When I was 14 this album was my life. I fell asleep to it every night with my headphones on. I knew this album inside out. Content aside no one can argue with ems fire spitting ability and you can see that with your pa.
The best part about Kim is that it's the prequel to 97 Bonnie & Clyde off the Slim Shady LP. He told that dark ass story in reverse, explaining the aftermath on the 1st album, and what led up to it on the 2nd album. This man has displayed genius like intelligence with his pen for 20+ years.
Your dad is so chill and cool. You're lucky to have a dad like him. You guys have good taste in music. I wonder what your pops would think about a modern slow poetic rapper like Earl Sweatshirt.
What I like most about this video is dudes son looking at his dad like: this is dope right? He’s so excited to share it with his dad and it’s just extremely wholesome. Everyone that has shared a great find with their friends/family knows this feeling
He's not just " _ONE OF_ the highest selling rappers of all time", he literally is THE highest selling rapper of all time and best selling artist this entire century. SO yeah, his moms knew about him hating on her.
As a kid from Detroit I can still remember when Em & Shady records was running the rap game. It was dope to see someone from where I'm from. I was bugged out as a kid when I found my cousin D'Angelo was his bully knowing that is why I treat people the way I do now because you never know what life has in store for people.
Grew up listening to this album (and SSLP and The Eminem Show)... The beats, the flows, and most of all the lyrics. It truly is a masterpiece and a hip-hop classic. English isn't my first language and his music helped me learn it quicker.
So glad you did this one first before the Eminem show, you should do slim shady lp too.. what would really be dope is Big L debut album - lifestyles ov da poor n dangerous.. the lyrical content on that is crazy RIP Big L, sick video as always keep it up!!💙💙
I just tripped into this channel at 1 AM, should've been to sleep a long time ago but absolutely love the content! More people should have the same eye-opening experience to what hip-hop really is, and have been. Big up to you and your pops, much love from Sweden!
After "Kill me" when your dad said Eminem needs to be studied just reminded of a school teacher of mine who actually said the same thing. He wanted Eminem to be put into school and taught I'm schools. Loved that teacher lol
I just realized how well built this album is. Every song is placed in order for a reason, it takes you for a ride. Its like "This is Eminem". And btw I'm kinda thrown aback that you're presenting Eminem (sounds like you're a fan) and don't know D12? You gotta check into it, man. :)
This has genuinly made my morning. I listened to The Black Album & GRODT wth you both yesterday and I fu@$ing loved it. I haven't even started watching this yet but a thumbs up in anticipation. Subbed yesterday. You two are gonna blow up for sure. Hi from the UK 👍
Always impressed by how informative the son is of all the albums they do. Im sure its a mix of him listening to them and doing the research to have everything ready to explain during filming. This channel has rapidly become one of my favorites in terms of reacting to music. The son and pops both seem so chill
The word Stan isn’t just a popular term. it was actually added to the Oxford English Dictionary in April 2019 as both a noun and a verb. as a noun, “Stan” is defined as “an extremely or excessively enthusiastic and devoted fan” As a verb It’s defined as “to exhibit fandom to an extreme excessive degree”
@@Biden_Bluh The problem isn't that he failed to capitalize, the issue is that he shouldn't have been ending his sentences to begin with, the first period should have been a comma, and the second one should have been a colon.
Oh, it's not even CLOSE to corny. No hate, but anyone who says that needs to get a brain checkup. No hate my man, but the fact that it was more mature than it's predecessor, makes it less corny, if anything
The way you set everything up, from the timestamps to the format in which you listen to the album is so unique. Don't stop grinding, this is gonna be the next big reaction channel.
D-12 had 6 members with each of them having an alter ego. Like Eminem is also Slim Shady, for example Proof was also Dirty Harry,. With Proof gone, also the group died, but Eminem pretty much announced that information to the public and the group itself only in 2018 on his track called "Stepping Stone" where he talks about the fallout of the crew. - "'Cause the truth is, the moment that Proof died, so did the group" - "It's not goodbye to our friendship but D12 is over" The song also kind of strangely connects to the old D-12 track "How Come" where they rap about change of relationship. "How Come. we don't even talk no more And you don't even call no more We don't barely keep in touch at all And I don't even feel the same love when we hug no more And I heard it through the grapevine. we ain't even beefin now After all the years we've been down. ain't no way no how This bullshit cant be true We family. ain't a damn thing changed. unless its you!" There are so many incredible Eminem tracks still to show to your dad! "Go to sleep", "Stimulate", "Hailie's Song", "Till I Collapse", "We as Americans", "Love you more", from 8 Mile OST "Lose Yourself", "8 Mile Road" and "Run Rabbit Run" (although he said he watched the movie, the whole OST is pretty dope, for example Jay-Z's "8 Miles and running"), ... and so on. Also it would be pretty cool if you would show him some Beef histories. For example the Jay-Z and Nas beef. Although many people say that Jay came out on top, I fkn love "Ether".
31:52 I really love how pops listens and notices the subtle touches in the music, it's pretty amazing especially on first listen while reading the lyrics
Love your guys' concept! Keep doing this stuff man please! Would be sick for you to follow the journey of Em throughout the years, from starting as Slim Shady and weird tracks to more of the 'new style' he tends to bring out these days. Curious to see what other artists you'll be doing! Much love from The Netherlands💪👊
Forgot 'The Kids' wasn't on this version of the album, one of my favourite Em tracks!! Just found you blokes absolutely loving your old man's reactions =D Love from Aus
The Steve Berman skit is exactly what it sounds like. The story is that after submitting this album for approval, he was told it was good but didn't have anything to market as a #1 hit. In anger and frustration Eminem produced and recorded "the way I am" which was the 1st beat that he himself produced. That gives the line "let's face it, I'm not gonna be able to top what "my name it," so much more meaning. Immediately after, he's supposed to have recorded "the real slim shady," then handed the album back to execs and told them "there's your hit." That's why those 3 tracks are in that order.
I think that it's pretty amazing that your dad could pull out Eminem's crazy ability and how talented he is because most people cannot get past the outlandish lyrics of his first few albums. Much respect to Pops. New subscriber from this video, yeah man Kendrick and Cole will be two more goats for him to check out.🤘. But if he has not heard it already he has to hear some of the latest Eminem because he has worked on his skill to the point I don't think he can be beat at this point with the clever lines, wordplay, Speed and Cadence. It's a science to Eminem
i agree with what you said about The Eminem Show.. This album is a masterpiece my favourite album of all time. I was 10 when this came out and it was my 1st album I ever brought. It has a very special place in my heart. It has to be up there with one of the best Rap albums EVER.!

Y'all hit me right on the forehead with a reminder of just how GREAT a fucking album this was. I was always caught up between the slim shady LP and Eminem Show as favorites but this too was Prime time Eminem in every sense of the word. Completely mind blowing how every single record is a Hit on here it's like the GRODT of Eminem's catalog.

Eminem spoke out against censorship in this album and the eminem show. He went toe to toe with the government for EVERYONES 1st ammendment rights. Love him or hate him; he's an American hero.
@@Cujobob nah, kanye spoke out against bush during the donation call marathon thing for hurricane Katrina. “George bush doesn’t care about black people” on live television in front of millions for a charity fundraiser for victims of the hurricane. In my opinion why he spoke up for trump was purely because he felt a connection with trump as they were both ruthlessly criticized, unfairly, by the media. I’m sure he felt a bond due to that and an opportunity to make connections by getting close to a sitting a president. But Kanye has definitely had his share of political critiques. Kanye hasn’t spoke out as much through his music as em has but they both have used their voice to pursue personal political gains.

The Way I Am has that part with ' and they blame it on Marilyn ' , It's pretty much the same little message as at Never Knew, not just blaming rappers, but also blaming other musicians like Marilyn Manson, cuz Manson did some crazy stuff that he was blamed off in the early 2000's and the 90's. In the video when Em says that part he is at the camera and behind is Marilyn if I remember correctly, that video is also pretty cool to watch. Great reaction as always, great stuff guys keep it up! happy holidays!
I love your channel and your chemistry. Please do never change this concept, it‘s perfect! Ever thought about introducing your dad to a Quik album? Rhythm-al-ism? I‘m sure he would love the production side of it!
"The Eminem Show" is my personal favorite Eminem album. 0 misses from start to finish. Highly recommend Also "not many rappers also produce" ... I give you Russ... (+11 albums mixed, mastered, and written solely by himself)
Agreed, including Drips 😂 Obie’s verse is ridiculously disgusting and I love it. The whole album is paced so well with so many phenomenal beats. I remember copying it to my minidisc player so I could listen to it all the time.

You're dad listening with you and his openness and willingness to listen to em is great! I love his ability to hear the the skill involved and the hilarity behind the feelings of em and not just think he's crazy is awesome. Not a lot of people especially in your father's great age are able to seperate those things from their springs hearing the words em uses to explain his thoughts
Yo you guys are fire! Also just so you know the song “kill you” wasn’t a beef/dis track it was meant to insult the critics, the karens, that take his lyrics too seriously. So basically it’s all a troll song. Eminem just likes to do what everyone hates. So I think what when he was coming up along with the artist like Marilyn Manson, who he gives a lot of credit too, he liked that people were so upset about his graphic hardcore lyrics and wanted to push that narrative which is genius
Damn, I found myself watching the GRODT and the Black Album videos yesterday. I subscribed right away! Today, I’m spoiled with another video. All three have been brilliant. It’s heart warming to watch you and your Dad bond over music like this. It’s clear that your Dad is very proud of you. Looking forward to whatever comes next, have you guys got an Insta page too?
1:07:52 Haven't seen anybody commenting on this yet so here I go. D12 were actually 6 members not 12. Eminem, Proof (R.I.P., which also was Eminems mentor and backup MC in live shows and concerts) , Bizarre, Kon Artis (which is also a producer and became Eminems backup MC after Proofs death), Kuniva and Swift. But every member has an alter ego like eminem and slim shady. So every member counts for two so they called themselves D12 or the Dirty Dozen.
Both my parents listened to Eminem and I remember listening to his songs a lot as a kid. My dad especially loved and connected to Eminem’s songs and watching you two listening together brings back some great memories for me bonding with my dad over music 🥲 Subscribed ♥️

When I was 14 this album was my life. I fell asleep to it every night with my headphones on. I knew this album inside out. Content aside no one can argue with ems fire spitting ability and you can see that with your pa.
it would also be interesting for your father to show you some of his favourite albums. love the channel
Completely agree with this, bridges usually work in both ways and I'd love to see this happening!

I love how your dad really appreciate the music as in instruments. He hears everything from a violin to a fluid. He really listening. Gr from 🇳🇱
"Bitch Please" part. 1 was actually on Snoop's album "No Limit Top Dogg" that came out in 1999. Peace from France ! 🙌
As a kid from Detroit I can still remember when Em & Shady records was running the rap game. It was dope to see someone from where I'm from. I was bugged out as a kid when I found my cousin D'Angelo was his bully knowing that is why I treat people the way I do now because you never know what life has in store for people.
Damn bro, you should share that story, D'Angelo Bailey made history haha
Grew up listening to this album (and SSLP and The Eminem Show)... The beats, the flows, and most of all the lyrics. It truly is a masterpiece and a hip-hop classic. English isn't my first language and his music helped me learn it quicker.
So glad you did this one first before the Eminem show, you should do slim shady lp too.. what would really be dope is Big L debut album - lifestyles ov da poor n dangerous.. the lyrical content on that is crazy RIP Big L, sick video as always keep it up!!💙💙

After "Kill me" when your dad said Eminem needs to be studied just reminded of a school teacher of mine who actually said the same thing. He wanted Eminem to be put into school and taught I'm schools. Loved that teacher lol
this actually happened, I've read about eminem lyrics being studied in a university course. You can look it up online :)
Nice job guys, Super wholesome and been going through a lot so this was nice to watch. As an eminem fan, also you've got a very calming voice.
I just realized how well built this album is. Every song is placed in order for a reason, it takes you for a ride. Its like "This is Eminem". And btw I'm kinda thrown aback that you're presenting Eminem (sounds like you're a fan) and don't know D12? You gotta check into it, man. :)
I had the same realisation
They suck tho
D12 is great for sure. Love Purple Pills, My Band, How Come, shit on you, etc.

The word Stan isn’t just a popular term. it was actually added to the Oxford English Dictionary in April 2019 as both a noun and a verb.
as a noun, “Stan” is defined as “an extremely or excessively enthusiastic and devoted fan”
As a verb It’s defined as “to exhibit fandom to an extreme excessive degree”
Stalker + fan, if that hasn't been covered
@@MrSlyBadger lolz
When you are talking about dictionaries but don't capitalize the first word multiple times.
@@Biden_Bluh The problem isn't that he failed to capitalize, the issue is that he shouldn't have been ending his sentences to begin with, the first period should have been a comma, and the second one should have been a colon.
Ok Stan
Couldnt stop smiling watching this man. Bless you and your family.
Much luv 🙏🏾
Always cherish your father it’s beautiful how y’all come together like this. He’s such a gem truly.
Eminem Show was definitely not corny.
Oh, it's not even CLOSE to corny. No hate, but anyone who says that needs to get a brain checkup.
No hate my man, but the fact that it was more mature than it's predecessor, makes it less corny, if anything

- "'Cause the truth is, the moment that Proof died, so did the group"
- "It's not goodbye to our friendship but D12 is over"
The song also kind of strangely connects to the old D-12 track "How Come" where they rap about change of relationship.
"How Come. we don't even talk no more
And you don't even call no more
We don't barely keep in touch at all
And I don't even feel the same love when we hug no more
And I heard it through the grapevine. we ain't even beefin now
After all the years we've been down. ain't no way no how
This bullshit cant be true
We family. ain't a damn thing changed. unless its you!"
There are so many incredible Eminem tracks still to show to your dad!
The song how come is actually a diss track to Royce, not a lot of people know that. Royce was beefing with D12 at the time
@Positive Account I think maybe he's saying long term but at the time Nas 100% won & everyone knew it
31:52 I really love how pops listens and notices the subtle touches in the music, it's pretty amazing especially on first listen while reading the lyrics
Love your guys' concept!
Keep doing this stuff man please! Would be sick for you to follow the journey of Em throughout the years, from starting as Slim Shady and weird tracks to more of the 'new style' he tends to bring out these days.

@Jack The Kids is such a great track especially how he uses Cartman and Mr Mackey from South Park
Can't believe this was over 20 years ago one of my fav albums of all time.
Immediately after, he's supposed to have recorded "the real slim shady," then handed the album back to execs and told them "there's your hit."
That's why those 3 tracks are in that order.
Just finished watching the 50 cent one, Imma be here for awhile 😅 , glad I found your channel, you guys are gonna be huge

Eminem spoke out against censorship in this album and the eminem show. He went toe to toe with the government for EVERYONES 1st ammendment rights. Love him or hate him; he's an American hero.
2 Live Crew walked so he could run.
He used to be a first amendment advocate. Now he’s lost his ways and he’s a puppet for the democrats/censorship party. Sad to see
He also spoke out against C Delores Tucker, Cheney, Bush, and Trump. Probably others I’m forgetting. He’s like the anti-Kanye.
@@dylan351321 Kanye supported the most corrupt President in recent US history with a history of racism and that’s your defense of the man? Good lord, the whole insurrection against the United States should have been enough evidence that he was wrong 😑

Your Dad saying he'd be bumpin' this in the confines of his own home cracked me. This is amazing content guys, good shit.
The Eminem Show was straight FIRE🔥🔥🔥
