- Shooting the most popular gun on UA-cam is not a joke, its a THRILL!
If you haven't had the chance to purchase one of these revolvers, much less hold, I think its a safe bet to pull that metaphorical trigger! Shooting is always a blast, but we found even more joy when shooting this recoil friendly 44 MAG (NEVER thought I would be uttering those words.

The spc is ok. But the 180gr sjhp actually from my testing penatrate about the same as a 45acp 230gr hp in water jugs.
But are extremely effective on hogs even out of a 2in barrel. Yes I carry the mag round most of the time

Loved it!, always great to get hands on knowledge from the field from someone . I just bought one, it now has the intended orange filament on the front of barrel which is a big plus. Thank you.

Just picked one up myself, been wanting one of these "affordable magnums" for about three years...no one seems to want to keep them in inventory?...had to buy it used....have not fired it yet....looks like somebody really loved sticking a cleaning Rod down the barrel all dinged up end of barrel where porting starts?.....oh well...its only new once!...LOL
Yeah it never ceases to amaze me how people treat their firearms, but I hope it give you many years of good service and enjoy. @@ericlaird7508good thing is that the barrel does not go all the way to the end. The barrel actually ends just shy of the porting

Just bought this peice in 4" stainless. Couldn't beat all the features it came with for the price.

I have a rare Taurus Tracker in
.45 Colt in brushed stainless. They only made them for 1-2 yrs. Mine has a 4" barrel & I liked it so much and the .45 Colt round I went to try and buy the 2" version for concealed carry, .... but Noooo. I even called Taurus & the guy said, "just as soon as we quit making something people want it,.. when it wasn't selling good !" So I never found one in a 2". I love my Tracker in .45 Colt,....America's caliber.
Yea sir that’s right nothing but freedom. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please subscribe if you haven’t already
You could get some pretty nice 45 colt from Underwood loaded a 255gr semi wadcutter at 1000fps!!! You'll probably be around 900fps out of your tracker.
@Wildwestwrangler yes sir
The honesty helps. I owned an ultralite .44 magnum. It was extremely light and the grips absorbed the recoil.

I bought one of these before the Judge came out to run snake shot in the field. As a handloader I run ammo that replicates the performance of a 44-40. Very accurate and very pleasant. But running full bore loads was just too painful!!! The trigger guard would bite my knuckle hard enough to bruise it after just 3 shots! I considered getting rid of it until a friend suggested changing the grip. A Hogue grip was $19 so I tried it. Day and night difference!!!!! The Hogue has more rubber running down the trigger guard so there’s no more bite! Just for comparison purposes in 1992 I bought a Colt 6” Custom Anaconda. Custom meaning it was pulled off the assembly line, mag-na-ported and run through the custom shop for trigger work. Needless to say it’s exquisite!! But after acquiring a digital trigger gauge I tested the two 44s and clearly the Taurus has a better trigger!!! Not just in pound weight but the double action is noticeable smoother!!! I can imagine how good this gun would be with some fine trigger work!
Yes it’s impressive especially at the price point. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I got a 5 incher 44. Raging hunter and have completely fell in love with this thang. It’s not a tracker but…
They are awesome gun especially at the price point
From that flinch that peeked out on you when you dropped the hammer on an empty cylinder I’m going to say that was your reason for missing at 25yds and not the blacked out front sight like you claimed 🙂
You peeped that out too? 😂😂
It kicks like a mule. I think the frame is to small the gun fits nice just kicks real hard
I thought compared to other 44’s I’ve shot that it handled the recoil well. Thanks for watching
@@GSquaredTactical I have a Raging Bull. First time I fired it I was actually taken completely by surprise by the lack of recoil. My wife had a .38sp snubby from S&W that felt like you were smacking a tree with an aluminum bat. I hated shooting that gun but can run full-powered Underwood +p ammo through my .44 Raging Bull all day long if it wasn't so damn expensive haha
@@bluewaterboof82 the 38 snubbies do have pretty obnoxious recoil lol
I have this gun and I prevent slamming my body trying to hold on target at 25 yards.
I bought 200 .44 Special brass casings.Hand loaded to target specs,A lot kinder and a lot more accurate.
No question 44 special is more accurate with less recoil. Hard to find 44 special in our neck of the woods. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I just started watching this. I have one of these - mine is stainless. I have not had any problems with mine. I would ask if you sighted this in on paper before you started shooting? I was able to find some Black Hills ammo with 240 grain XTP bullets. About 1250 fps I guess - and it shot just fine. The recoil is significant for sure. It does make it challenging to shoot double action for sure. Ah, so you're adjusting the sights... so no you didn't sight it in. So missing the targets initially just mean nothing really. Then I see that you were able to hit reliably after the sight adjustment. Trey... no comment. lol
Yes this gun actually has very manageable recoil and yes accurate enough even in double action. Thanks for watching
I always used to shoot my model 29 low, but I assumed it was because it was due to my anticipation and I was pushing down in that anticipation.
That’s a very real problem and possibility I do the same if I’m not careful. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already. Thanks again
I have a stainless version and the front sight is still as it came... I agree about the recoil. I've shot mine with full house loads and they feel like medium loads to me. I think the comp ports make a huge difference. I really like mine. Once I dialed my sights in, mine shot good. I had no trouble hitting my target at 25 yards. It is a handful for sure though. I just loaded up some lighter loads with coated cast 240 grain bullets from Missouri Bullet going 1100 fps (book). I'm looking forward to trying those. I'm expecting it to be relatively soft shooting - and hoping they are accurate.
Sounds like fun. Thanks for watching and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Tnx for the vid!
Thanks for watching
That's the first hand gun I ever shot 240 grain ammo, rocked my world follow up shots would be hard with out alot of practice. Next I shot 10mm with only 125 grain ammo and with me being new to the scene felt like I would be more confident with the 10mm. With practice/ efficiency the 44.magnum in the wild for bear protection along with bear spray.
Both are heavy hitters for newbs lol. I probably wouldn’t have picked another gun up if that was the first one I shot lol 😂. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I guess training with a 44 is one way to prepare for the recoil of a 10 mm lol most people think 10 mm recoil is too hard to control for fast follow up shots on a grizzly, you keep training for follow up shots with that 44 and you will be lasering shots off with that 10 mm lol
You got that right haha, there’s one way to respect a heavy round, and that is to shoot a heavier round! Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven’t already
I've used MagTech ammo in my Taurus 44 mag. and have never had any problems with it, but I've gotten the best performance from S&B ammo
We’ve not had an issue with any ammo type in the gun. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I noticed magtech seems to be soft brass I have noticeable difference on their brass when I ran it in my 30-06 . I'm looking for a bear hunting pistol sometimes I have had a shot opportunity inside of 50 yards but looks like I'll probably just save up until next year and get something a little better made or many just an old used one
I can’t blame you heck my theory is if you can afford better then certainly buy better. Thanks for watching
I have the 44 with 8 3/3 barrel I just shot mine yesterday I loved it couldn't find a colt anaconda so got that one I do miss my 41 mag s&w with the long barrel

Hell yah man! Got one today and runs better than my 608. That barrel and weight are the key.
What kind of hearing protection are you using? Active or passive? Thanks, Tom KC3QAC
Passive
you can paint that front sight as desired. Shooting with 44 specials it is pretty tame, but I would buy the bigger Model 44 if I was going to actually hunt with 44 magnums.
Thanks for the advice, and thanks for watching. Please subscribe if you haven’t already!
I put white out on front sight. If it rubs off later, do it again. White out is cheap and dries fast
Whatever works I just used some white auto paint that I have for my truck. It’s never worn off any gun I’ve used it on. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already. Thanks again

I've owned one for about 6 years and no complaints or problems. It is a hand full with 240 gr loads. I load 200 gr hornady ftx bullets and it is very tolerable. At 73, my hands are not what they once were.

I have the stainless 4 inch. I am not recoil sensitive at all though and I concealed carry mine with american eagle 240gr jhp. I practice with magnums on steel in double action at speed a lot. Of course it helps that my hands and wrist are a lot bigger than yours. I don't really notice 44 mag much. Now 460 s&w or hot 500 mag or 475 linebaugh I do notice.

The porting helps with the felt recoil and muzzle rise. Mine came with the older "ribber" style grips...not a fan of the feel of it but honestly it does cushion the recoil more than the Hogue grips I bought for it. I was surprised to hear about your front sight. Mine is painted orange. Very fun shooter, bought it for no particular reason than I just wanted a good, cheap 44 in my wheel gun collection.
Yeah I could tell it was a sticker when I was doing the tabletop. Now I would have never imagined it would have came off. I painted it white but will probably paint it orange when I find some orange paint. Recoil is very controllable for such a well balanced gun. It doesn’t shot like a cheap gun. Houge is good for sure
The porting pretty much eliminated muzzle rise on my 357 tracker. Very controllable

Hello there... What is the model number of that black .44 mag? I wanna get myself one for Christmas.

porting a gun just makes it louder. I do agree that pulling the hammer back is pretty much what I do.Patridge front sights with yellow nail polish. I am not a Taurus fan. guys brought too many of em for me to fix. I am told that they are much better now but.... not gonna take a chance.
Listen man I know what you mean. Well.. in theold daysa lot of folks ought em... they were cheap and rumor was they were built using tooling left there by Smith.. and they did seem to shoot well. They seemed to be fine until they got to be a few years old. I am just suspicious given the new burst of adds and UA-cam reviewers all happening at once. Bottom line? I would not trust em.@@GSquaredTactical

.44 is a powder puff unless loaded very stout. My 12 year old daughter shoots my .454 casull no problem she will also run through a fully loaded 12 gauge with buckshot. I think you need to shoot a whole lot more if .44 mag. Is your idea of heavy recoil.

How does the black matt finish seem to hold up ? Does it scratch or ????
Not really like I know what you mean dull black or parkerized finishes seem to scratch very easily even with a fingernail sometimes. I’m pleasantly surprised at this finish and how it’s held up. @@GSquaredTactical hay appreciate the answer. Been skeptical about Taurus over the years. They seem to have to stepped up on their quality . I've seen several channels saying they are better than the past . I reload for 44 so I can afford to shoot a little ( the only way lol )

Been shooting 44 mags with heavy handloads since 74? To many rounds to count. But.... anyone who tells you they are not affected by recoil is kidding themselves. These days that is around 50 rounds from a 44 mag. Always good to shoot a 22 for a bit at that point. Waste of lead and powder once you start flinching. The only handgun I have that 'hurts' is my 340PD in .357... 12 ounce gun. I have always found the 44 mag to be extremely accurate.
Yes sir. The hardest hitting small revolver I’ve ever shot would be a toss up between the Ruger LCRX in .357 and the RIA M206 with hammer. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already

Throw some 180gr in there. Plenty of power, more velocity, and you can shoot them all day.
Save those 240s for the bears!
Oh yeah lol. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already. Thanks again
Do not listen to this advice 180gr. factory ammunition is no joke. I have several cases of 180gr. Rem. Umc and PMC 180gr. and both are hot rounds and shoot huge fireballs every shot. I really like the cheap Blazer aluminum cased .44 mag. for long shooting sessions and blasting stuff on the ranch. Try some of the lax brand or freedom munitions brand .44 mag. They are pretty good and seem a little lighter loaded. To be honest I shoot any .44 load and am fine with it but I shoot alot of big bore revolver, heavy rifle rounds and shot gun so I don't notice recoil like most people, thanks for the videos!!!
200-210 grain Russians or Specials at 750-850 fps. Pussycats to shoot but will still knock the stuffing out of a bad guy with the right bullet.
This is one of the advantages of the big bores. You don't have to go for hyper velocity to get the job done.
It is not hard to stay on target shooting double action. It’s about practice. If you try to “pull the hammer back” in a defense against an armed adversary, he’ll put several rounds in you before you get a shot off.
I’ve saw a few folks shoot a revolver that would disagree lol. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already

@@tonyrebel63 Yes - the 627 Taurus Tracker is the perfect balance, imo... I have one also (4" ported barrel; stainless steel). I actually have a snub nose, unported .44 Mag version of the Tracker now as well... It's very harsh in comparison (because of it's power) - but I'm considering loading it with the much milder .44 Specials for self-defense carry. And as a snub nose it's surprisingly concealable - with it's 2.5" barrel - I've found.
@@carlosmorris4510 I think I will take your advice. I just need to put in more work with it to get comfortable when pulling that trigger, so as not to anticipate the bang. The 3" 605 is one of my every day carry. People keep telling me I need a higher capacity gun, but am cool with 6 or 7 good rounds. I had a kid in my lock up show me what a 22 lr round did to him and he was not a happy camper. Fortunately he lived to tell about it.
Try it in 454 Casual, that’s twice the energy of the 44.

Break that non shooting hand thumb over the wrist. Use that to cock in the single action, so you're not breaking your shooting grip. Also helps tame recoil!!!
Yeah I don’t have a lot of experience shooting revolvers just never been a fan so any advice helps. Thanks bro

A colored front sight won't help your trigger honk.
True 😂
In the manual it states that use of hand-loaded ammo invalidates the warranty. Also heard that reloads do not perform well.
My intended use would be for backpacking and canoeing carry in griz country. 44 special for mostly for practice with occasional full load magnum to remind and prepare me for the recoil.
Comment?
I’ve never used reloads to my knowledge. I know we have put a wife variety of ammo through this gun from cheaper to higher price brands with absolutely no problems to speak of. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already

I want to tell you your video shows good country boys being mighty nice and helpful, proof your folks did a good job of rearing you up. Now, about those rude city boys dissing you like they were, shame on them and they can go sit in the corner with their nose in a circle on the blackboard of your outdoor classroom until they’re humbled enough to say they’re sorry. Most people have the ability in most real life instances to pull the hammer back. People been pulling hammers back working levers, pumps and bolt actions for ever. It's all about training and habits. Check out Bob munden for example.
1000% correct sir I will pull my hammer back if at all possible. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already. Thanks again
I think it depends on the situation. I think most of the time that you would not have time to thumb the hammer back will be a very close range situation where the DA pull is not much of an issue.
Keep in mind that thumbing a hammer is no slower than thumbing a safety.

Gotta love hearing people talk about how certain ammo is crap but they can’t hit a plate at 15 yards lol. 100 percent of ammo is more accurate than 99 percent of shooters. Even people who consider themselves “shooters” usually shoot a pistol from 20 yards and in. Hell 10 yards and in a lot of times. I feel like I’m wasting ammo if I’m not at least 40 or 50 yards out. Get good at 60 yards and “self defense” range is an actual joke.

This gun is trash. I have sent mine back twice, the third time they are sending me a new one. The frame bent and was so out of whack the gun could have exploded. This gun cannot even shoot heavy 44 mag loads, what does that tell you? Why have a magnum when all it really shoots is 44 special. Just save your money and buy a smith and wesson...
We try not to be gun snobs if we can help it. That’s almost like saying if someone buys a Ford Taurus that they should save their money and buy a Bugatti. Sometimes it does not matter how much money someone saves they can barely even afford one firearm at a budget discounted price to purchase for their self defense much less pay several hundred dollars more for a firearm. Yes, it is mostly true that the more money you want to spend the better you are likely to get but for those who cannot afford to buy a higher priced gun we review this one, because it is a very effective, reliable, accurate, and easy to shoot option. Thanks for watching.

Yes sir they are it’s cool to each their own
Way too much talking. Bored.
Sorry you didn’t like
You talk too much
Ok thanks for watching
I have this and the 357 model. The 357 is pin point accurate, the 44 mag has not been so accurate. Maybe I bought cheap ammo or maybe I just over anticipate the recoil.
I actually really love Taurus revolvers. Some people look at me like I’m not being honest when I say that, but I am. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Got the Raging Bull and it’s more accurate than my 608
You don't put enough rounds down range, double action single action whatever, that's why you ain't hitting targets. It don't matter if it's double action or single action. And the ported barrel on the Taurus revolvers is what helps with recoil, not balance of the revolver.
What would we do without you?!!
No, in a real life situation you should never cock the hammer on a double action revolver. Fire from double action for liability purposes , more than likely you wouldn't have the time to cock the hammer, real world in Hollywood are two different things slick!
You do you I’ll do me slick
I really enjoy your vidios.😊
Thank you sir that means a lot. Please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
