Theres a horrible simplicity to realising whatever you do in the modern day you'll never be remembered, after your grandchildren die your name will be forgotten. I feel as though every man just wants direction in life which is so hard to find nowadays, I weirdly envy all the people living in ancient times where the options were a lot fewer and success or failure a lot easier to define.
This shows two things I love about humanity. 1) Those few humans that think and do remarkable things, totally worth of following them. 2) Those that see the value of those remarkable humans, and follow them because of admiration and not fear. Both are what makes humanity great. Achilles knew he made the plans, the strategies, and the decisions, but he also knew that he wasn't more than the rest of his myrmidons, that they were equal brothers, maintaining true friendship and leadership. The honor that the myrmidons felt for him is also admirable. They were one, thus Achilles also needed them. I was inspired to write all this because of this part 5:50 ("Fighting for you has been my life's honor my lord") The music behind these scenes makes you feel the beauty of it. Hope for more humans like these.
Men are haunted by the vastness of eternity. And so we ask ourselves: will our actions echo across the centuries? Will strangers hear our names long after we are gone, and wonder who we were, how bravely we fought, how fiercely we loved?
This movie came out the year I turned 24... Almost twenty years later and it is still my absolute favorite film of all time. There are a handful of other movies that come close, for me personally, but I've yet to watch another film that resonates with me like this one. Perhaps it has to do with my lifelong love of history, particularly medieval and ancient history, or all the Greek mythology I read as a child, I really couldn't say...
This film is easy to follow and understand, yet it’s not basic and run of the mill. The casting and set are realistic and well done. There are many other films that I like a lot, but they aren’t so rewatchable. I can rewatch this movie many times and it’s still fresh. It’s not only a plot twist or shocking ending which many films hinge on to be good the first watching, but the whole tale is enthralling and relatable. The struggle to have glory, but also losing it all in the course of it. And even when you achieve it, you wonder if it’s ever truly worth it.
i am with you. Gladiator, Troya, Braveheart and even King Arthur 2004 (not the story, but how he played him). Still waiting for this kind of move about Musashi...
I have see this movie too many times to count. This cut is a short version of all the best parts. Be sure to watch the whole thing though. Outstanding. One of the best movies ever.
This is better than the movie, because it tells a story, not a situation. The stories of people are captivating. Not recounts of events, places, or things. People, there lives, and the stories they tell is why we are captivated.

I watched TROY as a teenager, twice, first at the theatre with my mother, second in school with my mates and teacher. Brad Pitt was absolutly brillant and well casted for playing Achilles, yet, I had troubles liking him until the begining of his relation with Briseis. He starts as a teenager/manchild, reach manhood and maturity, then dies in the end, being at peace with himself. I felt way more "close" to Eric Bana's Hector than Pitt's Achilles, I must confess. Hector was more calm, stable, loyal and vertuous, a husband, a father and a prince. < The man you would like to be with, and you would like to be like >. I knew what his end was going to be, yet I cried during the movie. In the end, both are great exemples, to follow, or exemples to avoid. As I grew up, becoming an adult, then a teacher, and one day, a husband and a father, I understand these archetypes clearly.
Alexander the Great visited the site of Ancient Troy in 334 B.C., as he embarked on his campaign against the Persian Empire, leading a unified Greek Army (Hellenic League). The visit to Troy held both personal and strategic significance for Alexander. On one hand, it fulfilled his long-held desire to pay tribute to his hero Achilles and connect with the glorious past of Greek mythology. On the other hand, the visit served as a powerful symbolic gesture that showcased his intention to unite the Greek world under his rule and carry on the legacy of the legendary heroes. Upon reaching the Tomb of Achilles, Alexander took a moment to pay his respects and acknowledge the greatness of the legendary warrior. Then, Alexander poured oil over the tomb, a customary practice in ancient Greek funerary rituals, symbolizing purification and sanctification. He also placed garlands of flowers and foliage on the tomb, signifying honor and respect for the deceased. Next, Alexander and Hephaestion sacrificed animals, likely horses, to honor the spirits of Achilles and Patroclus. This ritual was meant to appease the souls of the dead and seek their favor. Finally, Alexander is believed to have organized athletic games at the site, following the ancient Greek tradition of hosting such competitions in memory of deceased heroes. By paying homage to Achilles, Alexander was reinforcing his connection to the heroic past and legitimizing his claim to lead the Greek world. After Troy and his first victory at the battle of the Granicus, while leading a unified Greek Army (Hellenic League) to avenge the Persian invasions in Greece 150 years prior, Alexander the Great sent 300 suits of full Persian armour (to honor the legendary last stand of the 300 Spartans in Thermopylae) to Athens, as a votive offering to Goddess Athena, to be hung on the Acropolis. He ordered an inscription to be fixed over them; “Alexander, son of Philip and all the Greeks, present this offering from the spoils taken from the barbarians inhabiting Asia". A statue group, known as the Granicus Monument, was erected by Alexander in the sanctuary of Zeus at Dion. This consisted of bronze statues by Lysippus, of Alexander with twenty-five of his companions who had died in the initial cavalry charge, all on horseback. Alexander the Great is a sacred, immortal, legendary figure for us Greeks. Mostly for uniting all Greek City States and Kingdoms and spreading the unique Hellenic culture to the edges of the world. The rightful descendant of Achilles. Eternal Achilles, eternal Alexander 🔥🇬🇷
The film is true to the work of Homer and Ancient Greek mythology in that it shows Helen’s departure from Sparta, whether willing or otherwise, as the act that provoked the Greeks to go to war. While it accurately shows Paris in love with Helen, it strays from the original when it comes to the character’s fate. In the film, Paris kills Achilles and then escapes Troy with his cousin Briseis. In Homer’s poem, Paris dies during the war after he is struck by the poisoned arrow of Philoctetes.

I love this movie, and i love Achilles this is amazing work in making this video.
Better the lowest Helot alive than the greatest warrior in hades Achilles to Odysseus
That boy just save the war for us the greatest line
So much rage, but so much solace in the days of chaos. Order will be restored.
We earn, the strength. So we can party on our own found strength, forever. Strength is the only thing that matters in this cruel existence.
Farewell Life set to the story of some tragic hero always manages to make me choke up. Excellent work.

without direct godly interventions and supernatural elements.

Truly a master piece.....TROY
Immortality. TAKE IT, it's yours!
This is truly one of the best edits I have seen. So seriously impressed. Should have been the trailer
Only the second best epic movie of all time after Gladiator. Ive watched this movies so many times. Love it / intrigued by it each time, as if ive not watched it before. Brad at his best. The best fight scene in all movie.
Such a legacy that even a bodypart was named after him
I love how the movie makes it seem that the Trojan war lasted a few days and not 10 years like the poem says.
Saw a new Achilles tribute in my home page and got excited when I saw it was you that made it 😆😆
“There no pacts between lions n men”
Eloquently said 💯
Legendary Warrior Achilles
One of my favorite quotes Achilles says in this Great movie is, Imagine a King who fights his own battles wouldn't that be a sight.
History remembers the weakness of kings and the strength and courage of warriors and hero’s like Achilles
that edit brought a tear to my eye.... thank you
"You gave me peace in a lifetime of war'

one of the best movie
best warrior in humanity
I've watched this over 100 times now I think. This is probably one of the best edited clips I've ever seen on UA-cam.
Appreciate that friend!
Troy is here. As com empire has willness. A walk a greatest of all
fantastic edit! i like how you kept his face out of the beginning with the shots of him suiting up until He comes riding in on the horse. As well as using the clashing sounds of big fight vs hector as impacts and crashes to help drive home the narrative. Bravo.
I never get tired of this movie.
this captures the romance of achilles story beautifully done
You gave me peace in a lifetime of war 💔
Absolute brilliant edit. You’ve outdone yourself man.
Thanks man
