As someone who repossessed cars for a bank back in the day, you got off easy with this one. Getting those repos back to our storage lot was some of the hairiest experiences I ever had. We carried a “survival kit” with fluids, fuses, a jack, lugs, fix-a-flat, duct tape, flashlight and so forth. Just to get from point A to point B. We had to inventory everything in the car and bag it to give back to the customer. Some of those cars were worse than crime scenes. I told both my kids, never buy a repo or a former rental car.
I like how the engine has a ton of sludge but he revs it like crazy and then his tire pressure is super low and then proceeds to show how well it still handles.
If you can get a clean one under $40k I don’t know if this was really a bargain for $30k… If the engine works out I guess it is but if it ended up needing a new engine that would easily exceed the price of a good one.

Hi from Gibraltar! Its no shock that you stumbled upon that info online. The levante cloud is a semi-permanent fixture here, it’s beautiful the rest of the time I promise
Try flushing with Valvoline Maxlife synthetic (high detergent) and a bottle of Liqui Moly engine flush. I've had a lot of good history with that for flushing gunk, varnish, and sludge. You might even want to flush and then drain and do it a second time. In your case, idle for a bit longer, maybe 25 or 30 minutes. You could even try popping in a bottle of AutoRX in the next oil to clean the metal off.
ive done the Seafoam in the oil and run for a while during normal changes keeps the sludge down, i would do with this one as one flush isnt going to get everything out from my experience and all those parts maybe worn and he should do a blackstone engine oil anaylsis on the old oil as well
@@michaelhoffman8309 Change it first, add it in with the new oil, and run that til your next oil change. If things haven't improved, then repeat. Otherwise just go back to a good oil and you'll be fine as long as you keep up on oil changes to avoid sludge in the future.
Rented one of these from Enterprise for my wedding. Was a fun quick car, handled great in snow. Had a great sounding exhaust. Not something i would want to own for a long term, just couple days of fun and returned it back.

How does he do an oil flush? Like, what's "the right way"? I was always told not to uses those oil flush additives because they make all the sludge go to the bottom of your oil pan and clogging the oil pickup tube; starving your engine of oil and eventually "bricking it".
It blew my mind that you floored it with a sludgey engine. If there’s anything you can do that would likely result in the engine blowing, it was that lol. Brave or dumb, maybe both haha.

Yep. Maserati and Volkswagen.
Don't forget Khamsin, Ghibli, Shamal and Karif. So far as I know, there is not one called Mariah...
A few more:
Chubasco (South American violent squall).
Buran (Russian/Central Asian sandstorm or blizzard).
Karif (Arabian wind).
How does he do an oil flush? Like, what's "the right way"?
I was always told not to uses those oil flush additives because they make all the sludge go to the bottom of your oil pan and clogging the oil pickup tube; starving your engine of oil and eventually "bricking it".
The fact the car drives after he showed how sludged up the engine was says something about it's reliability.
he should send the oil into blackstone for testing that engine may not last long being run low
Not really, the damage could already be done.
It blew my mind that you floored it with a sludgey engine. If there’s anything you can do that would likely result in the engine blowing, it was that lol. Brave or dumb, maybe both haha.
I can't imagine spending over 100k for a car with a bunch of dodge caravan parts in it.
Pacifica is 60k now
@@mikedavern2155 That's $61,000 more than it's worth
Like bro that’s the reason why Maserati fell off like Infiniti and never competed with Germans but I gotta say the MC20 is promising. Infiniti is just an overpriced Nissan like Acura is a overpriced Honda and Lexus is an expensive Toyota
@@Digitalsharecropper I’m pretty sure it’s the highest trim not the starting MSRP
@@yungboicontigo9278 I haven't looked into the mc20 too much but it looks amazing. Hopefully it holds up
A Maserari!! What fun to come 🙂 (It does look good already, and sound good, and some wheels will really help it 👍).
Its amazing how many dodge caravan parts are in that Maserati
I think that beats out Lincoln and Cadillac for shameless cheap parts sharing
@@svpracer98 I don’t think both of those do parts sharing. Lincoln interiors looks really good and different from Ford and the Escalade interior is really beautiful for a Caddy let alone a GM.
Hey, I see it as how many Maserati parts are in the lowly Dodge Caravan…what an exotic value!
@@BillLaBrie That instrument cluster is identical to the cluster I had in a 2014 caravan.
@@floridaman7 Whaaah do you summahh, dahlink?
Royal purple engine oil works amazing to remove sludge witch you would really notice it pour out on next oil change
Perfect example of buying a car you can't afford to keep up. Clearly they needed to just get an old Honda odyssey cash car lol
Usually the driver is at gun point when these are put into “jack mode” 😂
I'd go get that thing deep cleaned. Specially if it smells like "cat urine". Not to scare you or anything, and not saying this is the case, but another thing that smells like cat urine, is in fact, meth. Deep detail asap!! Better safe then sorry.
I think it was probably a drug dealers car
I’d be willing to bet that this was once a rental car. The high mileage, mismatched tires and random damage really makes it seem like an old rental
This was a drug dealer's car for sure. High mileage and little to no maintenance is a tell tale sign. Drug dealers usually live beyond their means, because they're always counting on their next "deal" .
I can almost guarantee that this was someone's Uber whip.
I was thinking the same thing, or possibly it was whored out on Turo.
If by Uber you mean drug runner then yeah definitely
Just for reference, Levante is a wind, but it also means "Eastern", like the "riviera di levante" means "Eastern coast" in Liguria, including a lot of fancy places like Portofino and Cinque Terre. Definitely not a fart for an Italian speaker :)
New drinking game! Every time you spot one of Hoovie’s car’s in the wizard’s shop take a drink.
Hoovie, a slight correction to the beginning of your vid. The Levante is not the only Ferrari derived suv I give you the >> Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. @17:25 Seinfeld episode car bad smell.
Maserati has a long tradition of naming cars after winds: Mistral, Bora, Merak, Ghibli to name but a few.
I never heard of Maserati Mistral but it sounds kinda cool
4:28 -- Hoovie calling the Maserati Trident a "spork" I almost choked on my food. LOL!!!
My best guess on why it smells is if you think about a 2019 car with 104,000 miles that’s three years my guess Is that it was a dealers car that he or she used to go deliver their goods to the customers
Weed smell doesn’t just linger like that unless there was still some in there
@@jakecolvin8609 Well as an active smoker I can personally tell you yes it does if you keep bud inside of your car for a long amount of time on a hot day it will Make the car smell And if you’re a drug dealer my guess is that you’re probably gonna be having a bunch of weed in your car for a long amount of time for an extended amount of days

Love me some hoovies especially @6:20 in the video where he lightly smacks his head on door frame getting into the car. It not the hoovie we want, but the hoovie we deserve.
The Levante is the most beautiful, elegant Jeep Cherokee on the road
😂
At least the engines are different lmfao
LOL, to be fair, he did say this chassis isn't shared with other Chryslers, but damn it sure looks like it.
The V6 is tuned by Ferrari not Ferrari derived, it's roots are in Pentastar :)
It's different from Alfa's V6.
MY god Hoovie surpassed himself in the Hooptie selection draft !!

Oh neat. When I was working in a rich neighborhood, the lady whose house I was restoring offered me her 10 year old Maserati coupe for $8000. It had 50k miles, and was in really similar condition!
I was thinking this was a divorce related repo...
@@ericanderson1691 yeah, this lady got the car in her divorce, and drove it into the ground.
Not sure if you caught it but at around 20:42 it looks like the hub assembly at the lower control arm is cracked.
From what I’ve seen, I’d recommend having a BG treatment run through the engine and fuel system. Lots of mechanics recommended this product but I know you have the Wizard and I’m not sure what he uses or does with an engine that caked up? Of course with a little clean up and interior work, you will have a very nice vehicle! You might not loose your shirt on this one? Thanks!
That thing needs a Diesel engine oil flush. We use to do it to marine engines that sank and filled up with water and milkshaked the oil. Would clean up the system every time.
buying maserati is like your heart says i love the front grill even when your mind says that door doesnt fit properly
