  • Shooting the most popular gun on UA-cam is not a joke, its a THRILL!
If you haven't had the chance to purchase one of these revolvers, much less hold, I think its a safe bet to pull that metaphorical trigger! Shooting is always a blast, but we found even more joy when shooting this recoil friendly 44 MAG (NEVER thought I would be uttering those words.

The spc is ok. But the 180gr sjhp actually from my testing penatrate about the same as a 45acp 230gr hp in water jugs.
But are extremely effective on hogs even out of a 2in barrel. Yes I carry the mag round most of the time

I have a rare Taurus Tracker in
.45 Colt in brushed stainless. They only made them for 1-2 yrs. Mine has a 4" barrel & I liked it so much and the .45 Colt round I went to try and buy the 2" version for concealed carry, .... but Noooo. I even called Taurus & the guy said, "just as soon as we quit making something people want it,.. when it wasn't selling good !" So I never found one in a 2". I love my Tracker in .45 Colt,....America's caliber.

I bought one of these before the Judge came out to run snake shot in the field. As a handloader I run ammo that replicates the performance of a 44-40. Very accurate and very pleasant. But running full bore loads was just too painful!!! The trigger guard would bite my knuckle hard enough to bruise it after just 3 shots! I considered getting rid of it until a friend suggested changing the grip. A Hogue grip was $19 so I tried it. Day and night difference!!!!! The Hogue has more rubber running down the trigger guard so there’s no more bite! Just for comparison purposes in 1992 I bought a Colt 6” Custom Anaconda. Custom meaning it was pulled off the assembly line, mag-na-ported and run through the custom shop for trigger work. Needless to say it’s exquisite!! But after acquiring a digital trigger gauge I tested the two 44s and clearly the Taurus has a better trigger!!! Not just in pound weight but the double action is noticeable smoother!!! I can imagine how good this gun would be with some fine trigger work!

I just started watching this. I have one of these - mine is stainless. I have not had any problems with mine. I would ask if you sighted this in on paper before you started shooting? I was able to find some Black Hills ammo with 240 grain XTP bullets. About 1250 fps I guess - and it shot just fine. The recoil is significant for sure. It does make it challenging to shoot double action for sure. Ah, so you're adjusting the sights... so no you didn't sight it in. So missing the targets initially just mean nothing really. Then I see that you were able to hit reliably after the sight adjustment. Trey... no comment. lol

I have a stainless version and the front sight is still as it came... I agree about the recoil. I've shot mine with full house loads and they feel like medium loads to me. I think the comp ports make a huge difference. I really like mine. Once I dialed my sights in, mine shot good. I had no trouble hitting my target at 25 yards. It is a handful for sure though. I just loaded up some lighter loads with coated cast 240 grain bullets from Missouri Bullet going 1100 fps (book). I'm looking forward to trying those. I'm expecting it to be relatively soft shooting - and hoping they are accurate.

I guess training with a 44 is one way to prepare for the recoil of a 10 mm lol most people think 10 mm recoil is too hard to control for fast follow up shots on a grizzly, you keep training for follow up shots with that 44 and you will be lasering shots off with that 10 mm lol

The porting helps with the felt recoil and muzzle rise. Mine came with the older "ribber" style grips...not a fan of the feel of it but honestly it does cushion the recoil more than the Hogue grips I bought for it. I was surprised to hear about your front sight. Mine is painted orange. Very fun shooter, bought it for no particular reason than I just wanted a good, cheap 44 in my wheel gun collection.

    • @GSquaredTactical

Yeah I could tell it was a sticker when I was doing the tabletop. Now I would have never imagined it would have came off. Been shooting 44 mags with heavy handloads since 74? To many rounds to count. But.... anyone who tells you they are not affected by recoil is kidding themselves. These days that is around 50 rounds from a 44 mag. Always good to shoot a 22 for a bit at that point. Waste of lead and powder once you start flinching. The only handgun I have that 'hurts' is my 340PD in .357... 12 ounce gun. I have always found the 44 mag to be extremely accurate.

I really like the cheap Blazer aluminum cased .44 mag. for long shooting sessions and blasting stuff on the ranch. Try some of the lax brand or freedom munitions brand .44 mag. Even people who consider themselves “shooters” usually shoot a pistol from 20 yards and in. Hell 10 yards and in a lot of times. I feel like I’m wasting ammo if I’m not at least 40 or 50 yards out.
