      Put an LS in it! My GS460 smelt like an ashtray, really really bad which is why I got it so cheap - I squirted piles of commercial cleaner through the air ducts, replaced the cabin filter, and ran a ozone generator in it overnight, now it smells great - so it's not impossible to fix.

    I'm a dealer, I argued with manheim today because the condition reports no longer mention mechanical either! Literally a leaking or knocking engine, will not be mentioned!
    Failing to disclose odors, engine lights and engine knock is beyond crooked! It's inflating the CR, which inflates MMR!
    It's sickening how shady this is.

      @randkamza1206 Місяць тому

      @wilc4036 well, cox automotive owns kbb. They own Carfax, Manheim and autotrader as well. They definitely work amongst themselves to make trade in low on kbb, CRs inflated at manheim, Carfax retail high for dealers and autotrader, etc.
      Kbb trade in used to be right on the money with manheim mmr, because trade in value was dealer wholesale value. Now because of erroneous condition reports, manheim wholesale cars can be $500-1500 over kbb trade in easily.

      @@shaunportlock4924, yep, you heat the engine, and then that water decides to start running for some reason, it'll unevenly cool the engine.
      From experience, engine can get pretty toasty and survive if there is coolant all around. When you have practically dry engine, water enters it or a bit of it evaporates from the depths of the water channels, it raises the pressure (evaporated water is something like 1000 times the displacement of the liquid) which gets cooling system running a bit again, water shoots in and then you get warped heads and all the good stuff. Actually, in those cases it might be better to not have water at all, but I guess it's all down to luck at some point.

    • @SiCrewe
      @SiCrewe Місяць тому +1

      @@ralphinator2 Think about it.
      The radiator is attached to the engine by rubber hoses filled (in the absence of coolant) with air.
      How, exactly, is the heat of the engine supposed to get to the radiator?
      Through the rubber hoses and air?
      The temperature sensor is usually in the radiator - NOT in the engine - so all it reads is the temperature of the air inside the radiator, which is being cooled by ambiant air blowing through the radiator as the car moves.
      To say that's a "fairy tale" is to admit you've never actually been in a car with a burst radiator or examined an engine with a ruptured head gasket that's pissing boiling water while the radiator hoses are stone cold.
      Beats me why some people become aggressive when confronted with something they don't understand.

    During the madness of the used car market from 2020-2022 I flipped several vehicles. One of them was a 2014 Ghibli SQ4 that I had for about 6 months. It was a fully loaded one owner Texas car with 28k miles on it. The only issue I had was cosmetic. The leather on the upper dash had come up in a couple of places. It was taken care of through Carvana's warranty to the tune of nearly $10k, and I had to wait a month for the replacement to be made and shipped over from Italy. The car sounded amazing but was too heavy to be agile. Maintenance costs on the F160 engine are pretty ridiculous and the interior, even with the extended leather package, was just ok. I put about 6k miles on it and traded it in for the same price I paid for it. It checked a box on my automotive bucket list to own something Italian, but it wasn't all that special apart from the engine and the badge.

      After 1 year--most of it in the shop--they traded it in on a Jaguar XJ6. The Jaguar dealer gave them $9,000. The Maserati dealer told them that if they wanted it, they'd give them $5,600...but they didn't want it.
      The Jaguar was what you'd expect...a nightmare.

      @@THEFlea1991 I would have happily purchased anything with the Buick 3800 engine as well, thanks to the Car Wizard's advice! I just got home from a 140 mile round trip for work and I averaged 25.5 mpg on the freeway! We need a return to reliable, durable, SIMPLE engines and vehicles in America!

      Same, I have been driving town cars for seven years now. Sadly my mom bought one of these Ghiblis in red despite my advice not to, and it’s been hell. Fun to drive when it runs good, but it doesn’t run great at all at idle. It’s been a money pit, and it’s the first year like this one (2014) which makes it even worse.

      @@chynacash3138 There are certainly worse choices. It rides pretty nice even with 22s on it. They are rust buckets by the time they come to me for repairs, so I don't see much of the good side of them. This one is a replacement for a badly rotted out 2010 MKX.
