- How I fixed my transom that was too short and causing motor cavitation. Links below for materials

I've got a very similar boat {same boat perhaps?) - AlumaCraft 1232 jon boat - and just ordered a short shaft Suzuki DF6 outboard for it. It has a 15.5 inch transom, but from the research I've done, I'm still expecting the same issue, though not quite to the same extent. I'm weighing my options, but your video does provide a nice, affordable option. Thanks.
Nice, mine is a Tracker 1232 with 13.5” Transom. You’re going to be a lot closer at 15.5” Transom. I shimmed the motor up on transom with scrap pieces until I got good performance before I knew what I was going to build up with. I was looking for inexpensive solution. It works
subcoolboats75 - Yep. My buddy has a Tracker 1232, and it is a few inches closer to the water than mine, at the transom and everywhere else too, which makes it great to fish out of and a few less pounds to hand launch and wrestle in and out of trucks. It is a very solid boat too.
I’ve caught many fish on mine. Its a keeper👍
As I'm sure you already know, you have a long shaft motor on a short transom. AFAIK.... the only product available to solve that issue is the TH Marine Mini Jacker. You can only go so far up with spacers until you begin to lose stability. The Mini Jacker is designed to be 3" of vertical lift at the minimum and about 6 to 8" at it's max. Check them out...... You are still 3" too deep with the ventilation plate.
It’s a short shaft motor, Tracker 1232 boats only have 13” transom. Thanks for watching.
I had to do basically the same thing. My Merc 9.9 shaft measures 17 1/2. Wasn't to happy the first time I took it out
It worked out pretty good in this situation, Thanks for watching

My 1436 wouldn't plane. Moved it up 2", and she's doing good
Why would it cavitate if it was to long ? That doesn’t make and sense to me. If it’s deeper it shouldn’t do that .
It did, it acted like a spun prop at higher rpm.
@@subcoolboats75 wow! Never would have thought that. Because it’s lower in the water . 😳 learn something new everyday
@@quasarcom5041 I learned that day too, each motor and boat setup are different. Fortunately it was easily resolved. Thanks for Watching!
You'd think boat manufacturers would design their smaller boats to fit a short shaft motor. I mean how hard could that be? I'd never buy a boat that wasn't set up for the most common small boat motor. It's crazy that you should have to do this.
Thanks for watching! I bought it cheap from a neighbor during during 2020 is the only reason I got this boat. It gives me something to play around with during my off season from work 👍 I agree, now Tracker doesn’t even sell these small boats new
How much speed did you gain doing this?
I couldn’t get it to full speed before , the transom is only 13” , by adding the extension brought the motor up enough to get up on plane. Depending on conditions 16-17mph now
@subcoolboats75 nice I'm going to do that to my tracker 1032 Just as you did yours. Thanks for the vid! I can get it to plane but it only goes 13-14 Suzuki 6hp so I figured your method will unlock top speed
@@riv5438 I believe it will help your speed out. Let me know how it does . Thanks for question and watching 👍
Still too low
Thanks for watching!
Is that a long shaft?
Short shaft… the transom is only 13.5”
junk still to low in water.
Thanks for watching
