  • When using a tracheostomy tube, it is important to know what each part of the tracheostomy tube is called. Although tracheotomy tubes come in many different shapes and sizes, the parts of the tracheostomy tube are nearly universal. Join me this week as I discuss each part of the tracheostomy tube. #lifewithavent #trach #medicalequipment

It is VERY important for people to know and understand the entire tubing circuit for ventilation. Errors in setup can have catastrophic results. It’s great that you are explaining these so users and caregivers can see the pieces to supplement manuals which are often confusing.

Thank you so much for all you do. Very informative. I've got a question for a future video, if you can. Why is having a trach tube give me so much secretions. Its like I constantly have to clean my inner cannula. Thank you so much..

Thank you for your question. I have a different video about coughing in which I address why a person produces more secretions when having a trach tube. Here is the link to the video: ua-cam.com/video/lmQWXQfoVrA/v-deo.html
I will place your question in my question of the week folder and will do a future video on this topic.

Hi, ma’am pls help me with my questions, When can a tracheotomy be removed? How to get rid of tracheostomy and ventilator? What needs to be done so that patient can breathe by own?

Hello. Yes, a tracheostomy tube can be removed. The removal of the tracheostomy tube and ventilator needs to be carefully monitored by medical staff and needs to be done in a very careful manner tailored to the patient's needs. If you would like more information about removing the tracheostomy tube, please watch the following video: ua-cam.com/video/w3h-GxXbxFk/v-deo.html

If the patient is coughing when drinking juice and milk, the patient needs to have his swallowing evaluated. He may be aspirating. The patient may need to have a thickener added to his drink, or he may need a feeding tube. A medical professional needs to evaluate the patient.
