    Based on the test it looks like your engine height is good but you should avoid running your outboard in root beer.

    Looks great! Transom water pickup would absolutely perfect this setup. Height is dialed in!

    Insane how the prop works @ half in the water. What is that top speed?

    Any chance of a side shot further back to give a better perspective of outboard height next to boat

      The prop shaft was 2.5" above the bottom of the boat. It had a 10" jackplate/setback. I no longer have the boat

    Where is the water intake located??? Looks like it may be drawing in lots of air instead of water?? Alan in London

      It's on the bottom in the front by the point. Google mercury sportmaster lower or "low water pick up"

    What kind of boat and prop?

    at # 2 test; nose cone lower unit shake rattle and vibrate.
    THAT, is eventually gonna transfer up the d train.
    I never use my hydraulics (up/down) once I was swinging a Cleaver prop.
    Merc customized my 270 ModVP, water intake at the nosecone tip.
    A Free swinging prop, no matter how well balanced is in trouble without substantial preload. (certainly not one blade in the lake)?
    U can figure; that each time one of those blades hits resistance water the prop is gonna torque. (u saw that lower unit rattle!)
    if u need more speed, buy a faster boat.
    My 26 donzi @ 90mph+ airborn and doin' the walk

      Boat ran 107 mph. This is very common on tunnel boats to run the engine this high. The prop is a 15x32 pitch

      @@mikerakes3153 I Liked you reply, 107 is awesome.
      I simple noted the shimmy, was aware she was a tunnel.
      Mine baby will perform best in a 2 foot chop on a cool spring morning. Aviation fuel/Ams Oil.

      @@johnpike5836 after getting home I saw the motor shake in the video. I checked and the solid motor mount bolts had loosened up....I tightened everything up and it did not shake like that anymore

      @@mikerakes3153 well then yer welcome Mike.
      In my limited understanding, a shake or shimmy Like That can be Hard On the DT and transom fasteners.
      Im surprised the vibration didnt travel through the hull or steering.
      Do u have Mechanical or Dual Ride Guide? just asking?
      I found with; single RG my baby wobbled when trimmed out.
      swapped it for dual. big difference.
      A Cleaver will pick up the back end as it is designed for heavy inboards and sterns. a gas pedal kept my hands at the wheel. trim switch on the helm.
      Water pressure gauge front and center, tack then speedo

    I cringe every time I hear you change Forward to Reverse and back.,,,,, 32 pitch, ouch. I read a thread of a LU rebuilder and he said 90% of gear/dog failure is from changing gears. Bypass Neutral Safety.
    Great video, Great setup, 107 feels like 207 on the water, until you get use to it. I Love everything with too big of an engine.
    He's in R when he comes off the trailer and kills the engine to change gears about 3:44.

      Neutral safety is bypassed. This motor idles at 600 rpms. Less damage is done by shifting when running than cranking in gear.

    • @sdvten
      @sdvten 5 років тому +2

      @@mitseraffej5812 Yes it is. The splash from the cooling water stream can be seen when the boat is going at slower speeds throughout the video. It shoots out a long way behind the motor. Besides the motor would have overheated, alarmed and shut down with no water flow with how long it was ran.

    • @mitseraffej5812
      @mitseraffej5812 5 років тому +1

      sdvten. Half the gearbox is out of the water. I can’t see where the water intake is. Can you identify it for me?

    • @sdvten
      @sdvten 5 років тому +2

      @@mitseraffej5812 I can't see right if it has a low water pick up holes on the nose cone anywhere. I am not seeing the hose that usually accompanies the LW pickup. He probably has a water pickup mounted on the hull that feeds the outboard cooling water.
