That's a great explanation for how his career didn't explode after SNL the way it appeared it would. It was hard for him to reach the crowd out of character.

💯 not just because of what he says but also what he doesn’t say when Howard shows that he didn’t know Mike had been on their podcast and Spade tried to call him out on it.
I first saw Dana at the Other Cafe in San Francisco 10/18/78 when I first moved there. I had just turned 24 and he was 23 and looked 18 or so. He was the most polished of the regulars and did impressions of Jimmy Stewart as an irritable waiter and John Travolta as well. Went back every time he was there, which was frequently, even met up with him when he came into the record store where I was working to buy 4 cassettes in Jan of 1982, and was so pleased when he joined SNL in 1986. He has aged well both physically and mentally, more open and funnier than ever and for both reasons a better guest than even before.
I didn't know mike and dana had issues. I have enjoyed the podcast. I have enjoyed seeing more of Spade around doing his show on Comedy Central and Netflix this last few years.
"Mike stole his Dr Evil bit" Basically. But also Dana, the biggest star on SNL, had a big ego and was very frustrated that he wasn't the biggest star in Wayne's World.
Dana was acting weird before but it’s great that he can be friends with Mike Myers. It is pointless to be mad about specific bits and whatever. It’s LONG gone. Dana knows that.
Tia Carrere has said she wants to do Wayne's World 3. Let's make it happen! I think the whole thing should be Wayne narrating and going through various events that have happened in the past 30 years. Different flashbacks and fantasies with the other characters so we don't quite know what's real. Then at the end he wakes up from a coma that we find out he's been in for 20 years.
David Spade says Dana and Mike "already did" a podcast together burying the hatchet... Does anyone know where I can find it? Or has it not yet been released?
Howard still trying to start shit.... and Dana breaking it down w the psychology of the inner child. Good job Dana. Always rise to the height of your halo 💙🕊💙
OK DANA: Get Mike Myers to do another "Austin Power" movie or finish his project for "Sprockets." We all miss seeing him with you! Dana, you would be a perfect accessory for a joint project!
Why was I thinking that Dana was also David Spade? I got confused at first, especially when I was always confusing Dana Carey and David Spade over the years every single time I saw one or the other 😅🤣
The only person that ever stood in the way of Mike Myers......was Mike Myers 😳. His ego is always at the root of all his “conflicts” with other people.
Dana had an ego too and he knows it. Mike discussed his reputation for being "difficult" in his interview with Marc Maron. Wayne's World was created by him, Austin Powers was created by him: in those projects he reckons people are going to do things his way.
That is about as intelligent perspective I've heard in sometime... there is no and uh you know what I'm say'n? Or it's like you know?!? Uhh so it's like you know what I mean?!? And I like how Spade just let the mentor articulate...these guys were and still are a standard

Mike Myers stole the idea and turned it into Dr Evil, but didn’t ask Dana or include him in the Austin Powers movies. Dana was pretty pissed for a long time and felt betrayed. I think the 2022 Dana is the best Dana! He's more reserved and not over the top, it really brings out how smart and introspective he is.

Dana is a volcano of comedic talent.
It still surprises me given how long I’ve been familiar with Howard how he manages to get great stuff in his interviews over and over.
