Very informative video. One change though: 3:00 The MA1 can now be used with third party software by getting a calibration file from Neumann's website, so they realised that it would be a shame to produce such an excellent microphone and then only make it work with Neumann Hardware.
Once a room is well treated, I am a big proponent of corrective software/EQ/etc. Currently running a Trinnov ST-2 with my setup. Best sub integration I've ever heard.
My room is not corrected. I dint even have a panel anywhere. I bought the KH120ii and KH750 + MA-1 and I could not believe my ears after the calibration. Perfectly cristaline sound, accurate soundstsge and depth. Never would I have dreamed that my listening position could sound like this. And I have yet to hang a single panel! I think it will prove to be one of the best investments in my life.
Dude, all you gotta do is put old carpet on the walls, scratter some wrappers and crumbs on the ground, and spill a bottle of Jack on the floor and if you're feeling real brave piss in the corner. Done!
Great video, I just picked Neuman KH 310s 6 weeks ago. Have them connected to a Yamaha sub for now . Im getting the 750 sub , sometime this year. One thing at a time Thanks Baritone Cult
Hello, I use a pair of kh310 connected to 750 to calibrate. After calibration, I save the parameters and then close the software. After unplugging the network cable, is the calibration parameter written into the subwoofer dsp? I don’t need to connect the network cable every time I use it. Expect to you to answer me , thank you so much.
I currently have KH120 &am planning to add the KH750 with ma-1 to the setup to get a better sounding room . How has your experience been using the KH750 , would you recommend it ?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but isn't this mic and software basically a one use thing? You get the correct eq curve for your room and then what else do you do with it?
Yep. Basically once I know the corrective curve of my room, it is applied inside the speakers. So now I dont have to always turn on plugins inside my interface for example. That is an issue if I am livestreaming for example as if I am hearing everything accurately, everyone else wouldnt. Since the corrective EQ only makes sense in my room.
Id assume if like most high end reference mics you can just use it as a flat accurate mic if not measuring.. Earthworks pretty much crossed over that way..
I have the KH80-DSPs currently using Sonarworks 4 to correct the low/low-mid problem in my room. Mostly treated (just ordered some panels to make a cloud), curious to see where the room ends up after the cloud. Been keeping an eye out on the MA1 as an alternative because of what you said about same brand. Problem is I'll probably have to run SW4 either way for my NS-10s haha.
Hi there! Thanks for making this tutorial! I'm actually thinking about switching from Sonarworks to Neumann MA1 (having the KH80DSP aswell as the sub), for the reason that Sonarwork is actually causing a lot of problems with the overall computer sound (zoom, skype, etc.). Did you work with Sonarworks before and if so, was it worth changing?
The Neumann alignment won't mess with your computer sound because it runs on the speakers and not on the computer. Once the alignment is done you can hook up any audio source to the monitors and they'll be aligned.
@@leobrennauer I won't comment on the differences between the way both sound because I am biased. From a technical point of view there is an important difference concerning systems with subwoofers. If you use filters in the stereo output of your interface you can't separately time- and magnitude align subs and sats. The ability to align each device individually is an advantage of the Neumann System. In addition it helps to know the limits of the individual loudspeaker. The Neumann algorithm won't boost frequency ranges to levels that cause distortion because it knows the limits of the speakers.
Hi great video and very informative. I have one question can I use the software and mic to setup the sub only and just incorporate monitors with kh750 sub, which are Yamaha’s? I know software won’t work for non Neumann monitors, but I think it would be useful still to be able to set up the KH750 using the software and DSP features. Am I wrong in thinking this? Thanks in advance.
Yes you can. The KH310 ryan has are not DSP. The KH750 sub runs all the signal processing and sends the corrections to the speakers, you would use the kh750 as distro to the KH120
When will you play some award-winning high dynamic range and subtle classical or baroque music, to be finally able to totally leverage your massive quality hardware and unbelievable musicla talent?
I get confused when you say the EQ curve is in the "hardware" but your mains don't have the DSP. So in this case, you're only affecting the sub but the mains are just left unaffected?
It's tough for native speakers of English because there is even a vowel in there that does not exist in English. The 'eu' is phonetically actually /ɔø/ (the second one being a vowel that's often to find in northern Europe) and the 'a' is not the english /ɛ/. It's more a short version of an 'a' like you might hear in northern british dialects like scottish. So I don't blame anyone for not being able to pronounce it the German way^^

So good ! I love my 750

I have got two KH120As which are non dsp. So with this sub I can use the mic and store settings for my non dsp KH120As that's correct? 😮
Reminds me of the old JBL LSR series monitors which i loved.
Nice home studio though, clean, simple and neat! :)

Have you ever tried the Sonarworks Reference 4 system? Just curious
I was looking to get the KH 80’s with the MA1.. looks like a reasonable option

Real ones watched the editing livestream for this video 🤘🏼

For second I thought this was "Forgotten weapons"
Thanks for the vid, I'm wondering what comes in the box...been looking for the data everywhere and cant seem to find it
Do you know if this software is compatible with mac m1 chip and macos 12.6 monterey?Thank you.
NeumannDSP releasing a lot today hehe xD
Trying to install mine right now! I'm curious to know where your sub unit stays in the room! Can't find anything about it
Great vid! Is it possible use the DSP in the sub for the kh310 but "bypass" the sub when you dont want to wake up the neighbours?
was thinking the same......... but......... f*ck the neighbours!

I just looked at the specs. Yes the MA1 is a completely flat omni mic. It'll be great for capturing room
is the correction also working if I only own the sub from Neumann ?
Yes
Does this add any latency? Such as, the new HEDD MK2 speakers have a similar, built in phase alignment, but it does cause up to 20 ms
how does it compare to sonarworks ?? guess it blows it from the table with ease

Naw.. the NS-10s are supposed to sound not so hot.. haha
@@drdelewded hahaha while I agree the the room needs it at least now until I get the cloud and last corner traps and see where I'm at
is the MA1 mic also usable as a mesurment mic with other software? (smaart, systune ....) maybe even for live aplications?

after using the monitor alignment, is it necessary to do any room treatment, eg basstraps?
Yes, always.
What’s that blue guitar back there?
Are you saying that a 4x12 in the kitchen doesn't sound good when recording? 😳 Now i know why my videos suck. 😁
Did you have the kh805 before you got the 750?
I just wish the MA 1 wasn’t so expensive! its a lot of dough to shell out for basically a one time use piece of ‘proprietary’ hardware.
Is that a Kramer behind you?
Im wondering if I pair my non DSP Neumann KH120s with the 750 sub.. I can use the MA1. ?

The alignment for the KH 310s are applied in the output channels of the KH 750
High five man ✋
I’d like to EQ my tinnitus out of the room
Nice shirt
Love five watt world
Buy a Trinnov system? 😊
Old intro sounded better. Fight me.
Noumann have app only for apple stuf. Tey cant do simple thing and do app for android haha
Straight up, I thought Neumann was pronounced "Newmahhn" lol

Excact same way with pronoucing 'neutrik' (the pro connectors). Many also say "newtrik" or "newtrix"
