What happened with the Husqavarna 401 platform???
why?🙄🤔
you forgot the klr650
I would buy a Duke 200 over a Grom. It’s a full size bike with 3 times the horsepower, 60 mph all day long
Uh oh, the thumbnail has a CFMOTO 400NK, not the 300. I fully agree that the 300NK is a fantastic beginner, feels real light and nimble, and still leaves everyone at the stoplights.
Personally me, I would replace number 1 with the Suzuki Hayabusa. It’s perfect, light weight, and very easy to control full throttle
😂😂
You forgot the turbo for the added traction control on pull away😂😂😂😂
How is Hayabusa a beginner bike?
@@TravellerNg Sarcasm is pretty hard to read I believe
Yeah seems reasonable
My man put a carbureted dual sport at #1. This channel really is a meme
Can u explain? I’m a literal newbie.
@@UltraPvnk carburetors suck real bad.
Can't wait to build my little carbed 125 pit sumo in February 😂
@@UltraPvnk Carburettors are .... old technology, less reliable (especially in the cold or when they're older), need more maintenance and just give lesser performance than fuel injected bikes.
@@fnglertthank you for your time.
When Yam said DRZ400, I thought he was joking.. lol
My first bike was a 1996 Suzuki DR650SE. Loved/hated it. Terrible suspension, small fuel tank, and marginal brakes… but it was a thumper and there’s just something about the feeling of being on one that hits the spot. It’s the bike that taught me how to ride, and I’ll always give props for being lightweight and forgiving of my early learning mistakes.
i started on the same bike , here in Australia, LOL def a love / hate relationship, little 8L fuel tank, i learnt so much on that thing, that i have always regrated selling it.
I think this list is missing Svartpilen 401. That's the bike I ride, so I'm not very objective but it's a great bike. It's not even my first bike, but I still went for it. It's appropriately powerful, nimble, agile, practical, extremely charismatic and affordable. If you're an urban rider like me, it is a much more reasonable option than many bikes on the list.
Agree
that's right
ahhh if you only could have waited for the 2024...much better step up. Have yuo seen all thie modicficatiosn and upgradses?
First of all, thank you for the informational (and satirical) content, amazing work as always! I recently finished my MSF course and have been riding for about a month now, picked up a rebel 500 and honestly can't be happier personally. Very approachable and very capable for my daily commute and typical riding environment. I don't take interstate for 99% of my commutes as I'm 6 minutes from my job, and all of my recreational endeavors are typically withing half an hour or so. As far as interstate riding goes, I've heard it's perfectly fine on this motorcycle for reasonable distances. So excited to be riding and I can't wait for the journey to come!
Satirical...lol...
I am 6 foot 5. An upright bike feels best to me. For whatever reason with my feet below me versus out in front like a cruiser seemed to work for me. I ended up with a Kawasaki 650 Versys for a first bike. Love it. Just feels right all around. No complaints.
At 6’2” I’m a bit taller than average and went with a Versys 1000… though it’s far from my first bike. I’m guessing the Versys 650 didn’t make the list because it’s a bit pricey starting at $9K and tall bikes that weight almost 500 pounds aren’t very beginner friendly. Take this list with a grain of salt though because ole yams put a carbureted bike at #1 🤦🏼♂️.
I've had the DRZ400S for 9 years as my first bike, converted to it to a supermoto and rode this bike all over san diego with it it was my daily ove never owned a car. Then went to my local go kart tracks and ripped it around I couldn't believe my first bike was still giving me smiles 8 years later and a useful tool for learning track riding. Just sold it on Sunday to Socal Supermoto and can ride it whenever I go there it'll be frolicking with all of the other DRZs on track. I've got too many bikes in the stable and starting physical therapy school. The DRZ will always be in my heart and if you're looking to get one, look for one used (can't believe they cost so much)!
I was expecting Duke 390/Svart 401 at number 1.
Agree 100%. Had a 2019 Duke 390 and even now having a GSX-S 750 sometimes I miss the Duke. Very very fun bike to ride and gets a lot of looks.
im guessing they fit in at number 3 with the RC
@@evenlandaas306 I thought that at first but then I wondered why he would bother splitting the z400/ninja 400 and the mt-03/r3 if he wasn't going to mention the Duke
@@aarontthompson good point, i have no idea then.
Exactly my thought. Much more beginer friendly option than the RC390 given seating position and ergonomics.
Also no excess that the RC390 was already no 3 so no need to include the Duke 390 or 401 because you included both the Ninja 400 and Z400 both the R3 and the MT-03
22' RC 390 owner.
Honestly shocked you ranked it that high after YOU SAID IT LOOKED LIKE A POWERADE BOTTLE.
Thing looks sick IMO 👀
Man I got great quotes lmao
@@yammienoob no mention of the Duke 390 though? I'm sure you loved that bike...
@@bevtij Bro, I saw them both back to back on the showroom. I'm 6'5" and I even had to give it to the RC390 because the looks blew me away. They should be using the exact same engine and tech so go with your gut.
I just got an RC 390. Small women here coming in at 5' tall and I LOVE this bike . It is SO zippy and it looks good! I LOVE IT
Thank you for sharing
How are you liking it now?
@@metaldreams3595 Mine got stolen recently and I am V sad. Personally I loved it. It looked cool, was super light, easy to maneuver in the city , plenty fast enough for me on the freeway - I only take it up to 80 or so .
As someone their mid 50s, I started out on the Honda CB500X, great bike for all the reasons you state , but now ready to move to a bigger bike . Got a Honda Monkey for my second bike & it’s a blast 🎉!
Your #1 suprized me. I own one as my first street bike and I love it.
God this has been the best outro. Been a fan since 2016 but i recently got back into motorcycles. This is the video I was looking for coincidentally so its definitely a good sign.
Oh I remember everything you said about the CB500X. It was all those "negatives" that sold me on getting that as my first bike. Glad to see you're giving it the love I think it deserves. Very flexible, fun, reliable...what's not to like?
Was my first bike as well. Loved it. Since it lacked a bit of Ooomph after a wile, I traded it in for the Africa Twin. In all aspects (weight, torque, power,...) it's big brother.
And it's nickname is : Halfrica Twin
@@DarkOperationman Perfect lol
the crazy vibrations due to the engine entering the harmonics zone of our anus. the fact that you cant push it over 110kmh 65mph without being tired after 20 minutes. its a fun light bike for 1 hour max, 100kmh max. the bigger 750 is optimized to have the engine resonation harmonics at rpms that the engine cant even produce. i also wanted to get a cb500x, i rode it i thanked god for not letting me buy one...
Can I lift the seat up several inches...like 5 or so?
Where is the 401
Yeah last video it was the num 1! So confused
Nothing makes the boys jealous more than a nice motorcycle or a fat wallet or a fine girl by your side or a powerful position or being a land owner somewhere
DRZ 400 supermoto is a brilliant place to start and honestly is one to keep no matter how experienced you are.
I started on a 1991 Kawasaki KLE 500
It taught me a lot of things both off and on road,
My first bike is the CRF300 Rally so I'm glad it made it high on the list. I love the bike, but about 10 more HP would be nice. The weight is the biggest plus for me. It's very nimble on and off road.
Hey Yammie Noob,
What happened to the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401? You used to say that it was the best beginner motorcycle. I love your videos, keep up the great work.
I've picked up a rebel 500 6 months ago and I think it's the perfect beginner bike. Easy to control. Has a nice kick when you throttle it. I'm 5'10 and can chill very easy when sitting at a red light. The bike doesn't shake too hard like a harley, after a tiny bit of tweeking to get yourself comfortable ( things like shocks) I have zero complaints. If you're looking for a first bike I highly recommend the Rebel 500.
Thanks! I was thinking about it as well.
I'm actually kind of surprised Monsieur Noob picked my beginner bike for #2. Nice!
I bought a desert sled as my beginner bike. Watching your video's made me actually. And I have to say it was an excellent choice. Not too fast although 73hp. By the way I am 41 and 1,98m tall. Great bike for taller riders..
Was thinking maybe going that route as well, desert sled just looks so good
But what about the Swartpilen/Vitpilen Yammie
No love for the Husq 401’s?? You spoke so highly of those bikes all year. Cmon my guy
I am CFMOTO 300NK owner. It is really good bike for a beginner for its price.
I just got my endorsement in August after doing msf course. I brought a indian scout rogue abs its just about how you drive and not show respect for the power. It's a 100hp bike 1100cc I show respect for it and I feel fine.
As a new RC 390 owner, this video makes me happy
Got my DRZ in August and absolutely LOVE it. I'd recommend buying it used though. Got mine and it was rebuilt by the previous owner.
I'm 38 and i'm bringing home a 2017 Honda CB 500 F as my first bike, will try to stick with it as long as i can 😅 Thanks for the great content
I started on a 2017 CB500F 3 years ago! :) I was 42. I havent sold it yet. U chose well and soon you'll know what I mean.
Glad to see my 300NK on a list! Please make a video review of one along with the 300SS version!
I started on a 94 Yamaha Virago 535 I got a few years ago. It had 6500 miles on, I got it for $1600, and I still love it. I think the best beginner bike is something used, that runs well, and is cheap.
Thank you, very helpful in selecting a new motorcycle for 2023.
I ended up getting a Vitpilen 401 sight unseen because of Yammies recommendation back in Covid, Svarts weren't available at the time, im still riding it, great recommendation, looks fantastic and gets heaps of looks, goes like a ripper and really affordable/great value.
I’m about to snag one. Was there a wait period?
The cb iv been recomended, sounds practical
Lol Svartpilen 401 didn't make this cut. Insanity. From #1 to unmentioned
As someone who is just getting into motorcycles, and found this channel a few days ago, I must say, you have good taste.
You like Yamaha, AND you have a HEALTH shirt? What more could you ask for, except maybe a little love for Kawasaki.
Just bought a Ninja 250 as my first bike for pretty cheap. Excited to learn and get comfortable! I've got my eyes on the CB500 series. I seem to swing from the X to F to R every other day. Glad one of them got #2.
How was the Ninja 250?
@@Msouljahh it’s nice! Stylish looks, it’s red, decent sound, the previous owner put on an MGP exhaust and dynojet carbs (so loud I bought a baffle, haven’t installed it yet). The gearing is is pretty short for me, I’m usually into second before I even cross an intersection, and I don’t live or ride in the city, too stressful for me. I’m in the suburbs and go out into the country. For that reason I’m looking to move on next season. Probably an SV650, love the vtwin sound and should have longer legs.
I love the 390!!! I have a duke so much fun
With the big problem of the mt03 being that it's too small, I think it sounds awesome for my 5'7" stature
Love my CMX/Rebel 500, best all rounder. It’s great for city riding and for short trips on the highway. It’s always getting compliments.
Vulcan S. Just over your 50hp limit here, and I know Yam has trashed on it before, but it's my first bike and I'm glad I chose it. I'll likely be moving on to an ADV-style bike in a year or 2, but the Vulcan S has been a great starter bike for me.
Everyone in my family has learned to ride on this bike. It is now my wife's go to bike when she is out riding. Love having it in the garage.
I think the cfmoto 450sr deserves to be on this list. Yes, the reliability is still there but that 270 crank is just.. anyway. The cb500x rank was very surprising.
I bought a 2022 mt 07 as my beginner and I love it!!
What about the svartpilen?
I wanted the R3 but it is discontinued in india, hence I got my first bike as the 2022 RC 390. Gotta say, the looks have grown on me.
Just added a tinted sticker to your windshield to make it darker and it ll look great!
No love for the Husky 401s?
this is my favorite type of video
Fantastic. Iv been riding for 45 years and yes I have a harley, but guess what ? I also have a 2004 drz400e in adv trim that I just can't bring myself to get rid of. I agree its a fantastic bike with loads of support groups and more bolt on add-ons than any other bike out there. Well maybe the sportster has it tied into first place with that. And as a starter bike the drz is not afraid of you dropping it once or twice.
Where’s the Svartpilen 401!?
Class is this wknd!!!! Wish me luck.
That CB 500 X Definitely a good pic for Second
Yammie,I was waiting for the Husqy 401
"This is my DRZ. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My DRZ is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my DRZ is useless."
Finally, some respect for my '22 CB500X.
Ooh just what I needed
Thanks bro you’re great
It's cool you mention the 300L as a beginner. A few years back I started on a 250L Rally and that bike got me ready for serious riding. I have 32 inch inseam and that bike was very vertically challenging to begin with. But a year or so on that thing, much of it in off road situations but a fair amount of street really helped me build confidence! After that time I found myself more and more on the street so traded up for more power and other things But I have NO REGRETS! If I was starting again I think the 300L or Rally version are an awesome way to start out! I think this is a really good call dude! Also in my case that bike held pretty good value so after about 18 months I was able to trade it in at a very minimal loss....
If you are not in the US perhaps the best bike you can get is a Fantic Caballero Rally. The Italian design, 48hp, arrow exhausts and the ability to go anywhere. It’s at home either at a cafe or at the mountain.
What happened to the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401?
I 100% agree with this list
As I really enjoy your channel and own a CB500X, I'm going to accept your rankings without criticism!
KLR 650 does one thing exceptionally- not dying :)
I got an MT-03 and love it!
Great list. Personally, as my first bike I'm going for the Honda CB500F, over the X, but I can see why you'd pick the X.
Eyyyyyyy you're a HEALTH fan! Very nice.
I had a moped through high school , people gave me allota sh!t about it but I used to love cruising around on back roads covering ground going anywhere almost for Pennies. Sold it , couple years later my dad bought a klx250 DualSport I got to ride a couple times on trails in the woods in northern Michigan and I thought it was awesome. About a year later he picked up a KLR 650 and I rode alongside him through some of the ouachita mountains in Arkansas. God damn I fell in love with it , so cool to ride through the trails and rocky hills on that bike. Since then I’ve became a fireman and have seen some bad accidents first hand. Now I’m almost gunshy feeling of motorcycles . I still want one so badly , I’m not sure what to do. Just when I think I’m positive I won’t get one Yammi pulls me back in lol
The DRZ @ 1 is definitely a brilliant troll move
We wanna see more POWWEEER! I learnt riding in a GSXS750. I’m looking something on that range.🔥
I mean if you’re looking for 4 cylinders in close to the same cc area, that’s really the only option in the US besides the Honda 650
I am legitimately surprised neither of the bikes I own made the list, as you’ve been effusive about them in the past. I started on a Duke 390 2 years ago and then added a CRF300L (non-rally) to the stable last year. I am curious why the KLX and the Rally beat out the CRF, and why the RC, Ninja 400, etc beat out the Duke. Sadly, my 30 inch inseam made it a bit difficult to approach the DRZ, but I’ll also keep my EFI. Great video!
Love my DRZ, i'll never get rid of it
Man i wish i never did 😭😭 finna buy another one next year after i get a gsxr 750
Where's the Svartpilen 401 Yammie?! WHERE IS IT?!! ... just bought one lol XD
Basically same as KTM 390RC, just missing the fairings and a bit different shape of fuel tank, but engine is same.
@@krisavi Very different from 390RC holy sht. Very different. Stop parrotting what you see others say
@@metaldreams3595 having riden with 390 Duke, 390RC, Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 would still say they are quite the same. Yeah RC has a bit different gearing compared to Duke. Makes a bit of difference in handling but not that much either. There isn't any more power coming from the same engine, just application of this power is a tad bit different. Both Husqvarnas are very similar to each other. Vitpilen has lower handlebars and due to it, also different riding positions.
Yam constantly says below 550cc is beginner and anything above is not then opens with a 883. This is why I have trust issues
That’s cuz everything over 550cc that’s not a Harley makes more hp than the 883. Lol
I’m going to get the best bike of all, the DR-Z400.
I'm still on my first bike which is an 08 GS500. It's done me proud and I learned a lot from it but now I'm looking for an upgrade and not sure what direction to go. I love the idea of the RS660 but man those things are pricey
Even as a newcomer, I feel everyone will get mad at this list.
That CF Moto is looking very appealing to me purely based on the price + coming with ABS
I’d like to see a ranked list for best beginner cruisers!
Agreed! We want cruisers!
I have a 2019 ninja400 and 2017 drz400sm learned everything from my main man yam if he started on a drz he might actually be able to pop dank nooners love you yam thanks for all the advice🤘
As a very experienced rider (40+ years on the street)..... Please don't under estimate the value of a "little" bit of boredom with your first bike. I love the list and agree with almost all.... but when the time comes that you begin to get bored, don't rush to get your next bike ! I truly believe that when you are completely comfortable, and the bike has no more surprises for you.... this is your best time to learn "Roadcraft"..... Because you don't anymore concerns with riding the bike, your able (almost forced due to boredom) to pay way more attention to your environment..... Identify actual road conditions ....ie... tar snakes potholes debris etc. and learn to identify what the four wheeled assassins are going to do sometimes before they even think of doing it.... but this is the time to let the force become strong...................PS: There is no "I had the right of way" when your broken or dead !!!!!!
Another PS : if anyone reads it.......First bike was a standard .... second was a litre bike (learn some tough lessons there) 13 bikes later (touring, cruisers, vintage, power cruisers, back to a litre bike) , currently 2022 H2 sx se (not one Harley, obviously I don't know what I'm missing ....... or maybe I do) Keep up the great work Yammie !!!!!!!
finally subbed for the HEALTH shirt
Aftermarket is the only reason to get the 883. The only reason I ever wish I went that route is because you can do anything you want to them with tons of options and support. But even used they come at a premium over basically all other bikes if you're talking the same year/class.
Yammie -- Would you give an honorable mention to the KTM Duke 390 in third place as well alongside the RC390?
Props for having the CB500X at number 2 but there are so many bikes you could have picked over the Iron 883, those are way too heavy for most people to start on.
Can u make an affordable “Surron” alternative. As in , maybe be able to buy parts like frame and tires separately/modular to anticipate updated batteries as it ages.
The DRZ 400 is a heck of a motorcycle to start your riding journey on. It's extremely versatile, you can drop it as much as you like and they've literally been making the same bike for 20 years so pick a year and go for it 🤣 The biggest downside is the carburetor, especially if you don't plan on riding often. That said, the bike is extremely easy to wrench on and it's a fun experience learning more about your motorcycle (especially as a new rider imo)...even if that means dealing with the darn carbs, which isn't too difficult to work on.
Had one stupid fun very easy to work on can pop wheelies for days on it very easy to get in trouble lol
My carb never gave me a problem. But I also never let it sit for more than a week. Just needs a choke on a cold morning
@@fortyinthestreets8526 Yupp exactly.. When riding often, don't really need to do much. Just let it rip and enjoy the ride 🤙 People sleep on these, but so does Suzuki I guess haha what year will they update the DRZ?? Fuel-Injection 2030? 👀🤣
Funny i just got a cb500x. Didnt do my research went full guns blazing swapped my ktm350 sxf for it. And honestly i have no regrets. Best bike ive honestly riden does everything ill need it to do and very reliable
My first bike was the DR650. Fantastic first bike only disadvantage was I'm only 170cm so I couldn't tippy toe it it letbalone flat foot it, it was one foot only for me. Also BTW had Zero carby issues, zero.
Also where is the KTM Duke 390 and Husquvana Spartpilian 401 on this, seriously?
I mean you included both the Z400 and the Ninja 400 both the R3 and the MT03 so there's no excuse to say you already had the RC390 on the list also let's be honest as a beginner bike both the Spartpilian and the 390 Duke make far sense the the RC390 with much more beginner friendly ergonomics/ridding position.
Mt07 should've definitely been on the list a bike you don't get bored on or outgrow so fast and still have options of things to do with it.
That’s what I’m looking at as my first bike
Mt07 has like 70 horsepower, everything on here is under 50
I LIKE THEM ALL ! ! ! ! ! ! ! THEY ARE AWESOME ! ! ! ! ! !
I’m 16 and live in the uk, first “bike” was a Lexmoto Diablo. Biggest mistake of my life…. Give it 6 months and I’ll be on a ktm exc or a husqvarna tc, can’t wait
Hey buddy !!! You added the interceptor but you forgot the continental gt 650 , I finalised this particular motorcycle to buy in 2023 around in the month of October .
i got my learners after 2 years of "yeah i will get there ", licenses test is mid January ! 390 adv on horizon
Awe man, I'm kinda bummed my Super Duke 1290r EVO didn't make the list. I'll settle for my 300NK being on the list!
Surprised Yam picked the RC390 over the Duke, and a 2023 list without the new RE Scram 410 seems like a miss.
you taking points for bikes being low kinda takes for granted that some people are short lol. I'm 5'2". I'm getting a grom because I'm a small person who doesn't want something that I wouldn't be able to pick up on my own if i drop it
I can’t unsee this outro
I thought for sure the #1 choice would be the Yamaha Zuma 50F. You let me down Yammie.
