From being an owner of A50 gen 1 BF-edition, A40 gen 2 and A50 gen 4 for a while now, i will definitely get a pair of these in the future. Looks like the HDMI and Ghub experience and even better soundquality makes the higher price worth it. But i still hope they sound like astro, and not anything else. Astro like before but better.
I'm right there with you and these are distinctly ASTRO the moment you put them on your head. - Fellow ASTRO fan that's been around since the MixAmp had RCA inputs.
Mine just showed up today and I am surprised it doesn't come with an HDMI cable and no you should not have to see if its included as it should be included. For over $400 adding an High Speed HDMI 2.1 cable at least 6 feet in length makes sense.
Seems simple but requires quite a lot of cables on consoles. Wonder why they didn’t go for something simpler? I mean the GPro X2 is a simple dongle as is the Audeze Maxwell. Really interested for reviews to compare the sound quality of these.
It's for being able to swap to 3 differnet devices directly from the headset. With the dongle you would have to swap the dongle to each device. It's just a simplicity thing. You don't have to use all the cables if you don't mind just switching each device.
Optimistic for this headset! As a gen 3 a50 owner, watching the software and headband fiasco of the gen 4's made me lose a little faith, but seeing is uses G Hub (which works, could be better but eh it works), and then seeing that dude put it on his head and the band stayed in place is confidence boosting. Another plus was watching the a50x charge immediately on the base station without finger kung-fu like I do everytime with my Gen-3. Love the HDMI extracted audio too, solves the great optical audio crisis of Xbox series X/S. And multi Bluetooth too? Nice. The price is high, but if it delivers on its promises I'm definitely getting it. 🎉

Dolby Atmos in PS5 is only Atmos for Home Theater, although it doesn’t say so. I actually tweeted the head sound engineer at Sony and he said 3D audio should be fine. You cannot get Dolby Atmos that is tuned for headphones on PS5 as PlayStation has not played Dolby the license to use that specific coding.
The reason for using Linear PCM instead of Dolby Atmos as the audio format priority for PS5 is because the PS5's Atmos function has not been designed to support HDMI headsets, and we do not claim support for Atmos on PS5.
Atmos on PS5 is only for home theatre systems only. As shown in this video on the Xbox & PC, Dolby Atmos for Home Theatre and Dolby Atmos for Headphones are two separate formats. Dolby Atmos on PS5 works a little bit different, as Sony uses its own proprietary Tempest format to render all Spatial Audio on the PS5. Tempest uses Ambisonics to render all the Spatial Audio information and Downmixes it to stereo headphones, however the headphones need to have support for Tempest in order to utilize this. The same goes with Home Theatre systems & AVR’s, and there isn’t a single AVR on the planet that supports Tempest audio decoding, so Atmos on the PS5 converts the Ambisonics information into Atmos metadata that your receiver can decode. Since Dolby Atmos support is only for Home Theatre systems on the PS5, it doesn’t replace the Tempest format for headphones, which you can find on Sony proprietary headsets. It’s unlikely that the Dolby Atmos for headphones format will ever come to PS5 for this reason, as it’s a conflict of interest against their own format, and Dolby Atmos integration was only meant as a stopgap to allow PS5 Spatial Audio to work over modern home theatre systems.

This appears to be happening on Xbox and Playstation. Also my TV is LG B9 OLED which does have HDMI 2.1 that I've been using with the xbox included cables and I've tried about 5 different HDMI 2.1 cables switching them around so I can say that it is not that.

Is it mandatory to let HDCP on ? For ps5 because i use live gamer ultra 2.1 capture card... Could you make a video for setup with a capture card like Avermedia Live gamer ultra 2.1?
I'm kinda in a situation as well. I bought a samsung Ark 55" curved monitor 2nd gen. It comes with a separate box that has all the ports on it. No matter how I try, I can't get sound on my a50x. Just the mic works, on Xbox x, no game sound at all. I don't know what else to try.
You can only hear the sound of the respective input. Theres a workaround where you connect the xbox usb c to your pc and then connect the hdmi from your xbox into the headset. Connect hdmi from the monitor into hdmi out on the base station. The headset will show up as "xbox controller" whether you use xbox or ps5. Set the headset to xbox input and youll be able to hear both the pc and xbox/ps5 at the same time. Youll also still be able to use your mic on pc. You wont be able to use Ghub to alter the headset settings though. The only issue I had was that I use line in on my pc so that I can hear my phone through the headset. Im not sure if i need to change another setting but I was unable to hear the audio through the headset when set the xbox mode but when set to pc I can hear it.
Can we just connect, let's say the XBOX HDMI port to a Nintendo Switch Dock and use it that way on the switch (without the microphone function, obviously)?
Yes, for this purpose, when the Nintendo Switch is docked, you can connect an HDMI cable from it to the XBOX or PS ports and take advantage of PLAYSYNC. It's important to note that there is currently no USB audio support for the Nintendo Switch.
Hi, I was wondering if you could answer a question about the headset for me. Currently I have the Astro A50 GEN4s. I stream on xbox and wanted to split my audio so I setup a J-tech audio extractor and optical cable and my base station is plugged into my PC. This way I can use the headset on my PC but still be able to hear my game sound from my xbox. What I'm trying to figure out is will I still be able to do the same with the Astro A50 X. Will I be able to be on the PC mode and still hear game sound from my xbox. Thank you and hope you can clarify this for me.
Do you know if they support TV audio from the HDMI out port? I'm currently using my A50 Gen 4 connected to my TV using an optical audio cable so I get sound from all my consoles (including retro consoles) through the headset but the new model doesn't have an optical port.
If your TV has an HDMI output then you should also be able to connect with one of the HDMI inputs on the Base Station for audio, however connection with retro or previous generations of consoles was not part of the A50 X's design considerations.
@@LogitechGI think he means will it work via the eArc port, so if everything is connected to the TV, and then you use the eArc hdmi output to the bay station, will that work? I have the same question as well, as I want to use my Series X with Freesync, which only works via source-display with no device in the middle. So I could get all my devices connected to the TV, eArc out to the bay station, then hdmi out the bay station to my soundbar,

You can connect your Nintendo Switch to the Xbox or PS ports using an HDMI cable while the Switch is docked. This will allow you to take advantage of PLAYSYNC. However, please note that there is currently no USB audio support for the Nintendo Switch.
I don’t get it, so with pc you only plug in the usb cord and that’s it like where does the hdmi go? If the hdmi is already plugged in the tv does the monitor have to have two hdmi inputs?
My recently bought astro a50x has white noise on reddit it said to update astro and base staion to latest firmware will this fix it. The white noise is nauseating i hope the headset is not faulty
Yeah the firmware update fixed my issue with the a50x. I could not stand the noise as my last a50s had the same issue but atleast there was a physical fix (volume rocker) unlike this.
Can u pls tell me the difference between the A50(Gen5) that was anounced today and this one(Astro A50x)? Why does the new one don't have the HDMI ports? Not needed anymore? Soundwise the same odr one of the other better? THX in advance!
How you can use this headphones for pc and console same time? In Gen 4 is easy USB to PC and Optical Cable to console and you can use it in 2 system at same time..
Just got mine and I cannot understand how to switch to the PC since there is not an HDMI input on the base. It seems like I have to run my HDMI out of my video card to a separate input on the back of the TV which means I have to use a remote to switch inputs. What am I missing?
On your headset there is a switch button. As long as you have the xbox and cables connected as well as PC cables. You just push the button and it switches to console. Push again to switch to pc.
Finally! I thought I was the only one in the world wondering this same thing. But as I'm typing this, I think it stays in the on poison if you keep your game console on. Like when you have to take a break or something. Your sound will come through the TV while you're headset in on the base. But when you pick up the headset off the base station, it automatically reroutes the sound to your headset. If the switch is in off position, that feature won't work. I hope I'm correct on that.
That was an excellent video. I should be getting my Astros today! Question: If I use a soundbar for my TV, does that mean that the main cable from the base station will go to the soundbar and then the cable from the soundbar to the TV?
Thank you for this azaming guide m8, i own a A50 since the release and i love it! Im thinking of buying the X version now. But i have a question, maybe you can help out. My whole system is connected to a audio receiver when im not using the headset. Can or do i connect the base from the new X to the receiver because the receiver is connected to the ARC hdmi on my LG tv giving me the audio and video output. So, when i want to use the headset that is connected to my PS5, i use the PS5 menu to change it. Not sure if i did explain it correct, im Dutch haha. Basicly, do i connect the base to my AV and does it work….Greetings from the Netherlands.
So why does this headset need the hdmi plugged but all other headsets don’t? Other headsets like the nova pro wireless have the same quality audio and don’t use hdmi a long with a lot of others.
You would still set up the same way. They were just emphasizing how the video passthrough can still do 4K 120hz. 1440p shouldn’t be an issue, but if it is I would say get another headset. My last monitor wouldn’t let me use the Astro audio extractor and get 1440p but I got a new TV and it works fine. All down to TV/monitor model
The A50 X is optimized for 4K Ultra HD televisions. There is limited support for monitors, and the support level may depend on your monitor’s specific features and capabilities. There is currently no support for Ultrawide resolutions. A50 X is designed to support pass-through of the HDMI 2.1 VRR feature, but has not been certified for Nvidia G-SYNC. Microsoft Xbox Series X/S pass-through of AMD FreeSync is supported for capable TVs, but support for monitors may vary
Can you remove the microphone? I'd assumed you could and it was a simple 3.5mm plug or something but I read somewhere on previous gens you couldn't. If you can't that seems like a massive oversight for users who have other mics and don't want to extra bulk/object there. Anyone with suggestions for other 2.4ghz headphones with wireless charging?
would love to know how this would work with a GoXLR to passthrough audio to the headset as atm im using the gen 4 base with an aux cable into the line in port of the base while the GoXLR handles all the volumes and audio routing. hopefully someone out there has the same set up and could possibly explain
unfortunately you will have to go to control panel and under the recording tab click line out and then click listen to this device and then select the Astro headset they made this headset worse in my opinion as if you want to use it with the xbox/ps5 you cant hear your pc audio like you can with the gen 4s kinda annoyed they removed the aux cable
Hey Logitech, Very cool and forward thinking product. I have one question though. Let's say I want to use a 4K bluray player connected to the Xbox HDMI input, would that work and would it support Dolby Atmos in that case? Also, are these possible to use in eArc mode? Many thanks!
So the biggest question i have for @logitech is how do i have this setup to work with my elgato HD60 X that is connected to my laptop so i can stream via OBS. This is my biggest concern
After all of this, audio isn’t going to my soundbar which I used when watching movies or shows…I had the hdmi going from soundbar to tv for passthrough

So I just got these when I go to Microphone Input Device it only shows Microphone on Controller A50X doesn’t even show up I already updated the software
my question is where does a capture card come in at would i need to plug the hdmi out from the capture card to the headset or the hdmi from the headset to the capture card

I have the designed for xbox version but it clearly states it supports playstation. I am not seeing astro a50x as a mic option only microphone on the controller. Please help!
I’m assuming you mean with PS. You see, PCM means the console is the device decoding the audio and telling the headset what to hear and from which direction. Dolby Audio/bitstream has the info sent to whatever device you’re using to have it decoded seperately. PCM is uncompressed and technically better, as PS doesn’t have Atmos for Headphones and the A50X doesn’t seem to have Dolby digital 5.1 that you’d normally have for PS5. It’s Atmos for Xbox and Tempest 3D for Playstation
The product's Dolby experience has been upgraded to Atmos and is designed to work closely with XBOX and Windows. Atmos is fundamentally distinct from older formats and is closely integrated with the content, as the metadata is embedded at the content level and is played back differently. The Dolby Headphones button functions differently now, as it has been replaced by Atmos, which provides an object-based spatial audio experience.

I got them set up but I can’t get the microphone to work…it doesn’t register on series x or ps5…help!
Did you ever figure this out?
I have just the opposite issue. Mic works fine, but no game sound at all.
Can you have simultaneous audio from 2 sources? I use my a40s to get pc audio and audio from my switch or ps5 at the same time
You can only hear the sound of the respective input.
There is no reason why not its just astro trying to fool kids something bad ass is happening it's just a pa's thru box
Yes
Yes, but it is going to be easier to just connect them by BT i guess
Yes, for this purpose, when the Nintendo Switch is docked, you can connect an HDMI cable from it to the XBOX or PS ports and take advantage of PLAYSYNC. It's important to note that there is currently no USB audio support for the Nintendo Switch.
@@logitechsupport thanks, that sounds good! Nobody needs a mic or USB audio support on the switch anyway 😜
Is it possible to switch between 2 PCs rather than pc/console?
Ideally with audio only
only 1 pc port maybe a spliter would work
When is going to be available in Central America?
So I could get all my devices connected to the TV, eArc out to the bay station, then hdmi out the bay station to my soundbar,
@@LogitechGAlmost no tvs have an HDMI out. All tvs have an optical out. Why astro...
Couldn't you have made your $400 headphones have decent functionality and connectivity? No aux port, no optical port, no Atmos for PS5, 6 cables, yet unconfirmed capture card supprt.
Could I plug a Nintendo Switch into the Xbox port? I have a PS5 and a Switch, but use my PC with the PC Game Pass. Thanks.
use the bluetooth on the switch to connect
You can connect your Nintendo Switch to the Xbox or PS ports using an HDMI cable while the Switch is docked. This will allow you to take advantage of PLAYSYNC. However, please note that there is currently no USB audio support for the Nintendo Switch.
I don’t get it, so with pc you only plug in the usb cord and that’s it like where does the hdmi go? If the hdmi is already plugged in the tv does the monitor have to have two hdmi inputs?
I would buy if there was a second hdmi out port allowing to switch between my monitor and TV.
Can’t seem to get any sound out of mine on Xbox followed this video and still nothing.
Bruh i bought this headset and i am getting no signal to my monitor
Just got mine and I cannot understand how to switch to the PC since there is not an HDMI input on the base. It seems like I have to run my HDMI out of my video card to a separate input on the back of the TV which means I have to use a remote to switch inputs. What am I missing?
On your headset there is a switch button. As long as you have the xbox and cables connected as well as PC cables. You just push the button and it switches to console. Push again to switch to pc.
What I want to know if these can finally charge on rest mode on ps5 and if they can connect to my TV so I can watch movies and listen via these
How can the pc getting it's image through USB?i don't get it. should be HDMI aswell?
Question, what if I have two monitors? I use my pc on both monitors but my ps5 is hooked up to only one of them.
Why don''t the A50 X control system volume on PC like every other gaming headset, especially the Logitech G Pro X Lightspeed?
Can i use Logitech HUB to customise profiles for Ps5 and Series X ? Or it's just for pc?
Thank for the reply
Curious that the headset power switch has to be on for charging.
Whenever I switch the headset to my PC it shuts off my xbox monitor. Any suggestions?
Check your hdmi-cec settings.
Can they work as tv out headphones and support surround also a one way thru box seems like a gloried waste
How do you get simultaneous audio with the xbox series x and pc at the same time without switching modes or using bluetooth
Can you use the PlaySync Feature with 2 or 3 PCs instead of consoles?
That was an excellent video. I should be getting my Astros today! Question: If I use a soundbar for my TV, does that mean that the main cable from the base station will go to the soundbar and then the cable from the soundbar to the TV?
feedback on the headset? i order mine from amazon today
I have a capture card and a GoXLR, would this new headset work with those?
Can you use a voice changer with these new astros?
What about PC Audio Mixers, like GOXLR or Fifine SC3?
These are very tempting but my gen 4 a50s are still going strong
does game/voice balance buttons work on ps5 with these settings it doesn't seem to for me
I have a 4k 144hrz monitor for my pc how would I connect this headset whilst still using the full 4k144 and not the 4k 12hrz
Will my leather ear pieces from my gen 4 a50’s work with these or are they polar opposites like the gen 3 to gen 4?
Yes
Do these come supplied with a uk plug when bought in the UK
Yes they do.
what if i run 1440p and dont use the 4k 120 hz audio, how would that affect if i were to use the full hdmi set up rather than not?
Microsoft Xbox Series X/S pass-through of AMD FreeSync is supported for capable TVs, but support for monitors may vary
how do you connect these to the elgato 4k60 pro on pc top stream ps5 gameplay?
So if you’re using for only one at a time you do not need an HDMI plugged in at all?
Can you remove the microphone? I'd assumed you could and it was a simple 3.5mm plug or something but I read somewhere on previous gens you couldn't. If you can't that seems like a massive oversight for users who have other mics and don't want to extra bulk/object there. Anyone with suggestions for other 2.4ghz headphones with wireless charging?
Question I have a Samsung oled g8 with Xbox series X how do I hook up with display port thanks
Did you find out? How to do it?
would love to know how this would work with a GoXLR to passthrough audio to the headset as atm im using the gen 4 base with an aux cable into the line in port of the base while the GoXLR handles all the volumes and audio routing. hopefully someone out there has the same set up and could possibly explain
unfortunately you will have to go to control panel and under the recording tab click line out and then click listen to this device and then select the Astro headset they made this headset worse in my opinion as if you want to use it with the xbox/ps5 you cant hear your pc audio like you can with the gen 4s kinda annoyed they removed the aux cable
Hey Logitech,
Very cool and forward thinking product.
I have one question though.
Let's say I want to use a 4K bluray player connected to the Xbox HDMI input, would that work and would it support Dolby Atmos in that case?
Also, are these possible to use in eArc mode?
Many thanks!
One might use their 4k bluray player on their current gen console…but hey, it’s your setup.
Do I also need another HDMI 2.1 cable to connect the base to the monitor?
yes, just got them yesterday and i had to buy an extra hdmi 2.1 cable
do these have the option to be wired?
I’m confused how would you get a picture on your tv or monitor
Without the hdmi
@@legionsmokey5762 Using the HDMI cable included with your console. The second HDMI 2.1 cable would need to be supplied separately for connecting with the HDMI Out port on the Base Station. Only the USB connection with your console is required for game audio and voice chat, even though the HDMI setup is our recommended setup to take advantage of the PLAYSYNC feature.
i dont get it either it does not make sense to me i understand with pc but not Playstation no HDMI plugged into the tv
i figured it out use the base station and plug into ps5 then a second cable plug in base Station then into tv!! there is an HDMI out port
@@SRUFFYDOG24i don’t understand how did you get picture on your tv?
So I just got these when I go to Microphone Input Device it only shows Microphone on Controller A50X doesn’t even show up I already updated the software
When I setup my PS5 this way I do not get game/chat mix to work. Any way to fix it?
party and gamesound mix is not working
Still using my A40s, love Astro!
my question is where does a capture card come in at would i need to plug the hdmi out from the capture card to the headset or the hdmi from the headset to the capture card
Headset to capture card
How to connect a50 to Bluetooth on mobile phone?
Enable bluetooth on base station. Then on phone both in pairing mode and it will connect to phone.
Quick question what if both of your consoles are on separate monitors will you still be able to switch it normally or would you have to plug in the hdmi from monitor to monitor
You would need to reconnect between monitors in that setup.
Cant get video to show for ps5 and maybe xbox next. Have a 4k 144hz monitor by eve( now named doug) spectrum.
How’s it going bro,i recently bought the a50 and ive run into the same issue you had, did you ever find a way to fix it?
Same, only plays cod at 1080p, tried everything and can't fix it
How would this work if youre a streamer?
I have the designed for xbox version but it clearly states it supports playstation. I am not seeing astro a50x as a mic option only microphone on the controller. Please help!
I’m having this same issue were you able to fix this?
Wait what happens with dolby digital sound?
@@logitechsupport thanks for the explanation!
@@VisForVindetta thanks for the explanation
My speakers connected to my monitor don’t work even when the headset is turned off, how can I fix this issue? Thank you!
Can you transfer those settings to ps5 mode
My monitor doesn’t support ALLM can I still use this headset?
