- Final video in the 5 part series of the transformation from a country wide touring motorcycle into a mono shock straight piped cafe racer. Moderate budget build. 3 months of messing around in the garage with an average set of tools. Its not perfect but to be able to ride something you build is a great feeling.
Get out and build something. - Авто та транспорт
Real nice job. You have skills and courage!
Thanks. That was a fun build.
Very nice scooter
It was a pretty fun build and ride. Thanks.
Very nice build. Sounds great.
This is so cool bro wow! Thanks for sharing this with us. I cant build one like that just yet but I hope to revive the one I got the other day
Very nice custom cafe racer....preety Awesome dude
i love this bike. Amazing job
Thank you. I'm very proud of it. Especially for a 3 month of spare time and budget build.
Incredible work!
Thanks. I was pretty happy with the way it turned out.
very cool! i like the mono shock
Thanks, I think I'm going to move the license plate out of there because I feel like it's taking away focus from the mono shock
Hello from L.A. lower alabama, you sir are a great out of the box thinker, super job on a lot of the custom work. The GL-1200 looks great, would be proud to have in my shop, love the black engine.Only have one suggestion.please put some kind of chrome fender on the front, just enough shiney to set it off.Be safe on that bike, the power to weight ratio must be stupid light.Let the UA-cam community know when you get ready to sell her. Thanks for sharing your build.
Thanks man, I have a very small front fenders that I painted and have installed for about 10 minutes then took it off. It put a lot of weight on the visual down low.
Yeah it's kind of a wonky missile when you hammer on it. It definitely doesn't have enough brakes for the poneys. But that's what makes it fun!
Finished bike looks awesome. Brilliant job considering you only used hand tools and eyeballing.
Thats what i was hoping to get across is just get out there and try stuff. You dont need a 100K shop and 600k in tools to make cool stuff. Is it perfect? nope but it does turn about every head. (i have a 95 goldwing 1500 waiting in the wing) so stay tuned
I'd love to see a gl1200 naked, jacked up rear and front, 4 inch pullback risers with mid bend moto bars made to the dyna stunt scene look, like a step up seat etc, possibly a gl1500 front and rear end swap for broader tire sizing options etc, just a mean looking, but ergonomialy correct daily rider. Great job on that cafe tho!
Maybe not that radical but I do have a 1500 in the driveway for tear down this winter maybe. Leaning towards a bagger with drag bars.
Show us how it does on the track! Cafe bike!
4 issues with that. 1, i probably can't ride good enough to push the bike. 2, I don't know where a track is anywhere near me. 3,Its still a goldwing. 4, I sold the bike lol
That solid steel brake line running from the splitter fitting on the fork brace up near the triple tree is kinda floating is space. The flex line is way up near the MC. Any concern that that steel line might fatigue over time?
Yeah... It's not the best line for the job. I guess you could say it's Mr right now, not Mr right. I was getting ancy to ride so it got put on to test and hasn't been replaced.
Hey i building a cafe racer with an 84 goldwing also
I got question about what did you do exactly with the air box!
It seems like you kept the air box how did you do?
Thanks
I kept the lower portion that the carbs bolt to. I kind of went over it in one of the other videos, just found a filter that fit inside of the foot print of the lower section, made an aluminum flange that bolted to the lower section, cut a hole for that flat air filter then made a flange to sandwich the filter to the other aluminum plate.
about how much weight did You take off? Super job---love it!
I just weighed it last week, half tank of fuel and it was 510lb
Looks great, can you tell me the exact paint colour that is?
Krylon fusion red pepper. 0 stars would not recommend though. I will never be using krylon spray paint again. I had to re paint the fender 4 times and tank 5 times from the paint lifting or curling. Contacted krylon and short story, is they said do not re coat or top coat anything with their paint. Do not use their clear over other krylon paint. That sucks for you that you had problems. Bye.
So be prepared for issues if you use their products.
Nice project bro, do you know some place in Miami to fix Goldwings??
No clue. That's 1,441 miles away from me. But thanks
Maybe I missed it but how did you do the fuel system? If I’m not mistaken the bike has a fuel pump in the stock fuel tank. Did you remove all of that system? If so how did you do the new system?
Thanks in advance
That ended up being revamped after the video. I added 2 1/4" hose barbed fittings one for reservoir one main feed, both fed into a y fitting with small 1/4 turn ball valves, then into an Amazon special oe style fuel pump that was just wired back into ignition circuit.
If I was going to do it again, I wouldn't have sold the stock pump, and most importantly I would have just got a large normal petcock and welded that in, but the tank was done so made due with what I came up with
Did you move the foot pegs and pedals? If so how did you go about moving the shift linkage?
I did not. I did rear sets on another bike and it was a huge headache and didn't work perfect so just left them alone.
@@backwoodscustoms fair enough. I am getting ready to tackle a very similar project, and have been debating moving everything.
Hi. Can i ask about the size of the clip ons you got?
This year was 41mm forks. I found a website that had nearly every bike ever .ade and listed the sizes of fork tubes.

Top from Germany 1AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I was so looking forward to you taking this bike for a spin, and then you go and completely screw it up with that idiotic rap noise. Good God, man.....the ENGINE would be the perfect soundtrack, and you screwed it up. WHY?!??
Cuz it was straight wind noise I tried hiding the camera all sorts of spots, just straight wind. So I did what 98% of the other guys do and just add music over it. You can buy the bike and listen to it sing all you want .
Hey man thanks for the great video... could you share a link with the throttle assembly you used?
