It is possible to get gum recession around dental implants, as well as around natural teeth.
Gum recession around dental implants is often caused by the implant being too close to the front aspect of the bone, but it can also be caused by gum disease.
In order to fix this, the first thing that we need to do is understand if the surface of the implant is infected or not. This can then guide our treatment going forward.

I am a patient coming to terms with a removed leaky crown over a a broken root that fractured in a root canal procedure. Post abstraction of #37, the healing time is slowly improving. My UA-cam research of the best healthy choice ,after watching here, points me to make Strathmore ceramic zirconia preferable. Besides the low level perpetual aching in and around tooth 37, an old crown on #15 broke, and the core was subsequently rendered useless several months later. Now half a year on with BIDH attention, a full dental treatment plan monitored through medical certificates after each procedural visit with themselves,it is reassuring to know how to prevent any gum recession due to mental abutment. Over oral wear time, risk factors and common sense,it is prudent to extract #15, and expect nearly a hundred percent good- as -new, full set of natural teeth. Barring any further Discipline slip-ups,hopefully.
Thank you very much for providing public health updates.

Your an amazing Dr. and your patients are so blessed to have such a caring Dr. I’ve watched so many of your videos and I really appreciate the information you provide. I’m about 3 months out from my extractions and I only have the immediate denture. I was going to get implants, however my precious mother passed away and my husband and I have had to pay for her bills and now a lawyer. Everything we had saved is gone, we don’t know when her estate, which is nothing, will be finalized. How long can I go before getting implants? I realize this question is not as simple as it may sound since you don’t know my case or seen any
X-rays, etc. I can’t even drink a glass of water with my dentures in. The lab did a horrible job with my dentures. I’ve expressed my concerns and I’m just told it will take time. Time is something I don’t have. Any advice that you have a moment to share is greatly appreciated. I can’t eat I hate looking in the mirror and I don’t go anywhere because I can’t talk. The dentures have an overload amount of “gums” and I believe this is part of my problem. I’ve had them relined, I have tried several different adhesives to keep them in and I have found one that will work a little. The bottom ones start coming out on their own and I understand the reasoning with the bottom ones. I’m just in a bad situation right now 😢. I was looking forward to have my smile back after my accident. Anyway, I know your busy as I worked for a Dr. for many years. Again, thank you for any advice. ❤

Oh so sad to hear about your story. It's best to get implants ASAP because once your teeth are gone, the gums can shrink back and there can be further bone loss in those areas. Best to have implants in so they can halt any of that. And then do the crown later when you can afford. If the bottom teeth are coming out on their own, you may have gum disease? Better see a periodontist before you start to lose every tooth. I know it sounds scary but it is really scary to lose all the teeth.

Doctor, you are the best I’ve found. I had ten veneers placed and dentist did gum contouring on my front teeth…never the plan. Only limited contouring on side/rear. Now six months later I’m left with black triangles that are hard to hide and sensitivity around the exposed margins. Seeing a top periodontist next month for follow up to see if graft would correct it. Trying to avoid spending another 25k to have a more competent cosmetic dentist redo the veneers. Can a gum graft fill in/down the papilla spaces or does it have to have tooth to attach to? Anyway, thank you for your great videos!

I have full upper implants but I have a little irritation going on around my gum on one side but I think it’s because I brush to aggressively. I am going in this week to see my implant specialist. If caught early can this be taking care of?

Hi. What about removing the implant, get a good bone augmentation with bone grafting, and then put another implant in the correct angulation upon healing?

    • @Dandelion_flight

I would prefer that but cost of gum graft with current implant is around $1200 with a chance of working...to remove implant and do bone graft is around $1900 then additionally whatever the cost of the new implant would be...$$$.. and going through the whole months of healing again ....what to do...I don't know, I'm asking

    • @Dandelion_flight
      @Dandelion_flight Рік тому +1

@@rockobill7637 Yes besides the great cost of removing current implant, bone grafting, new implant, there is so much time involved, and in the end we won't be sure if it is going to work! It's very disheartening to just even think about this. I sympathize with you. But if that implant gone is going to compromise the integrity of other teeth (because they all support one another) or is in a position where it gives good aesthetic, then it might be worth getting it done. I know, it is so hard. :(

Can U do a tissue graft from the roof of the mouth & put it on an old implant in the back of the mouth to prevent infection???
I am concerned if it will last if it takes? or will the gums recede again because this is a very old implant & not getting any bone grafting.
I am doing the tissue graft on Dec. 2 ,2023...
I'm worried it may not last & will have spent $$$ & the gum recession will return. Is that true??

@@pavansasane595 mine implant has been in for nearly a year now. It’s so far so good. Just make sure you clean your implant properly - flossing is extremely important, interdental brushes too. I use 1% hydrogen peroxide sometimes to gurgle… I also soak my floss in hydrogen peroxide sometimes to floss. Keep my mouth clean as much as possible so bacteria won’t stay long. And see the hygienist for deep clean 4 times a year.
