I am 28 years old living in SLC, Utah. I take pictures of cars and I am a dreamer. I don't work, I live.
the 4.0 engine is pretty solid... I havent seen hardly any with major issues... they handle tunes well... the turbo screen issues can be resolved....I changed my oil every 5k miles... and I have had s7,rs7,and now s8
...all were great....
They are great!!
I have 122K miles, no lights ...no leaks , no overheating
Dual clutch gearboxes like dsg or s-tronic are self adapting for clutch wear. Adaptation is needed only when you change clutchpacks or the mechatronic unit.
If it’s slipping try to change oil and filter first.
the sound is beautiful, it's a pleasure to listen to
Yes it is!
Had an Audi A6 (2013) for 2 years and I've put 30,000 miles on it. Never had a check engine light.
(Currently at 120,000 miles)
They are actually under rated cars for sure
Also had one in 2020 (around 100,000 KM), amazing car and had nearly no issues in 8 months apart from the fuel tank door mechanism needing some wd-40 as it wasn't opening (which fixed it but I would still change it). Had to sell it as we left the country.
Such a nice car. But I must tell you a few things. I have worked 8 years engineer in Germany for Audi, I left in 2018 (for personnal reasons).
The dual clutch is not optimal for the V8. That is why here in Europe we switched to a big AT (zf 8 speed) for the RS6 (the more powerful model) : it can take up to 1000 nm and is just as fast.
This particular dual clutch is mounted on RS3s, which get less torque from the 5 cylinder. We’ve had many problems on the S6 gearbox past 100k km (150k+ in miles) in western Europe.
When you say it is slow, can you describe it ? Does it hesitate to upshift? Does it hold on a gear in particular for too long ?
No just a little slow to upshift for a dual clutch. I got a new tune in it recently that has solved a lot of problems! I don't think I will be keeping it till 150k miles
Hi Va I have a '13 S6, stage 1ECU with APR TCU tune that just rolled 100k. So what you're saying is that it might be nearing the end of it's life? I've been spared the turbo issue as they haven't failed. Another thing I've noticed is the car does not like the heat. I can tell a big difference in power between winter and summer. Any Idea what a DSG replacement costs?
No idea. I love my car so idk 🤷did you remove the turbo oil screen??
@@DallinSellers Still have the screens as far as I know. They replaced the PCV a few years back and MIGHT have implimented the TSB oil line work at the time.
datsuntoyy hi. This dct is built to take between 500nm and 600nm of torque max. So stock engine is alright, because you always want your engine and everything around it not working 100% all the time, that is where you get reliability. The troubles we had were ALL tuned engines (we could tell by the wear marks) and I bet they just had a reset when they sent it for service.
Keep in mind a tune has to be reliable and requires bigger, stronger parts to take all the extra power. You can not just remap and go, it’s criminal. I drive a 2018 RS6 (yaaaa😇) and it makes 800hp (when it’s around 18-20°Celsius, more like 750hp in july) but with major upgrades : all fuel, oil, water pumps, spark plugs, injectors, new camshafts, bigger turbos, manifolds, downpipes, air intake, extra front radiator, new brakes and pads, and of course I did myself the remap. You can drive a simple ecu tuned S6, it won’t break overnight, but stage 1 is the last thing I recommend. You have to go with something serious, it is not cheap but it will be reliable.
Concerning your car I would say don’t do anything and just go with it. This transmission requires oil service every 35,000 miles if you had it tuned, just wait 30-45 minutes before driving more aggressively because it has two « half gearboxes » to get up to temperature.
Really liked this video and hearing your perspective on the issues or things you think are wrong with your car. I like the supercar content but getting an inside look on your car is so much better
Yes, go back to old exhaust. Straight pipe is good for driving 30 minutes and then gets old really fast.
Editing is on point as usual
Thanks man! I appreciate it! Yeah I want to do more with it! There are more things to explain!!
I was digging his music!
😊
That is one powerful Audi right there. Nostalgia!
APR is the only one that will not void your factory warranty! That is a lot of cash value right off the shelf that all others can not equal. That is the reason my S8 has the stage 3 APR kit installed. You notice the extra 123 HP.
Well it only keeps warranty if you buy it brand new and have the dealership install the tune. They are fun!
@@DallinSellers It was not difficult to locate a dealership with a returned at the end of a 2 year lease and have full warranty coverage on the car with the savings left over for all the performance upgrades I desired done to the car. Not many car makers today still take custom orders but Mercedes & Audi still do. I researched custom Audi's from luxury limos to performance S7, S8, R8 and then mixed some of the two together for my build. Starting with the A8L and then doing all the performance upgrades of the 4.2L naturally asperated R8 V8 and having it rebuilt for the 2 larger S7 Turbos. It was dyno tested at the APR service center in Costa Mesa CA. at 713 HP @ 7.200RPM I can live with the slight under steer with some caster adjustments if I wear track driving the car but its my daily driver. How do you go wrong with a car costing 45K and spending 20K to make it perfect custom?
Ever had a EPC light with no other issues ? Not even a check engine light came on and after I re start the car it's gone for like 200 miles
Sound kind of electrical issue. Have it scanned for sure
@@DallinSellers I scanned it and it had zero codes
Fun looking car. I've seen a couple used 17's with 35k on them around $43-44 ish (Vegas). Tempting for sure. Hate the new Vettes looks. They lost their identity trying to look Italian
That's what I will be looking for next a 16-18 s6
As an Alfa Romeo enthusiast, I'm aware of beautiful soulful cars that rarely work lol. I would get the clutch calibrated and see what happens with the custom tune as well. Then, enjoy it for a while and get rid of it before it brakes.
Yeah it is a pretty great car but nerve racking! 😬 That is the plan 😊 thanks for watching!
Not an Audi if that Check Engine light isn’t on🤣😂‼️‼️ Audi Luv 4ever‼️
Kind of true 😂😂
think you are mistaken with bmw
Had to sell mine recently! I was pissed I loved the car but I wasn’t about to pay 4K for the repair. So I paid out of the diagnostic and then drove the car literally next-door to Carmax after having Audi clear the codes and sold the car for 3000 more than what I put down on it. I may get another one but yes the check engine light shit drove me fucking crazy
Very informative video, my Audi is stage 2 and had never tripped a check engine light. Seems odd they didn't flash that out? Surprised at your mileage
It was a different issue 😬
@@DallinSellers can't change my mind from an S6. Comparable to a Kia Stinger which when twin turbo and v6 must be a treat. Just don't like the idea of a Korean car yet
Yeah the S6 is a GREAT car!
@@DallinSellers besides those oil feed lines clogging up, the 4.0TT seems pretty robust to be
Yes they are!
Sounds badass
🙏
I’m looking into one for 18k with 85k miles. What do you think?
I live with one for 4 years she was always amazing and it was tuned and down piped but she went through control arms and when I had to have any kind of service done let me tell you it's not for someone on a budget
Really tempted to leave my a4 for a 4.0t platform
Is this even a question???
Loved the video! We currently have a 2013 Audi S6 with only 23 something thousand miles on it. Pretty fun car whenever we get the opportunity to take it out.
Thanks 🙏 they are amazing. Yours stock?
@@DallinSellers Yeah, my dad bought his off of carmax around 2014 and the previous owner only put 2,000 miles on the car and there was some damage on the wheels but for the price and the condition of what the car was in was really good.
@@DallinSellers He really wants to get an ECU tune for it but because of the Us regulations, he's not going to do it anymore sadly.
That’s awesome 👏
You can still do that! Unless you are in California lol
Debating on one of these or an f10 m5 but these are so much better priced for what you get style wise
Yeah I think these are SO much better! Especially reliability wise!
The S6 is a 550i competitor. The RS6 goes up against the M5.
Get the m5 if u want performance,if u cruise all day get the s6 .m5 is horrible for long drives
Got t boned on my a6 so now I’m looking At the s6 just hoping it’s reliable
They are really reliable for what they are. Just change out or throw out the turbo oil screen
Dallin Sellers that’s what I’ve been told so I’m waiting for the other people insurance to give me a quote so I can start shopping and that’d be the first thing I’ll do
Very nice! They are amazing. A tune really wakes them up!
Dallin Sellers that would be the goal for sure I took the bags off my old car and just finished paying for wheels on my old car so I’ll put all of that stuff on first
Oh nice!! The s6 has air suspension already. I’m sure you already know that though
Hey, I dig that S6. Just wish they came stick shift. Do you autocross it, or drag race it?
I haven’t done either. There isn’t a drag strip out here. But I did take it to the track on day in this video! ua-cam.com/video/-QgnRCzhKMQ/v-deo.html
They also come stick shift
Uhhh no. Not the S6
I’m looking into one for 16.5k with 129k miles, is this a good deal?
Get one with less miles to start I’d say 🤷♂️
Any issues with the timing chain?
Not at the time of sale which was 119k miles
is it still running good? im considering a 2013 audi s6 that my buddy has for 27k clean title has rs7 turbo upgrade and redstar downpipes in last 4k miles also had dsg tune and tcu tune plus has stage 2 clutch package installed . really clean car just wondering if its reliable i dont want a 10k bill in the first year but just in the receipts he has in the last year 15k was spent or more
Yeah these cars are really reliable for what they are.
27k miles is NOTHING
@@DallinSellers no i should have said the car has 108,000 miles
new to the channel.. can you get a stabilizer? was getting a headache with your video edits, and the way the camera kept shaking when you were holding it at the beginning of the video. nice car though!
Thanks for the feedback! Was it the part in the car or when I was talking? Was trying to be energetic because people seem to like that more but it definitely came across in the camera movement 🤦♂️😞
This is a super late reply to a year old video, but would you recommend getting one of these that has 80'ish thousand miles on it? Most of the ones around me have 75-80k miles on them and the 80k ones fall more into my budget range. Just curious, not sure you'll even see this but let me know if you do, thanks!
I got mine at 108k miles that had been tracked, and daily driven with RS7 turbos and big power. As long as it has been maintained you should be good. Make sure the turbos have been replaced and/or the turbo oil screen has been replaced. That seems to be the biggest issue for sure. The oil screen gets clogged up and suffocates the turbos of oil.
@@DallinSellers Thank you so much! Yeah I've read about the oil screen. Not sure how I'll be able to tell if it's been replaced but I'm sure I can figure that part out. It's a small dealership about an hour away from me so I may go check it out. Service History is good though and it has 1 minor accident but from photos seems fine, won't know until I see it.
Sounds great! Just have the oil screen removed. Do a DS1 tune and a Boosted Euro tcu tune and you'll have a beast!
@@DallinSellers Much appreciated and will look into those!
Of course 💪
I was so lucky Audi warrantied my faulty sport differential, on my S4. They said it would have costed me close to $18k! Your S6 sounds beautiful.
Oh wow! That is insane
Thank you!
Looking to get a 2013 Audi S8 with 93k miles, how reliable do you think it is?
Turbo Oil screens and do maintenance religiously and it should be good. Lots of high mileage 4.0ts
What wheels are those? I own a 2015 s6 and never done any mods. I'd like to change my wheels, better exhaust noise but not too loud and less turbo lag. What do you recommend?
They are niche wheels. They are okay. I'm not a huge fan but they aren't bad. Came on the car. The awe tuning track exhaust I have is my favorite! But if you don't want it too loud you can get the touring exhaust. I would say get a tune. Changes the car drastically
I though the exhaust pops n bangs nicely on a straight pipe how comes yours doesn’t
Only 16+ S6s pop. It’s built into the tune
This is an old video- but new to me. I didn’t hear you talk about the frequency of your transmission fluid changes. Stick for sure sticking with the factory service interval is fine…. Once you start bumping up the power the fluid gets significantly hotter when you are USING that added power… i have several and if they are tuned well and not driven hard fluid changes every 30k usually before slipping… if you track or are constantly getting into power band and pushing the car 20k intervals, driving it like you stole it or really beating on it on the track 15k miles…. It sucks because it’s $160-180 in fluid but the transmission needs it.
Adaptation if using vcds needs to be done by the book… you can really screw things up by getting the sequence done incorrectly.
Is it smart if I get a 2013 with 58k miles they want 21k
Sounds like a great deal if everything is okay with it!
Is there any sort of x pipe to merge the exhaust banks? Would probably make the car sound fantastic and have a much smoother tone. Found one near me with 71k miles for $21k all options - warranty until Feb 2021. May jump on it, but I'll miss stick shift a lot!
It doesn't in this video. In a newer video I put the exhaust back with the x pipe. Love that tone much more! It is an amazing car with a tune and exhaust. Stock they are very boring
There are so many options I am having a really hard time finding one with all the options
@@DallinSellers Yeah it has the comfort seats like yours, night vision, b&o sound, top view camera etc. The comfort seats are a must in my opinion - I would love cooled seats, let alone massaging.
Yeah they are the greatest! That's crazy! I'm having a really hard time finding b&o especially
Dallin Sellers Are you looking for a newer replacement car for the current one you have? Also what year is yours?
3 years late but he said a lot of mods but didn’t say anything about a dsg tune.
APR DSG tune that I didn’t like. I’ve said that in my videos many times. 🫡
Nice car how mamy liters of fule is consuming at 125mph
😂😂😂😂 I couldn’t tell you 😉
I straight piped my S3 and hated the droning noise on the freeway. Surprisingly, after installing the ArmyTrix exhaust system (straight piped), it makes a big difference and not kill my ears driving.
Yeah this is the main reason I put the exhaust back on
@@DallinSellers Overall, it's beautiful and sounds amazing! One day I’ll upgrade to an S6 or an RS 🤙🏽
They are so awesome! Thanks my friend!
Hey I just got an Audi s6. Do you have any recommendations on what I should do? It has 87k on it.
Srm, intakes, down pipes, stage 2 ds1 tune and boosted euro trans tune
And enjoy. Great cars. Keep up on maintenance and change out the turbo oil screen. Or just take it out
Hey Bro, great video. Question regarding timing belt/chain change on the S6 cost. Not sure if it require removing the engine?
I honestly don't know anything about that
Engine needs to come out, prepare to go bankrupt
so how many psi are you running ? is there way to increase to more ? thanks
Dude, your Audi has check engine light on :)
Hi Dallin
Does it burn oil or having problems of oil leaking?
How many miles you have to fill up the oil?
It doesn't leak anything and it barely burns oil. Like maybe 1 quart every oil change. Sometimes doesn't even burn that much
Dallin Sellers thanks for the reply
My S6 has oil leaks from the engine and it just cannot stop, i have taken to mechanics to work on the problem but I seems not to be solved.. I can still see oil leaking from the bottom of the engine
Oh yikes! Well hopefully you can get it solved. I'm sorry my friend!
Good info, but bro, too much moving around during the video. Combined with the wind noise, its a little bit distracting.
For sure! I was trying to be more energetic but it came across in the camera movement! Thanks!
That grin @ 0:09
Good video. I'm surprised you filmed the whole vlog without mentioning that your check engine light is on and why. I just got a 2020 S6 and the leap from this model with the transmission is tremendous. Sounds like you won't be keeping this car very long.
It is tuned so it comes and goes! Sorry I have talked about it in other videos! Its off now.

What area are you in?
@@DallinSellers Atlanta Ga and Dallas Tx is where I live. So either one of those cities work.

SRM is the best hardware I’ve found. DS1 seems to have the best ecu tunes and boosted euro tcu tunes.
What year, I noticed some signifigant dash differences over my '13 model. As for the HP, DAMN!! I dynoed mine at 420 AWP but it was having heat soak issues (it was over 110 degrees) and the ECU had cut it back some. What Turbos do you have on it? I was looking at SRM Garrett GT2867 Gen II.
2013. I have OEM RS7 turbos. I have a the lap timer page programmed in

@@crownpowerwashing Looks like an RS grill
What mods can you do before you cross the trans limits?
Oh that is a hard one. It all depends on your trans tune as well
The turbos are the most worrisome, the turbo feed lines guys. He didn't tune his transmission and do the fluid and filter. Must be tuned for higher line pressure when running rs7 turbos especially. I don't even own this car and know this about these cars. The turbo (stock) aren't unreliable. You just need to change the inlet lines cause the filter clogs. Pcv is another baddy about these too
It does have a trans tune and the trans fluid has been changed 4 times in its life already actually. The filter was taken care of before as well
@@DallinSellers is it still slipping? Can you replace the valve body and solenoids?
I’m not sure about the valve body and solenoids. It’s not slipping nearly as bad after the new TCU tune. I switched from APR to BoostEuro.

Audi's (when they break, and they will) are endless money pits. Extraordinarily expensive to repair. Just saying. Just check with your friend formerly known as Nobori Auto repair; Sean knows his stuff.
Yeah I know but the fact that it has this many miles with these mods and not many huge problems is cool!
I don't know crap about European cars besides I don't like working on them. Dallin is lucky his is so reliable, and that's a good thing
Hahaha yeah it is!
If you buy any German car they are money pits.
Newer Audi's are not like mid 2000s Audis which had notorious reliability problems and maintenance really isn't that bad if you do it yourself. I have an S4 with the 3.0 Supercharged engine with 90k miles and I've had to replace one temp sensor. Wear parts are certainly more expensive than most but Audi's are luxury cars so you're going to pay a bit more. Doing dealer work is where it will really get you. Dealer oil change for my car is $350 but for that price you can buy everything you need to do it yourself at home. I spend about $100 on my oil changes now but that is with pricey oil, engine flush, oil additive, and oil filter. My friend's Hyundai and my parents american cars have been more expensive as they age than my Audi has.
