Exactly how I'm going to get from the land in the deep wilderness to whatever small town to get supplies, just going to get a longer and enclosed trailer. May 30th I'm leaving for Alaska, it's almost here and I cannot wait 😊
@@idahoprepper I'm going to use summer this year to figure out which region I want to buy land in, and when winter hits I'm going to either save money and hunker down, supply up and wait the winter out. Or not save money and get a motel. Come next spring I should know which region, buy the land and start building my cabin. I may buy a GoPro and document some of this.
@@Alaska610ish I lived in the wilderness in the Yukon area 20 years ago and loved it. Only left because it was too hard on me traveling from the deep wilderness Monday to Friday because I needed to work. Now I'm retired and don't need to do that anymore.
You need to add a 200w foldable solar panel set. I built my own solar generator and with the panels I’m able to run my 12v fridge and not worry about lack of juice. They don’t take up any room. Another idea would be a good quality canvas tarp to lash over your gear in your trailer. You have a rain jacket for yourself but your gear would all be soaked.
I'm moving up north to Montana from N.M. later this year. This is a great idea, I had similar idea's to, but now I just want to camp with that stuff and just live a peaceful life. SHTF or not..
Such an awesome setup I love it! ATV's don't get enough love these days with everyone being on the sxs fad lately. Unfortunately we just don't have too many public trails in this state that allow the use of them. You're very fortunate to live in a free state yet!
Nice setup. Got the same trailer but with tandem axles, I also bolted down a piece of 3/4” plywood to the bottom for tossing firewood into it. Prevents it from getting dented up or a spot weld breaking.
I like everything you have here, in fact I’m jotting down a few of your items for my 4 wheeler big out load out. Idk why I didn’t think of the inverter for the charging port. Good content thanks for sharing!
Thanks man. Awesome video. I actually toyed with a VERY similar idea years ago, living on farmland. People thought I was crazy. I did think a roll over bar/ roof for the quad and an ebike on the quad would be the only differences.
Thanks for the video! I just got my ATV back from the shop. Mine is a 1998 Polaris Big Boss 500 6x6. This is giving me a lot of ideas on how to set mine up. Some things I would add: Tool kit Spare parts Off road recovery kit (snatch block, straps, chains, rope, etc to supplement the winch) Additional lights Additional food Larger med kit You definitely covered all major items though! Cargo net! Trailer! Etc!
Man I have the exact same setup other than my ride is a 700, I’ve been using it for a while and that trailer has a few flaws that’s not too hard to fix. First thing I did was I picked up several mudflaps in a truck stop parking lot and put ‘em upfront on the trailer to keep everything from getting covered in mud, awesome way to go anywhere
I have a quad similar displacement as yours and on a full tank with no trailer I can get 100 km depending on your bug out location you will need fuel. You may want to consider doing a suspension lift on the trailer and on the drawbar mount a steel plate big enough to hold two cans of fuel
iTS A Good base to start with. First, id take the side rails to a fab shop and have em extended by a foot. You can take a piece of 2 in pvc pipe heat it and squish it oblong except 1 end needs nearly closed. Zip tye this on a 45ish deg slant on the side rail and put your long ax in this. Then move the 10/22 upfront. Put a waterproof cover over your gear. Gas n oil for the machine, and since ya got so much room might add a 14in chainsaw with its stuff. Wont take alot of room , and a big time saver. You mentioned a winch already , but id also add a com-along and a shovel.
I think it will be better if you can incorporate a solar panel on the trailer to act as a canopy for the equipment and the added benefit of charging your equipment
Nice. Only thing I would do is figure out a way to raise the ground clearance on the trailer and find a way to make those wheels and tires fit tge vehicle in case of multi flat tires. You can then ditch the trailer and keep moving...and no spare gas??
This was also a thought in my head. Modify the trailers axle hubs to be able to fit the same wheels and tires as the atv. Also modify the hitch. More ground clearance the better. Other than that I think it’s a good setup. Oh, where is the 12 gauge going to mount?
I was up in Panhandle NF today hiking around. I try and get up there to hike every few days. That vehicle would be excellent to get down some of those closed logging roads or to stash on one of the innumerable small trails that come out of the forest. A chainsaw would be absolutely critical. There is a new deadfall every few days, it seems. And a shovel. You might have to do some basic road building.
well i use the trailer and truck to head to the bug-out retreat.. say i agree my mag has a few atvs i have an argo... we plan and train with these as patrol and gathering equipment. The argo with tracks allow us to work the swamps. creeks and rivers. While the ATV s allow use faster trails and none trail areas.. good ideas thanks
Well I am new to this but you could make a place for your kids (and wife) to sit in the back .. on top of the supplies? A piece of plywood or?? The plywood can be used for several things!
I enjoy bushcrafting, learning skills and hearing others share their experiences. I believe in having a three day survival/get home bag. It makes sense to prepare. But to be honest almost everyone knows that beneath all of this is the idea that we need to prepare for surviving the end of civilization. Yes we talk about that too but never or almost never talk about that unsolvable and Un survivable problem of what do you eat after your supplies are gone. You simply cannot get enough calories or protein from the plants and edibles you can gather in the wild. And hunting and fishing is so hit or miss that it cannot be depended on. So all of the youtubers chose to simply not deal with this issue. Did you know that the winner of Alone season 9 stuffed himself before the challenge gaining 60 lbs of fat just so he could survive the Un survivable longer than the others? This is the biggest problem that hangs over all preppers and survivalists and bushcrafters and no one will talk about it. Let's put this on the table and deal with it.
A good thing to do w/ that trailer is give it a plywood floor, the expanded metal on those is a bit thin and won't hold up well to concentrated weight like a full ammo can. Ask me how I know :)
I am also in Idaho. A little north of Boise. I’ve been eyeballing that trailer for a while. I see you made this video a while back. Just curious if you’re still digging that trailer or not.
Heio, new subscriber here. I like this setup and see what you are trying to do for us. BUT can you make a video of the car setup you have? I think most of us have a car or access to one, but not so many have atv or the need for one. I have personally a get home bag in my car at all times for my environment. I am curious about what you have based on your environment and what you bring for the family. I am pretty new in this prepper stuff and need some help/ inspiration to see what I should get for the family. Thanks for the videos and tips and experience you share with us.
Good thinking. A full sized deep cycle boat battery along with some solar panels . That plus an amazon power station for recharging any USB type devices. Whoops forgot about your Power station you already have. Maybe a come-along..

Get it to run on water then it would be ultimate or perhaps electric which is silent and could actually be charged with solar, hopefully you have tons of fuel up in them mountains cuz a tank or two won't last very long yanno.
