Every time I see a video of someone breezing through Ultra Mode Mushi, I think "well that doesn't look so hard after all." The game proves me wrong 100% of the time.
It's all about memorization. A lot of True Last Boss attacks in CAVE games can't be dodged through pure skill. You have to bash your head against a wall until you've figured out how to move through it. Annnd of course, with the main game, it's mostly about memorizing when to use your screen clears so you can avoid actually dodging stuff as much as possible.

How do you do the final attack? Since it's static, did you memorize the different rotations and directions or did you react as if it was RNG? Is there any specific strategy for the dodging part?
@@ShotOfSelf I did Double Hibachi as well which was much harder than Aki to be honest. I can't even try to do Inbachi as I can't run the game on Linux, it only works on Windows currently, or an Xbox 360. I would however like to see if I could find some sort of strategy for that.

Aki and Larsa didn’t take a year to be first beaten without continues, but Twin Hibachi second loop took players 7 years just for someone to beat it once legit. Inbachi on the on the other hand is the definition of pushing humanity’s limits to the absolute maximum as this boss has yet to be beaten in a full arcade run in one credit, although we are getting close.
Every Psykio game tries to be like Cave Shmups... I'm a bit bitter just trying to play an easy shmup but Cave Shmups has a ton of bullets on screen compared to Psykio Shmups that has faster bullets and their ship hit detection are bigger
Oh yeah you need the supershot in order to speedkill the 2nd phase. You can get this effect by holding down full auto and rapid shot. Rapid shot needs to be at trigger time 1, interval 2.

I think the idea is the pattern is the same, just flipped if it spins the other way. You don't have to improv dodge every new wave. If it spins right, you always dodge the same way, and if it spins left, you dodge the same but flipped.
Does anyone else find Cave's games to be a little hard to play, in terms of, like, motion sickness? I dont know why they chose shifting background and flashing bullets but it makes it genuinely hard to watch or play with anything less than a totally clear and well rested mind if you ask me. The fucked up part about this is that the frame lag makes the bullets go 5x slower than they should, making them easier to dodge. If this game was rendered with today's technology, this boss would literally be impossible for 99.99% of players.
I've put hours and hours into this boss now and I can get to the last pattern without getting hit fairly consistently but can't quite crack it yet. I am playing on training mode with 3 lives (W Shot) and can get him to about 5% but love how I am slowly improving on this the more I play. I really could do with save states or something to practice that last pattern, it must be muscle memory, guess I better check out MAME. I notice in the training mode if you set yourself to play on the player 2 side (P2) some of the patterns are massively different, particularly the first few sweep attacks and you cannot play it the same as the 1P side (Same on PC and Switch). TBH I think playing the 2P side is even harder and some attacks do not seem possible to avoid, I got to the last pattern on 2P but to me that attack at least seems the same.
I don't get how this a no hit run, bullets are continually flying into your ship. The only part of it which was relatively unscathed is that little blue disc image in the middle.

Honestly, it is a fair fight. Difficult, but you can easily learn it if you try.
This looks even harder than Touhou.
CAVE shmups are some of the hardest in the world. Very rewarding though, just don't expect to get very far without hours and hours of practice.

What "tool assisted speedrun functions" are you talking about? MAME has save states, pause, frame step, and a debug mode. What more do you need?

Actually there is no frame drops. The slowed speed is actually constant and intentional.
Imagine having to sink in the hours just to memorize all the moves you need to do. Also DANG THATS ALOT OF PROJECTILES
