I also love and enjoy the other King Arthur (Sean Connery) movie 'First Knight' with Sir Lancelot (Richard Gere), but I would first and foremost take Sir Ioan over Sir Richard without even blinking an eye.
You can see the Battle of Monbadon around 500 AD. Arthur versus Cerdic of Wessex and Aelle of Sussex. On the other hand the Romans had left Great Britain since 410. This is the last battle won by the British Celts.
Lancelot finally found a belief in this movie near the end worth fighting for, The cause of freedom.
