to be one of my favorites so far can't wait to try the Doubled Oak I love dark smokey Bourbons . Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
I just had the regular woodford reserve this last weekend. And I enjoyed it! Smooth! Nice flavor! Good price! Cant go wrong!!
GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S... Double Oak is one of my favorites..
Brought me some Double Oaked to my favorite German restaurant and the owner came over and said he’d give me free Black Forest cake for desert if I’d pour him a glass. Very enjoyable smooth sipping bourbon :)
So I'll assume you had some black forest cake. Lol. I would have no problem sharing my bourbon with the owner
Double Oaked is not overly complex but it's a fantastic sipper that is super sweet. This and OF 1910 are two of my faves
FYI this pick was done via the Bourbon Society of Central FL with Pat's Liquor. We do a lot of awesome picks in this group.
Yeah not sure where you got the info but this is a pick we did last year...BSCFL. I am glad you like it... Cheers.....
i have never been a big drinker but i remember when i was 7 years old my step dad let me try his Glenlivet 12 and i fell in love with the taste and how it made my mouth feel as it warmed my chest, out here in Pennsylvania its very expensive, so i have fallen to Clan MacGregor blended Scotch due to its price as well as it just being a damn fine scotch, i have recently tried bulleit rye and i love it. its also the cheapest whisky i could find that you have reviewed, i had never had rye before and i really do enjoy it and i thank you for making these videos as well as how welcoming you are as a channel! i'm so glad i found this channel so i can enjoy the art that is whisky. thank you once again you Magnificent Bastards!
It was not a cask cartel release. It was picked by the Bourbon Society of Central Florida.
Woodford Reserve Double Oak is wonderful. It is my favorite Bourbon. It is also a great brand to introduce people to Bourbons.
This stuff is absolutely my favorite Bourbon so far
I love the banana bread note in Woodford Double Oaked. I get it on the nose and the palate and makes it one of my favorite available bourbons.
I like the Double Oaked, I was also surprised how much I like Knob Creek 9 y small batch for the money. Very oaky
My favourite bourbon at the mo'. That caramel taste melts into an exquisite char taste right at the end.
I just bought a Double Oaked that I can’t wait to crack open. I’m saving it for my BCBA exam next week!
I have a Woodford DO store pick and it quite lovely, breakfast foods, maple, and apple. Quite sad because I don't have much left, was quite generous with it. It is interesting comparing to Old Forester 1910.
5:47 "Hot toasty sugar, deep sweet tea-bag, swells up to dried berries, finishes with the cherry"
Huhuhuhuh Morning Wood and tea bag.
"The palate delivers about half way; It gets you half way." Daniel
So Morning Wood led to blue balls?
Especially for Johnnie Walker
I love how Rex and Daniel landed on the Juicy Fruit theme to reference “double” mint gum.
All that I can say about the double oak is WOW! I got rhe aroma of vanilla and caramel that was remarkable. Get it at every opportunity. Again, WOW!!
Longbranch and Woodford Double Oak are my two favorite Bourbons.
I like the Double Oaked a lot. It's 43,2 % in Europe, which is plasphemie,
but still its my favourite sub 90 proof along with Evan Williams Single Barrel.
As you say, it smells and tastes way above its weight class. Cheers
Hey, I respect a company with a sense of humour. "Morning wood", that's just excellent.
Picked up a bottle at Costco. It's fantastic.
I don't know about this iteration, but I did not like Woodford Reserve until I tried Double Oak. It sets such a different tone, much longer complexity and smoother sipper. Just picked this up today. Going to have a serving tonight. Thanks for the review
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked is my favorite flavor so far....i get chocolate and toasted marshmallow, its amazing!

Bowmore is also 40% and i tink Bowmore n°1 also. I had the bowmore no ° 1 for my birthday and is the reason I started loving smoky whisky.
“Morning wood”
“feels like you don’t get as much” 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
If I had a nickel...
@@aliciaanderson873 sweet Jesus Alicia, you made me spray whiskey out of my nose with that one. It burns so bad but I can't stop laughing.
@@aliciaanderson873 when they ask and you don't want to kill them so u reply "that's nice"
@Bryant Dean well shit ain't you special
Double Oaked still holds up to me
let that baby sit now that it's open and go back to it in a month. fantastic pour. and for the price and availability, dang hard to beat
Love me some Double Oaked. Always keep this & OF1910 on deck
Yall are awesome! You two really showed me how to enjoy whisk(e)y!
This sounds like a good idea for Whiskey tribe to do just saying. Let’s get some barrel picks
Also another FYI the bottle closer to Daniel is the OG double oak bottle and they don't make them anymore. The bottle in front of Rex is now the concurrent bottling.
Just found my new favorite UA-cam channel. 🥃
I have some Double Oak in the cabinet. Good stuff
"Morning wood, wood, wood. Morning wood, wood, wood. I'm a man who really loves his morning wood, wood, wood." - Rodney Carrington
My son and I both called this "dessert bourbon" when we tasted it. Very strong banana bread, as you said.
Recently was gifted with this double oaked , but boy was is horrible ! I always get tobacco and leather flavors in the double oak.
It's funny you guys mentioned it's weird that someone just jumps into whiskey enjoying smoking Islay, but my buddies wife dislikes basically all whiskey, until I got her to try a sip of some port charlotte heavily peated, she loved it.
Gotta love some morning wood. Letting you know you still got it...
Not yrying to be weird but just wanted to say you guys are awesome.
New to whisky and I loved the double oaked
Not a huge bourbon fan, but the double oak Is one of the bests. I really enjoy it over ice on a nice summer afternoon.
I love how we pretend to be sophisticated whiskey connoisseurs, and then when we vote on a name we call it "Morning Wood" lol XD
You guys haven't reviewed old Forester rye?! My favorite because of high malted barley.
Have been looking at this. Can't decide this or Jefferson Ocean.
It’s my favorite easy to find bourbon at the moment.
Definitely this over Jefferson ocean
I had Woodford last night. I had a few glasses of their bourbon.
That classic double oak must be older. I’ve only ever seen the newer style bottle since I’ve been paying attention
That skinny bottle is from some of the early batches. It hasn't looked like that in years.
Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select is one of my favourites, so I had high hopes for the Double Oaked. I was quite disappointed. It just didn't deliver on anything I love the Distiller's Select for. I actually felt ripped off, considering it's around 20 dollars more than the DS.
I just polished off my bottle of the Double Oaked. It's really a good.

While you offer a lot of insight one of the reasons I love this sight is you make me laugh and laughing is good!
There are some amazing store picks of double oak out there. Too bad they’re mostly around $70!
Good stuff. Had the Kentucky Dark Horse barrel select version of this
Waiting for Woodford Reserve Wet Dream next season.
"Wet Dram"? (copyright me 2021 lol)
Double oaked is definitely on my list to try
Don't worry, I have the same problem in the morning... I mean, bottle!
I love the regular Double-Oaked, so I'm guessing this will taste 'richer'. Cool.
So I brought a bottle of true blue cask strength when jesse from still it was there and we had that little get together March 18 2019 I don’t know if it got lost or what. I had my name on it. Woodford Double Oaked gets better after being opened a month or two.
If you haven't, try it! One of my favorites!
So what I'm hearing around 7:00 is that Daniel sometimes finds himself at bars asking for Knob or Wood. ;)
I think it's funny to watch you how you drink and let it catch you xD Nice vid!
This is the first ever bourbon I bought!
Brendan Kite! You Super Saiyan of Whisk(e)y!
Got Morning Wood?
Yep I'll just go get the bottle.
Confusion grows on people's faces.
Get a little morning wood in ya! 🤣🤣 Funky Dan! Love that funk bump
Compass Box's Peat Monster is bottled at 46%. It's not an Ardbeg, but it's a damn fine dram. It's also not a high alcohol forward whiskey. You might not need to water it down.
Woodford reserve is the finest bourbon in the world as far as I'm concerned.
They aren't using the flask shape anymore for double oaked.
I was wondering because I've never seen the flask. And this is my favorite drink!
Was this intentionally released today? Because woodford reserve just released their annual Double Double oaked bourbon this morning.
So, when are we going to see a new updated, bigger whisky vault? Surprised you guys still have any room left.
Double the pleasure, double the fun! Doublemint!
I work at a liquor store. I remember an episode when y'all went to a liquor store. I would like to see more shopping.
This is my absolute favorite bourbon!!
I was literally texting my brother night before last for whom I bought a bottle of double oak for his birthday about how banana bread on the nose of this thing just jumped out to me like some sort of revelation so I feel vindicated seeing you guys have the exact same reaction here!

I love Rex's hair
Party time. I'll bring the Morning wood. You bring the knob.
So been watching for a few years and am interested in getting past the monkey shoulder walker glenfiddich stage any good place to source a bunch of small sample bottles
One of my top 5.
This whisky made me sleepwalk. Wowza.
I think peat smoke does a lot to hide the burn of alcohol.
Great flavor. Pairs well with cigars.
Knob Woodford Daniels favourite
if you go to the woodford distillery, their mash smells strongly of banana. interesting that it's coming out more here in the selected barrel. i guess they blend it out a bit more (standard woodford has a hint of it but it's not in your face). either way, woodford is delicious, my go to for easy to find bourbon.
It's crazy how predominant it is!
Brendan is the ultimate mooch for getting free whiskey from that store.
Everything is going according to my design...
Didn't care for the regular double oak. OF 1910 on the other hand is my daily, when it's available.
Ah, yes. My all time favorite bourbon.
Would like you to do a blind taste Glenfiddich India pale ale casks
