I really feel for Flint's character. He refused to bow down, ready to fight, endure pain and sacrifice for the last thing that he would die before giving up, freedom. Freedom the way he saw it, as a broken man, full of rage and heart covered in scars yet using the darkness within to fight for that one last thing left to fight for.
My dear don’t worry if we can’t see again Captain Flint. He was dead in the island and reborn in James McGrow the same moment when he met Thomas. The thing that makes quite iconic is that anyone didn’t get a happy ending (except Jack and Anne) but James get the best ending: the quietness and the joy in the end of his journey such as Ulysses in the Odyssey. He get what he wished and even more.
I agree, loved nearly all the characters, but related to Flint/Jame's portrayal of inner strife (for lack of a better phrase) most of all. A film aficionado I am not, but this series was a master piece in my eyes. Even that aside, the whole damn series was an excellent take on the human condition.
You perfectly captured the character of Cpt Flint, the rage the sadness, the wanting of a place in the world for himself, free from the oppresions of the world.
Honestly an awesome tribute to one of the few perfect shows. Perfect cast, perfect art and costuming, perfect soundtrack, perfect story with perfectly paced arcs and a perfect ending-not the happiest, but the only way things could have worked out.

To me it is indeed one of the Greatest shows, but compact in it's four Season form is perfect, wanting for more ... With 8 till 10 there's the risk of GoT, or The Blacklist, the latter being stretched out to long, the mystery dragged on and on that one doesn't care anymore.. I wouldn't want that for Black Sails.. All I'd want for Black Sails is that there would be more recognition of it's quality as one of the Greatest Treasure Island would be great.. but if I'm not mistaken Flint is only mentioned... not actually present

The ruthless bandits Nd murders... lies... the Only real armed Robers and Voilent actors the Police would need to save us from is themsevles. The reasons they Tell us WE Need laws. Think of Flints Last words before silver brought him to Tomas.. or killed him? He blames silver to be the reason Pirates will BE Monsters , Not freedom fighters ending Slave Trade, and and the Kings rule...Which is a soft parlel to the historical speech of Samuel Bellemy to Captain Beer. So? Dont you have ENOUGH of this Story after 20 Something Films and 100 years time of Reading every Word of this book a thousand Times? What about a Bit more historical correctness ? Pirates the fathers of the idear of a free new world and US. Not that it.. after the Pirate age fade Out COMPLETLY lost Track and now is an Regime.
Flint was the true hero of this show. Silver thought he was helping him, but idk, locking him away in a labor camp forever seems like the opposite of help.
It leads into treasure island, silver does it for a woman and for that comfort. Flint tells him this and silver ends up a nameless pirate years later latching onto a new pirate crew trying to rediscover flints treasure
