- In this drum lesson, I’ll teach you how to play the iconic Bluecoats 2014 DCI Snare Break. This legendary snare solo is packed with challenging sevenlet rhythms, stickings, and dynamic flow, and an awesome split singles section.
I’ll break it down step-by-step, bar-by-bar, so you can learn it with ease. Plus, you’ll be able to play along with me at slow, medium, and fast tempos to perfect your timing, control, and precision.

SCV 2017 snare break would be awesome!
how do you count 7's?
He usually uses the phrase "heard it on the radio," but if you want an alternate way (least this was how I usually went about it in the past) - if you like Tool and you're familiar with the song "46 and 2," you can use the bass pattern that's in 7 in that song, although you may have to get familiar with that song if you want that pattern (in terms of playing by feel) sort of "drummed" into your head; please excuse the pun there.
In the center of every odd tuplet there's a consistent division where the polyrhythm turns around. That keeps your feet in time and brain in check in an odd:even tuplet. In the old _'pass the god damn butter'_ mnemonic, the 'god damn but-' covers that even bit. In a 5:4 it's there as well starting on the third partial of the 5 and the 4.
I also would have notated that bar differently, just beamed 8ths with a 7:6 over the top. _(I find the ratio notation is extremely easy to understand for students when done right. If it's beamed as 8ths then your tuplet should be [number of notes played:how many actual 8ths it takes up]. An average quadruplet in 3/4 should be four quarters with a bracket, four eighths with a beam, four sixteenths with two beams, etc.)_
bluecoats 24 snare break?
Day 2 of asking for Bluecoats Pressure
24 BD snare break?
That’s what I’m saying
second this. one of my fav breaks of all time
Yes!!!
2015 cadets???? Pls????
hey um... can you explain how to do the upbeats of the splits? thank you!
Be able to play 8ths very consistently
Start a sixteenth late
Be extremely confident
That's the gist of it. Practice slow and work up faster; it's the same general idea as handtohands on bass. Just play 8s but attack confidently and stay consistent and they'll fall into place
And what if you're not on this level yet......
