虫姫さま ~ Mushihimesama - Ultra Mode TLB Aki (No-Miss)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- The TLB of Mushihimesama is a very infamous boss as it shoots an absurd amount of bullets, even for bullet hell standards.
The final pattern especially just looks like completely impossible bullet vomit and for a long time people thought the only way to beat it was by abusing an oversight with suicides to greatly reduce the bullets for a short time.
The boss also has an anti-bomb shield where the boss will flood the screen with fast bullets if you shoot him while the shield is up. I've often seen people call it one of the worst designed bullet hell patterns of all time.
However Bananamatic found out that the pattern is actually very dodgeable, and showed me how to do it as well. We were being silly for using the glitch strat that involves suiciding three times, when you can just as easily dodge it and use less resources.
One very important thing to keep in mind is that the final pattern is static. However the pattern is influenced by Aki's random movement. The way it rotates is also random, it can either rotate clockwise or counter-clockwise. In this run I got all counter-clockwise waves, which was somewhat unusual. There is a huge lane you can follow to the sides depending on the rotation, after which point you need to dodge a little until you need to bomb at a very specific timing.
The hard part here is when the current wave starts overlapping with the next wave, at which point it becomes basically impossible.
You want to time your bomb so that the bomb ends as soon as the new wave starts. This gives you the most time before the bullets reach you and also gives you just enough time for Aki's anti-bomb shield to go away. This way you're not forced to dodge unfocused as you can only focus while shooting in this game. The timing for this bomb is very strict and the timing is also different if you just died. For the former the timing for the bomb is when the cloud is about half-closed. For the latter you want to bomb as soon as the new wave start shooting.
For the first wave the pattern begins mid-phase and then loops from the beginning. This makes the opener the hardest part of the pattern because you have to dodge 1 and a half waves before you can bomb. If you bomb the opener, you have to use 3 bombs to advance the pattern to the point where you can start dodging.
Having figured out this strat, I have to say that I think this is a very well-designed pattern now. It's as balls-to-the-walls hard as it can be while still being completely fair. The bomb timings also add a unique challenge to the pattern as you need to look at the cloud while dodging in a dense bullet wave.
You can speedkill the 2nd phase of the boss by abusing the 'super shot'.
Super Shot is a technique used to increase your damage output by abusing certain autofire rates. For W-Shot you get this effect by holding down the full auto and rapid shot buttons. Rapid shot needs to be at trigger time 1 and interval 2. This only works close-up for W-Shot.
Make sure to check out Bananamatic's own No-Miss of the boss too: • Video

lol, after 13 years someone finally figures out how to finish the game without glitches.
Based Bananamatic at it again
Mushi couldn't be beaten without glitches? I thought that was Futari 1.0. or something (?). Idk; I suck at both games.
It’s actually first done in 2007
@@speedymatt1236 Ah yeah thought it had already been beaten without glitches (same with 1.0 iirc despite that version being bugged somehow)
@@SicketMog The game has been beaten without glitches but it's super hard and unreliable. The glitch is what makes this attack able to be (somewhat) consistently cleared.
@@krosisbh Yeah this is what I figured. The play I saw of 1.01. had the player stock up on bombs with a no death up until Larsa just to bomb through the "undodgable" (?) pattern.
I thought that was fixed in 1.5 though?

Calling things impossible is so primitive nowadays. This feat was pulled off in 2007 once.
That Grobda game sounds extreme for all of humanity. Thanks for pointing it out!
This is so satisfying to see, 13-14 years of not being able to no miss this boss, what a triumphant day for shmup players lol. Is this Original Mushi or 1.5 TLB?

Absolute bonkers. A pattern that was once thought to be just a lame resource dump is now shown as somewhat feasibly doable. Congrats to both you and Banana.
Doctors have discovered a rare disease that afflicts 1/6 people every year known as Danmak-flu. After the first initial 5 stages of the disease, victims may feel a slight loopiness at a higher intensity than when the virus is contracted. Doctors report the worst symptom in victims to be egregious cases of bullet vomit and may feel significant slowdown in movement as a result.

Imagine shooting all those bullets and still missing
Every time I see a video of someone breezing through Ultra Mode Mushi, I think "well that doesn't look so hard after all."
The game proves me wrong 100% of the time.
It's all about memorization. A lot of True Last Boss attacks in CAVE games can't be dodged through pure skill. You have to bash your head against a wall until you've figured out how to move through it. Annnd of course, with the main game, it's mostly about memorizing when to use your screen clears so you can avoid actually dodging stuff as much as possible.
How do you do the final attack? Since it's static, did you memorize the different rotations and directions or did you react as if it was RNG? Is there any specific strategy for the dodging part?
Watch it at .25 speed, you just have to lean into the screen and dodge.
@@ShotOfSelf Thanks, but I already no missed this a few months ago, so I'd say I know pretty well how to dodge it now.
Ythundyth I imagine you’re now prepared to dodge anything. Do Inbachi next. 🥳
@@ShotOfSelf I did Double Hibachi as well which was much harder than Aki to be honest. I can't even try to do Inbachi as I can't run the game on Linux, it only works on Windows currently, or an Xbox 360. I would however like to see if I could find some sort of strategy for that.
Ythundyth Very cool, those are some tough patterns. I personally stay away from second loops and TLBs but maybe I’d have more motivation if all this footage didn’t exist. Such determination is very impressive, will check out some your vids.

Searched for "hardest bullet heck game ever" after forgetting to searh it 6 hours ago. So, after 6 years and 6 hours, I find this video. Not disappointed. After 50 seconds it feels like Jesus is making them fly around Himself. You know when seeing a random concept and thinking of what could it potentially be used for, this game is that
It is a fair fight though, it is difficult but you can learn it easily if you try to.

the fact that this took 13 years to figure out is the exact reason mame needs TAS functions lmao. It wouldve made analyzing and trial and erroring his patterns far easier
True it would be cool if these cave games had super duper top secret endings for those who don’t bomb or die on the TLBs like. “ hey I thought this wasn’t possible but here’s a super super special ending that only a machine can obtain”
What "tool assisted speedrun functions" are you talking about? MAME has save states, pause, frame step, and a debug mode. What more do you need?
Actually, it happened sooner than that.

Now I'm curious who's worse; this TLB, the 3 final bosses from Futari 1.01, or Twin Hibachi?
Aki and Larsa didn’t take a year to be first beaten without continues, but Twin Hibachi second loop took players 7 years just for someone to beat it once legit.

@@speedymatt1236 hehe
The fucked up part about this is that the frame lag makes the bullets go 5x slower than they should, making them easier to dodge. If this game was rendered with today's technology, this boss would literally be impossible for 99.99% of players.
Actually there is no frame drops. The slowed speed is actually constant and intentional.
Like polynomial splines predetermininga kickoff2 style footy game's direction of a ball kicked, these bullet-hell genre games have long had (as per my desires to do so for years/decades) potential for usage of the mats library to call upon the instruction set of a CPU. So for example ChebyShec polynomials using the stunted FPU on the 68040 CPU in an Amiga or tantamount computer. Essentially I'm talking of edutainment gaming but slicker. The position of X can dictate Y (output) in gaussian kernelisation so the point moved in the bullet-hell is the spaceship _(or a probe/weapon/powerup satellite like you might find in xenon2)_ so as to return the parameters in the Gaussian processes, affecting pace. Then the path of the ship (or satellite powerup) can have a threshold of predictive tolerance (like a game of buzzwire) as predicted in a periodic convariance function compared to a Bayseian model. The framerate would be fast/smooth too. You're solving for a Gaussian process regression. In these sub-minigames, and example of laterial X input movements of the spaceship can be imagined like _"Arkanoid2 revenge of Doh,"_ or _"Mr Wobbly Legs versus the Invaders from space"_ (Commodore Amiga), moving left to right. Forming a series, see (quinonero-candela & rasmussen) forecasted time series aggregated by group. I made diagramatic outcomes like this in my dissertation linking it to game theory for currency transaction where outcomes (events) in time can be better predicted then compressed to events in time move faster. So it can be done.
My comment has no hate in it and I do no harm. I am not appalled or afraid, boasting or envying or complaining... Just saying. Psalms23: Giving thanks and praise to the Lord and peace and love. Also, I'd say Matthew6.

"However the pattern *changes* depending on Aki's *random* movement. The way it rotates is *random* and it's also *random* in which direction it goes."
Am I missing something here?
I think the idea is the pattern is the same, just flipped if it spins the other way. You don't have to improv dodge every new wave. If it spins right, you always dodge the same way, and if it spins left, you dodge the same but flipped.
@@DJ-Fakie That makes sense. "Static" is relative, I guess.
