The MA 1 consists of the Measurement Microphone, Stand mount and Automatic monitor alignment software. It can also be purchased together with monitors as a bundle.
@@misifuz6468 it just won't work if you have wrong switch. I can't connect the sub+monitor to my huawei gpon switch. However I can connect sub directly to pc just fine.
Hello, there are no silly questions! You can also use the MA 1 for home theater or "just" for listening to music. In the end, you'll have to decide for yourself how much value you place on it.😊
Loved the video! Just a question: using this correction on my Newmann speakers will not affect my cpu usage ? I have to leave sonarworks because of that.
Hey there! Thank you :). MA 1 will not affect the CPU usage 😊 Once you go through the process with the MA 1 software/microphone, the DSP gets pushed onto the speakers directly via the ethernet connection. As this gets stored onto the speaker directly, there’s no CPU utilization at all. (It does utilize a tiny bit of Disc space though - the calibration data also gets stored locally in a hidden directory. But it’s not much and utilizes no memory.)
Hi there! You only need to align once and everything is set. For multichannel alignment, check out: www.neumann.com/en-gb/products/monitor-accessories/multichannel-extension-for-ma-1/.
Hi! I have a quick question, can I do this calibration while connecting my speakers to my interface via SPDIF cables? I can't really adjust my output level while using SPDIF so it can be very loud at unity with the acoustic controls disabled when in Network mode. Thanks!
Yes, measurement via SPFIF connection is generally possible with MA 1. The level of the incoming signal is checked before the measurement. The speakers are muted during this test. If this test is successful, the alignment process can also be carried out with this level. Of course, volume control on the audio interface or monitor controller is always useful.
Hi there! Check out all our mounting options for the KH 120 II here: www.neumann.com/en-gb/products/monitors/kh-120-ii. There are a few desktop stand options.
Hi there! We don’t have a dedicated network switch recommendation. Any should in theory work! For MA 1, you simply connect all DSP enabled monitors, plus the Macbook computer, to said network switch to create a Local Area Network. The DSP monitors must be in the Network mode position. This is how the monitors are seen in MA 1. So the switch needs to have at least that many ports to accommodate. If you are using AES67 monitors, you should refer to Merging’s recommended switch guide here: merging.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PUBLICDOC/pages/4817447/Network+Switches+for+RAVENNA+-+AES67 This is important, as AES67 and Ravenna have very specific requirements that need to be in place. Standard DSP monitors don’t apply.
MA-1 software can see my KH80 monitors via the network but cannot update the firmware v1.3.1 to v1.3.6 onto the speakers causing errors thus cannot proceed. Why is this?
The image is slightly left after calibrating a few times. I switched speakers and moved around the sub but haven’t had luck. If I go to local mode and increase the left monitor 1.5dB, the image is good. Is there a way to adjust speakers manually while still using the correction? Spent $4k on this setup so the lack of controls is disappointing.
We are working on incorporating this feature in the future! Normally, the stereo center should be centered after calibration. This is either due to an error during calibration (or slight hearing damage can cause such an impression). At the moment, you can only change the balance in the software mixer of your audio interface.
I got a second and third opinion, so I do not think it is due to hearing damage. I have calibrated multiple times now. Is it possible the room is causing this? Glad they are working on this feature!
@@tobiasjansen9117 How symmetrical is your room from your ears forward? Acoustic effects from asymmetry affect the stereo image. Adjusting the relative gain is fine, that's what most pan knobs do anyway. Just make sure your stereo image translates to other speakers as well.
Thanks for your input. I actually got my ears tested from an audiologist. My ears are not the problem. I will just wait for Neumann to incorporate the feature.
The MA 1 generally only works with Neumann monitors. You can also connect analog speakers to the KH 750, but you have to select that they are either KH120, 310 or 420. The newer KH 120 II, KH 150 and KH 80 DSP already have their DSP built in. They will also work without the KH 750 DSP with MA1.
@georgneumanngmbh thank you. I will be getting the 750 this week. Will i notice much of a difference between the kh120s and the kh150s if I have a KH750?
@@GeorgNeumannGmbH say I do the room correction and it’s all in the dsp of the speaker. If I later don’t want that can I undo it? Revert back to how it was before the room change? Make sense? Basically undo it.
You can easily switch between the DSP and manual settings either through a switch located on the back of the speakers or by using the MA-1 software. The process is quick and easy, but once you experience the benefits of the MA-1, you may not want to switch back. ;-) @@chrissssssss007
So drop hundreds of $$$ on a one time use proprietary N Mic and maybe some network switch gear, all to make these speakers sound good? They’re not cheap to begin with and I think the additional hefty cost of the M1 is unreasonable. Snake Oil!
I NEED this on the KH 310!
