About Cho Chang being at Hogwarts in the battle, it's explained in the book, like Fred and George, she arrived in the Room of Requirement through the portrait that led to the Hog’s Head, along with a few other DA members, Neville had alerted all the DA members was not at Hogwarts about the battle that was about to take place, she was a DA member so she was alerted and came to help.
believe me, when Harry Potter "defeated" the dark lord, the death eaters were probably scared of him. If i recall correctly, they even would've thought, that Harry could become their new leader. So no, i don't think Dumbledore was afraid for something to happen to Harry, except for the abuse Harry suffered from the Dursley's!
Even though you wrote this 2 years ago, I came here say something similar to your comment. I agree, none of the subservient Death Eaters seems to have any ambition beyond being a toady ‘yes person’ . In fact it may even be that in Voldemort’s circle persons with ambition were targeted due to perceived challenge to Voldemort and his consolidation of power. Further, I think even most of the Death Eaters thought things had gone too far and they didn’t or couldn’t stop him. When the Dark Lord was destroyed, there was a collective sigh of relief from his own ranks from everyone but the most rabid of his followers- none of which are overly gifted with intelligence save for Snape who had turned. Dumbledore perceives there is no danger to Harry, and he is correct. As for leaving the child on a doorstep, well that’s a writing trope now, isn’t it? Probably originating from the Foundling Wheel or the Baby Hatch - a place where abandoned or orphaned children could be left and reasonably expected to be cared for. As for protection from elements and the danger of death from exposure, these things are probably already cast (magically woven?) into infant blankets at time of manufacture. Everybody knew that Voldemort had disappeared, but did any of them actually how? Even if they had, how many would have been in that much of a hurry to attack that which had been able to defeat him through unidentified means?
I think Neville leading a secret revolution inside hogwarts, protecting the first and second years, maintaining contact with the order, pulling out the sword of gryffindor.. all prove that he always belonged to Gryffindor.
Dumbledore also said that there is a lesson to be taught by even a bad teacher; what not to do and how not to be. Essentially he’s teaching them to not be like Gilderoy Lockhart. He also knew that Lockhart was a fraud and use the opportunity to expose him.
About the Dumbledore hiring Lockheart thing, he did it to expose him as a fraud and to show students that , "There is a lot to learn from a bad teacher. What not to do. How not to be."
Excluding the diary, voldemort cant come back through his horcruxes because they arent gateways, they are tethers bounding him to the mortal realm so he can survive enough to look for ways to be revived, like the stone or the ceremony petegrew performed

The "Defence Against the Dark Arts"-teacher job was cursed by Voldemort after his talk with Dumbeldore in Hogwarts. Nobody could stay in this job for a long time as something always happend . Dumbeldore was aware of it and would not risk something happening to Snape, as he knew he would need him in the future.
Ron also had scabbers in his pocket (who we later find out is a person) when Trelawney refused to sit but dumbledore already got up to grab a chair he was the first to die out of everyone sitting
It mean that the Christmas dinner scene in book/film 3 is the only time Trelawney is wrong about anything, when she said there was 12 at the table and that adding her would make 13: WRONG, there was already 13 at the table adding her would make 14.
One secret that is talked about is that at the end, after Voldemort kills Harry and he starts talking to what he thinks is dumbledore, he isn't talking to dumbledore at all. Dumbledore is dead and has already passed on. He is talking to Death itself, who is treating him as its master and answering questions while giving advice. Because with the elder wand acknowledging Harry as it's owner, the resurection stone bringing in the spirits of his parents and mentors to protect him as he advances to the confrontation, and having owned deaths invisibility cloak since the first book, Harry is the master of death. That is also possibly why he is allowed to choose to either go back, or board a train and go on.

About Trelawney and "there will be 13 of us!" When she sat there she actually became 14th because Pettigrew was technically behind that table too so there were already 13 people. Some unknown force made Trelawney to join others to become 14th behind the table and to ruin that "13 people dining together" thing. Didn't help much tho because Dumbledore got up before Trelawney sat so he became 1st of 13 to got up and became 1st of 13 to diie
she’s in uniform, unless she’s in disguise which is doubtful then the movies and book differ still plus she’s not the only one there who wasn’t a student, Dean Thomas was there when he wasn’t attending that year either…he had taken the year off to hide until the final battle

And he did emerge from riddles diary, though that's the only one capable of doing it, and it would have only raised a portion of Voldemort which I assume he'd have absorbed or something later on because they need to reconnect somehow to bring him to full power.

Dumbledore chose Lockheart as DADA position to Expose who he really was. He knew Lockheart likes to boost his image and ego by using other people of greatness as his metaphorical staircase. By using Harry as bait to get him to go to the school he would either be exposed for what he truly was, or would be eliminated by the curse.
He said why didnt harry realize peter petergrew was in rons bed but why would harry watch the gryffyndor hall anways on the map? And also I think the rat was almost never in rons presence at the school atleast and what about the order of the phoenix i guess peter have been there inside.
When you n is basically all of these except the Hedwig one, and for the Cho Chang fact, I’m the movies there are multiple instances where they changed what year some students were in so they could’ve changed her specifically or just needed an extra for that scene, or she was there after she graduated to help with DA there are countless reasons

Also the Tom Riddle coming out of the book was not Voldamort, even if he would have succeeded completely in gaining full mortality it would have been a second Riddle introduced to the world who only had the experiences from the time of creating that Horcrux. The other Horcruxes show little signs of having a method to gain enough connection with someone's essence to be able to form a shadow self of the original creator. That said the Necklace in the seventh book seems to be working on Ron and it's even possible that it may have gained some control over Ron if he would not have left when he did, or stayed in contact more than he did.

The horcruxes's only point is to stay alive as a "spirit", not getting back your body. Maybe he could have tried when de was in Quirell but it would have been nearly impossible in Hogwarts.
I'm pretty sure that the map only shows people, so when in animal form Peter just didn't register and only showed up because at the time he was probably doing something that he needed to be in human form to do. he was still in hogwarts when the map was taken by Lupin, who did not see him on the map.
marauders' didn't show furniture and If twins look at the dormitory they could see at least 25 names at the small square and they can't separate them too...

About Harry being put on the door step, in a later book I believe half blood prince, Dumbledore has a sit down with the Dursleys explaining their arrangement in the beginning about Harry, which means when he was left on the doorstep they at least Petunia was aware of his impending arrival. And McGonagall had been there all day watching them. The only important oversite of Dumbledore was being unaware that at that orphanage he had just met the most dangerous dark wizard of all time, but then we wouldn't have a wonderfully woven wizarding world to work with.
In regard to Harry not being noticed at the Dursley's when he was left there. He was protected from detection as long as he was underage. Remember there was a big to do when Harry was about to become of age because then he could be tracked. Also if I'm not mistaken, he was also further protected as long as he was at the Dursley's because of Lily's Sister being there. I believe there was something about her having the same family blood as her sister. Finally, I do not think anyone knew where he was. Which is why he was moved at midnight. So Harry was definitely protected while he was there. As far as Dumbledore allowing Lockhart to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts, it was stated that they were finding it very difficult to find professors who would even take the the job. So in this case he may have had no choice. It probably became a matter of, who would actually accept the job vs who actually wanted the job. Lockroy couldn't teach potions so the couldn't put him there and move Snape. So Dumbledore was stuck. I'm sure he kept a close eye on Lockroy and his classes. One other tidbit that has never been mentioned. Harry was supposed to be a 1 yr old boy. This is around the age when kids first start to walk. Yet the kid they put on the Dursley's step looked almost like a newborn or maybe at best 6 months. He's wrapped as a baby who still cannot move on his own would be wrapped. The kid placed on that doorstep was no where big enough to be a 1 yr old.
#1 You forget about the fact that Dumbledore assigned a sqib who was a neighbor to look after him. Also both Hermione and Neville proved themselves to be true Gryfindors in the end. The sorting hat looks at potentials and tries to make the best decision about the development path of each individual. I think he picked Gryfindor for Peter because he thought it would help Peter to develop his self-esteem and character.

Neville have the most potential for courage because he is afraid. Every time he stand sup even to his friend's is tbe times where he shows just how brave he is. He stand sup to the Trio when they plan to sneak out and is petrified temporary by Hermoinie (or however you spell her name) for example. Bravery does mean fearless. It's to have the courage to stand up even if your afraid.

Gilderoy Lockhart wasn't Dumbledore's fault actually. Pretty much everyone knew about the DADA being 'cursed'. Not many ppl would've wanted to work in a cursed job so there weren't many options if any at all
For petegrew not showing up on the map, I dont think the twins were using the map any more which is why they gave it to Harry. They had already used it several years before Ron and Harry attended Hogwarts, and had it memorized.

I agree that Trelawny can foresee. Because however in the Order of the Phoenix, when Dolores Umbridge talks crap about Trelawny in her classroom she says that Dolores was in grave danger. *Grave Danger means someone's personal safety is threaten* , im not sure about this but Order of the Phoenix, Dolores almost got shot by an arrow and was taken away(by centaurs). Atleast, in the movies- i havent read all the books yet- I also found the "Always" part in this video the most interesting! The sorting hat never makes a mistake. It was right all along. Hermione wasn't a good fit for Ravenclaw because though she is really intelligent and witty but remember that the first step to be knowledgeable is to accept new things. Hermione didn't possess the quality of accepting new things as Luna or Cho did. She always shrugged off Luna's opinion because she spoke things which Mione had no idea about. But wasn't it actually Luna who helped Harry with the diadem of Ravenclaw? Also Hermione was way braver than any Ravenclaw. Gryffindor was the actual place for her. Neville. He didn't fear that with Harry, Ron and Mione gone and with two younger friends to tackle without Dumbledore knowing that Voldy was returning. He, Ginny and Luna restarted DA. When Ginny and Luna didn't return because of some very unfortunate events. it was truly brave for Neville to keep on with DA. Way braver than any Hufflepuff. Peter Pettigrew. He betrayed the POTTERS. Really a feeble act for a Gryffindor. But remember, he didn't flee like karkaroff. We get to see his braver side though for the wrong reason. Because he was too dumbo to realise the right or wrong. SORTING HAT NEVER MAKES A MISTAKE.
well, Cho Chang was member of Dumbledores Army, so when word spread out that Harry was back in Hogwarts, she most probably went there same as Remus, Thonks, Kingsley and the Weasleys (and many more), so that should be the reason why she was part of the final battle against you-know-who Lord Voldemort and the death eaters, and in the book, there returned many of the former students to join the battle, including many of Harry's quidditch teammates, Percy and the Weasley family, Cho is not named there, but it's most likely that she was there too
dumbledore could have easily hidden baby, harry with spells. if u have read deathly hallows ,when harry and hermione camp in dean they put protective spells that hide them form being seen by griphook and his company. so I guess that dumbledore could have done that.
The sorting hat knew that Neville will end up being brave he with ginny and luna led the d.a. and he even killed nagini so Neville is a true Gryffindor and remember what Hermione said in book 1 that friendship love and bravery is more important than knowledge and there is an under rated act of bravery of Hermione modifying her parents' memories it is very hard so Hermione is also a true Gryffindor
1.marauder's map didnt show peter pettigrew is because ,he was always in rons pockets or in ron's hand ..it is well quoted that the map shows only the person on the "ground".so peter pettigrew managed to stay above the ground,untill he was spotted by harry.And why fred and george didn't see him in thier house is because the map shows only hogwarts.2. lockhart was appointed to save snape who was behind the job ,dumbledore should have known it well that the job was jinxed.

In regard to hiring Prof. Lockhart there's another theory that Dumbledore was perfectly aware that Lockhart was a fraud, that he hired him specifically to expose him in nor uncertain terms. In another place Dumbledore says "One can learn anything from anyone, even if only not what to do."
Hermione wasn't sorted in Ravenclaw because the hat thought she had a lot of bravery, a trait which Gryffindors have. And Neville was in Gryffindor because the hat saw he really was very courageous (which we see in the later books)
I think the assumption was that he would only be left to the care of the most powerful wizard, and the only one that could ever stand to Dumbledore was Voldemort itself, with him gone they all had to go and hide for the imminent trials would come. Only the most loyal would ever dare to search for him or Harry, hence the torture of the Longbottoms. Why would a wizard, specially a DE think someone so important would be left to the care of weak useless muggles? I am more fond of the theory of Dumbledore's plan for Harry, that included showing him what he could become if he felt ill to fame. If McGonagal sent him to the chamber, it's only because she knew he was a scam and that he had found nor knew nothing about, wasn't counting on Ron and Harry to play a part in those events. Horrocruxes aren't respawn points where you can just reappear when you die, it's only meant for him to always be able to be brought back to life. Even his broken body needed of a ritual to bring him back to his full glory, and that wasn't even a Horrocrux. The only fail with Cho Chang being there could be that she was wearing a uniform, because she went in through the secret pass as well (with other DA and OotF members), but since all students were called to the great hall it was just probably to blend in, kinda of how Harry was wearing a robe

The "Defence Against the Dark Arts"-teacher job was cursed by Voldemort after his talk with Dumbeldore in Hogwarts. Nobody could stay in this job for a long time as something always happend . Dumbeldore was aware of it and would not risk something happening to Snape, as he knew he would need him in the future.

One secret that is talked about is that at the end, after Voldemort kills Harry and he starts talking to what he thinks is dumbledore, he isn't talking to dumbledore at all. Dumbledore is dead and has already passed on. He is talking to Death itself, who is treating him as its master and answering questions while giving advice. Because with the elder wand acknowledging Harry as it's owner, the resurection stone bringing in the spirits of his parents and mentors to protect him as he advances to the confrontation, and having owned deaths invisibility cloak since the first book, Harry is the master of death. That is also possibly why he is allowed to choose to either go back, or board a train and go on.

When she sat there she actually became 14th because Pettigrew was technically behind that table too so there were already 13 people. Some unknown force made Trelawney to join others to become 14th behind the table and to ruin that "13 people dining together" thing.

When you n is basically all of these except the Hedwig one, and for the Cho Chang fact, I’m the movies there are multiple instances where they changed what year some students were in so they could’ve changed her specifically or just needed an extra for that scene, or she was there after she graduated to help with DA there are countless reasons

She wouldn't have put anything together about it. Not at that time at least. She really didn't know anything about Harry at that point so she wouldn't have realized there was a hidden meaning. By the time she would have, she would probably forgotten the exchange in her first class with Snape.

That said the Necklace in the seventh book seems to be working on Ron and it's even possible that it may have gained some control over Ron if he would not have left when he did, or stayed in contact more than he did.

@@harleyhollenbach4661 Technically Harry died in the Forbidden Forest, but it was around a year after Dumbledore died. Also, Snape died several hours before Harry, if he actually died. I'm pretty sure he did die, but there are plausible theories that Snape did not die, it only looked like he died.

About Harry being put on the door step, in a later book I believe half blood prince, Dumbledore has a sit down with the Dursleys explaining their arrangement in the beginning about Harry, which means when he was left on the doorstep they at least Petunia was aware of his impending arrival. And McGonagall had been there all day watching them. The only important oversite of Dumbledore was being unaware that at that orphanage he had just met the most dangerous dark wizard of all time, but then we wouldn't have a wonderfully woven wizarding world to work with.
In regard to Harry not being noticed at the Dursley's when he was left there. He was protected from detection as long as he was underage. Remember there was a big to do when Harry was about to become of age because then he could be tracked. Also if I'm not mistaken, he was also further protected as long as he was at the Dursley's because of Lily's Sister being there. I believe there was something about her having the same family blood as her sister. Finally, I do not think anyone knew where he was. Which is why he was moved at midnight. So Harry was definitely protected while he was there. As far as Dumbledore allowing Lockhart to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts, it was stated that they were finding it very difficult to find professors who would even take the the job. So in this case he may have had no choice. It probably became a matter of, who would actually accept the job vs who actually wanted the job. Lockroy couldn't teach potions so the couldn't put him there and move Snape. So Dumbledore was stuck. I'm sure he kept a close eye on Lockroy and his classes.
One other tidbit that has never been mentioned. Harry was supposed to be a 1 yr old boy. This is around the age when kids first start to walk. Yet the kid they put on the Dursley's step looked almost like a newborn or maybe at best 6 months. He's wrapped as a baby who still cannot move on his own would be wrapped. The kid placed on that doorstep was no where big enough to be a 1 yr old.
#1 You forget about the fact that Dumbledore assigned a sqib who was a neighbor to look after him. Also both Hermione and Neville proved themselves to be true Gryfindors in the end. The sorting hat looks at potentials and tries to make the best decision about the development path of each individual. I think he picked Gryfindor for Peter because he thought it would help Peter to develop his self-esteem and character.

Neville have the most potential for courage because he is afraid. Every time he stand sup even to his friend's is tbe times where he shows just how brave he is. He stand sup to the Trio when they plan to sneak out and is petrified temporary by Hermoinie (or however you spell her name) for example.
Bravery does mean fearless. It's to have the courage to stand up even if your afraid.

Hermione wasn't a good fit for Ravenclaw because though she is really intelligent and witty but remember that the first step to be knowledgeable is to accept new things. Hermione didn't possess the quality of accepting new things as Luna or Cho did. She always shrugged off Luna's opinion because she spoke things which Mione had no idea about. But wasn't it actually Luna who helped Harry with the diadem of Ravenclaw?
Also Hermione was way braver than any Ravenclaw. Gryffindor was the actual place for her.

When Ginny and Luna didn't return because of some very unfortunate events. it was truly brave for Neville to keep on with DA. Way braver than any Hufflepuff.

well, Cho Chang was member of Dumbledores Army, so when word spread out that Harry was back in Hogwarts, she most probably went there same as Remus, Thonks, Kingsley and the Weasleys (and many more), so that should be the reason why she was part of the final battle against you-know-who Lord Voldemort and the death eaters, and in the book, there returned many of the former students to join the battle, including many of Harry's quidditch teammates, Percy and the Weasley family, Cho is not named there, but it's most likely that she was there too
dumbledore could have easily hidden baby, harry with spells. if u have read deathly hallows ,when harry and hermione camp in dean they put protective spells that hide them form being seen by griphook and his company. so I guess that dumbledore could have done that.

In regard to hiring Prof. Lockhart there's another theory that Dumbledore was perfectly aware that Lockhart was a fraud, that he hired him specifically to expose him in nor uncertain terms. In another place Dumbledore says "One can learn anything from anyone, even if only not what to do."
Its not a theory, ot says that exactly in the books
Hermione wasn't sorted in Ravenclaw because the hat thought she had a lot of bravery, a trait which Gryffindors have.
And Neville was in Gryffindor because the hat saw he really was very courageous (which we see in the later books)

I think the assumption was that he would only be left to the care of the most powerful wizard, and the only one that could ever stand to Dumbledore was Voldemort itself, with him gone they all had to go and hide for the imminent trials would come. Only the most loyal would ever dare to search for him or Harry, hence the torture of the Longbottoms. Why would a wizard, specially a DE think someone so important would be left to the care of weak useless muggles?
I am more fond of the theory of Dumbledore's plan for Harry, that included showing him what he could become if he felt ill to fame. If McGonagal sent him to the chamber, it's only because she knew he was a scam and that he had found nor knew nothing about, wasn't counting on Ron and Harry to play a part in those events.
Horrocruxes aren't respawn points where you can just reappear when you die, it's only meant for him to always be able to be brought back to life. Even his broken body needed of a ritual to bring him back to his full glory, and that wasn't even a Horrocrux.
The only fail with Cho Chang being there could be that she was wearing a uniform, because she went in through the secret pass as well (with other DA and OotF members), but since all students were called to the great hall it was just probably to blend in, kinda of how Harry was wearing a robe
